Alexos can't find any treasures, but he sees that the Thassilonian priests of Pharasma used this hidden annex to their own crypt to conceal certain bodies from the eyes of the Runelords. The identities of those individuals secretly interred here have been lost to time but something awakened the bodies not long ago.
Alexos Virden
|
Well... the priests above will be interested to know their forebearers used to hide the dead from the Runelords... though without knowing who they were, determining why this was done will be impossible. Still, strange that they would awaken again now after all these centuries.
Alexos notes the room on his mapmaker and makes notes about it in his journal.
Well, shall we continue on?
Alexos will follow the group wherever we are going next... kinda lost with all the twists and turns, so can't vote on a direction.
Ting Tang
|
After pecking the skeleton to death ting looked around the crypt looking for any traps, hidden doors and anything interesting.
he will take 20 for perception looking around, I don't trust my luck as much as Alexos.
he will also search for more tracks to see if these skeletons were the cause of the prints they followed or if it could be someone else.
again taking 20 on survival.
bloody bony beserkin' bugger betters 'ave some sort o' shiney's layen's 'bout or som'tin' after all o' 'at. Wroight?

ting trying to be smart, doesn't yell, instead he goes to where Alexos and Felicitas are talking and explains quietly.
oy, blokes 'ems footy prints we's follered in, theys continue threw at 'idden doors at tha end o' tha crypty
looking at Hans and Sefu he adds

Alexos nods, and walks over to Hans and Sefu. He whispers them.
Ting found a secret door. Whatever walked through here exited it... and I'll bet a copper that it probably is what disturbed our undead friends here. Mind heading through the door first Hans? I doubt anyone we find will be friendly.
Then pitching his voice loud enough to carry down the nearby hall, he says.
Well, guess this is a dead end. We should probably continue back.

The acrid stench of chemicals and reagents fills this chamber, and the walls are marred by strange stains and scorch marks. Several tables are scattered about the room, covered in a bewildering plethora of glassware, alembics, retorts, tubes, simmering cauldrons, and smoking beakers full of brightly colored liquids. Scattered pages of written notes in a crabbed hand lie strewn about the chamber. A large alcove in the northwest corner contains a Bookshelf groaning under the weight of heavy, dusty tomes and scrolls. Three large glass vats stand against the eastern wall, filled with bubbling green fluid. Floating within the vats are three grotesque objects—putrescent corpses, tubes and wires embedded in their rotting flesh, their skin discolored with decay and chemical stains.

You see a hunchbacked, haggard-looking man in his 30s, with black hair starting to turn gray. "Hey, what do you want? Mr. Marrow, show them the exit." the man says. Mr. Marrow, a zombie, turns at you, he tries ot push you out of the room.

"Ah, we have our explanation on the disappering bodies. Well, I somehow doubt the priests above will give you clemancy... but I am willing to give you this one chance. Surrender or die.
Alexos speaks calmly but aims his bow directly at the man, trusting Hans to kill the zombie should it come to it.

"I don't care about the priests. They don't want to come down and sent some recruits. As soon as I have my own army of undead, I'm going to kill them! You, zombie, attack!" and with these words you hear one of the tubes burst and with a flood of green liquid a zombie steps out.

ARRRGH!!! OK, time to join your friends here in death!

Watching it sail well past him, Alexos draws another arrow and moves closer to Viincent and Felicitas for healing.

Seeing the dangerous man throw bombs at Hans Felicitas starts a song of war and blood.
Here I see you stand from all around the world
Waiting in a line to hear the battle cry
All are gathered here, victory is near
The sound will fill the field, the 9th. will never yield
We alone are fighting for Torag and our halls
We own the right to live the fight, we're here for all the clans
Now swear the blood upon your steel will never dry
Stand and fight together beneath the stonen sky
Warriors everywhere - raise your hands into the air
We're brothers, brothers of the 9ths
Like thunder from the sky - sworn to fight and die
We're brothers, brothers of the 9ths
Many stand against us, but they will never win
We said we would return and here we are again
To bring them all destruction, suffering and death
We are the hammers of Lord Torag, we are steel, blood and flesh.
There they wait in fury with swords in orcish hands
With dreams to be a supreme, first one should be a man
I call about and charge them all with a life that is a lie
And in their final hour they shall cry mercy before they die
If I should fall in battle, my brothers who fight by my side
Gather my shield and weapons, tell my family how I died
Until then I will be strong, I will fight for all that is real
All who stand in my way will die by steel
Warriors everywhere - raise your hands into the air
We're brothers, brothers of the 9ths

GM Baerlie, the round that Alexos was talking to Svillenius, there was a lot of movement: Alexos moved 25 ft. Sefu moved 15 ft. Hans, Felicita and Viincent moved 5 ft..
Would it be possible that ting would have moved up into the room toward the second target (Mr.Marrow) before the combat round started? It was his stated intention to either flank or attack the secondary target:-)
If its OK ting, would move 20 ft straight in the room, it will put him beside Mr. Morrow 10 ft. past Hans. It probably means that ting would also make a reflex save.

Once again, Sefu's khopesh sizzles with arcane energy as he steps into the chamber intending to cut down the zombie before him. However, upon breaching the corridor, the magus spots a strange man - the likely originator of the fire bomb that struck Alexos - and so he turns on a dime to strike at him with his shining blade.

"A true warrior fights with steel, alchemist!" Sefu shouts.

Just to be clear, Sefu's attack and damage are affected by his arcane pool and Felicitas's bardic song.

Alexos gets burned by the bomb and tries to shoot an arrow at Svillenius, but misses. Felicitas starts to sing the song of war and blood. Hans swings his greatsword at Mr. Marrow and smashes him. Sefu attacks the man who just threw the bomb and makes a deep cut in his thigh.

He then steps forward, maneuvering for a flanking position (not achievable this round, of course!), and takes another swing...

Hans swings twice at the alchemist and kills him.
Combat over
To the north Ting finds a disposal pit. The floor opens up in this wide corridor, creating a shaft. Ten feet down, the shaft appears to connect to another passage above running east-west. A grisly heap of decaying body parts lies at the bottom of the shaft. The air is rank with the smell of rot, corruption, and pungent chemicals.
To the south Ting finds a staircase. The stairs lead up 60 feet to a tiny chamber behind a secret door. While the door is easily visible from this side, it is not so easy to notice it from the other side. The door opens onto the upper, active level of the Godsmouth Ossuary. The Pharasmins have never found the secret door, and Svilennius used these stairs to access the ossuary and steal the cadavers he needs for his grotesque experiments. which means you just found the reaseon why the corpses are disappearing
The hallway ends in front of a big door in the south wall. A smaller hidden door is in the east wall of the hallway.

once he is satisfied that there is nothing else in the room, and after distributing whatever he finds to the rest of the party, keeping any gems in his position for safe keeping off course. He then goes and listens at the big door in the south and the hidden door to the east for any sounds.
you guessed it taking twenty :-)
Sefu Sekala

"Well placed blow, Hans!" Sefu says, wiping the blood from his gleaming blade with a cloth from the alchemist's workbench.
Though the barbarian's technique was unformed, it was certainly effect. With all threats destroyed, the magus casts detect magic and searches the room for anything of interest, whether of the academic or financial nature.

Thank you... I hate it when they use fire...
Alexos indicates the hole in his robes.
Well, time to see what he was up to.
Alexos examines the body for notes or manefestos, and the bodies to see if they match the description of the ones stolen from the crypts above.

You search the labratory and find some usefull things for alchemists: an full alchemist's lab and several books and notes of the Chymists of Life in Death. There are no magic items in this rooms. Alexos can see that the bodies are similar to the ones in the upper parts of the crypt. No noise behind the hidden door and no noise behind the big door.
I hope I did not Forget something. The corridor continues beyond the disposal pit (11). Another thing: you discovered why the bodies are disappearing, you can go back to the priests and and get full rewards (3XP and 4PP), or you can continue searching the other parts of the ossuary which would not bring you more XP or PP, only some additional stuff on your chronicles.

Looking at Alexios map Felicitas points to the south. "I think, we should go south explore the rooms there then see if we can check the blank spots between this complex and the one with the sin rooms. Just that we have a solid basis already explored. "Well, these bodies aren't going anywhere, and I'd imagine that our clients upstairs will appreciate a full map as opposed to a partial one. Besides, its not everyday that you get to explore anchient Thassilonian ruins. I'll follow you in, Hans."
So saying, putting final touches on his mapmaker and readying his bow, he takes a covering position next to him.
