Dion turns to her in all seriousness"Sanity? Just keep your feet on the ground!" Then bursts out in a hearty laugh. [b]"I wouldn't worry about it too much. I'll admit I'm quite confused about the situation as well. But the way I see it, why worry? We're already in it."[b]
You forgot the backslash before the last b.
Xianhue |
Xianhue looks askance at the dispersing crowd, then shrugs and banks in a wide arc to return to the others. "It's not much of a town, but it's also not very far south. There was a big crowd standing around but they're all dispersing already so I don't know what they were doing..." she informs the others as she touches down lightly, snapping her glider staff closed at the same time.

Sorry, Internets been down all day. It looks like I haven't missed much however.
"No thank you Dion, I keep a small supply of assorted spices with me for just such an occasion." Quin glances at Su and then back to what he is doing.Edible doesn't imply slow. I take pride in what I prepare.
Breakfast is served and enjoyed. Quin disassembles the tent and the party heads off into the unknown.
Hope you don't mind me just hijacking the party like that but it didn't seem like we were going anywhere ;)
Yea we left already see?
Quin Jee |
"This is odd, I've never seen a street so empty before..." Quin looks around thoughtfully and then steps into the common room of the inn.
He spots the Inkeeper and casually strikes up a conversation. "Evening, it certainly is quiet tonight isn't it?"
Diplomacy 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
I'm trying to find out why the streets are so empty.
GM Tirq |
The inn keeper is an old lady wearing a simple green one piece shirt and skirt with an apron on the front. She says to Quin "Evening. It sure is quiet. Ever since the town meeting tonight. Apperently, we're gonna send some people up the mountain to get a cure for the mayor. I don't know who's gonna do it, though. That place is haunted! Peels of thunder out of nowhere, those strange... things... on the top... Do you kids need a room for tonight?"
Quin Jee |
"They mayor is ill? My companions and I are actually headed for the mountain. Perhaps we could bring this cure back, if you would tell me what it is." Quin pauses a moment and glances back through the door. "And I suppose we will be staying the night, by chance do you have hot baths or is there a bath house nearby?"
GM Tirq |
"The cure asks for some Juniper Berries. The only place you can get some of those, is on the top of the mountain. It's either that, or a seven day long journey to Jeng Ha. They're park is full of them, beautiful is what it is. We'll discuss this tomorrow, I'll tell Jeb this in a little. It'll be 2 gold for 2 rooms, breakfast is free. The closest thing we got to a bath house is a large tub, a furnace, and the underground lake. We got wells leading to it, though. Jeb and I can get it ready for you in about an hour. It'll fit one of you at a time, and it'll take another hour to be ready again. Oh, and you poor souls are hungry, aren't you? I'll get a stew going while you are bathing."
With that, she takes 2 gold from you, and walks through a door to the back room and out of sight. You here a loud "JEB!!" a little while later.
Did you guys think that you'd get a Hot Springs/Beach episode so quickly? Not yet. :)
One hour later, the woman comes back to you and says "First bath is ready. I'll get to work on that fresh stew." She says the word Stew with a large smile, and heads to another door.
Quin Jee |
Well seeing as I seem to be the only one here at the moment ;)
Quin heads down to the washroom and scrubs the dirt off himself, then rinses out his clothes. He stokes up the fire in the furnace with some bending and quickly dries out his clothing. After the fact he thinks to himself hmm...I wonder what else this furnace is supplying heat to, ah well
Walking back up through the common room he sniffs at the aroma of cooking.
Perception 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 Stew or 'stew'?
He sits down at a table and begins meditating until his companions show up.
GM Tirq |
You don't know if the mountain is haunted or not, but her story might convince you.
"It must be spirits! Quakes from underneath the mountain and peels of thunder on clear days. This must be from evil spirits. But, not all of them are bad, some people who are sick will go up on the mountain and be cured! Its strange, not everyone is cured. Only people who feel weak or can't think strait. Crazy Gao went up there and, well, we couldn't call him crazy anymore."
Dionoclese |
"Y'know it wouldn't be hard for us to create our own hot tub. I make a rock bowl, Kamiko Fills it, Quin heats it. Done." As an earth bender can't I in theory just bend the dirt off of me?
"Never been one for berries myself, but I'll be happy to help if you can tell us what they look like. Would it be possible to speak with someone who has gone up to the mountain? And if sick people get healed going up there why doesn't the Mayor go up?"
Dionoclese |
"If his condition is so serious then we had better get to the mountain quickly and not waste time. If anyone wants to go speak with the mayor or whatever I'm not going to protest, my character is suprisingly amiable for an earth bender. I think amiable is the right word anyways.
GM Tirq |
You can tell that the major sickness that requires Juniper Berries is Dragon's Flu. Its kinda like the flu, but lasts a whole lot longer. Older people have problems with the Dragon's Flu because the nervous system gets jacked up and staying sick for too long is really bad. If you don't get that cure to the mayor, he could die. You haven't seen him, but you can guess thats why they need Juniper Berries.
You also can't think of any spirits who do this sort of thing.
Quin Jee |
Quin spices his 'stew' and only eats a little of it. I bet bilge water would taste better.
To the inkeeper he says "Do you know what juniper berries look like madam? If not we will find someone in the morning as its rather quite late now."
Quin then turns to his companions. "Is that agreeable? It seems we all wish to set out as soon as possible."
With that said quin excuses himself form the table and heads for his room to turn in for the night.
If someone has another plan or just wishes to chat he'll turn around and stay
GM Tirq |
"I don't off the top of my head, but I have a book you guys can borrow. Or, if you want, you can buy it for a Silver. I don't know why you might want a book about plants, though..."
... except that it would add a +1 modifier to your Survival rolls, +3 if you're in a forest, for gathering food. I can't think of the any reason at all.
Quin Jee |
"I'm not one to turn down an advantage." Quin hands the coin over to the innkeeper and takes the book from her. He opens it up and thumbs through the pages looking for the entry on Juniper berries. Finding it he places the book down on the table open to the page so everyone can see.
Pointing to the picture he says,"That's what we're looking for, it doesn't look like they will be too difficult to find from what this says. I suggest we all get some rest now so we can head out early in the morning, the mayors condition sounds serious; as for the other thing, I've never put much stock in spirits. More likely its these bandits we were told about that are spooking the locals."
GM Tirq |
"Bandits? No one is mad enough to go up there. Listen, you kids have a good night, and I'll see you in the morning."
With that, she starts leaving the room. And night comes. I'll give you guys a little bit in case you want to do something at night, such as sleeping or studying the book you just bought. Just remember that something funky is going on up there, and rest might be smart.
