Though a bit risky, Hailey actually feels the need to be close to the battle, so she will move to Flandrion's side, unless someone can think of a better place for her. That is, she will move after she gains control of a wolf. Until then she's staying in place because 30 feet is as far as she dares go.
"It is important that you boys understand that if I do manage to get a wolf under my power, that you do not do that wolf any harm. You'll break my hex and it'll turn against us."

![]() |

Hailey will finally use her hex, using her power as a wizard (necromancer class feature) to channel the energy needed to try and gain control over the nearest skeletal wolf, but any skeletal wolf in the 30 foot radius will do.
Finally using her Command Undead power. DC 13 to resist her hex.

Garekk seems to swell and grow, veins throbbing throbbing in his neck as he swings his great sword over his head and towards the skeleton in front of him.

The barbarian's powerful blow smashes into the animated bones, but is less effective than it would have been against flesh. The creature is still very wounded.

The sorcerer's spell goes wide as he casts it in a rush.

The creatures re-position, the wounded one shifting out of the line of fire, the fourth still waiting beyond the melee. Their attacks do not breach the new line the party has created at the narrow entrance to the cavern.

Garekk takes a swing at the new skeleton in front of him..
"Be strong and hold the line! These unnatural creatures are using good tactics, but we can prevail!"

Flandrion |

Obviously, in order to have taken a two handed grip on his morningstar, Flandrion would have had to drop his Everburning torch. Fortunately it will not go out, but Draalush or Hailey may want to grab it when they get the chance.
Flandrion, seeing that he has his own wolf to deal with, attacks the one directly in front of him.
Attack roll: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Sigh. At least he isn't hitting Garekk.

My post is the third above Broman. I didn't realize this was a new round.. If so...

Sorry guys between work and lack of motivation it has taken me way too long to get this post up

Between the party's attacks and hailey's power finally taking effect 3 of the 4 creatures have been removed as a threat. The last of the creatures disappears deeper into the cave.

Hailey cackles with delight at finally doing what she has always wanted to do, always believed she could do. Let's face it, like Sheldon Cooper, she's one lab accident away from being a supervillain.
Anyway, she laughs gleefully, and when she finally stops, she looks at the men of the party.
"Well, boys, what shall I tell my little minion to do? Lead us to his dark ex-master, or to some goodies, perhaps? What's your pleasure, boys? First, a test of my power. Dance, little minion. Just for thirty seconds."
Then she acts like a puppet master pulling a string.

As the last wolf runs, Garekk moves out into the cavern, looking for any clue as to where to go next.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23

Flandrion |

Flandrion says, "I would not suggest doing that unless you view your minion as potentially expendable. It would end up depending on how stealthy it was, and if it wasn't stealthy enough, how fast it could run away."

![]() |

Hailey recoiled during the casting, finding the power both pleasurable and distasteful at the same time.
"I have two scrolls of the spell left. Under normal circumstances, I wouldn't have even considered doing such a thing to myself. It feels too . . . odd. But it simply will not do to enter combat with half my health gone."

![]() |

"And that is very wise of you, Little One." Garekk says, returning to the gnome. "There are several exits here, but we need to silence the master of these skeletons before we try to explore. Can your skele-wolf find the necromancer here? The last skeleton went to the right, but the passage splits not very far in."

Flandrion |

Flandrion says, "Finding the master should be our first priority. I did not realize you had controlled one of the wolf skeletons. It should make a good scout. But beware should its original master regain control of it."

![]() |

"All right, my little friend, lead the way. Where will I find the person who formerly commanded you before me? By this, I mean, take me to who is in charge of this place, please, and I expect you to protect me should I fall under attack along the way," she says to her minion.

The creature wades across the pool of water darting down a dark passage into a chamber that has been carved from the rock. The walls have shelves carved into them that contain all manner of unlabeled vials, bottles, flasks, boxes and other containers. The chamber is about 25 ft by 40 ft and has low stop tables about 3 ft deep on all sides, these tables are covered with lab equipment, scrolls, tomes and notebooks.
Most interesting though is the clearly dead skeleton chained to the floor, it's body unnaturally twisted and warped to the point that you aren't sure what species it originally was. It is slightly over 6ft tall, with a slight hunch, definitely humanoid, with a large head that is if anything even more warped than the body. The teeth look fierce and designed to rip flesh.
The skeletal wolf is pawing at a wooden door at the far end of the room.

Garekk pats Hailey on the shoulder as he moves toward the door. "Good job, Little One. Are you able to raise that skeleton too? It may help, but it will also prevent an enemy at our back!"
Should he receive a negative response, he will go up to the door
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
If he is unable to see or hear anything beyond the door, Garekk will open the door

Flandrion |

As Garekk approached the door, Flandrion said, "Wait a second or two please."
Perception check: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12Specifically looking for traps, but with that result probably not finding any.

"I'm sorry, but I cannot. So if you'd like, you may smash it. And I'd like a minute too before you open that door. Thank you, little minion. Now please be a dear and stand guard over me to forestall any attacks on me."
First, she'll raid the shelf of its vials, bottles, flasks, boxes, scrolls, tomes, and notebooks. This is Hailey in a candy store.
"I'd also like a chance to read these notebooks and find out exactly what this person was up to before we open that door. Not to mention these scrolls. Scrolls can be incredibly useful one-shot weapons, used correctly. I'd like to know what these scrolls are, not to mention what, exactly, we're dealing with here, before we proceed. Wisdom before battle."
Then she will use Detect Magic in the room.

There are half a dozen potions that are magical and four scrolls, the scrolls appear to be in two different languages, either of which you can read. The language of two of the scrolls is shared by the notebooks, the tomes are in half a dozen languages and the ones you can read all relate to necromancy, it would take several hours of research to be more specific.

Garekk holds at the door, waiting to see what the mgic users have found.
Any word on my perception check re the door?
