Given your cooky new life, I can let that slide. I just feel that, without good reason, racial spells should, in some way, rely on that races biology to function.

In your case, it probably has trappings of shifting into a humanoid thundercloud of your shape, thanks to Rilee's own influence on things.

Alright, after crunching some numbers I feel I should drop a warning.

I could potentially go all out to nova blast a few times a day, and assuming I roll decently be doing over 300 damage a round to single target....

Forbidding me to take blood intensity mutation would drop that number quite a bit. To crest 300 damage I'd need to hit with 4 attack rolls, potentially beat SR, etc....but I don't want to you to be surprised when Eugeni unleashes all magical hell at some point.


@Thron: In the interest of saving time, is it okay if Jelani and I start Eugeni and Setsuna's dramatic breakup civil dialogue?

Well, there we go folks. Setsuna spills the beans. She tells the full truth and nothing but the truth. I apologize for any typos that I missed, but it took me three hours to cook up that monster post. Just handwave them as Setsuna jumbling her words like a real person would under such stress.

Yeah, so apparently at 13th level, druids get A Thousand Faces (Su): At 13th level, a druid gains the ability to change her appearance at will, as if using the alter self spell, but only while in her normal form.

It just seemed perfect that each time I use it, I'm actually becoming one of my prior incarnations.

Eugeni, you mention spell ideas.

1st, does it makes sense for Eugeni to add Haste to his list. I know Setsuna has BoF on hers, but that's a 4th level spell, and neither lasts a long time. What do yall think?

Specific to Zoli, my one thought is Greater Magic Weapon. Do you have enough slots to cast it 1/day? If so, it'll make Baern's Breath +3 (instead of +1) Holy & Answering. If you can spare the slot, I'll happily pay for you to learn it while we're in Magnimar.

Greater Heroism: Awesome!

G. Magic Weapon: 3rd. Doesn't need to be extended as it's hours/level. If you want the slot for something else, no worries!

Honestly, I think 3rd level slots will be much more valuable as other spells. Don't bother with the GMW, unless you want to grab a scroll or two for situational uses (375gp each I believe).

Sounds reasonable. Between blasts and heroism and haste, you've got a lot to cast in that slot!

Rilee, Z can sell you a Ring of Protection +2 for cost (4K). She was actually planning to hock it on this trip to upgrade her saves.

Hmmmm. Upgrading her elf cloak to include +3 resistance will take 10 days. I don't think we want another delay right now, do we? Assuming not...my other way of improving saves would be to buy a Ring of Resilience (and Dunner Butterhill is generally my purveyor of All Things Swashbuckely)...but I'm once again short cash for it. Anyone want to spot me 4,200 GP? (If no one has the extra cash, no worries, I'm sure we'll be back soon now that we can teleport...)


As per my discussion with Zoli on Roll 20, I purchased a Page of Spell Knowledge - Level 1 for Shield of Faith for 1,000 gp.

Setsuna will also be casting Magic Vestment on Zoli's buckler (or was it her armor?) each day for a +3 total enhancement bonus.


Before anyone posts, it seems that Rilee is going to cast Fairy Ring Retreat (a.k.a. Druid's Magnificent Mansion) to give us a safe place to retreat, heal, and buff on our own terms before we engage this dragon.

Just remembered, I'm immune to fear Thron. So don't roll for frightful presence on me again...that -2 from shaken could make a big difference.

Assuming we have 2 hours before big D gets back, I saw we
- spend upwards of an hour searching for his home. (Maybe possible by Rilee with +27 survival +scent?)
- find a spot for an ambush--either in his home or somewhere else with concealment
- ambush when he gets close
- remember that he can probably see as well as we can--or better--so he may see us as soon as we can see him...but we might still have a few rounds for short duration buffs at that point (since seeing specks is easier than hearing voices at a distance...especially with the wind whipping in his ears as he flies).

He has dragon senses, so he definitely has us beat in that category.


Just as a heads up, in case it affects your plans...

Just because you do not touch a surface does not mean you won't leave a scent. By that logic, you wouldn't be able to smell a cake baking in the kitchen because it hasn't touched the floor in the living room.


Looks like you're right there, but flying still means that we aren't leaving tracks on the ground to tip him off, so any scent abilities he has should only apply within the standard 30 feet.

It's also moot in that dragons don't have scent as the ability either. They have blindsense at a greater range than the scent ability.


As Eugeni has already stated he is going out of town, if combat happens while he is away, I appoint either Stalwart or CDL to run him as opposed to me DMPC'ing him.

How does a bull rush attempt interact with a grapple?


That's a good question.

Considering that the stone wall stops him, I don't think anything would happen.

Without that wall, I think he'd go flying.


@Thron: I misread Empower spell. It gives a flat *1.5 bonus to the final number; it doesn't add dice.

Original Math:
Force Damage: 7d6 + 14 ⇒ (5, 2, 1, 3, 2, 2, 4) + 14 = 33
Force Damage: 7d6 + 14 ⇒ (3, 5, 3, 6, 3, 4, 5) + 14 = 43
Force Damage: 7d6 + 14 ⇒ (3, 4, 2, 5, 4, 6, 5) + 14 = 43
Force Damage: 7d6 + 14 ⇒ (1, 3, 6, 2, 3, 2, 3) + 14 = 34

Total Damage: 33 + 43 + 43 + 34 = 153

Corrected Math:
23 * 1.5 = 34
30 * 1.5 = 45
28 * 1.5 = 42
25 * 1.5 = 37

Total Damage: 34 + 45 + 42 + 37 = 158

So New-geni would've done 5 more damage. Huh. I thought I would do less.


I think unintensified it caps at 5d6 per orb, then intensified raises it, no?


Correct. For the first round, Eugeni used Dazing Empowered Battering Blast, so it would be capped at 5d6. However, I misread Empowered and thought it added 1.5 dice (5 dice * 1.5 = ~7 dice) instead of being a 1.5 multiplier to the unempowered result.

Track where the dragon flew in the morning via Rilee, then if we don’t find the key use the quill, if that also fails teleport to Riddleport/Magnimar for commune and/or other spell supplies.

I'm not sure how much time is left in the day, but I was planning to see what I can learn from the elementals then fly off to the village to see if there's any survivors in need.
