HP: 11/19, Spells: Level 1: (1/3)

Nitina:
"We've got two on us. You got a clear shot? I'm gonna try to put the one with the gun to sleep."

Klinn:
"I'll try to buy us some time. Keep on trying to get out of that trap!" Karina says nervously. She opens the scroll and mutters its incantation.

The one in Q37 has to make a DC 15 will save or is asleep

Klinn, Karina, Nitina:
Bandit (Q37) will save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

He passes out.

Nitina:
Change targets?

Female Human Gunslinger 2 // Inquisitor 2

DM:
Yes, definitely. Target O30. Hit for 4 damage (unless you'll let me redo those rolls...)

Human Summoner 2 // Ranger 2

Katrina:
"Damn it. I've got to dismiss Nysro." Klinn closes his eyes and appears to mutter a memorized incantation, but you can't quite make out what he is saying. He then faces the bandit that is still up and hopes to survive another round.

HP: 11/19, Spells: Level 1: (1/3)

Klinn:
Pssst. You can always drop prone to get a +4 cover to ranged attacks.

"Klinn! Get down!"

Human Summoner 2 // Ranger 2

Karina:
OH DANG!! Klinn drops prone like a honey badger.

Arastine:
After staring briefly at the carnage surrounding Arastine, the bandit in F15 flees west-southwest into the forest (ending in H4). Meanwhile, the two bandits on the eastern tower clamber down and flee north. Someone else shouts, "where do you cowards think you're going?!?" As they run north, they shout "anywhere but here! Kressle and the stag lord ain't worth dyin' for!"

Moments later, another bandit climbs atop the tower, longbow drawn. He spots the carnage surrounding you but is too shocked to react.

Map

Pete:
You're stable, so there's no immediate threat of death.

Karina & Klinn:
But Honey Badgers don't give a s&#&. Why would one bother to drop prone?

Klinn focuses for a moment and dismisses his fallen eidolon. He then drops prone.

Karina invokes the power of her scroll, causing the bandit in Q37 to fall asleep.

Nitina fires her weapon and then shimmies down from her hidden perch, arriving at the forest floor just in time for a bandit, bleeding from his leg, to run down from the camp and shoot her in the torso with his gun.

To the west, someone shouts, "where do you cowards think you're going?" This seems to elicit a response of "anywhere but here! Kressle and the stag lord ain't worth dyin' for!"

Seeing his compatriot fall, the bandit in L37 abandons all pretense of caution and dashes to N42. He looses an arrow at Karina, but in his haste it flies wide and strikes a tree some distance off.

Map

DM Rolls:
Fun stuff: 1d100 ⇒ 34
N42 attack vs Karina: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

Nitina:
Klinn focuses for a moment and Nysro vanishes. Klinn then drops prone. Following Karina's victory over the bandit in Q37, you rapidly adjust your aim to the one in O30. Your bullet strikes him in the leg and you scramble down the tree (no problem doing that as a move action).

The bandit you shot dashes to R35 and fires his rifle at you. His bullet strikes you in the abdomen (9 damage). He jeers, "how d'ye like that, b+!$%?"

To the west, someone shouts, "where do you cowards think you're going?!?" This seems to elicit a response of "anywhere but here! Kressle and the stag lord ain't worth dyin' for!"

The bandit from K27 dashes toward the sound of gunshots (ending in O31) with his bow drawn and prepares to fire an arrow at you. He manages to scrape his wrist with the bowstring, and seems clumsier than he was a moment ago as the arrow tumbles to the ground at his feet. His former flanking partner dashes west.

Map

DM Rolls:
R35 attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16 Hit!
Damage: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
O31 attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 Possible fumble...
Fumble confirmation: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9 Confirmed!
Fumble deck 1: 1d52 ⇒ 41 All thumbs
Fumble deck 2: 1d52 ⇒ 34 What are the odds?

Vlad:
You hear a pair of gunshots from the east. They seem to have originated further away from you than those you have heard up to now.

Your arrows both strike the bandit, and he goes down with an arrow through each eye. Moments later, another bandit rushes into the forest, just north of where your target fell. He hasn't seen you either.

To the east, someone shouts, "where do you cowards think you're going?" This seems to elicit a response of "anywhere but here! Kressle and the stag lord ain't worth dyin' for!"

Female Human Gunslinger 1/Rogue (Poisoner) 1//Sorcerer (Sage spellslinger) 2

Arastine:
Arastine urges Midnight to leap the barriers to the east while she reloads her weapon. Without a running start, Midnight instead struggles over them (treat as difficult terrain while double moving to N19). Arastine then fires at the bandit now atop the tower.

Midnight acrobatics: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Arastine attack vs P22: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Male Human Paladin 2 // Bard 2

DM:

Vlad moves silently to -3J and takes a shot at the running bandit

Shot: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 And we're back to the bad rolls

Stealth: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

Vlad:
Just FYI, moving more than half your speed like that while attempting to remain unnoticed imparts a -5 penalty to stealth. Also, the stealth roll should have been rolled before the shot, as you now take a -20 penalty to stealth on top of that because now you're sniping.

Male Human Paladin 2 // Bard 2

DM:

Whoops! So no sneaking for Vlad in all likelihood.

HP: 11/19, Spells: Level 1: (1/3)

Klinn/Nitina:
Karina draws her whip menacingly then mutters an incantation. Nysro materializes from nothing, appearing nearby the N42 bandit in M44, appearing to be angrier than before and ready to attack. She tells Klinn, "Keep on trying the stake!"

Klinn/Nitina, spellcraft 16:
Karina cast Silent Image

Klinn/Nitina, Will Save 15:
"Nysro" is illusory.

Human Summoner 2 // Ranger 2

Karina/Nitina:
Beautifully done Karina. :) Klinn does as his sister says and tugs on the stake in the ground. srt: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21 It pops out with ease. I'm free sis! doh! I could have gotten free with that roll! Klinn stays on the ground.

Female Human Gunslinger 2 // Inquisitor 2

GM:

Will Save 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

Given that I'm adjacent to the tree-trunk, can I Gunslinger's Dodge behind it to gain cover in addition to the +2 AC?

Nitina:
You may. As I believe that puts your effective touch AC vs this shot at 18, the bandit misses and you take no damage.

Female Human Gunslinger 2 // Inquisitor 2

DM:
Okay, sweet. Grit 3/4; Health 9/11

Reload, 5-foot shift back out, shoot the bastard.

Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20 vs touch
Damage 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

Arastine:
Arastine's shot strikes the target high in the shoulder, leaving his left arm hanging limp. Panicked, he climbs down and flees north to join those he berated mere moments ago.

You hear another gunshot from the east, and a cry of "you'll never take me alive! from the west.

Map

Pete:
You're still alive, and still stable. Your unconscious dreams of pain and loud noises continue unabated.

Klinn & Karina:
The bandit in N44 laughs and says "you're not fooling anyone!" He then advances through Phonysro and fires at Karina from N46. His shot strikes her in the leg (5 damage). In the distance, you see Nitina shoot one bandit, killing him. Another bandit runs from the camp and slaps awake the one Karina knocked out. The newly awoken bandit, seeing his ally dead, stands up and shoots Nitina in the gut with his rifle.

You hear one gunshot from the west, as well as a distant cry of "you'll never take me alive!"

Map

DM Rolls:
N44 will save: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (17) - 1 = 16 Success!
N44 longbow attack vs Karina: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14 Hit
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Fun Stuff: 1d100 ⇒ 38

Nitina:
The bandit in R35 leaps for the ground as you fire, but you are able to correct your aim in time and strike him with a perfect headshot. He is dead. Meanwhile, the bandit in O31 rushes to Q37 and slaps awake the sleeping bandit with a shout of "Wake up! They're using magic against us!" The newly awoken bandit stands up and fires his rifle at you (he hadn't gotten a shot off before Karina put him to sleep, so his weapon is still loaded). His bullet strikes you in the gut (9 damage).

Meanwhile, the bandit in N42 is unimpressed by Karina's illusion. Dashing through the illusory creature, he fires an arrow at Karina, striking her in the leg.

From the west, you hear one gunshot and a cry of "you'll never take me alive!"

Map

DM Rolls:
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Damage: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

Vlad:
Your shot misses. The bandit sees you and charges at you, drawing his sword while shouting "You'll never take me alive!" He lunges at you with his sword, but his swing is hampered by his mangled arm, and he fails to connect.

From the east, you hear two gunshots, one of them quite distant.

Map

DM Rolls:
Short sword attack roll (from charge): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

Female Human Gunslinger 1/Rogue (Poisoner) 1//Sorcerer (Sage spellslinger) 2

DM:
Arastine urges Midnight to charge the bandit in J21. The horse complies and charges forward, kicking out one hoof at the fleeing bandit.

Midnight Attack (from charge): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Damage: 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

Arastine then fires two shots, one at each of the other fleeing bandits.

Rapid shot 1 vs H20: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Rapid shot 2 vs G19: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Arastine (19)
Pete (12+)
Klinn (12-)
Vlad (10)
Karina (7+)
Nitina (7-)

Karina:
Klinn scowls and yells "Puddles! I need you!" Puddles appears in N47, leaps up onto the bandit and bites his face off:

Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Crit threat: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
I bet that confirms: 1d52 ⇒ 10 =>Eye removed, triple damage, 1d2 Con drain, -4 on perception checks and ranged attacks until healed (fort negates)

Damage3:1d6 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Free Trip against CMB: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24 (a critical trip? :P)

Puddles Stats:
HP:17/17, AC: 13, Saves +7/+5/+1, SR 5 (resists cold and fire)
CMB +5; CMD 17 (21 vs. trip)

HP: 11/19, Spells: Level 1: (1/3)

Klinn:
Karina laughs at the bandit who shot her as he get his face torn up.

Seeing no way to close the gap on the bandits, she drops prone and tells Klinn, "Let me see if I can see a way out away from the traps."

So, my plan is to try to get a grasp for where the traps are around here and find a path out of here that would allow us to avoid them. I'll use a full round action of scanning, for what it's worth.
Perception:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Klinn & Karina:
Crikey, I expected Puddles to make another appearance right about now, but I didn't expect her to deal over twice the bandit's maximum hit points!

Female Human Gunslinger 2 // Inquisitor 2

GM:
Nitina is knocked down by the bullet, but she manages to pull another potion from her hip, drink it and crawl back behind the tree.

CLW 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Health 2/11

Karina:
In a hoarse whisper: We need to get out of here now!

Male Human Paladin 2 // Bard 2

DM:

Now this is what I call point blank!

Vlad steps back to K-3 and shoots the man twice (I assume with those rolls he hits). As he dies (I assume he dies) Vlad sings to him.

Hush little bandit now you die,
Just continue to whimper and cry,
and when you feel that death is pressing near,
Just know the Abyss is all that waits for you there.

With this Vlad smiles at the bandit.

Shot 1: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Shot 2: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18

dmg shot 1: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
dmg shot 2: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

The Angel of Death:
Midnight's attack snaps the bandit's neck, killing him. Arastine shoots both fleeing bandits in the back, killing them, too.

One gunshot rings out from the east.

Map

Pete:
Nothing much changes.

Klinn & Karina:
You hear two gunshots from the west.

Puddles tears the bandit's face off altogether. He's very, very dead. Nitina falls after being shot, but drinks a healing potion and crawls to relative safety behind the tree.

The rifleman shouts "Look at what that dog did to Cletus! Shoot the summoner!" He reloads his weapon and fires at Klinn. His bullet strikes Klinn in the thigh (6 damage, which I believe renders you unconscious). Puddles disappears. His comrade runs north and takes aim at Karina, but his arrow glances off her armor.

Map

DM Rolls:
Fun stuff: 1d100 ⇒ 75
Q37 rifle shot vs Klinn: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17 Hit vs prone touch w/ partial cover from tree (1st range increment)
20% miss chance from tree: 1d100 ⇒ 86
Damage: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
O41 longbow attack vs Karina: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13 Miss!

Nitina:
Two gunshots ring out from the west. You crawl behind the cover of the tree. Both bandits advance to get better shots against Klinn and Karina. You see the rifleman reload and shoot Klinn, who falls and lies motionless. The dog he summoned disappears. The bowman looses an arrow at Karina, but her armor deflects the impact.

Map

Vlad:
You put two arrows in the man's chest and he falls back, dead.

Three gunshots ring out from the east, one of them from much further away than the first two.

Map

Female Human Gunslinger 1/Rogue (Poisoner) 1//Sorcerer (Sage spellslinger) 2

DM:
Arastine rides to Q34 (Midnight double moved) and fires off two shots at the bandit in Q37.

Rapid shot 1 vs Q37: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
Rapid shot 2 vs Q37: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (19) - 1 = 18
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Karina & Nitina:
Two shots ring out from the west, and the rifleman in Q37 pitches forward, dead. Arastine is behind the dead man, revolver smoking. She is bleeding from one arm, and her horse's front hooves are coated in blood.

Map

Note that this was resolved early as it might affect your actions this turn.

Human Summoner 2 // Ranger 2

DM:
Obviously you may rule as you will, but Summon Monster and has already been cast. It does not need me to concentrate on it or even be aware of it to maintain the spell. There is a special rule about Eidolons, but it doesn't apply to creatures summoned via casting Summon Monster. For example, if a caster conjured a heavy fog, you wouldn't dispel it as soon as you went unconscious; in fact, it takes a standard action to dispel. So can I have Puddles back?

Edit: You would control Puddles of course.

Klinn:
You summoned Puddles via your class ability. As this ability is related to that which allows you to summon Nysro, I am inclined to apply the unconscious summoner clause to this situation as well.

So no, puddles is gone once again. In the future, however, I will apply the not dismissed until eidolon hits negative hit points clause to summons you make via your class ability.

Female Human Gunslinger 2 // Inquisitor 2

DM:
Nitina reloads and crawls out from behind the tree (5-foot shift). Pow!

Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22 vs touch
Damage 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

Karina & Aristane:
We need to get out of here now.

Female Human Gunslinger 1/Rogue (Poisoner) 1//Sorcerer (Sage spellslinger) 2

Karina and Nitina:
"No need!" Arastine calls out, "The bandits are all dead or fled. Pete's down and really badly injured - I need to go make sure he doesn't die."

We're still on initiative, mind you. At least until Klinn stabilizes.

Klinn:
I believe that there's a feat summoners can take that lets their eidolon remain summoned even while asleep or unconscious. That would definitely apply to your summons as well.

Anyway, I need you to roll to stabilize (DC 10 Con check, with a penalty equal to your current negative hit point total).

HP: 11/19, Spells: Level 1: (1/3)

Klinn/Nitina/Arastine:
When Klinn drops unconscious, Karina lets out a yelp and starts frantically fumbling through her pack, producing her last scroll. She calls out, "Right, go tend to Pete. I'll make sure Klinn pulls through."

She heals him for 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 points of damage.

Male Human Paladin 2 // Bard 2

DM:

Vlad having heard a lot of shots at this point realizes the danger that his compatriots may face. He hustles to N3 using the route that allows him to leave the forest the fastest.

Human Summoner 2 // Ranger 2

DM:
If there isn't such a feat, could I write one for level 3? It seems like always having your Eidolon around even when asleep or unconscious is overpowered for a feat, but having the summoning spell work like normal without one is not. I mean, I could lock myself in a room, cast a level 1 spell to remove my connection to Nysro, go to sleep and he could ravage the countryside, all at level 3 with a feat like that. The power of that kind of feat only increases as the levels go up, creating a pretty serious unbalance. The creatures I summon are not linked to me in any way. I can't even communicate with them unless I either speak their language or have some sort of handle animal skill. Also, I don't really care if the summoned creatures stick around. The only reason that it is important that Nysro not vanish before he is at -constitution HP is that if he is banished by being killed, I can't summon him the next day. My other summons vanish as soon as I summon another monster anyway and I can't heal them once they are dead (I can only heal my eidolon, stupid CLW not on summoner's spell list... :P )

The instances where this will be important seem are probably pretty uncommon, and it is clear that it doesn't even matter this time. Even so, we should figure out what is up with the whole situation so I know what to expect for the future.

Karina, Nitina, Arastine:
HP: -4/11
Stabalize: 1d20 - 4 + 2 ⇒ (18) - 4 + 2 = 16 Stabilized.
Healed to -1/11

Klinn:
Found it. It is the Resilient Eidolon feat from Ultimate Magic. It has some limits in duration, however, to keep it balanced. It's really an in-combat feat.

Klinn, Karina, Arastine, Nitina:
Klinn stabilizes.

FYI, magical healing of any sort always automatically stabilizes a dying victim, so no roll is needed on Klinn's part.

Female Human Gunslinger 2 // Inquisitor 2

Karina:
Nitina stands and reloads her carbine, wincing in pain at the bullet in her side.

We're sure that was all of them? I'm going to head back up, try to get a better look. If they had any scouts out, they'll know we're here.

Human Summoner 2 // Ranger 2

Klinn, Karina, Arastine, Nitina:
I go before Karina on initiative, so I thought I had to roll to see if she healed me at -4 or -5. At any rate,

Arastine, Klinn, Karina, Nitina:
Karina heals some of Klinn's wounds while Nitina gets ready to climb back up the tree.

Map

Vlad:
You leave the forest and venture into the main camp. The man in the tower has been shot twice and lies dead. Pete lies injured and unconscious on the path, three of his fingers scattered beside him. A nasty gash reveals a portion of his spine, which has been injured by a blade. There is no sigh of his horse. Two bandits lie dead near him. Both bandits have been bludgeoned to death.

Map

As everyone's stable and all the bandits are dead, we are now off initiative.

Full Map

Male Human Paladin 2 // Bard 2

DM:

Vlad flat out runs further east in search of the rest of the party, convinced that if Pete is in this shape the rest of them must be in similar condition. He keeps his bow out, uncertain if there are other bandits. Vlad moves to 26P.

Female Human Gunslinger 1/Rogue (Poisoner) 1//Sorcerer (Sage spellslinger) 2

Vlad:
As you run around the logs at the south of the camp, Arastine comes riding the other way. "Good. You made it. Now I need to go keep Pete in one... err, four pieces," she shouts as she rides to O15, leaps from her horse, and scuttles over the logs while drawing a potion, which she administers to Pete. As he revives, she says "Welcome back to the land of the living. We won, by the way."

Ride check for a fast dismount: 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (16) + 7 - 1 = 22
Potion of CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Pete:
You are healed 6 points. You awaken as Arastine removes a bottle from your mouth. "Welcome back to the world of the living. We won, by the way." There are two dead bandits nearby. One of them cut you up. Another corpse can be seen in the tower.

Full Map

Male Human Paladin 2 // Bard 2

Pete and Arastine:

Vlad continues to stay tense "Did any get away? (If Arastine says yes then Vlad asks) How many and which direction did they go?"

Vlad, no matter the answers, will then ask: "How is everyone else doing? Is anyone else in...four peices?" After saying this Vlad begins to snicker and then laughs so hard he falls over as he looks at the state Pete is in.

Male Human Oracle 2//Antipaladin 2

Apparently looking like a corpse is funny.

Pete moans loudly. "Agh, my back! I know only pain. Just kill me now. Kill me... Wait, where are my fingers!? That bastard chopped off my gods damned erk--" He freezes up in a spasm and continues to moan.

Female Human Gunslinger 1/Rogue (Poisoner) 1//Sorcerer (Sage spellslinger) 2

Vlad and Pete:
"Two ran into the woods to the west. Surely you saw them?" Arastine says, before turning to Pete. "Good news, that guy over there with his head smashed in? He's the one who hurt you. Bad news, your horse took off running." She then spins back to Vlad and says, "Also, what happened? We saw a flare go up from over here. How did they spot you?"

Male Human Paladin 2 // Bard 2

Arastine and Pete:

Vlad continues to roll on the ground laughing, "I'm sorry Pete it's just..." Vlad snickers a little more "Pete, try to keep yourself together. I'm sorry Pete but since we don't have the king's horses or the king's men I don't think we'll be able to put you together again." Vlad continues laughing and making puns and jokes out of the fact that Pete is now in several pieces for a few minutes.

Then when he has finished laughing Vlad sits up and begins to light a cigarette, "Yes, I believe I did make the brief of acquaintance of the two that got away. Let's simply say that I don't think that anyone will be hearing any reports from this base ever again."

Vlad pauses to take a deep satisfying drag from his cigarette. "Oh god, that's the stuff" Vlad then holds up his pack and says directly to the pack "I'm sorry my friend. I never want to leave you again. You really are my constant companion." At this point Vlad kisses the pack of cigarettes and stores it away in his pocket.

"And about how they spotted me. Well good news, they didn't. Unfortunately, they did hear the bear trap that went off on me despite being a good distance from them." As Vlad says this he pulls up his pant leg to examine the wound left by the trap. It is very badly damaged and clearly still causing Vlad considerable pain. "They didn't know what had set off the trap but they sent up the flare as a precaution."

Vlad:
That's not the, umm, special cigarette, is it?

Female Human Gunslinger 1/Rogue (Poisoner) 1//Sorcerer (Sage spellslinger) 2

Pete & Vlad:
Arastine cracks the faintest hint of a smile as Vlad jokes at Pete's expense, before saying "Well, I suppose that's good. Too bad we can't question any of them, though perhaps it's a good thing that those three, she nods her head to the east, "won't be able to indulge in whatever tortures they seem to get off on." She rolls her eyes and begins examining her revolver for any signs of wear and tear. She also reloads it.

HP: 11/19, Spells: Level 1: (1/3)

Nitina/Klinn:
Karina tends to Klinn, who seems to be injured, but not gravely so. She will keep an eye on him, and hang by his side, hoping that he will wake up soon. She yells out to Nitina, "Hey, you alright?"

Male Human Paladin 2 // Bard 2

DM:

Don't worry it is not the special cigarette. Although I will be using that to celebrate the victory soon.

Arastine and Pete:

"Lucky for them, unfortunately less lucky for us." Vlad puts his bow away and begins searching the bodies of the bandits. "One of them have to have some bandages on them, or a potion or something to help me with my god---- leg."
