The Savage Hills (The war against the civilized)

Game Master chillblame

The civilized races in the south and west have always being a problem for the peoples of the hills, with their adventurers and raids, but now they seek to conquer the region, destroying its inhabitants in the name of civilization and the common good.

Not if the Wolftooth has anything to say about it

Sorry for the wait, Anol's crunched.

I would like a few tips on whether/how to spend the rest of my money though. I'm always very daunted with all the lists.

Just a bit of update, added some stuff to profile. That includes the still in work character sheet and a sketch for reference looks. Most likely over next day or two will finish up everything else need to.

I haven't made an alias yet, but I have the character done (as could be seen above), will make an alias if I get in, won't take long. If you check my alias's, you'll see I have a ton already due to running multiple games on here, so trying to keep them down to a manageable size. :)

I hear you.

Dark Archive

Alright so taking in everything that has been referenced for my character I've come up with a (hopefully) interesting idea. I'm hoping to work with Odak's original idea a large sized Half-Ogre to which I would have the character be a bit on the small end of large and play the character as a 'runt' who's been scraping by to survive in a family of giant brutes.

Originally my idea was going to be to just go to 'violent brute' route which would be typical of an ogre but the 'runt' idea has caused a bit of a shift in my thinking and I think I'd like to try out combining that with the skills that my character would have needed to develop to survive being a runt amongst those who would have never shown any pity for 'weakness' thus i'm thinking

Rogue 2/Barbarian 1
with a healthy investment of points into intelligence and wisdom, my characters needed to be clever to survive and bring to the table skills that none of the others in the family were capable of but with a quick and violent temper brought on by years of being 'the runt' and then being enslaved.

Ok final voting is going on. If you have not finished your character do so now. Exdigitate guys. I hope to have a decision tomorrow. Good luck to all. Every submitted character is gold, but alas only few are chosen.

I've returned from sleep!

Thanks for well-wishing everyone.

How about you give us a reminder of what your Mogwag's all about, and any more changes or details you've managed to think of since you first posted!

Grand Lodge

Sure Mogwag (can either be a Barb / cleric or full Cleric),

is a Refugee from a lower clan, he showed his skill and bravery during the last main battle.

He is soft spoken, confident in his skill. He isn't probably the most fearsome damage dealer out here but his in incredibly hard to kill (thanks to his divine powered magic). This has increase his confidence in him after the disastrous death of his former clan.

DM's Only:
Being the last or next to last Cleric of The Keeper (think Anubis like in portfolio and domain) he is currently searching for ways to "recover" evidence , clues, items, sacred place and hopefully new followers. It has been said that The Keeper had been dead for over 500 years. But he know that isn't the case. (Al tough he might be imprisoned or something else) Having being directly touch by The Keeper, he is currently searching while doing what he does for his Fallen brethren with the Burial Rites tough by the Keeper for the Journey of the Soul of the Dead

(sorry about this being relatively short but work is calling)

Hopefully not too late >.<! If I missed anything give me the word I focused more on the back story, I left equipment mostly undone save armor and weapon since I like to get a little in depth with that section and figured that would be something I could do if I was lucky enough to get picked since it seems like much less of a deal breaker xD

---------------Traits:
Vengeful:
Whenever you strike the last creature that damaged you in the past 24 hours, you gain a +1 trait bonus on damage rolls against that creature.

Harvester:
You gain a +1 trait bonus on Profession (tanner) or Profession (trapper) checks, and you may make these checks as if you were trained in the skill even if you have no ranks. Additionally, you do not risk poisoning yourself whenever you handle or apply poison taken from a venomous creature.

---------------Feats:
Level 1: Toughness
Level 3: Intimidating Prowess
Rogue Talent: Improved Steal
Benefit: You do not provoke an attack of opportunity when performing a steal combat maneuver. In addition, you receive a +2 bonus on checks made to steal an item from a foe. You also receive a +2 bonus to your Combat Maneuver Defense when an opponent tries to steal an item from you.

---------------Rogue Class Features:
-Sneak Attack
If a rogue can catch an opponent when he is unable to defend himself effectively from her attack, she can strike a vital spot for extra damage.

The rogue's attack deals extra damage anytime her target would be denied a Dexterity bonus to AC (whether the target actually has a Dexterity bonus or not), or when the rogue flanks her target. This extra damage is 1d6 at 1st level, and increases by 1d6 every two rogue levels thereafter. Should the rogue score a critical hit with a sneak attack, this extra damage is not multiplied. Ranged attacks can count as sneak attacks only if the target is within 30 feet.

With a weapon that deals nonlethal damage (like a sap, whip, or an unarmed strike), a rogue can make a sneak attack that deals nonlethal damage instead of lethal damage. She cannot use a weapon that deals lethal damage to deal nonlethal damage in a sneak attack, not even with the usual –4 penalty.

The rogue must be able to see the target well enough to pick out a vital spot and must be able to reach such a spot. A rogue cannot sneak attack while striking a creature with concealment.

Trapfinding
A rogue adds 1/2 her level to Perception skill checks made to locate traps and to Disable Device skill checks (minimum +1). A rogue can use Disable Device to disarm magic traps.

Evasion (Ex)

At 2nd level and higher, a rogue can avoid even magical and unusual attacks with great agility. If she makes a successful Reflex saving throw against an attack that normally deals half damage on a successful save, she instead takes no damage. Evasion can be used only if the rogue is wearing light armor or no armor. A helpless rogue does not gain the benefit of evasion.

Rogue Talent Level 2:

Combat Swipe
Gain Improved Steal as a bonus feat

---------------Barbarian Class Features:
Fast Movement (Ex)

A barbarian's land speed is faster than the norm for her race by +10 feet. This benefit applies only when he is wearing no armor, light armor, or medium armor, and not carrying a heavy load. Apply this bonus before modifying the barbarian's speed because of any load carried or armor worn. This bonus stacks with any other bonuses to the barbarian's land speed.

Rage (Ex)
A barbarian can call upon inner reserves of strength and ferocity, granting her additional combat prowess. Starting at 1st level, a barbarian can rage for a number of rounds per day equal to 4 + her Constitution modifier. At each level after 1st, she can rage for 2 additional rounds. Temporary increases to Constitution, such as those gained from rage and spells like bear's endurance, do not increase the total number of rounds that a barbarian can rage per day. A barbarian can enter rage as a free action. The total number of rounds of rage per day is renewed after resting for 8 hours, although these hours do not need to be consecutive.

While in rage, a barbarian gains a +4 morale bonus to her Strength and Constitution, as well as a +2 morale bonus on Will saves. In addition, she takes a –2 penalty to Armor Class. The increase to Constitution grants the barbarian 2 hit points per Hit Dice, but these disappear when the rage ends and are not lost first like temporary hit points. While in rage, a barbarian cannot use any Charisma-, Dexterity-, or Intelligence-based skills (except Acrobatics, Fly, Intimidate, and Ride) or any ability that requires patience or concentration.

A barbarian can end her rage as a free action and is fatigued after rage for a number of rounds equal to 2 times the number of rounds spent in the rage. A barbarian cannot enter a new rage while fatigued or exhausted but can otherwise enter rage multiple times during a single encounter or combat. If a barbarian falls unconscious, her rage immediately ends, placing her in peril of death.

---------------Race Traits
Darkvision: Half-ogres can see in the dark up to 60 feet.

Imposing Figure: Half-ogres are intimidating without trying. They get a +2 racial bonus to Intimidate checks.

---------------Backstory:
Surviving in Ogre 'society' is a difficult task for all but the most powerful of Ogres, those that lye in the middling grounds having to rely upon the strength of the family as a whole to survive, often until a clan war erupts these Ogres live difficult lives though very few realize this due to the rather poor quality of Ogre intelligence, weakness is not acceptable in any Ogre family and more often than not weak-born children barely make a week, in at least one family however the 'runt' of the family not only lasted out a week but lasted years and even grew to adulthood 'Runt' as she was aptly named was perhaps in some ways blessed with an uncommon amount of luck for an Ogress, she was not abandoned at birth for it was not immediately obvious that she was born weak, in fact her strong cries managed to awaken some small measure of pride from her father enough that it granted her enough time to grow, but as she grew it became clear to all in the family that she was not to become to strong Ogress that her infantile cries had implied. She was so very much smaller than her brothers even compared to other females of other clans she did not come close to measuring up. For this she was named for what she was 'Runt' and all the luck that had brought her to the point where she could think for herself fled, she was the object of constant ridicule and violence.

But Runt was nothing if not a survivor, she had grown up being told she would be strong and while her body was weak her mind was far sharper than her brothers, Runt began to use her smaller size to her advantage using her brothers almost mindless attacks against them if not to win then to escape harm. When it became clear that Runt was no longer the easy target of physical abuse the world became a far better place, her brothers began turning on each other and things settled into what amounted to normalcy for Ogre life, mother and father began to teach them how to properly hunt down and slaughter the 'tiny ones' and where her brothers took the traditional route Runt once again found she was not made for such, she needed to watch her food before attacking, learn how they moved so she could attack them when they least expected it unlike her brothers who could simply crash in and tear enemies limb from limb. But in this situation Runt found herself at an advantage over her brothers, Runt LEARNED from watching learned how the little ones fought and hunted and where her brothers 'tactics' stayed the same Runt changed.

While no paragon of mental prowess Father could see the strange potential in Runt, her ways were very strange and confusing to the family but most definitely they were a benefit, while Brak Goor and Halmok could tear apart innumerable camps and bring back dozens of little ones to feast upon Runt brought back enough little ones but also the shiny things that the little ones liked to hide away Father began to rely more and more upon Runts strange skills and even went so far as to have Runt explain the concept of actual planning of watching and waiting. Brak was not pleased with these new ideas and especially not with the runt getting more glory than himself, Brak was the eldest and most physically impressive of the family taller even than Father now that he was fully grown.

And while Brak was dim he knew of a few very important facts, he could challenge his father and take the family for himself, and while his father had the experience to win he knew of a way around this, he had eaten very bad mushrooms the last summer that had nearly crippled him for a whole week. Braks plan was simply, he mashed the mushrooms into the little ones intended for father and then shortly after eating challenged father for the right to rule, despite his dimness the plan would have worked if only because of the simplicity of it and the ease of execution, however Brak's 'deception' had been seen by Runt and once Father had begun showing signs of illness just before the battle she was able to piece together what Brak had done.

Brak won the battle with little effort slaughtering his father just as he would any little one, the deception in his act and most specifically the use of it against there father infuriated Runt, her fury was so blinding that she took her weapon in hand and attacked her brother right on the spot for what he had done, Brak defeated Runt with only just a bit less ease than he had Father, Runts fury made her powerful but Brak had strength to spare, but where he had slaughtered Father he left Runt alive, Brak had a far different plan for Runt, she would be sold to the little ones that she enjoyed watching so much! Runt was sold to the nearest tribe of little ones a tribe of the little green ones.

From there Runts life returned to hell though slavery to the orc tribe of the Bears was perhaps a lesser hell than to what Brak would have created for her as the new Father, Runt soon however found out a rather surprising fact here amongst the little ones she was not weak she was STRONG perhaps stronger than MANY of them... unfortunately her strength was not enough to escape enslavement and it was put to use for manual labors, she became in some ways a 'favored' slave as unlike many of her kin she picked up a general understanding of the language over time and could obey orders more easily even if she still despised those giving them, she learned more as she found the occasional Orc that spoke the giants tongue and was willing to give her the orc words so she could work better.

Her time amongst the BearOrcs was however cut short in it's third year, the war with the WolfOrcs was brought to the very fields she worked the two Orc tribes slaughtered each other in many delightful ways but as the battle drew nearer to her fields Runt devised a plan, she called out to the WolfOrcs in a crude bastard language of Orc and Giant she told them if set free she would help slaughter the BearOrcs and set her free they did and oh was the slaughter great Runt took hold of the tiny weapons of the dead and used them to carve apart BearOrcs left and right as the WolfOrcs pressed forward. Runt had earned a special hatred for the BearOrcs and when the raid was completed she followed the WolfOrcs wherever they went and slaughtered BearOrcs, eventually she simply became a fixture amongst the WolfOrc tribe, begrudgingly accepted because of a common enemy. By the time the war was settled Runt was a albiet distant member of the WolfOrc tribe, she found herself fond of them in her mind calling them hers they were clearly distrustful of her but sometimes they would offer food and they seemed just as eager for the thrill of slaughtering BearOrcs as she was, that made them more than fine in her book made even better by the fact that it had been they who had freed her.

Pretty nice stuff there Zain/Big-Runt! So much backstory that I'm sure the others will takes notice.

The only minor things is that your speed is listed as 40ft. I do wish to clarify that for Large-sized character they do not get extra speed or reach like those cast with Enlarge person do. Those aspects are actually seperate from those of the size itself when built with the advanced race guide.

Odak himself was built with the ARG and he had to take slow-speed (20ft in or out of heavy armour) as well as the same reach as everybody else. Obviously the other large PCs joining this game don't have to be slow-speed, but they don't get extra reach regardless.

40'ft Speed is from the level of Barbarian. Thanks for the kind words on the app ^_^

Oh yeah, I forgot about the Barbarian speed boost!

Attention
After some discussion, it has been decided to accept all completed characters. Yes all.

It is going to work like this.
You will all participate is a initial role play segment, and then you will be divided into different teams for missions. Team size may vary from 4 to 7, depending. This will be done by running different tables. I will be writing a chronicle, which lists each teams daily activities so that a)continuity is kept and b)we have a campaign record to enjoy. teams may intermix and change from time to time.

So you will be in a shared world. This is rather ambitious, but very possible to run. Each player will, if they want, have the opportunity to add to the worlds lore. For example Zain's ogre above could do a write up on the ogre tribes of the savage hills (this is an example zain, you don't have to if you don't want to).

Please report to the discussion room. It's time for the wolftooth to roar.

Dergosh has new greenskin friends, who are sure to enjoy his yelling!

Congratz to everyone then :)

Hit Die Rolls: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 5) = 10

You get max HP per Hit die No rolls needed

Oh, darn, wasted good rolls then. LOL

Nice! I can't wait for this to get rolling!

Awesome! :D

I want to apologize to everyone for not posting this weekend. Things are very hectic at our house as we are preparing to send all three of the kids to summer camp to work for the summer. They will be gone 9 weeks at a camp that is an 8 hour drive from where we live.

I will catch up and get into it as soon as possible this morning.
