Xan-Tei Shun |
Xan-Tei moves into the room slightly, drawing his bow as he sees the mixture in the vats. He looks to the others with a raised brow as if asking them to figure out what the purpose of the room is.
Sifvery Moon |
I don't have any of the skills needing rolls, but I don't think I need them to know that this isn't good.
"Let's go up to the balcony and get a better view from above."
GM V |
When you move around to get a look at the balcony you notice an elf who seems to have been waiting for you. He then begins to cast a spell.

Pip the fated |
Pip quickly moves into the room as the draws her short bow, looking up to draw a bead on the elf above on the balcony. "This can't be good. Bakten, anyone you know?" The half-orc utters a short prayer to Chadali to invoke her luck, then shoots an arrow to disrupt the elf's concentration.
Attack +Hero +Luck: 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 7 + 2 + 3 = 24
Damage +Luck: 1d6 + 5 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 5 + 3 = 13
Sifvery Moon |
What's he casting?
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Sifvery trains a cold-iron arrow on the elf, and says "Don't cast that spell..." And she tries to detect evil.
If she detects evil, she will use her Smite Evil here.
Attack, Deadly Aim: 1d20 + 8 - 1 ⇒ (13) + 8 - 1 = 20 +3 if evil
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 +4 if an outsider with the evil subtype, an evil-aligned dragon, or an undead creature
Xan-Tei Shun |
Xan will fire two arrows! I'll step to a better view, wherever that might be.
Flurry: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27 for Arrow: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

Confirm?: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21 for Arrow: 2d8 + 12 ⇒ (5, 8) + 12 = 25
Saren il'Lareth |
In that case, if Zara is 20' tall rather than the 10' she is now, she'll probably be able to climb up easily as she has a climb speed :-D
Saren quickly moves forward, and calls to Zara, preparing to cast a spell upon her as he urges her forward and up. As soon as she reaches him, he lays a hand on her, causing her size to grow twice in size.
For her part, Zara quickly follows his command, scaling the balcony, and spies the caster who appears little more than a tasty snack beneath her serpentine gaze.
Saren moves forward, then readies an action to cast Enlarge Person on Zara when she moves past him. Zara moves forward at his direction, is enlarged, and then climbs up next to the caster.
GM V |
Yes it was
The foe steps back then casts defensively. Moving out of sight for all but the snake.
Concentration: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (10) + 14 = 24
A area of dispair erupts from him! [ooc]Need a DC 20 will save from Zara or she becomes panicked.
The other foes ready.

Pip the fated |
Pip utters a little rhyme, working magic as she does so. "Flee, flee, far away. Live to fight another day." She smiles apologetically to her companions. "Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere."
Dropping her bow in lieu of her longsword, she bounds up the stairs, aided by her magic that makes each step carry her the length of two.
Cast Expeditious retreat, then move up the stairs to the right while drawing my sword. I've put my token where I could end with my movement speed. However, there's a red block that we haven't heard about. If Pip sees a hostile at the top of the stairs, she will stop at 20 foot away from it. (Also, GM: is that really a yeti at the left? You haven't given a description of it at all, so far. Are they hiding, or something?)
Sifvery Moon |
Sif moves up the stairs to the left, and fires at the yellow threat (if it is, indeed, a foe like Pip asks).
Ranged Attack, deadly aim: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Saren il'Lareth |
For his part, Saren quickly casts a spell and disappears from sight before moving to better confuse the enemies. Zara on the other hand, lashes in with her coils at his command, attempting to strike at the man before her.
Saren casts Vanish.
Grapple: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (8) + 19 = 27
Constrict: 1d6 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11
Pip the fated |
When the foe stepped back he wen out of line of sight of those on the first floor. Not that it will matter with him grappled by the snake now. Up to the left there is a headless yeti and the right is a floating group of heads.
Which knowledge roll, if any, can we make to identify these creatures?
Pip the fated |
One is a beheaded Yeti and the other is a Beheaded Swarm. Both undead.
That's all we're getting with three results of 25+? GM, please try to be a little more forthcoming with information. We've been going at this game for over three months now, and it feels to me like we have to drag every piece of information out of you, sometimes waiting several days between posts. I'd really just like to get this done and over with (I'm sad to say).
GM V |
Yes Xan. The arrow hits and the Yeti seems to be holding on by a thread. Kira's Channel finishes the yeti off and utterly destorys the swarm. With Mata Ryuu grappled by the snake it is easy to subdue him.
You head up.
Twin braziers disperse the scent of jasmine oil throughout this bedchamber. A yeti pelt is draped over a futon near an arcane circle carved into the floor. North of the circle, a teak box overflows with jade figurines. A hollow in the eastern wall is bordered with a marble carving of wolves stalking a hare amid grave markers. Words are carved in a spiraling script around the hollow.
Perception checks and know Arcana, planes or UMD on the circle please.
Pip the fated |
Does Mata Ryuu have anything to say? Does Bakten have anything to say about the situation?
Perception: 1d20 + 11 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 11 + 2 + 2 = 20 (Extra +2 to locate hidden objects)
Knowledge Arcana: 1d20 + 13 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 13 + 2 + 2 = 20
Knowledge Planes: 1d20 + 10 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 10 + 2 + 2 = 22
Use Magic Device: 1d20 + 10 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 10 + 2 + 2 = 15
Duh, look at those rolls. O_o

GM V |
You all detect crushed jade dust within its grooves and recognize that the arcane circle can be used to produce a portal, and can create the portal with a 1-minute ritual. Saren also knows that the person doing the ritual will be pulled through the portal instantly. These words are around the portal. “Only by destroying my brother could I walk safely into the grave, and emerge before the undead who worship me.”
This hints back to a clue from earlier in the tower. Other wise do you attempt the ritual?
GM V |
You are here to defeat a splintered reincarnation of Bakten Eariler you saw a mural.
In the first panel, Fumeiyoshi is shown sundering a piece of his brother’s
jade armor. Then, the Lord of Envy gloats over his fallen brother with the
shard of jade held high, while in the final panel, Fumeiyoshi thrusts the
shard into an arcane circle where it crumbles to dust, activating a nearby
portal in a graveyard. You also noticed that the torn piece of jade in the second panel resembles a hare. There is a box of figurines made from kade and jade dust and pieces that look like they have been smashed into the portal. Also Xan with your perception you think there is some kind of trap on the portal that activates when it activates. And if you do the ritual you do get pulled through one at a time but the ritual can be done quickly in order so you could go through one round after another.
Xan-Tei Shun |
Sorry for the silence, I was without internet while moving this weekend.
Xan-Tei looks to Silvery and notices what she is trying to accomplish, then sets to doing the same himself.
