No worries. My best wishes of health.

Well, good news! It's NOT a heart attack. They sent me home, but told me to go right to my general practitioner. They did a breathing test and APPARENTLY my airways are restricted (I was wheezing), so they did a breathing test.

...And I failed it horribly. Good news is they gave me a breathing treatment in the office and tested again. Still failed, but my lung function was double what it had been before.

So I'm on an inhaler for two weeks, at which point I go back to the doctor, and they do another breathing test to see. They also told me I'm off work until Sunday, and that I'm required to take it easy at work, for the next two weeks.

So that's a plus. But yep, so I'm alive!

They say it'll be at least 2 weeks, since they're going to test my lung function again then. So, fingers crossed.

Excellent! Have we already talked about how hit points are going to be handled at each level? Roll? PFS style? Max? Half die + 1d half die?

Half+1 I prefer (so d8 gives 5).

It's worth noting I still have my cestus on. I can attack using that instead of my flail assuming there's nothing else to the compulsion.

Can a cestus be dropped? If so, then you would drop it.

I'm not sure. It's a glove that's fitted to my hand and strapped on. I'm not sure how the spell in question would effect that, so its at your discretion.

It's a glove, so you can't drop it. That's fine.

Guys, I'm reviewing many things related to games and life in general.

This game is not working very well, and I'm realizing that it's going somewhere I'm no longer interested in, namely complexity for the sake of it.

I will therefore end it now. I wish I had foreseen this moment before recruiting players and, in hindsight, I should have.

I wish to thank you for the great energy you've committed so far. I had great fun playing with you all.

Perhaps my musing will lead me back to start a new game, albeit quite different, in which case, it would be a great pleasure to play again.

All the best.

Thanks Hope and Despair for a good game. See you all on the boards.

I'm sorry to see it end. I loved the premise of going from the lowest of lows to the highest levels. Thanks for the gaming!

Let me clarify a bit where I currently stand, and perhaps I can find something to work out.

I still love PbP. What has been harder and harder is to keep things challenging, and dealing with the gazillion number of options now available. IMO, the game has reached for me a breaking point. I get a headache when it's time to design a character or an encounter.

Also, I find the AP format to be necessarily railroady. Now, this gets old at some point, and I find the players can get into the: "ok, let's get the clues from this guy that will lead us to the next stage of the module..." That's just not fun.

So more sandboxy, more story-driven, less rule clutter... That's what I'm looking for. If you give me some time to think things through, I might come up with a suggestion. It will still be the epic fight against the demon incursion, but it won't be Mythic 20 levels of fighting. I don't want that. I might come up with something less AP-driven and more player driven, low-level, therefore trickier, and more sandboxy as to what you guys can do or not do.

Let me know what you're thinking about that possibility. That will help my own thinking. I'm not promising anything. I'm struggling with what the game is becoming, or has always been, but I hadn't really lived through.

Well regardless of what happens, thanks for taking the time so far. I can't speak for the others, but your suggestion sounds extremely appealing to me, more so than the 20 levels of mythic railroad.

On a side note, if this does pick up again, I'm kinda worried that Barek is no longer following this...

Kellid (Human) (AC 17/12Tch/15FF, HP 28/28, Fort +4, Ref +3, Will +4, Init +2, Per +4) Lore Warden (Fighter) 3

I for one would still be interested in that sort of game. I have a lot of attachment to this character and wouldn't mind the chance to see him through the whole demon incursion. That said, I totally understand disliking how the AP tends to take things. If you're interested in continuing, I'd love to stick around to see how things go.

One possibility that springs to mind is the play E6/E8. You could then layer mythic over that if you wanted to. That would need to be your call as it IS more rules bloat. I think it might be interesting as it adds a certain 'superhero' quality to things. I think that would capture the 'common guys turned hero' trope as they try to reclaim their lost homeland/gain redemption/etc.

Either way, DW, I've had a blast with you as GM. Thanks for all the work you put into things. :)

Just chiming in to let you know I'm still pondering things...

Guys, after careful thinking, I find myself unable to conjure the time and the will to continue with the game.

For now at least.

Should things improve and I wish to continue, I will send you a PM to gauge your interest.

Many thanks to you all for your commitment to the game. I hope we get to play again.

(I will render the campaign inactive over the weekend.)
