I think we're leveling up when DW decides we've reached a benchmark.
I'm fine with you taking the bow, too- Pavel would be better off saving for a longbow, or a mighty longbow down the line and you're more likely to want a shortbow for shooting from horseback.

Sorin Saldward |

If we do a straight divide on the sold wealth, I get about 225gp per person. Does that jive with what you got?

Raith Shadar |

At some point we can chip in for a cure wand for Garand. I think a few potions can get us buy right now or perhaps Sorin can make a few scrolls for Garand. I think you can make a few a day with Scribe Scroll.
You all saw that TCB already sold and divided the treasure?
Each of us got:
278 gold
3 silver
2 copper
I think Izumi and Pavel should each take a CLW potion since my AC is higher.

Sorin Saldward |

Sorin is going to burn through his cash making scrolls like a crazy person after we get back from the swamp. Keeping Raith in mage armor should work out awesomely.

Raith Shadar |

I gave the fireworks to Belor. Took them off my character. Adjusted my gold down to 222 gold. Does anyone need to buy equipment? I'd rather wait an extra day and go well-equipped than go off unprepared. For the most part I'm ready. I could probably use some general adventuring gear like rope and the like. Do we have to wait around for that too or can we hit the general store for other than magic goods?

Izumi Chosokate |

If we're not chomping at the bit, Izumi will probably go buy some better armor with the money. Also, 300gp from the fireworks means another 60gp each, which puts us back within 5gp of the original estimate.
Also, since Garand hasn't shown any interest in the bow, Izumi will claim it.

Sorin Saldward |

Looking at it Sorin would stay an extra day...spend some gold to create scrolls. That would make him much more effective. 2 hours per 1st level scroll creation at 25gp per scroll (plus materials).
So if we need a day to shop, lets do it properly.

Raith Shadar |

Cool. I'm down for the extra day.
I'm also want Raith to start learning some ranger skills from Pavel. I might multiclass him into ranger as the campaign progresses. I can't much see Raith learning Tongue of the Sun and Moon or Timeless Body later on. I'd rather take his last four levels as ranger levels if that day ever comes.
TCB, if you can maybe work in a Chicken Saber down the line, I wanted to eventually have Raith pick up that weapon. I like the way it looks and would like to have Raith wield it down the line. But I want it to appear as an organic choice even though I'm planning for it as a player.

Sorin Saldward |

So are we staying or going? I think that our boss is hinting that we should get a move on. Sorin is eager to get back to the swamp and look for more clues.
Quick shopping list: a waterproof bag for his spell book. I am assuming that the standard scroll case is water resistant, but cannot be immersed for long periods?
If we stay the second day Sorin would put the time in to make 4 or 5 scrolls.

Izumi Chosokate |

I believe tomorrow would be a good time to leave. One day's rest is plenty, especially now that the shopping is done.
Shopping List:
Total spent - 332gp (if not getting paid for fireworks, 272)
Remaining gold: 18/8 depending on fireworks thing.
Also, a question on your Minkai, DW. Do they oft-use honourifics when speaking, as Japan does? I'm sure Izumi would've been raised with them if that's the case, even if he forgets to use them from time to time.

Raith Shadar |

Raith is the equivalent of a two weapon guy with Flurry of Blows. If you feel like making a big basher with a two-handed weapon, I can't say as it would hurt. It's always nice to have one guy that can bring the pain with heavy blows.
That being said make Pavel in the way that would be most fun for you.

Izumi Chosokate |

If we're allowed to redo our builds slightly (as DW has hinted), I'll be dropping my Str to 17, distributing those points to Int most likely. My current feat choice is technically illegal (TWF needs 15 dex, as I didn't realize, thought it was 13).
Depends what DW lets us do. Shield Specialization is another route I've considered.

Raith Shadar |

I'm not sure what I'm doing with my build at the moment. I think I might focus on general fighting ability right now. Boost the strength. I don't want to focus too much a single combat maneuver chain because I've notice CMDs outpace CMB by quite a bit as you rise in level. Though the ruling that enhancement bonus on weapons such as unarmed strikes helps CMB for things like sunder, disarm, and grapple does make a particular path more attractive.
I'm used to playing in games where we roll stats in a very favorable way, which means the enemies also have very favorable stats. Maybe in a point buy campaign where the enemies stats are also built off point buy, combat maneuvers will be more effective. I might try to follow a combat maneuver path.

Izumi Chosokate |

Yeah I have to agree with you. Combat Maneuvers tend to lose out to CMD as stats increase (as both Str and Dex get higher), but there are feats to counteract that, and monsters with both high str and dex tend to have lower BAB (usually a 3/4 progression).
You have to build for combat maneuvers to be really good at them.

Now would be a good time, though I will allow it officially as you reach level 2. You have run the character and have a better sense for it and for the others.

I did Izumi's rework. Here's the list of stuffs:
Str dropped to 17 (frees up 3 points)
Int increased to 13 (1 point)
Cha increased to 14 (2 points)
Switched TWF for Combat Expertise
Also... I'm looking for a mountless cavalier variant, as I don't see Izumi as a mounted figher. It just doesn't seem like it would fit his character (and also, mounts cause alot of problems).
If anyone knows of any 3rd party cavalier archetypes that lose the mount, let me know (currently the only paizo official is the Musketeer, and... just no xD).

Take the mount, man. From what I understand we're going to be traveling soon, it will give you a chance to use the mount. It's no different than Garand having a bear companion.
Don't short change yourself with a class ability. If Dreaming Warforged didn't intend for you to have a mount, he would have not picked a cavalier player to begin with.
If you want to take an archetype that lessens the impact of the mount and picks it up later, then take Standard Bearer. No mount until 5th level and gives you something in exchange for taking the mount later.
Maybe do as James says. You're Lawful Good. You can multi-class as a fighter or even a paladin. And be Ameiko's hero in shining armor.
Ameiko would love her shining paladin knight.

Izumi Chosokate |

All good advice. I'm a little hesitant on the fighter front. Mostly cause I find the fighter class to be a bit bland.
Raith's probably right, the Mount will probably come in handy. (Already have the standard bearer archetype, hah XD).
Paladin might be an idea, but that would split the levels between smite and challenge... not sure. I'll probably just stick with single class cavalier and use the mount.

The Celestial Bureaucracy |
I would accept the Hound Master archetype. If you see a way to blend it with standard bearer, by all means make a proposal.

Sorin Saldward |

I agree, take the horse. Most folks don't appreciate the impact of a mounted charge with lance. Mounted combat in outdoor environments is an incredible force multiplier.

Izumi Chosokate |

My only thought would be the engravings on the blade would match the Chosokate clan's mon (of which I can provide a design later tonight if you wish), with the Kaijustu mon antecediary to it (more prominent on the blade). Beyond that, you may run with it.
