Will: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
I still don't have an answer to my question, DM. Is the reduction to my Wisdom damage (meaning I've got a -1 to all Wisdom-based checks), drain (meaning my Wisdom is actually lower), or an actual penalty (like ray of enfeeblement)?
Garin Veacali |
Will: 1d20 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 1 + 4 = 19
Garin recovers from his fear and closes the newly charged soul siphon before taking out his own vial of holy water. He clutches it tight in his free hand before lobbing it at the wall.
Holy Water: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Damage: 2d4 ⇒ (3, 4) = 7

Ah that was the other part that got lost:
Damage- so the -1 penalty.
GM: Twice Dead Professor |
Garin recovers from his fear and closes the newly charged soul siphon before taking out his own vial of holy water. He clutches it tight in his free hand before lobbing it at the wall.
Unfortunately, the siphon didn't charge- it's now empty. Apparently it only gains the negative energy if it successfully drains (defeats) the haunt.
Bottles of holy water smash upon the wall. Vachordi's blast of sound shakes the timber structure that strains to hold up the wall.
1d20 ⇒ 12
3d4 ⇒ (4, 4, 2) = 10
The walls begin to come apart, with rocks and support beams tumbling off the west wall onto the ground- some of which rolling into the pool of brackish water.
All PCs take 10 damage from debris. Reflex saves vs DC16 for half damage. The floor of the room is now considered difficult terrain. Fortunately, it looks like the walls will hold from here.
The room is filled with a hallow, wheezing laughter. You've come! You've come! Defeat the others you have, but not me. no no no. Not me! Instead you free me! Hawkran is gone, the wife will fade. And you- you glorious fleshy yous, have made a mistake. You've brought me my spellllllbooook!!!!! Give it to me, or bleed. The mad ghost of a portly man flies up from the flooded obillette and begins darting about the room.
Initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 for Splatterman
Shel Whispertongue |
Reflex 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
Initiative 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Shel pulls the last soul siphon and prepares to use it against the Splatterman as he closes in on the group.
Damage 3d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 4) = 13
I think that is the correct damage. If not, let me know.
Vachordi Strong Wind |
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8 init
Vachordi immediately Begins his war chant
Some healing would be appreciated!

Reflex: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Awnara is battered by the shower of rocks, and cries out as one strikes her soundly upon the head, opening a wound that stains her blonde hair red.
"You're not going anywhere but into these siphons, Splatterman!", she shouts, her eyes burning with a familiar white energy. "The Heavens burn you, dead man! To the Boneyard with you!"
Disrupt undead on the Splatterman!
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Garin Veacali |
Well, I've got an empty vial then!
Reflex DC 16: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Garin is unable to move in time to avoid the falling rocks and gets battered by the brunt of the debris.
HP: 14/29
Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
He coughs from the dust and eyes the fat ghost, fingers picking out another vial of holy water to throw. "Shut. Up!"
Holy Water: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Damage: 2d4 ⇒ (1, 1) = 2
GM: Twice Dead Professor |
This is the last fight, if you don't attack anything else!
Initiative:
Garin
Shel
Awnara
Vachordi
Splatterman
Gilda's roll?
Splatterman: for round one he's flying back through the cell walls, and casts a spell. After he's finished casting, he taunts: I'll be taking my spellbook now.
FYI: he's incorpreal and his AC 14 to hit.
Vachordi Strong Wind |
1d20 + 5 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 5 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 1 = 12 for 1d6 + 1 + 1 + 2d6 ⇒ (4) + 1 + 1 + (1, 6) = 13
1d20 + 5 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 5 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 1 = 30 for 1d6 + 1 + 1 + 2d6 ⇒ (3) + 1 + 1 + (5, 5) = 15
To confirm
1d20 + 5 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 5 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 1 = 11 for 2d6 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (1, 5) + 2 + 2 = 10
As soon as it shows up Vachordi will rapid shot he undead name arrows at him
Awnara Puddyfoot |
Spellcraft (What's he casting?): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
So, if I'm understanding right, we're onto second round actions, since Gilda's channel goes off. If he's physically inside one of the walls right now, I'll ready an action to blast him again with disrupt undead when he comes out again.
"So you were who they were trying to free in here!", Awnara shouts at the Splatterman. "You're not going anywhere except into a soul siphon!" Her eyes glow with holy power, and she watches the walls, waiting for him to emerge so she can disrupt his form.
Readied action: fire disrupt undead once the Splatterman emerges.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

** spoiler omitted **
We're still collecting first round actions, then I'll resolve tonight.
Edrik hasn't joined us in a while...To clarify, the ghost can't stay in the walls, so he'll fly through the walls to hide in one of the nearby cells. You can attack him prior to him moving.
From the gestures, you detect that he's casting Summon Monster II
Shel Whispertongue |
Wow, DM. I hadn't noticed Edrik hasn't posted in so long. He's not exactly an active poster, but this is a new record, I think. I'll take an action for him, if that's ok.
Edrik pulls his longsword, and focuses on the undead, declaring his smite against it.
He readies an action to strike it, when it closes into range.
Smite Attack 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 7 + 2 = 28

I love that I wasted one of the Undad bane arrows, totally missed.

[ooc]Round 1 summary [/dice]
Shel's siphon envelopes some of the energy from the Splatterman. Garin's toss burns a little more away.
Anwara's first holy beam misses.
Vachordi's second shoot lands clean, ripping an ethereal hole through the wizard's chest. The first shot 1d100 ⇒ 14 sticks in a beam near the doorway of a cell, undamaged.
Gilda's holy light lands on the ghost.
The ghost summons forth 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 dire rats, who appear behind several members of the party, threatening to flank with their sharp teeth. He flies through two cells and waits inside for the rats to appear out in the hall.
Edrik strides into the cell and lands a mighty blow that would have devastated any live opponent.
Round 2 up:
4 dire rats will attack with the ghost.
Shel Whispertongue |
Shel didn't really have an effective attack versus the ghost, so she trusted the others to deal with it.
She turned on a rat and swung both of her knives.
Attack 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Damage 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Attack 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Damage 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Shel Whispertongue |
Edrik ignores the mere vermin, saving his powerful strikes for the undead abomination.
Attack 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 7 + 2 = 25
Damage 1d8 + 3 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 6 = 15
Vachordi Strong Wind |
Vachordi continues his rumbling song and sends arrows at a dire rat, switching to a second if one drops from the first arrow
1d20 + 4 + 1 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 1 + 1 - 1 = 10 for 1d6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 + 1 = 5
1d20 + 4 + 1 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (19) + 4 + 1 + 1 - 1 = 24 for 1d6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 + 1 = 3
GM: Twice Dead Professor |
Round 2:
Shel slices open one rat cleanly. As it's blood hits the ground it dissolves into nothingness.
Awnara's blast hits the splatterman causing him to howl in pain.
Gilda's blow likewise dismisses a second rat.
Vachordi's second arrow pierces the third who runs in for a bite.
Garin's swing fails to account for the speed of the rat, and he misses.
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
1d4 ⇒ 1
1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
The splatterman casts another spell
The remaining rat finds a soft spot on Vachordi and does 1 point of damage with its bite. Please roll a DC11Fort save.
Garin Veacali |
Garin takes another thrust at a dire rat.
Halberd (2h): 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 7 + 1 = 13
Damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
"Blast it, get the ghost before he casts another spell!"
Vachordi Strong Wind |
Vachordi delays until after all his companions have acted and then he lets his performance lapse then uses his Thunder burst, hopefully catching the ghost AND a rat or two.
this function as Sound Burst DC15
1d8 ⇒ 5 on ghost
1d8 ⇒ 7 on Rat
1d8 ⇒ 7 on Rat 2 if I can get it
Vachordi 5 fts away before he does this.
GM: Twice Dead Professor |
Round 2 addendum:
The paladin strides up to the ghost, swinging cleanly through it. The ghost howls in pain, but you can't tell how much damage it actually took.
Round 3:
Garin's swing misses the dodging rat- who blows apart with Vachordi's sonic blast.
The ghost flits between cells again, and howls at Shel: Give me my spellbook, you whore!!!!! before unleashing another barrage of magic missiles: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5, 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5, 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3. 13 damage to Shel.
Gilda's healing spell covers some of the bard's wounds, but the bite mark still looks red and swollen.
Awnara's attack misses.
Shel's attack? Want to roll for Edrik again?
Shel Whispertongue |
Shel readies an action to throw her last vial of holy water at the undead.
Edrik keeps swinging at the undead every opportunity he has.
Shel ranged attack 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 6 + 1 = 22
Shel damage 2d4 ⇒ (4, 2) = 6
Edrik attack1d20 + 7 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 7 + 2 + 1 = 18
