I will be looking to restart sometime next week. I am on vacation now, returning this weekend.

Currently on my way to China for 10 days for business. Not sure how much I'll be able to post, but I'm definitely ready to play again.

I hope nobody was really looking forward to slugging it out with that bog mummy. That just didn't seem like a good way to get this moving again.

To recap: The party is in the festering swamps of Souraigne. You are seeking the ancient relic Harag's Skull, said to be in the possession of the necromancer Monerre. Harag's Skull appears to be of interest to the vampires of the Crimson Court, particularly one by the name of Tetslin, as they relate to a ritual of the Grey Gates.

Seeking out Monerre, you became lost in the swamp when your guide Leclerc the Fishmonger went mad with a parasitic infection which ultimately devoured his brain. The mystical witch-doctor Chickenbone helped you find your way, but also warned you that something was preying upon the swamp natives.

You arrived in the necropolis and sneaked past some zombies with a hide from undead spell, and made your way into a chapel cellar where you are seeking Monerre's lair.

Is Acorn still around to run the other 3?

yup, I was mostly just moving them when needed though, as I don't know how to role play the characters.

Sorry I've been posting a little slower. Life has been truly hectic lately, and will be for another week or so. Thanks for hanging in there.

I read the negative level description, but I can't tell if the 5th level Su abilities for paladin would be removed from Leandro or not. It says level-dependent variables are lower by the number of levels, but not the spells available or spell slots. It doesn't talk about Su. I'm interested in using the Divine Bond with the armor in this fight. As far as I can see, it is available, but would last only 4 minutes instead of 5 because of the negative level.

GM, your ruling?

I believe energy drain only provides the penalties listed. It is not like older editions where you have to literally delevel. Skill points, feats, and class abilities are all retained. Any level-dependent checks for them will be at a penalty though.

Sorry for the lull. The next week or so may still be busy-ish, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel!

I've got my children for the next week so posting might be an issue - please bot my PC when necessary. I'll try to post once a day but the little darlings are on holiday.

It's nice playing a paladin. Decisions are generally clear-cut.

If it seems like I am pushing things along this week, it is because I am. We are going to have some casting changes, and I am trying to move along to that point. Feel free to react to your departure from the necropolis and the destruction of the tapestry, but then I may breeze over your travel so that I can bring in the new PCs.

While you are leveling and such, I am hoping you all can help me a bit on the history of this campaign. As players, it is easy to forget, but the characters themselves would never do so: who all was bitten by a lycanthrope?

Before the game went on hiatus, the PCs talked about their trepidation frequently, but since then you've been focused on Monerre.

I located the post where Eliva was bitten by a werewolf, and I see one where Leandro states that three PCs were bitten by wererats, but I can't recall which 3 (and of course I have to go back and look at saving throws). If someone knows, it will save me a bunch of time scanning through hundreds of posts for those occurrences.

I may have made the save that time, but missed another. Tybalt, Andrzej, and Leandro all failed saves vs lycanthropy against the wererats. >_<

Are any of Nathanial's original companions still with us? I was going to post, but figured it'd be more natural for Angalia or Tiff or Eliva or Res - yeah, Res is still with us - to have a stronger and more immediate reaction to Nathanial waiting for them. I'd also like to explain IC where the missing ones went, but can't remember and haven't read that far yet...
