No telepathic bond. Malak and I have a permanent bond and Darnak has a helm/hat of telepathy to keep him from breaking his vow.

Akor, which buildings do you want to search in particular? Houses, stores, the palace? What is everyone else doing?

Recon, making no attempt to hide. I sincerely doubt we look like looters. I'll even call out to him if I think he's in range. The trip over there should give Malak Plenty of time to run his errand. Especially if he uses the wind walk spell I gave him.

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

Id be happy to fetch yon pile of gold Sparel.

Familiar with the spell his cousin cast earlier; Malak summons his shadow to once again take refuge in his pouch before willing himself to become a translucent cloud of vapor. He then sets off towards where the Mystic Theurge's eyes saw the coin.

As he gets closer his almond shaped eyes scan the area.

"I thought the errand might appeal to you." Sparel says as Malak takes the semi-gaseous form.

Malak easily slides between the cracks in the rubble to find the good coins. There's a very large pile of them, spilling out of a chest that seems to have more room on the inside. The man who died carrying it Is dressed in a blue robe with a metal hammer symbol on his brooch. It's obviously some Technic League symbol.

The rogue gathers up the gold and wonders why this man was here and not in the headquarters so early in the morning when the attack happened. A quick glance shows there's a note on the man's body. Malak looks at it, but it appears to be in some cypher. He adds it to the treasure and starts looking for the easiest way back.

Give me a Perception check, Malak

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

Perception - 1d20 + 27 ⇒ (17) + 27 = 44

Sparel boldly strides over the rot and the rubble, his route taking him directly to the Gearman. As he walks, some looters run underneath the spellcaster's feet. They don't notice him overhead as the scramble toward the center of the city.

The Technic League fighter is herding these men toward the center of the city. The occasional burst of gunfire causes those who flag behind to speed up.

Soon, Sparel is within 300 feet of the Gearman. The machine he drives is massive, built to look like some metallic scorpion. There are guns, pincers, a stinger on the back and some other jutting pieces that don't have an easy-to-understand purpose.

Now all the Mage has to do us decide how to get the Gearman's attention.

Malak:
You see a bent tube sticking up from the dirt and rubble, slowly moving forward without disturbing the debris. It seems to turn left and right as it moves forward, as if it were looking for something. It is drawing closer to your location.

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

With the loot nestled safe and secure in his wonderful pouch; Malak notices the searching tube. He's quite unsure as to what it is but he's not here to attract any attention so he swiftly vanishes from sight.

7/8 Ki points. Greater Invisibility for 1/12 rounds

The tube glides past Malak without reaction. If the device can see through invisibility, it cannot spot the sneaky rogue. It continues onward, making a circuit around the palace and Technic League headquarters.

I wasn't planning on flying, but I wasn't sure of the distance. It may have been a necessity. I can work with that, regardless.

Quietly to the group, "Find a tactical position in case we need it. Solidify out of his sight and we'll go from there."

With that sparel goes to the top of a building or rubble out of the gear mans sight to take solid form. 5 rounds later a solid Sparel will stand atop the rubble and cast message aimed a the gear man.

"Pardon me. I'd like to speak to you, but I'd rather not be fired upon by accident. If you have all of your faculties simply reply and I will hear it."

Stealth to remain somewhat hidden but still have the gear man in line of sight.1d20 + 25 ⇒ (10) + 25 = 35

::Ive got the coins and a clue cousin. I also am hiding from some sort of strange tube that seems on a search mission. I'll let you know when I'm clear.::

So silent his own shadow wouldnt have heard him breathing; Malak crept towards escape from the seeking tube.

Thad frowned. All these games the boys wanted to play when there were more important things at hand. A green dragon to kill, in-laws to kill, and all they are killing now is time. "If he doesn't want to chat, let's get going. This bores me."

Sparel can be wherever he wishes. Wind walk was needed to get there given the rubble and dead trees.

Darnak moves himself into a more formidable position amongst the rubble and becomes himself again. As he does, he straightens his hat and then cracks his knuckles.

The Gearman is chuckling to himself as Sparel casts the spell. He stops short when the Mage speaks. There's a pause and then the man speaks in a harsh Numeria accent.

Not for him specifically. The planetar can help the innocens still here so we could go about our mission.

"Go shoot yourself," the Gearman says viciously. It must be some Technic League insult.

A turret on the underside of the machine pivots and some sort of metal firework flies out of it toward a building far away from Sparel. As soon as it comes in contact with something solid, it explodes with the force of a fireball.

Acid (ex) A black pudding secretes a digestive acid that dissolves organic material and metal quickly, but does not affect stone. Each time a creature suffers damage from a black pudding’s acid, its clothing and armor take the same amount of damage from the acid. A DC 21 Reflex save prevents damage to clothing and armor. A metal or wooden weapon that strikes a black pudding takes 2d6 acid damage unless the weapon’s wielder succeeds on a DC 21 Reflex save. If a black pudding remains in contact with a wooden or metal object for 1 full round, it inflicts 21 points of acid damage (no save) to the object. The save DCs are Constitution-based.
Corrosion (ex) An opponent that is being constricted by a black pudding suffers a –4 penalty on Reflex saves made to resist acid damage applying to clothing and armor.
Split (ex) Slashing and piercing weapons deal no damage to a black pudding. Instead, the creature splits into two identical puddings, each with half of the original’s current hit points (round down). A pudding with 10 hit points or less cannot be further split and dies if reduced to 0 hit points.
Suction (ex) The black pudding can create powerful suction against any surface as it climbs, allowing it to cling to inverted surfaces with ease. A black pudding can establish or release suction as a swift action, and as long as it is using suction, it moves at half speed. Because of the suction, a black pudding’s CMD score gets a +10 circumstance bonus to resist bull rush, awesome blows, and other attacks and effects that attempt to physically move it from its location. Black puddings are the scavengers of the underworld, constantly on the lookout for a meal. They can sense organic or metallic objects within 60 feet and mindlessly attack such items or beings until they are dissolved or the ooze is killed. A black pudding reproduces by breaking off a piece of its body and forming a new, smaller black pudding, which grows to full size in 1 month’s time. Some of the more intelligent creatures in the underworld use black puddings as natural garbage disposals, creating stone pits to house the pudding and throwing organic refuse or foes in as needed.

The pudding fills the entire cockpit and floorboard, with parts of the deadly blob leaking out of the windows. The driver of the machine tries to cover his mouth to keep from swallowing some of the pudding, but the fingers on his hand are already melting.

The Gearman begins drowning in acid and his own denatured proteins. A few stray shots fire from the metallic scorpion and then it just sits there as the pilot stops flailing.
