Ahmose |

The Monk stays ethereal.

Ilithial |

Ilithial immediately casts Infernal Healing on himself and then Detect Magic to assess the items the lich has with him and in the room. Is everyone ok? I can cast Infernal Healing for anyone who wishes it. he asks, looking around for other threats.

Zoren Valkith |

Zoren hobbles over to Ilithial looking quite the worse for wear!
"I'll need several such ministrations if you can spare them. I suppose we should search this place and try and destroy her Phylactery lest she simply re-form".
Is the portal still open back to the Underdark?

Ilithial |

Unsure what other healing we might have in the party. And I think the portal was closing as we all jumped in. I hope its closed anyway.
Ilithial hands the wand to Zoren and let him use it on himself while he scans the area for magic.

Ahmose |

Ahmose ends his etherealness. The worst for wear monk then takes out his wand.
UMD: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (7) + 14 = 21
Taking 5 healing per tap. 15 charges...lol We really need another wand.

Z'dim Orwinstone |

If the portal is closed and there is no threat, he will settle to the ground and rest for a moment.
Is this room in a cave or a building? Can we tell if we're on the same plane?

Zoren Valkith |

Zoren holds onto the wand for a few minutes, enough to be better but not enough to drain the wand too much.
Zoren will use 4 charges and regain 40 HP that's four full minutes so he will be busy while the rest of you search the room.
As his body heals, Zoren will inspect the Prismatic Wall and ponder how to bypass it.
Spellcraft check on the proper order to cast spells to bring the wall down - 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10.

Ahmose |

Can any of you identify these? We are on short supply healings.

Ilithial |

It it turns out we have enough time, after searching the room Ilithial will use the wand to heal himself up to full as well. 4 more charges from the wand for a total of 9. Note it was full so he has 41 more to spare...

Zoren Valkith |

Zoren notices Ilithial staring at the wall, "Do you remember the proper order to bring one down, I fear I have forgotten though it seems some of the wards have already been lowered..."
He will take the wand again from Ilithial, "Thank you for this. I will share whatever spoils I earn with you to replace it".
4 more charges and Zoren is feeling much better!

DireMerc |

@ilithial seems that even as sorcerer your the party healer lol
The spells to bypass the wall (must be cast in order) are
Red 1st Cone of cold
Orange 2nd Gust of wind
Yellow 3rd Disintegrate
Green 4th Passwall
Blue 5th Magic missile
Indigo 6th Daylight
Violet 7th Dispel magic
It seems on this wall the first 3 walls have been removed.

Duskade the Wayang |

Feeling strong after absorbing the negative energy, and seeing the lich going down, she steps into the darkest part of the room with her daggers held out for any surprise visitors.

Ahmose |

Once healed, Ahmose will stand watch, allowing for the others to search and identify without warning of hinderance.

Zoren Valkith |

Zoren grins at Ilithial, "My life is not worth all that much. At any rate, I fear I have onlya few spells to bypass that powerful enchantment".
Zoren, now feeling better, will search the room - Perception 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (7) + 15 = 22

DireMerc |

Sorry but I can rarely post during the weekends. I am usually not home for most of them
This is clearly a wizards lab were a lot of research has been done looking at the tomes here a lot of them have to do with time manipulation, necromancy, eternal life (various methods of gaining eternal life)
Taking 10 on each item would take over an hour but sure will just list it out
Lich's items:
Boots of levitation
Cloak of resistance +2
Headband of vast intelligence +4
ring of protection +2
Ring of Spell Knowledge type IV
Brooch of Shielding (81 points left)
Amulet of nether travel* Will explain that later.
Potions:
invisibility X1
fly X1
gaseous form x1
shield of faith x1
Scroll:
dominate person x1
globe of invulnerability lesser x1
In the room itself you find a number of interesting items such as
Cloak of Arachnida, a wand of inflict serious wounds (38 charges), three scrolls of gentle repose and a magic mirror hidden under a thick blankets covered in dust.
Ilithial recognises the mirror as a mirror of life trapping but it is luckily not active currently.
One item that you do not find is the liches phylactery.

Ilithial |

Well it makes sense that much of what the lich had would be good for my wizard. He would like to claim the headband for sure as its an upgrade for him. The ring of Spell Knowledge would be nice too. What does everyone else need?

Duskade the Wayang |

Possible items for Duskade that could work for her: Boots of levitation, Cloak of resistance +2, Amulet of nether travel* Will explain that later (could exchange with existing amulet, info please), and the potions. Ring is same as one she is already wearing. If other not want these items she take them.

Ahmose |

Ahmose takes a look at the findings, shakes his head, and continues watch.

Ilithial |

As the loot is being divided Ilithial notes First I had hoped to find a spellbook that contained the spells necessary to unravel this prismatic wall, and we have not found such a book. And there is the matter of the phylactery that could very well be behind the wall as it should be well protected. But I also observe that this room seems safe to rest in if we need to do so. Or I could return us via Teleport to where we could continue our main mission. I'd like to at least know what is behind this barred door first though.

DireMerc |

There is a spellbook but it doesn't contain passwall.
6th—freezing sphere, Disintegrate
5th—cone of cold, mage’s private sanctum, permanency, teleport, wall of force
4th—ice storm , shout, stoneskin, symbol of revelation, wall of ice
3rd—Fireball, Lightning bolt, arcane sight, dispel magic, elemental aura, fire trap, heroism, lightning bolt, phantom steed, seek thought
2nd—bull’s strength, false life, glitterdust, hideous laughter, make whole, resist energy, rope trick
1st—detect secret doors, endure elements, enlarge person, feather fall, mage armor, magic missile, obscuring mist, shield, shocking grasp
Teleporting from this location will be very dangerous. You can however try using amulet of nether travel which is not without risk itself.

DireMerc |

Alright so the amulet of nether travel. This one is complex and it will take a long time to figure it out entirely (several checks over a few days) It's an artefact.
What you do know is it opens gates from one place to another that travel trough the negative energy plane. Any being using takes negative energy damage. Good for undead not so much for living.

Duskade the Wayang |

Ah, she have no issues with the healing power of negative energy. :)
Who is taking what? If no one wants the amulet, she take it, but will need help to figure out how to use it.

Zoren Valkith |

Brooch of Shielding is fine for me - Ring of Spell Knowledge if Ilithial does not want it. I can also hold onto the potions if no one else wants to store them.
"Perhaps we should rest here and regain our strength? I would assume we have disrupted the plans of these foes. Via magic we can return under cloak of magical invisibility, then continue on our own quest".

DireMerc |

You can certainly rest here it is quite secure. Only one entrance and it is heavily fortified and the other possible entrance is blocked by the prismatic wall.
If Ahmose attempts to use etheraless to peek behind the prismatic wall he can. He find that behind the prismatic wall is a small alcove which contains a sarcophagus.

Ahmose |

Ahnose begins a breathing exercise.
I may stay ethereal for one minute. I shall go 30 seconds, before turning bach to report.
With that the Monk phases through the wall.

Ilithial |

Assuming Ahmose informs me of what he finds.
Knowledge Arcana to know how long it takes a lich to reform: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (4) + 21 = 25
Ilithial recommends We must decide what to do. If we stay here even a single night we run the risk that the lich will reform and come to attack us. Of course without his magic items he will be weaker than before. We cannot easily bypass this prismatic wall to get to where I think his phylactery must be. There is a sarcophagus behind this door and logically that is where the lich's body would reform. And it is quite risky to use teleportation magic in this place. The amulet of nether travel is one way out. This long passage is the other. What shall we do?
I have forgotten. Can we use short distance teleports safely? If so Ilithial could dimension door a group past the prismatic wall. Also can Ilithial figure out the command word(s) for the mirror with study?

Ilithial |

So the only way to check it out would be for Ahmose to go in ethereal, materialize in the sarcophagus, grab the phylactery, if present, and other loot, phase back into the ethereal plane and then come back. What could go wrong? lol. Ilithial could really buff you up if you want to try Ahmose. Any other ideas?

Ahmose |

My Amulet has ghosttouch. I should be able to grab it without reappearing?

Duskade the Wayang |

My new computer ETA is next Monday. Using my phone for viewing these adventures. I just going to use what is on the profile for now, as if she just stowed the items for the mean time.
Missing layers to this strange rainbow wall already. Who was here trying to get through? Could it have been the lich itself?, speaking softly from the corner of the room.

Ilithial |

Ilithial considers the situation. I wonder if we could tunnel around the wall to access the tomb. I could summon some type of burying creature or even an earth elemental. I would risk resting a single day but we need to act after that, either dealing with the sarcophagus or leaving.
If I understand it right the space on the other side of the prismatic wall is just a cubbie-hole large enough for the sarcophagus? If so could an earth elemental push it through the wall? And finally, with his roll of 25 does Ilithial know how long it takes for a lich to reform?

Ahmose |

Spellcasters! Tricksy tristers!

Z'dim Orwinstone |

Which layers are missing from the wall?
Z'dim pulls out a pick and sheathes it in aetheric force. "There's always the hard way. It'll take many hours, but I can get through. Shady's blades are small, but they're adamantine, so they could start cracks. Anybody know how to work stone?"
with empower I can get through almost 2 inches of stone per round. Looking at old stoneworking methods, they'd put in a series of holes around a square, split it with wedges (the adamantine daggers) and then Ahmose prys the block until it splits in the back. I telekinetically move it out and then we begin again. I figure we can probably get a pass age through to the coffin in about 8-12 hours.

Ilithial |

Been discussing this with the GM. Ilithial can summon creatures that can melt and burrow through stone. He is considering. Ilithial thinks we have at least 24 hours from the point we killed the lich before it could be back. Its a d10 roll for the number of days until a quite pissed off lich starts hunting us. I'd rather not be here when he comes back. So we could rest for 9 hours to cover spell recovery and then either try to use that amulet or head down the hall IF we cannot get to the sarcophagus.

Ilithial |

Which layers are missing from the wall?
Red 1st Cone of cold
Orange 2nd Gust of wind
Yellow 3rd Disintegrate
Green 4th Passwall
Blue 5th Magic missile
Indigo 6th Daylight
Violet 7th Dispel magic
It seems on this wall the first 3 walls have been removed.
