The morning after.

Lachen stays alone.

Another day starting with the shaving.
How easy it would be to rip his own throat open with the sharp razor.
But who would have win the game?
His human side..or The Other?
It would be sooo easy to cut a little bit of the saddle of the slip.
Perhaps it would have the delicious pleasure to see him fall to his death?
How tempting.
Everyday a power game.
Each morning, the Other win and forces him to shave, knowing he hates it.
It's a small victory.
But a victory all the same.
And Lachen hates it.
*Hate* *Anger* *Shame* *Distrust* *Power*

I am a man. I am human.
The voice is low and growling.
Heat in his hands.

Heat... Hate. Nearly the same words. I hope you enjoy the irony, Lachen. You got to discipline yourself to stay human. And all the Hells be frozen, how you HATE discipline.

He cuts his own cheek with the razor.. and smiles at the sudden pain.

Let's go to hunt. Just you and me. Let's find something big, and kill it.

He talks alone.
He walks alone.
He sleeps alone.

Survival: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25

His head suddenly jerks on the side.
His eyes are like twin black holes.

The boy. A spy from the elf? Maybe he has heard? Should we kill it? No, kill the elf first... slowly. Painfully. These folks need a powerful leader. Lachen, killer of men, conqueror of thrones, worshipped by women... how sweet does that sound?

He puts his hands around a stone, trying to regain control
Less sweet than the laugh of Lenneth. Less sweet that her skin under my lips. Less sweet that the first time she will kiss me... I thought she could help me staying alive; now I realise she can help me staying human. I'll thwarth you. Each and every day, in each and every way possible.

@At the fire

Melo moves closer to Valex is he speaks of his order. "This is all quite fascinating, so what you're saying is your order... or what came before them saw something like this coming? or at least were prepared for it?" He ponders a moment. "Esoteric Order of the Palatine Eye, if all this is true could they still be out there? your order? If we could work out where the other points of power are maybe they're in better shape than the castle you came from."

@Late at night.
Melo returns from his patrol, happy to find nothing but also confused. Somethings not right, but what Lilith.. we should count this a blessing. As he makes his way back to camp he checks on everyone, spotting Lenneth and Lenchen together he smiles and continues on to set up a bed for Cyn and him.

@Morning

He rises early still not used to his old body he stretches and climbs to his feet, holding Cyn close he strokes her. They haven't been in a fight for almost three days now it might be better for the group but Cyn is starting to grown restless. "Relax sister, today we'll find something for you to sink your teeth into."

Before he decides to set off to look for food, he decides to continue to introduce himself around the camp when he sets upon Lenneth. "Good morning Lenneth, we haven't really had a chance to talk since we're going to be spending time with each other i wanted to speak to each of you separately." Cyn prowls around from behind him and moves in between them she looks Lenneth up and down then plops herself down in front of her. "She's taken a liking to you. Thats good, we've been alone so long she doesn't like around big groups of people anymore. Smiling he moves to sit next to Cyn. "You have a big group here, and they seem to look up to you and Lilith. Strong leadership is needed if we're to get all these people to safety."

Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15

Survival take 10 for survival 24 - Not sure if it's worth rolling when i could roll 1.

@ Melo

"I would dearly, dearly hope that some remnant, even one other member, of the Order remains. But I know that the few in Magnimar - and we were never numerous - either were hunted down quickly, or succumbed to despair. I was...well, new, probably not considered enough of a threat to be noteworthy." He pauses, sighs.

"It seems likely that the paintings are not something that the order created, but an ancient magic that they discovered.

The Order was formed in Ustalav, but I doubt that any remain in the Tyrant's playground..."

Since we're moving on, I'm going to put the rest of the Lenneth-Lachen conversation in spoilers so as not to clutter my posts. Feel free to keep reading, though!

Night Chat:

To her own surprise, Lenneth finds that Lachen's attentions now do not really bother her, though she does flush red when he whispers into her ear. Though by no means a wide-eyed innocent, the pursuit of physical pleasure had been one of the farthest things from her mind ever since the world had changed.

"Not good, not evil...just like my own powers," she smiles darkly. "I can heal, but that healing is powered by darkness and not light. You saw how the device in Solace rejected the power I poured into it. So maybe you're right...maybe all we can do is take each day at a time. Survive. Do our best for the people we care about." Even in the semi-darkness she can see Lachen's expression change as she mentions caring for people. "Don't give me that look, Lachen. Maybe you don't care for anyone other than yourself, but I do. The others are my friends, the only thing I have left besides Indigo. Maybe we have to make hard decisions now if we want to survive, but...too many of the wrong ones and you'll be alone. If that's what you want, I can't stop you. But it's not what I want. I don't want to be alone."

She moves to sit closer to Lachen, trembling slightly - though whether from the chill in the air or something else is not entirely clear. "Look...even though I'll say that I'm not exactly inexperienced with carnal pleasures, it's not something that's crossed my mind much since things changed. If you want to hold someone, to be held...I can at least do that. Anything else, well...we'll see. Since we're being completely honest here," she says as her lips twitch with what might be a smile.

As the group slowly begins to stir and make ready for another day of marching and food-gathering, Lenneth is unusually quiet as she goes about packing up her meager possessions. She occasionally steals a glance over at Lachen, but something in his demeanor prevents her from approaching him.

He always keeps to himself in the morning. I wonder why?

With a small sigh, she turns her attention back to her gear and to Indigo. "How are you feeling today? Better, I hope? I promise, it won't be much longer and we'll have a more proper place to rest - though Lilith's shelters really seemed to have helped last night. Otherwise I think we would have woken up to more than a few cold bodies this morning..." she whispers to the cat. Stealing another glance over at Lachen, she adds, "What...what do you think of him? I don't...I don't know that I like him, but I'm starting to feel drawn to him. And I don't know if that's a good thing or not," she sighs. "I guess there's no point in worrying about it right now though. We've got another day ahead of us."

Her whispered conversation to Indigo is interrupted as Melo and Cyn approach. Looking up, she smiles wanly at the pair. "Good morning Melo, Cyn - did you both sleep well last night?" When the lioness plops down in front of her, she smiles a more genuine smile and very cautiously holds her hand out for Cyn to sniff, though she does not make any move to attempt to pet or otherwise touch her. "I like her too - she's got personality. Just like Skyfall and Indigo. It's funny...so many people seem to think that animals are just dumb beasts with no personality or sense of self other than survival. How wrong they are!" When Melo mentions how the group seems to view her as well as Lilith, she frowns slightly and shakes her head. "I think Lilith is more of a leader than I, but I try my best. But you're right...these people need a leader or leaders, to keep them moving, to give them hope. I never realized how important that was until we lost our friend Polonius. He always had a plan, helped to keep us moving. It's been...hard, very hard to not have his leadership...or his friendship." She sighs and wipes at her eyes, which had been slowly tearing up. "All I can do is try to keep moving and to help the others as much as I can."

As the group sets out, Lenneth once more spends the majority of her time foraging for food for the group as well as acting as a lookout for trouble.

The extra fortifications and body heat seem to finally do the trick and Indigo seems much more like his usual self upon waking the next morning. As he sits grooming himself, he listens as Lenneth shares some of her inner thoughts and turmoil with him regarding Lachen. After a pause, he looks up.

"He seems complicated. Lilith already told you to be careful; all I can say is that if his goals and ours are the same then we have no quarrel."

Of course all that anyone else who is close enough might happen to hear from the cat is simply a series of short meows and chirrups.

Skyfall cuts through the air just above the tops of the trees like an arrow. At one point a flock of birds bursts out of the upper branches in terror at the sudden cruciform shape that falls upon them.

She tilts her body down and with talons raised snatches two out of the air, barely a snack really, but Flynn pats her neck regardless.

Aye, keep your strength up, girl. We don't know what we're going to find here and if these folks aren't receptive to outsiders we might need to fight or fly our way out in short order.

Flynn
It takes most of the day, but finally you spot movement under the trees a little further ahead, almost to the village. A small group moving at speed.

How are you going to trail them, from the sky or the ground? It's maybe an hour til dusk.

Main group

Tabitha and Ashleigh are more withdrawn than Valex remembers, but both greet him warmly, seemingly glad of his return from the dead. They both turn in early though, and Valex suspects they probably want to have a quiet talk with each other.

Things are going well as the day begins, Lilith finding an entire bush with ripe nuts to pick, and thankfully saving Valex from plucking a poisonous mushroom from the lee of one felled tree you pass. Lachen's keen eyes pick out a pair of squirrels sunning themselves on a branch a short ways away, one thrown trident later there is meat to add to the pot tonight.

The sun is getting low in the sky and surely the end of the forest, and the village itself, can't be far away. There is a creaking noise beneath your boots, and the ground seems to fall away from you

This entire clearing has multiple, very well camouflaged pits, so all please make a Reflex save DC 20 or fall 50 feet taking 5d6 damage

Lachen you somehow managed to spot one of the trenches before it triggered, your warning shout gives everyone a +2 on their saves, and you can pick someone who is about to fall in and save them, your choice of who...

Can I push Lilith in a hole instead? (just kidding.^^). More seriously, should I roll a (Reflex) save too? Let's see who fail his/her save, I'll tell you if I save them. First choice would be Lenn, of course.

Beware of the deep holes! And it's not a naughty joke this time!

:O ;p

You spotted the trap so don't have to roll the save...

Too late, Lenneth hears Lachen's shout of warning as the ground suddenly gives way beneath her feet.

A startled shriek escapes her and a loud yowl from Indigo can be heard, but instead of plummeting into the pit she instead begins to slowly float downwards as though she were simply dust in the wind.

Activating the Feather Fall aspect of the Flight hex, which can be done at will. If anyone else happens to be within arms reach and falls, she'll try to grab hold of them if she can react in time. Orrr...they can try to grab hold of her as they fall.

*edit* Holy hell, 50 feet deep pits!? I sense magical shenanigans!

The previous night

Having picked up the trail of the humanoids that came this way, Flynn lands and dismounts. He takes up his lance like a spear and begins reading the signs of passage on the ground.

Four of them. Not to be messed with either if that steaming thing back there is anything to judge by. Not used to the wilderness though...

He whispers to Skyfall to Guard and she blinks her understanding.

She takes off and in the dimming light he can see he flapping slow, concentric circles around the area, providing overwatch.

Good girl! he thinks, swelling with pride.

Stealth: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28

Meanwhile, Flynn takes advantage of the last of the daylight to sneak after the creatures toward the village, pausing at the treeline and trying to get a feel for the place, the amount of buildings, residents, guards, positions and so on.

Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (16) + 13 = 29

Lenneth, as you've used feather fall instead of the flight aspect, falling straight down, albeit slowly, means no-one is within reach for you, and you watch as several others plummet in to the depths of the rough-edged pit.

knowledge (engineering) or (geography) DC 18:
The walls of this pit, or trench, or whatever it is, are rough and old-looking. It strikes you that this is more akin to a natural crevice in the earth, perhaps caused by earthquake or flash flood perhaps, that has been utilised by someone as part of a concealed trap

Flynn
You are sure your steps are as quiet as a shadow as you approach the group traveling ahead of you. They stop just inside the edge of the treeline, evidently checking out the village much as Flynn is doing himself. The village looks run down and deserted, the houses are weather-battered and look as if nature is trying to re-assert herself slowly. Tall patches of grass sway in a gentle wind, and the nearest structure creaks ominously.

The noise causes a burst of frenzied whispering from the group ahead, and several stick their heads up to assess the situation. Flynn is able to get a good look at each of the group members before they hunker back down. There's a bow-carrying man wearing moss-colored studded-leather, a red-headed woman wrapped up in a mauve cloak, a constantly-squinting auburn-haired man in a threadbare olive robe and a halfling male carrying what can only be described as a small tree-trunk, wrapped with chains. They currently appear to be arguing with each other in angry whispers, gesturing fiercely at the village.

Catch Lenneth, as Gm said I could ^^

The black haired woman feels the ground suddenly disappearing under her feet, and for a second starts to scream while she falls

Then, as she is already up to the waist into the deep pit and feeling the gravity calling her, someone grabs her, strong arms crossed under her shoulders, rude man's hands on her breasts

An out of breath voice says in her ear
Grabbed you where I could... Won't say I'm sorry.

The voice of Lachen.
The man is on his belly, right at the pit's edge

Is your cat fine?

Bummer and yeah, I wasn't sure if the Fly aspect was at will or if it had to be cast as per the spell so I went with Feather Fall instead.

Lenneth cries out again, first with dismay as she sees and hears several others tumbling into the pits around her, and then with surprise and a bit of pain as she suddenly finds herself no longer floating downward but suspended awkwardly in Lachen's arms. "Fine! He's in the pack!" she gasps, trying to fight the urge to flail and squirm. "Pull me up!"

Sorry for the late post, busy/computer problems.

"We slept well we've also slept outdoors and with Cyn here she keeps me warm." He moves down to stroke her head. "I don't think i could like someone who doesn't understand animals they're all different they're just like us each has their own personality as you said. Cyn is harmless, she's a little nervous around the bigger groups of people but we've been alone so long she's just got used to it."He then smiles as Lenneth talks of her trying her best. "I'm sorry about your friend, we've all lost a lot of good people I'm sure he would be proud of the way your helping your people. What you have here is working everyone is pitching in together im just so used to having a pack leader someone who knows what must be done for the betterment of the pack. It's been strange to work alone that is tell i found a new pack." He looks around at everyone moving about the camp. "I had a good feeling about you Lenneth, you and this group will go far my only hope is to help you get there."

Moving forward with the rest of the group, Melo feels something is off with the clearing but continues on as he takes his next step he instantly feels the ground fall beneath him.

EARLIER THAT MORNING

"Thank you Melo...the vote of confidence means a lot," Lenneth replies, eyes brightening. "I'm glad we stumbled across each other. Same for Flynn and Skyfall and...and Lachen too," she continues, though her smile falters slightly as she speaks Lachen's name. "Let's get moving, shall we?"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Thank you Lachen," Lenneth pants, her tone sincere. "I would have been okay, my powers won't allow me to just drop like a stone - but you didn't know that."
Quickly, she takes stock of the situation as Lachen keeps his eyes open. "Whoever or whatever made these, I hope they're not at home right now. We need to try and get everyone out and fast! I can take flight for a short period of time and maybe carry some of the lighter ones back up, but the heavier ones...we'll need to use rope."
"Is everyone okay? Call out if you can hear me!" she adds, raising her voice so that those in the pits can hear her.
Who/how many fell into the pits besides Valex, Lil and Melo?
As Lenneth thanks him
When I thought about you falling into my arms, I never envisioned it like that. But hey, a man gotta grab his chance! And I got quite lucky, I had a full hand right away...
Then he listen to her
So you can fly? Can you use the spell on someone else? Cause I could fly and pick up the people who survived. I'm stronger than it seems, when you're talking about carrying weight.But if there is too many people injured down there, we'll need to make choices, again.
He looks at Lenneth
Cause let's face it, I doubt your magic will work long enough, and I don't want to fall down myself. This big hole in the ground might be a giant's privy, and the situation is crappy enough...
He visibly tries to make Lenneth smile, even in this dangerous situation.
Lilith gets to her feat and casts a healing spell on herself. As he wounds begin to close she chastises herself mentally. You are a fool for not spotting that trap Lilith. You are the group's spotter and should have seen that a mile away. When she hears Lenneth call out she answers I am here. I am a little shook up but I think I will mend. I think I can see Melo down here. He looks shaken too but otherwise not too injured.
Flynn
Both you and the other group watch for a good half an hour, whilst they argue among themselves the whole time in angry whispers.
There does not seem to be any sign of movement aside from the tall grass, no lights, no sense that anyone calls this place home at the moment. Finally the halfling snorts loudly and begins to move off, the others hurredly scramble to keep up, but it looks like they are splitting up in to two groups of two, and one of those pairs is coming straight for you as they evidently intend to circle the vilage and meet on the other side. They'll be walking right by your hiding place in under a minute...
Main group
Lenneth: the flight hex is as per the fly spell albeit using the default rule of 'if it doesn't say then it's a standard action to activate'!
Looking around, those still on the surface can see about half the tribe are still standing, likely because they were trailing behind you, however many of them have plummeted in to the depths along with your comrades.
The twilight of near-nightfall combined with the 50 ft trench leaves it pitch black for those who have fallen in. There are cries of pain and fear both from above and from down in the depths, some of them must still live!
Then you hear the other groaning... that which you have come to fear and hate this last year... your hearts sink as you realise what else must be down in the trench, trapped along with your friends...
Combat begins
Initiative: Players then groaners
No-one in the pit can currently see any of the rest of your tribe, you can however hear their screams echo around the earth...
"Discussing my endowments can wait; we need to work fast here. I can't grant anyone else the ability to fly - for whatever reason, that power only seems to work on me. But it can still let me carry more than I could otherwise."
"First we need to get Lilith, Valex and Melo so they can help us pull the others ou-" she begins as she turns to peer into the pit. However, her heart leaps into her throat as she hears the screams and familiar sounds for groaners coming from below.
"S***! We have to do something!" Quickly, she mutters an incantation and four small orbs of light pop into existence and float down into the pit to better illuminate the area.
To be clear, has Lilith stood and cast her healing spell before combat begins? Also I will need to know the lighting now that Lenneth has cast her spell. Flynn is going to stay put. He is prone, the light is growing dim and none of these have darkvision and by the looks of them arguing wouldn't want to draw attention to themselves from the village by lighting a torch or casting light. I'm hoping all that counts in Flynn's favour for not being spotted.
Stealth: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23
Once they pass by, Flynn will wait a few minutes before calling for Skyfall and finding a safe place to rest and observe the village at dawn.
Flynn
As the pair come closer you hunker down, there is a *snap* as a twig makes tha pair suddenly turning this way and that, before one shoves the other and they curse between themselves quietly, moving past Flynn without a second glance.
Skyfall somes quietly, and you're able to find a decent sized tree with plenty of branches to hide up for the night.
Main group
Melo: Yes you can tell which direction the screams are coming from yes
Lilith: Consider all your posts prior to me starting combat to be pre-combat, it took a short while for the enemy to notice you and rouse themselves to seek your tender flesh to feed upon...
Lilith and possibly Lachen to act
Waiting for Lenn's post to know what I do/say
Lenneth already cast a spell this round so we'll leave Lachen as delaying till next round then
Lilith's hurriedly spoken arcane words manifest as a yawning pit underneath one zombie, and the other blunders blindly in after it as the elven wizard moves away, spotting Valex, and more a defensible position, down a corridor to the south. She is pursued by a groaner, who swipes out at her as she moves, but does not itself move quickly enough to strike her with its filthy hands.
Valex is also pursued, his wounds barely having healed over before a half-rotted corpse stinking of soil appears, arms outstretched to grab him even as worms tumble from its decayed mouth.
Melo is not to fortunate, and right out of the mud next to him rises a nearly skeletal figure with tattered scraps of cloth hanging from its frame. It lurches suddenly at him, bodyweight crashing in to the druid, who just manages to get his shield mostly in the way before throwing it back. not before taking 6 damage from the strike however. Another zombie, this one missing half its face, moves up out of the darkness to menace him.
Screams continue to echo around the earthern corridors.
Don't want to detract from the combat posting so will keep this brief.
After the pair move off Flynn is patient and remains as still as a statue for a further ten minutes or so. Sure that they are gone, he calls to Skyfall in a harsh whisper more than a shout. The pair then settle in the branches of a tree just within the treeline - Skyfall perched and Flynn in his hammock.
He catches a few hours sleep where he can and then waits for dawn and whatever he might see in the village.
You know I'm a survivalist, and I know you care too much for your friends for not trying something stupid, Lenn, and that you will soon ask me to help you protect them, probably. Can your magic help me to descend safely? I don't want to land on someone that has survived the fall, I'm pretty sure he won't appreciate the bittersweet irony.
The smile is still there, frozen, bu the eyes are hard, cold and calculating
Maybe there is not too many cadavers down there, and in this close area, maybe I'll be able to take them one by one. If I do it, I want you to know that I'm not doing it for them, but for you, and as you seem to like self sacrifice, if we survive this crazy idea, I own your a**, and I'm not talking figuratively.You're warned, fairly.
Looking at the fight
Now I want you to put your emotion and feelings aside, for a short moment. Think as a soldier think. The shapechanger can get out, as a mole, a spider, a duck or whatever stuck his fancy, or he can change into a lion and fight. You know your friends better than me: who's the most capable to turn the tide of the battle? Lilith or Valex? Maybe we'll be able to save one of them, maybe none of them, maybe both. But who can help us helping them? Forget the civilians, most of them must be dead right now, or dying. Let's hope they won't be another problem.
Holding Lenneth tightly, so she cannot jump by herself or cast a spell
In fact, before we do anything stupid, Lenn, promise me you will fly away if things go badly, and that you won't bother with remorse or regrets. You'd have done your best, and sometimes it ain't enough, but at least you tried. Of course, if you say "let's go away, please", I won't hold a grudge against you, and we can live happily for the rest of our lives. But I doubt you will say it.
Although a part of her understands that Lachen has a valid point about whose rescue to prioritize first, something about the coldness of his eyes and the commanding tone in his voice ignite a spark of anger within her.
"I'm not planning on jumping down there and I hadn't planned on asking you to jump either!" she snarls, squirming in his grasp. "And I don't have any magic to get you down there; you'll have to go by rope if you go." Taking a deep breath she continues, her voice calmer but much colder. "As long as she has a buffer between her and them, Lilith's magic can work wonders at slowing those things down and trapping them. Valex is no slouch with a sword and he knows a little about magic too."
"As for me, I'm not going anywhere yet. I've got some tricks up my sleeve and my magic works just as well from up here as it would down there. Now LET. ME. GO!"
Melo hears the shouting above him, at least partially understanding it he grits his teeth he feels his skin tremble he feels the animal take over again taking a step back he falls to the floor and in an instant he brings up his head as he is fully transformed into a lion he roars out at the undead.
With teeth bared he shouts out for whoever is listening. "We have to move forward, i can hear screams from the ones that survived!"
Flynn we'll pause you there as the rest of the party needs to catch up, sorry to have you hanging doing nothing :(
The zombie before Lilith is almost completely incinerated, her magical fire burning its entire torso to ash in seconds and reducing the rest to cinders within moments.
ValexBot lashes out with his blade, fending off the zombie he faces and inflicting a severe gash in its neck as he dodges its attack, though it still continues to menace him.
I have yet to see anyone else, are you hurt?!
Lachen thinks the sides of the earthern trench are rough with lots of handholds, it would be reasonably easy to climb (DC 10). He sees no sign of Mallis among the tribe members currently scared out of their wits and screaming at the edges of the pit.
Waiting on actions from Lachen and Lenneth
No its absolutely fine. How far away is the party from the village? I.e. Will have time to observe and fly back before they arrive?
ooops, just notice I have a rope in my equipment.
There is something I don't understand (sorry, but I'm French ^^):
"(tribe members) screaming at the edges of the pit".
Do you mean there is people hanging on the edge of the pit, ready to fall and needing to be saved? Or are they down in the pit, near the sides?
Waiting on your clarification to post more.
Lachen notice that some of the tribe members are maybe too close from the edge
Get a few feet away, the ground might be unstable.
Flynn: you are at twilight/overnight, the party is at an hour to twilight, and near the village, if they keep on (presuming the trench doesn't eat them!) then they will get to the village just after nightfall...
Lachen: not dangling from the sides monsieur soldat, just standing/crouching/sobbing on the forest clearing floor (same level as you) a few feet away from the edge...
The tribe continue to shriek and scream, not paying much attention to Lachen right now, but they don't seem to be in any immediate danger of falling in.
Ah, I thought I was effectively a day ahead because of saving travel time by flying. In that case, instead of staying there can I head back to the others? Likely arriving after this fight in that case
Whoops sorry, I figured Lenneth b******* at Lachen would've taken up her action for this round!
"Thank you," Lenneth responds as Lachen abruptly releases her and begins scanning the crowd for something or someone. "I promise, I'll not do anything foolish..." she adds, her voice dropping and trailing off.
Whirling back around, she gazes down into the trenches in time to see Lilith's magical fire burn one of the groaners to a crisp, freeing the way behind her. However, she sees newcomer Melo with two of the groaners up close and personal. She focuses on the ground beneath their feet, willing it to turn to sludge.
"Melo needs help!" she calls. "To your right, Lilith!"
Swamp's Grasp to try and catch the two up in Melo's face; she will try and throw it behind them so he won't get mired down as well.
I don't think you're able to take 10 on that climb check Lachen due to the distraction clause in the take 10 rules
When your character is not in immediate danger or distracted, you may choose to take 10.
A ranged weapon might be the best option here since it will take likely three rounds to descend anyway
Climb: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17 If needed.
Flynn, faster by air yes, but the path you took was the x and y whereas the party took the hypotenuse!
The zombies continue moving forward, the pair menacing Valex come within inches of getting their gnashing teeth on his arm yet he manages to fend them off still.
Melo does not fair as well, even as the zombies drag their feet out of the suddenly marshy ground, one smashes it's bony fist against Lion!Melo's paw doing 5 damage.
Lachen manages to rappel a little way down the rough wall Yup no taking 10 in combat! With your move rate, each move action lets you climb 7.5 ft, so 15 ft/round, will take you another 2 rounds to get down safely. You can either climb more quickly by increasing the DC of your check or else drop down and risk damaging yourself (3d6 falling damage at the mo)
You hear Ashleigh screaming for help from somewhere in the western area of the trench...
