GM Moshado |

Leto would finish moving to the paddock gate and would open it.
Blue Jay will dismount and take to the opening of the clearing - the only perceived exit from this place - and he will hide in ambush.
Arvalis will ride at the Paddock gate using his horse and himself to block exit if possible.
Moved to the gate, and opened it... THE FIEND! He must be stopped before gates everywhere are opened! Marty will take the full round to run towards the paddock like a madman
Arvalis rode forward he pulls a smaller axe from within his cloak and throws it in one smooth motion smartly striking the fence post to his left.
Leto jumps seeing the ax would jump into the paddock and closes the gate hoping to stop him.
Blue Jay continues to hide in his ambush point just in case. he will also look out of the clearing to see if anyone followed them. Blue Jay doesn't see anybody that followed them or doesn't hear anyone
Smokey will continue to hold.
Martlin continues his run to the fence and then shifts inside once he reaches it
Arvalis charging forward on his horse waving an axe the horse comes to a screeching halt and Arvalis flies over the fence.
Leto blinks in surprise as the wind is knocked out of Arvalis as he lands flat on his back, taking advantage of him would draw a dagger and stab him doing 8 points of damage.
He will find that there are no threats at their rear so he will look back over to the paddock and then ask,"Oh...Kay... That does not appear that it is going well..."
Smokey will spur the horse and it answers her charging towards the paddock.
Martlin casts the extended servitor behind leto
Arvalis Struggles to his feet trying to ready his weapons.
Leto would strike at the rising Arvalis doing 6 points of dmg leaving Arvalis Staggard but standing.
The blue hued dog appears behind leto and attacks him, using his focus on arvalis
Leto strikes at Arvalis and misses.
Blue Jay double move. done Weapon is out just in case.
Smokey manages to get the horse to the fence and would lean down casting managing to keep it healing Arvalis for 7 pts.
feeling revitalized Arvalis steps in with a mighty swing cleaving the air teaching it a fierce lesson.
Martlin will summon his second pet next to arvalis and both will activate their smite evil now that they are sure they have it
Arvalis takes a mighty swing
With a cry of pain Leto looks around finding himself being surrounded quickly as he dodges Arvalis's swing.
Leto will try to strike at the dog that just appeared hitting it for 3pts then take a 5ft step away.
Blue Jay another double move. my turn is done.
Smokey would hold ready to heal who needed it
stepping closer Arvalis tries another swing. striking a large bug that was flying near by.
Martlin looks to end this, moving so he can fire his shock arc only hitting his dogs (who also move to flank the bandit, they are immune to his lightning)
Leto stabs at the already injured dog knocking it unconcious
Blue Jay double move
Smokey will hold,
Arvalis closes to swing once more.. He is doing some major damage to nothing.
Both the canines fade out and Martiln commands leto to lie down, will save 16
Leto manages to shake it off and would strike out at Arvalis and misses
Blue Jay performs another double move and he says,
"Alright, what is going on in here?"
"Umm...I think they are fighting." Smokey offers in confusion as an answer.
With a mighty roar... Arvalis hits a butterfly.
Making another 5 foot step for a clear shot Martiln tosses his baby fireball striking touch ac for 22 for 3 damage
Leto is now unconcious
Marty gets out his spell book and uses it to Coup De Gras the bandit
Blue Jay will simply say. "Well it seems my work here is done..."
One hearty smack and the bandit’s head is bashed in leaving blood on the cover of Martlin’s spellbook.

Blue Jay |

Blue Jay will mill about the camp proper and look around for coins to pocket but also clues as to the actual purpose of the previous owners. She mentioned something about fate - maybe they had a treasure map or something. Metaphorical or otherwise.
perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
For a thorough search

GM Moshado |

The horses calm quickly, having only been slightly startled and it is clear as he calms them these horses seem more intelligent than the average horse. Despite their seemingly fragile builds, they look like they can hold their own weight when pressed. One, has a silky dark blue dappled coat, another has a white coat and mane, two were palomino colored, and one was a red roan. They looked like expensive horses. The pack horse looked similar to the horses the other bandit's had been riding.
Blue Jay's first search finds the tents, all good quality, three medium, one large. The chest, which had three locks on it, and the sleeping gear that included cots and nice cushy bedrolls. A second chest, unlocked, with very nice clothes and cloaks. A pile of armor and weapons, but no loose coin.

GM Moshado |

I know a through search would pull up all of this.
4 courtier outfits
6 nobles outfits
4 very nice cloaks(you each get to pick a color for fun)
3 chain mail
3 short swords
1 longsword
4 masterwork backpacks
1 campsite kit
1 Chronicler’s Kit
1 Mapmaking Kit
1 Grooming Kit
1 Shaving Kit
4 Cots
3 Medium Tents
1 Large Tent
4 Ornate pouches
4 riding kits
1 pack saddle
ON Leto
3 Keys
acid (2),
smokestick,
tanglefoot bag
studded leather
daggers (5),
short sword,
thieves' tools
25 gp

Blue Jay |

Awesome, Blue Jay will take a blue cloak of course. The rest can be divied up. He doesnt really need the outfits... actually I take that back... he is totally gonna take one of the noble or coutier outfits. One that has plenty of sea blue and gives him the nice dashing rogue kind of look. The other stuff can be sold. As for the stuff on Leto, the acid flasks, the smoke stick, the tanglefoot bag, and the gold... that is all he is interested in.

Martlin Tigersoul |

"I'd very much like this Earthy brown cloak, and a nobles outfit would certainly suite someone of my high birthing. I certainly am the only one suited to use the Chronicler’s Kit I would imagine and a cot and medium tent would round out my provisions nicely." Perusing the gear quickly Martiln searches for any symbols or writing of interest, paying close attention to the keys. He cleans the cover of his spellbook off on leto's clothing.

GM Moshado |

Surprisingly not a lot of readable material except for a few hand scrawled notes from an unknown source.
-- Let no trader go unpunished or unfined for traveling the road. Discourage any who dare to enter the River Kingdoms.
-- Council Meeting at Fall Equinox
-- You owe me 5 gold
-- Found rune stone, it Killed Bennett. Find new blood.
Each key had a unique animal wrapped around a rune.
The first key was black with a raven with a wing and beak holding the rune with red gemstone eyes.
The second key was silver with a wolf with a blue gem eyes in a regal foward pose its paws foward with the rune sitting on the paws and under its chin.
The third key had a mink curled around a rune playfully with green gem eyes.

Martlin Tigersoul |

Tucking the notes into his journal Martiln will also inspect the chest and try the existing keys in it. He also fumbles with the pack saddle attempting to load up any unclaimed gear for future sale or barter onto the pack horse. Walking over to the horse he rode in on he begins to lecture it on the virtues of making his ride smoother so as not to discomfort him quite so much in the future.

Smokey Kit |

Smokey would go through the clothing and finds something in a slightly smaller size that is a white and purple. "I know a little bit about sewing if anyone needs them to be tailored." She would look at the tent's and such and goes in one closing it up and would dissappear for a bit before coming out in the new clean outfit with a grin. "It feels so soft." She said stroking it.
Looking at each of them she stares at Martlin as he struggles with the chest, the horse, and then lectures the other horse. Giggling she watch's him amused.

GM Moshado |

Each lock has rune's on either side of the key hole but no identifying markings (Linquistics check for those that examine and have it) Through trial and error you can find that the Mink Key fits into the first lock and turning it the lock unlatches and the lid open's up on its own.
Inside was a guilded scroll with a writ and a letter.
Be it so known that the bearer of this charter has been charged
by the Swordlords of Restov, acting upon the greater good and
authority vested within them by the office of the Regent of the
Dragonscale Throne, has granted the right of exploration and travel
within the wilderness region known as the Greenbelt. Exploration
should be limited to an area no further than thirty-six miles east and
west and sixty miles south of Oleg’s Trading Post. The carrier of
this charter should also strive against banditry and other unlawful
behavior to be encountered. The punishment for unrepentant banditry
remains, as always, execution by sword or rope. So witnessed on this
24th day of Calistril, under watchful eye of the Lordship of Restov
and authority granted by Lord Noleski Surtova, current Regent of
the Dragonscale Throne.
Lord Jacob Surtova,
The writ I have enclosed gain's your family rights, to descretely settle the Greenbelt of the River Kingdoms. It took a lot of coersion to make sure it come into my possession to pass onto you. With this it is possible to start your own kingdom free of the Rules of Brevoy, and to make your own Kingdom. Be that your luck and prowess sees you through and for my families assistance you find a place for us in your new regime.
Your Gracious Servant,
Gracelin Sheliana Lodvodka
Knowledge Nobility Check

Martlin Tigersoul |

Glad to share the joy of words Martlin responds, "Of course, take note the penmanship, the writ is definitely legitimately written by a scribe of Brevoy, and the handiwork on the second missive is that of high birth for certain, also likely truley written by the hand that signed." He shares the missives without question but ensures they are properly stowed before any journeying further is done.

GM Moshado |

Linguistic's is trained only and you don't have the one language that I would let you make a check on but I will have you assist since you can make a DC 10 check without being trained. By the way, this means you can assist on knowledge checks even if you don't have the skill rank.
Blue Jay's knowledge of Taldane reconizes this as Ancient Taldane. Each of the locks seems to have an incomplete word but when paired with a key, the key finishes the word. With a little work and Martlin's assistance you can can piece together. The Mink Key completes the word All, the Wolf Key matches the second lock and completes the word For, and the Raven key completes the third locks word of One.

Martlin Tigersoul |

derp should have tried to identify the language first, figured with all mine I'd have a good chance :P XD oh and I'll have ranks in it next level, 2 now, already planned 1 just to learn Tengu heh :P Fascinated by the Bird Mans grasp of the language Marty sits paying rapt attention as the chest is opened.

Blue Jay |

That is why I put at least one rank into it starting out. It is handy for at least one person to have.
He says,"Ancient Taldane, hmm? Interesting lock designer I must say." and he peers inside as the chests are opened starting with the Raven chest and then moving to Wolf and then finally Mink.

Blue Jay |

Yeah sorry I was thinking there were 3 chests but if only one chest then yes he will try using all three keys in that order "one for all" and then in the reverse order "all for one" and see if there are any additional effects like secret compartments or the like.
Edit And no I dont mean he will use one key and take it out. He will insert all three keys at once and turn them in that order.

Martlin Tigersoul |

"Interesting. I propose we each take a key then and use this chest for anything of collective interest as we will all be able to open in." Picking up the Wolf Key he adds, "I favor this one myself."
edit: after the avenues of experimentation are completed of course XD

Arvalis |

walking over he picks up a nice Emerald green cloak trimmed in gold, an ornate pouch, and a masterwork backpack. Picking up the mink key he turns it over in his hands while pondering the chest.
multiple keys... maybe multiple people turning a key will bring different results?

Martlin Tigersoul |

Quirking his lips slightly, "Well the horses won't pack themselves. I already asked. If you'll give me a hand I'm sure we can figure out how to break it all down though. I kind of started on the packhorse but alas I honestly don't know which end is which for any of this." It almost looks like it pains him to say he doesn't know something...

GM Moshado |

Blue Jay: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
Smokey: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14

Martlin Tigersoul |

Martlin ponders what he knows about the River Kingdoms, their leadership and their relationship with Brevoy nobility. Knowledge Geography and Nobility, History: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23At the very least I'll be clear of the border, regardless, pretty much have to go before they catch up to me. Would be plenty good to rub their faces in it, taking their charter and using it for my own ends. "I believe that is a capitol idea! We should go at once!" Martlin gets excited about the prospect the longer he thinks about it.

Arvalis |

Nodding he stared off into the woods...
I know I am tired of working for some penny pinching skin flint, risking my life for just enough to live on... might be nice to be in the group calling the shots... to take a chance on improving my life.
Smiling at the exuberance of the wizard he chuckled..
Maybe we should just try to pack up what we can in the chest and the back packs... then tomorrow we can figure out what goes on what pack horses and then head out?

Blue Jay |

Blue Jay will say,"I would temper my excitement if I were you... keep in mind that we are not the first owners of the writ nor are we the second. The original owner passed it along and then those owners met what appears to be an untimely end. If we are not prudent and careful then we shall find ourselves in the same exact position. Agreed?"
He thinks to himself:

Smokey Kit |

Smokey would look at them as they come to a decision. "Well if we are staying the night here I claim that tent." She said pointing to the one to the west. I can help bundle things up for you. I suggest putting all the horses in the paddock and we settle. I don't have much so I can carry what I have on myself. We now have plenty of horses. So what is going to go into the chest?"

Blue Jay |

He says,"Ultimately it doesn't matter... the chest almost feels like a joke or more likely a kind of friendly pact... fill the chest with something important. Something more valuable than mere loot. Lock the chest and bury it somewhere safe... once the pact has been completed, any of the three can come claim the prize. More often than not, that prize is more symbolic than valuable though some would have you believe otherwise. It is what stories are made of... and we hold in our hands the physical representation of that... but if really must know what goes within, then I would suggest anything... and in fact... since we shall not be heading out tonight, I think I shall play with it some more."
He will open the chest using his own key and he will place a set of noble's clothing in the chest and he will close it and waiting for the click. Then he will ask,"Pray do me a favor Arvalis. Would you be so kind as to open the chest for me and retrieve the clothing I placed in there? I worry that over using these delicate keys might cause it some harm..."
