Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it. I am wondering, do we not have memory of even having existed prior to the present moment? That sounds creepy, and also cool. Anyhow, I'll run over it again and check for anything not in the present tense, and maybe make a few minor adjustments.
Best of luck to all.

@Nergüi- correct. your mind is full of information: what your equipment is, and how to use it; what spells you know and how they work; knowledge in accordance with your skills, along with whether or not you have any idea how to climb a wall, or pick a lock, or build a crossbow... and you have a fully formed personality: likes and dislikes, quirks, a sense of moral rightness/flexibility... all these things make you assume that you had an existence before this moment, but you literally have no memories at all so it's possible that you could have been created seconds ago with all those things 'programmed' into you.
edit: I guess I should point out, too, you will also know your name (and, if applicable, the name of your familiar/companion/cohort)

AdamWarnock |

@Mia- as previously mentioned, I'm not reading anyone's setting spoilers (The hypothetical origin setting is to help you build a character that has some internal consistency and cultural identity. If/when you discover your origin in game I will make it up and there's no guarantee it will be the same as your hypothetical one. The more accurately/specifically you describe your appearance/thoughts/actions the more likely it is that your actual origin will end up being similar to your imagined one.) Other than that, everything looks good.
Got it. It should be interesting either way. :)
Thanks for the feedback, should be interesting to see what happens.

@Panic- I'm so sorry, I was convinced I had done you (but looking back I see that's not true). Your personality-description looks good.
@Destroya- yes, it is.
I'm off to bed. If anyone else got missed or gets something up by morning I'll try to post some feedback as quickly as possible (though I know my morning may be busy at work).

There's a bit more than 6 hours left.
Anyone who has posted here that they're going to apply (bigrig) or PMed me about (goodwicki), but is worried about making the deadline: as long as your fluff and the basics of your crunch are posted by the deadline I will consider your application. Like everyone else you'll have a chance to tweak your fluff on Saturday but it should be mostly done by tonight; for crunch I need your race, alignment, rough idea of class levels ("ranger/some kind of caster" is not ok, but "inquisitor with a few monk levels" is specific enough), and enough skills/feats that I can see what type of character you're going for. If you have any questions PM me.
And, if your new to the recruitment and disappointed that you don't have enough time PM right away and I'll extend this same offer to you.

Well that's the full list everyone, I hope I did not miss any one.

Whenever I run recruitments there are people who don't get selected who ask for feedback on how their application could have been better; I always do my best to provide that but this recruitment is so subjective it may be hard to offer much that's meaningful. There are a lot of good applicants who didn't get picked for a variety of reasons. I can't commit to a second table right now but if everything goes smoothly I may contact some of you about a second group or post another recruitment. Or, if anyone wants to put together their own game out of some of the unselected characters feel free. Thank you all for your work on these characters, and especially to Panic for keeping the list.
Now, without further ado, will the following players/characters please report to the discussion thread to prepare for gameplay:

I just heard from one of the selected players that the discussion tab was not showing up... I don't know why that might be, but try this link and see if that helps?

Congratulations everyone and thanks to Nate for taking the time to run this game and do all the work that goes into a recruitment of this magnitude!
I have to say, I thought I had a good chance to make it until Rin applied. Great application and I knew two Occultists wouldn't get chosen, so I kinda heard the death knell of my own application early. :-)
It's disappointing, but those who made it deserved it. Good luck and have fun!

GM_Panic |

Well done everyone who got picked, seem like a good group nate.
Now I know this my sound odd but I am kind of happy I was not picked,
I like my PC don't get me wrong, its not that. Its just as GM Nate went on with recruitment it became more apparent what he/she was after.
PCs with no past, who know things, thing is I have played in more than one rpg game here and other places that started by much along the same lines.
I personally found it hard, both as A GM doing this and as a player in such games. I found that once you got past exploring and starting setting players start and keep on asking the GM over and over, "would my PC know about this/that or the other?" in all game instances, where PC background was removed, the bad thing was it really started to lag the game. As a GM it also dumped a load of work into my lap that took away from players a key part of their game play. You see backgrounds do more than make the pc colorful, they let the players set reactions to events and interact with the great world and other players/NPC's. One player in my group Steven played this up to great effect. A NPC would say something about the world/or events with a "Know what I mean" and he would have his PC say. "No sorry I have no idea what you mean" We talked about it and he made a very good point to me the GM, he said. Background is the small chit-chat pc have, its the context for reactions, and founding of beliefs. If you PCs has none of that, if it says "I follow a god but have no idea way" or "I have no understanding of how you feel because I have never felt that before." you get a very limited game. He also said its frustrating when a players says they don't know something and the GM says they do, and the Players says they do know something and the GM says they don't. That one my whole player group agreed on, and so I chanced my game. The memory loss was short term and soon they had it back. I let them make a background and setting for their PCs. Work load drops off for me and happy players. Now this is coming from my own experience as player and GM, so its only my point if view. You may have an idea how to do thing in another away, or they just my not have backgrounds. But of they do, and not letting Players craft there own PC setting/background will in my view have unforeseen drawbacks, as players try to only use personality outlines and you the GM have to make up the short fall. Nate as GM to GM I offer this advice then, if PCs do have setting and background work with your players on them for the reveal. Trust me it will pay off.

...Nate as GM to GM I offer this advice work with your players on there pcs back ground reveal. Trust me it will pay off.
GM Panic
I certainly take your point, but its exciting having a background that you cannot control and if the backgrounds are to be incorporated in the story I would prefer not to know. One of the problems that can come up when incorporating backgrounds into games is that it almost necessarily becomes about one player who knows what is going on, and is more tied to events, in turn distancing the rest of the party; if none of the players know there backgrounds I feel there is less chance of this.
Plus as a GM its a great way to be able to drop spoilers in early that only make sense later once the group begin to unearth context, and those kind of ahah so that means... moments are very cool in my experience. Hold the Door, Hold the Door *sob* (Game of Thrones reference, that I am still not over in any way.)

White Knight II |

All good points WK2, I see your point, but my point is more a practical game play one, that game I ran with a group along the same lines as nates. I have edited my post to add in more info about that, and spoiler'ed it. Its something to bear in mind.
I played in a game where none of us could remember our past in a similar way. We knew what our knowledges told us, but generally needed something to provoke the knowledge. We had been told to pick Gods that matched our characters personal ethos, and with knowledge checks about holy symbols were able to get a bit of information and find it to our liking - because we had picked gods that suited our characters.
Gradually we pieced together that we were a party of famous adventurers who had vanished upon the Astral Plane. Then one of us died and turned into snow... My character later found out he was Married to a Bronze Dragon, we were hunted by a pack of Death Slaads lead by an Axiomatic Black Dragon Blackguard, we later found a very angry hedgehog that turned out to be our dead PCs real self and participated in an election process for a godly pantheon - good times.
In short I feel that most of potential problems can be minimized, and that PBP is an easier place to do that since its easier to identify and consider problems given the elongated real time frame.
In a way I suppose it is like having read the book of a film, not a deal breaker, but I find things much more visceral when going into the unknown.

GM_Panic |

That sounds like a good outcome, I would say, like my game how ever, I think the PCs in this one are not from the same setting, I could be wrong but I don't think they have a shared history. Could be wrong there, A shared history IS a great way to go. "party of famous adventurers" as your all finding things out relive to the group.
I think I better put my money where my mouth is. There where some great PCs made for this game, much better than mine. So seeing as Nate has said he can't run two tables at the moment, I have offered to run a second if Nate is willing. Nate will be Picking the PCs for that table as well, as he/she knows the setting etc. Ill just doing with his/her big plan. That is IF he/she wants me to help with that second table I will run it, but it's Nates Game and his/her call.
All best
GM Panic.
