Harath looks about and listens intently for signs that any alarm had been raised or any force was on its way. He will peer out windows while trying to remain silent and hidden. He will also look for any obvious wealth that is relatively portable. If anyone comes, he will attempt to remain hidden.

There isn't much on the body, but a few moments of stealthily examining the room does net you a rather sizable pile of coins - 27 gp, 189 sp, and 1162 cp. It seems like the creatures have been collecting them for quite awhile now... but even better, this was the room of their leader. Hanging from the far wall is a masterwork light steel shield, worth about 159 gp, that the frogs probably stole from somewhere. If their leader had been able to reach it, the fight might have been even tougher...

You don't seem to have roused the guards - assuming there are any in the building - but you will have to figure out how to accomplish your main goal...

Active Effects: Human Dread (Fear Made Flesh) // Psychic (Dream) // Soulknife (Deadly Fist) 5 Mythic Overmind Tier 2 ||| HP: 104/104 | AC: 22, T: 14, FF: 20 | Fort: +7, Ref: +10, Will: +9* | BAB: +5, CMB: +7, CMD: 21 | Init: +3, Perception: +9

well, i was hoping that the king's death would disrupt their operations. my plan was to steal some, back away, and observe their reaction to reassess what needed to be done.

Taking the shield and coins, Harath pondered a moment. Their apparent leader is dead. Either this will motivate them to leave, or a new leader will just step up, and perhaps react badly. I need to send a message.

With that thought, Harath will take the king's body, using his still-sharp claws to cut and tear at the flesh and entrails, shaping the grisly remains to form a simple message:

LEAVE

Pleased with his work, he will effect egress through the window and attempt to leave the village and observe from a distance to see what happens in the morning.

stealth: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23

A series of loud croaks - well, louder than usual - can be heard as morning comes, and the village suddenly swarms with activity. A clear pattern begins to emerge, however, and one of the other frogs soon assumes command, giving directions to the others. They didn't seem to have any particular plans before, but sneaking in again will be distinctly harder now that they're on their guard.

Hmm, do they seem to be mobilizing for an attack, or just taking care of normal change of command duties?

Some of the guards are clearly on the lookout for anything approaching the area - and poised to raise the alarm if a major attack looks like it's coming. The rest seem to be listening to their new leader and getting ready for some sort of activity... although it's not clear what, precisely, they're doing.

Active Effects: Human Dread (Fear Made Flesh) // Psychic (Dream) // Soulknife (Deadly Fist) 5 Mythic Overmind Tier 2 ||| HP: 104/104 | AC: 22, T: 14, FF: 20 | Fort: +7, Ref: +10, Will: +9* | BAB: +5, CMB: +7, CMD: 21 | Init: +3, Perception: +9

Harath will wait about the general area longer.

He won't approach immediately by any means. attempting some kind of "long term" action here

He will watch the area until nightfall. He will see if there is any indication of impending attack on the human town, if so, he will go warn them as fast as possible.

If there is no warning of attack, he will wait until the dead of night when the guards are least alert. If it seems likely that he could get within 30ft of one, he will attempt to do so. He will be very conservative about this estimate of his ability though, willing to wait until the next night if the guards are suitably alert on their first night since the death.

In the daylight hours of the second day (if this scene extends until then), Harath will go check on the human settlement before returning to his mission.

If he can get close enough, whether it be the first or second or even fifth day, he will "skirmish" them, employing guerrilla tactics. Rather than attack them, however, he will make mental contact and harry them with cryptic and scary phases. Also, he may (depending on circumstances) create scary noises and such to cause states of hyper-vigilance that will tire them out over an extended period.

Hopefully they will think the place is haunted by their previous leader's death.

stealth: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25 can roll more if needed.

Despite the preparations of the strange creatures, there doesn't seem to be any indication of attacks on humans - and, eventually, you realize why this was. Your transformation during the fight inflicted wounds that looked far more like those of a beast than those of a human using weapons, and the creatures seem worried about some new sort of predator in the swamp. Several groups of hunters are dispatched to patrol the area...

Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13

...and while two of the groups spreading out miss you, one of them notices your hiding spot and starts moving close to investigate. The frogs are operating in groups of three - one of the larger warrior-types, a smaller normal type, and what looks like a normal giant frog hopping along behind. The other groups seem out of range for now, but that might not hold true forever...

Active Effects: Human Dread (Fear Made Flesh) // Psychic (Dream) // Soulknife (Deadly Fist) 5 Mythic Overmind Tier 2 ||| HP: 104/104 | AC: 22, T: 14, FF: 20 | Fort: +7, Ref: +10, Will: +9* | BAB: +5, CMB: +7, CMD: 21 | Init: +3, Perception: +9

Harath will manifest minor metamorphosis to appear as a strange, lanky badger-like creature with big claws on its hands, and burrow underground.

burrow speed 15ft, gotta get away from them and figured this was the best way. lasts one minute, i will burrow in a direction away from the camp at 30ft/round (300ft total) leaving no tunnel behind.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

The ground of the swamp is a little tougher to move through than usual... but not so much that your shifted form is incapable of handling it, and you're quickly able to pull away from the frogs and return to the surface well away from their immediate presence - the trees and other plant life act as an additional barrier to sight, and you do seem to have lost them. Unfortunately, now that they've spotted something, they're likely to be even more alert than before. It might be possible to continue assassinating them, perhaps by starting with the guards and making them too afraid to approach. Alternatively, the same burrowing used to escape could create an entrance from below and allow you in that way... but in the end, your options are limited only by your creativity.

Active Effects: Human Dread (Fear Made Flesh) // Psychic (Dream) // Soulknife (Deadly Fist) 5 Mythic Overmind Tier 2 ||| HP: 104/104 | AC: 22, T: 14, FF: 20 | Fort: +7, Ref: +10, Will: +9* | BAB: +5, CMB: +7, CMD: 21 | Init: +3, Perception: +9

Harath will go back to the town to check on things. He won't go looking to talk to anyone, just looking to see if anything is off or there are any signs that a rogue frogman has attacked.

Harath will then continue his skirmishing tactics, spooking them with sounds and mindlinks.

This time, however, he will make judicious use of meditation far away from the village, so that when he is close he can be in beast form.

If he catches a small group (no more than two or three guards) pretty far away from the frog village, he will consider attacking them.

The human town seems fine, at least for the moment - they appear to be getting more guards of their own (mostly youngsters eager to lend a hand after what happened), and it's unlikely that they're in too much danger. The frogs, on the other hand, seem to be growing increasingly paranoid about things and are sending larger groups on patrol... mostly because they seem like they'd be unwilling to go at all otherwise.

Active Effects: Human Dread (Fear Made Flesh) // Psychic (Dream) // Soulknife (Deadly Fist) 5 Mythic Overmind Tier 2 ||| HP: 104/104 | AC: 22, T: 14, FF: 20 | Fort: +7, Ref: +10, Will: +9* | BAB: +5, CMB: +7, CMD: 21 | Init: +3, Perception: +9

Harath will rest for the night (to recover PP and HP) and on the next night, assuming conditions in the frog village do not change overmuch, Harath will attempt an attack on the village.

He will use wild arcana to use minor metamorphosis to gain a burrow speed for thirty minutes at a time, and will burrow under the ground to circumvent the guards. He will pop his bestial head above the dirt every so often to orient himself, and his goal is to end up in the part of the village with housing. Ideally, he will get in at night while the frogs are sleeping (the awake ones being the perimeter and patrolling guards) and he will coup de grace as many frog civilians (women, children, elderly) that he can. He will be in his monstrous form.

If things get dicey, he prepares to flee underground, using another MP when the duration expires to extend his ability to travel underground.

One of the more problematic elements of the village is its overall swampy nature... the mud practically squelches as people move through it. On the other hand, examination of your victims reveals several interesting details - including the fact that there are no women among them. No men, either. They seem to be entirely lacking in gender (at least, as most humanoid races would define it), but they are separated by their roles within the society. However, while the truly civilian areas are mostly unguarded (except for a few patrols you're forced to dodge), the areas for the important members seem actively guarded with no easy way to sneak in. Worse, it probably won't be long until SOMETHING amiss is discovered... but without destroying their military capability, it would be very difficult to claim they were neutralized as a threat.

Active Effects: Human Dread (Fear Made Flesh) // Psychic (Dream) // Soulknife (Deadly Fist) 5 Mythic Overmind Tier 2 ||| HP: 104/104 | AC: 22, T: 14, FF: 20 | Fort: +7, Ref: +10, Will: +9* | BAB: +5, CMB: +7, CMD: 21 | Init: +3, Perception: +9

Well, disgruntled that he will have to fight these frogs, Harath commits himself to further surveillance, this time focusing on guard patterns and patrol routes for those that venture a good distance from the village.

He will also look at the patrol he is about to ambush before he ambushes them, to see what kind of weapons they carry. He is interested in seeing how they might modify their tactics, if they have any way to even do so.

He will remain as stealthy as ever, this time smearing the mud from the local swamp on himself to assist in his endeavors. fishing for circumstance bonus
stealth: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22

In the end, when fully rested he will select a patrol and attack them as they venture far from the village. He looks for a place where he can lie in wait and ambush them far away from the village so there is a smaller chance of an alarm being raised. Before he attacks he will prepare his abilities (force screen, beast form. will save untouchable aura and corrosive aura for later)

The group is headed by one of the warrior frogs, who seems far more capable than his companions - two of the smaller grunt frogs, and three actual frogs of some sort (as opposed to the strange humanoid abominations that these creatures normally are). The reasoning for this soon becomes obvious - the leader is more perceptive than the others, and it's his job to search the area. Unfortunately, mud disguises aren't much help against those who live in it...

One of the grunts is carrying a large net, clearly intending to capture any prey it finds - the other grunt and the warrior are wielding the favored dagger-like weapon of their people, though another net can be seen on the warrior's belt. All three of them are wearing leather armor - though the same can't be said for their small companions, who don't seem intelligent enough to possess such things.

Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24

Despite your impressive preparations and stealth, the warrior seems just a little too capable at tracking, and spots you before getting too close. His shout alerts the others, though an irritated expression flickers onto its face - as if it just realized that it lost the opportunity to turn the tables.

Initiative (Enemy): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15 vs Initiative (Yours): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

The frogs do seem quite disciplined, however - and instead of charging forward, they immediately brace themselves to thwart attacks. Your current appearance may have had a little something to do with that...

Harath will move forward cautiously, not charging. Before he moves forward, he will use a mythic point to manifest corrosive aura. acid, ref dc 16 halves: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 5) = 9

The creature stalks forward, green mist coalescing about his form, and takes a cursory swipe at one of the front-most creatures.

One of the minion frog-men swipes out with his dagger, parrying the blow with the foot-long blade his people favor. The weapon flips around a moment later and stabs inward, aiming to carve out a good chunk of your hide.

Attack Roll: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 for Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

It... doesn't work very well. Nor does it stop the other minion frog from whirling around and tossing his net straight towards you, attempting to entangle you within it and hold you down.

Net: 1d20 ⇒ 7 Incidentally, it would be great if you could fill out the other important details in your profile sheet, like Touch and Flat-Footed AC. Enemies will occasionally attack against those.

The first net goes wide, but is followed shortly after by the net from the warrior, who does seem to be a better shot.

Net: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16

The three actual frogs are holding back for the moment, awaiting the command to rush in.

Reflex Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25

And the frog-man you engaged in melee does manage to avoid the worst of the acid - quite handily, at that.

I think 14 is my touch AC. Not sure if force screen counts, says it works against incorporeal touch which I dont know if that's a separate thing or not. In any event, im hoping the acid will burn the nets to keep me from being entangled.

Interesting plan. Let's see, checking the rules... Looks like the net would be in your square, while Corrosive Aura only targets the squares around you (probably to stop it from hurting you as well). Doesn't look like it could burn the net off. You are entangled - Escape Artist (DC 20) or Strength (DC 25) as a full-round action will let you escape the net, and it has 5 HP if you have another way to harm it.

Active Effects: Human Dread (Fear Made Flesh) // Psychic (Dream) // Soulknife (Deadly Fist) 5 Mythic Overmind Tier 2 ||| HP: 104/104 | AC: 22, T: 14, FF: 20 | Fort: +7, Ref: +10, Will: +9* | BAB: +5, CMB: +7, CMD: 21 | Init: +3, Perception: +9

Harath will attempt to tear the net asunder with his blade-like monstrous claws.

claw: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

acid round 2, when applicable: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 4) = 7

One claw wasn't nearly enough, but several can work wonders - and it's basically impossible to miss something when it's literally wrapped around you. The first of the minion frog-men thrusts forward with his weapon a moment later, aiming for a quick skewer while you're distracted with the net.

Attack Roll (Minion 1): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 for Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

The sight of you tearing the net apart may have been more shocking than expected, however, as it would have been literally impossible for his swing to be any worse than it was. Seeing this, the leader of the patrol barked a quick command in his own language, and two of the smaller frogs (as opposed to smaller frog-men) hopped forward, their mouths opening to reveal surprisingly sharp teeth as they bit down.

Attack Roll (Frog 1): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7 for Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Attack Roll (Frog 2): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15 for Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

The other minion frog-man was saying back with the third of the trained frogs, pulling out a weapon of his own while he had the chance. Probably just as well, considering the way the animals' teeth were failing to get through your hide...

Foregoing his new claws, Harath opted to use the bleeding strikes he had learned to use, needing to bleed out as many foes at a time for maximum carnage while transitioning to crane style for his own defense. attacking two different enemies, the 1d4 is bleed that will repeat on each turn

acid round 3: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 1) = 6

The frog-man used his weapon as a defense again, sending the blow well away from his body... while the smaller frog wasn't nearly so lucky, taking the blow full-on. It wasn't enough to fell the creature, but it was clearly hurt quite badly, and the return blows had a clear air of desperation about them.

Attack Roll (Minion 1): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 for Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Unfortunately, there's a limit to everything... and while this warrior might have been good at parrying, he clearly hadn't spent enough time learning how to actually land a strike. The smaller frogs were another story...

Attack Roll (Frog 1): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21 for Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Attack Roll (Frog 2): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22 for Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

...as both of their mouths sunk into your flesh and bit down as hard as they could. They were rather impressive blows, really. It was simply their misfortune that they'd already been hurt too badly, as moments after their bites, the acid scythed both them and the first minion frog from life.

That was three enemies down, but three still remained... another of the small frogs, another of the minions, and one of the considerably more dangerous warriors of their tribe.

Active Effects: Human Dread (Fear Made Flesh) // Psychic (Dream) // Soulknife (Deadly Fist) 5 Mythic Overmind Tier 2 ||| HP: 104/104 | AC: 22, T: 14, FF: 20 | Fort: +7, Ref: +10, Will: +9* | BAB: +5, CMB: +7, CMD: 21 | Init: +3, Perception: +9

Wanting to dispense with both niceties and the little frog, Harath laid into him with two claw attacks and a bite.

claw 1: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

claw 2: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

bite: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (2) - 2 = 0
1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

Somewhat astonishingly, the small frog managed to avoid each of the blows, though the second swipe of claws came closest to ripping it open. It promptly responded in kind, starting with a pair of its own claws before nipping out with its teeth.

Attack Roll (Claw 1): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14 for Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Attack Roll (Claw 2): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16 for Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Attack Roll (Bite): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 for Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Its strength was rather astonishingly steady, but its accuracy... not quite so good. The second minion frog leaped forward a moment later, clearly hoping to land a blow while your attention was on the smaller animal.

Attack Roll: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19 for Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

The leader came in as well, hopping around to the other side before whipping his weapon through the air. As an older, more experienced warrior, he was naturally more accurate than either of his companions...

Attack Roll: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13 for Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

...which wasn't quite the same thing as being accurate enough.

Harath, now likely surrounded, starts to worry a bit. Seeing the acidic aura as his ticket out of this fight once more, he pulls it once again around him. He lashes out in an attempt to bleed his enemy, hoping to at least maintain the luck that he had only been hit once so far.

Please note how many uses of powers and abilities you have remaining whenever you activate them.

Once more, the smaller frog managed to avoid the blows, proving itself to be surprisingly resilient even as it counterattacked.

Attack Roll (Claw 1): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 for Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Attack Roll (Bite): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7 for Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Resilience, however, was not the same thing as accuracy - a point the two larger foes were trying to keep in mind as they lashed out, though they hadn't gone as far as completely surrounding you just yet.

Attack Roll: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17 for Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Attack Roll: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22 for Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

The first blow was a little less than perfect, but the second one was much better as a hit. Training and experience clearly had its uses, though no amount of training could help them totally avoid the burst of acid that suddenly filled the air...

Reflex Save (Frog): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17 2/10 HP.

Reflex Save (Warrior): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21 22/30 HP.

...and the minion frog fell to the ground, dead, as it took the full force of the attack. The others were luckier, though the small frog was clearly in trouble now.

You can indeed hit him. I'm actually trying to minimize movement-related combat elements in play-by-post - they simply don't work as well when you don't have a table.

The first blow is just barely parried by the warrior frog, shunted away from his body - but he's just a little too slow getting his guard back up, and your blow sinks into his body, dealing a fairly impressive chunk of damage and going deep enough that the bleeding won't stop anytime soon. 11/30 HP, 1d4 Bleed.

The small frog seems to know it's about to die, but that doesn't stop it from attacking - it's even more afraid of what would happen if it didn't obey, and all of its weapons are used full-force in a last-ditch attempt to make a difference.

Attack Roll (Bite): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 for Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Attack Roll (Claw 1): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 for Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Attack Roll (Claw 2): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 for Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

However, the pain seemed to be a bit too much... it wasn't simply missing, it was consistently missing by the same amount. Very impressive, in its own way.

The warrior, however, dropped its weapon... and as it did so, sharp claws could be seen glinting in the light. It, too, was a kind of frog - and it had natural attacks of its own to swipe with when pushed into a dangerous state.

Attack Roll (Bite): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24 for Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Attack Roll (Claw 1): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25 for Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Attack Roll (Claw 2): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 for Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Critical Confirm: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11 Nope.

Its attacks were considerably more deadly than those of its companion, and it slipped backwards a moment later, moving back five feet at the conclusion of its attack. That acidic aura was very nasty, after all, and it had no intention of getting caught in that again - though its small companion wasn't so intelligent.

Reflex (Frog): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10 -11/10 HP.

All that was left was the warrior... bleeding and battered, but still ready to fight.

Sensing the rhythm of battle, and the frogman's intelligence, Harath didn't follow up on the the frog backing up. In fact, he backed up 5ft and projected his psionic energy at the beast, hoping to goad him into coming back into the comfortable cloud of acid.

acid, round 3 of 3: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 4) = 12

psychokinetic discharge: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
1d6 + 3 + 1d4 ⇒ (1) + 3 + (2) = 6

ongoing bleed: 1d4 ⇒ 2

The creature raises its knife, slashing at the bolts of energy as they close in - and cleanly slicing them from the air, though the action does rip open its wounds and cause more blood to spill out. Acting quickly, the creature reaches back with one hand and covers its fingers with some kind of strange paste that it smears over the wound...

Heal (First Aid): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20

...and it seems to be surprisingly effective at stopping the bleeding. Throughout it all, however, the creature never stops being wary, apparently trying to decide on its next course of action.

Harath stayed in place, wreathing himself in psychokinetic energy before once again sending slashing claws of force at the enemy.

psychokinetic discharge: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
1d6 + 3 + 1d4 ⇒ (4) + 3 + (2) = 9

The warrior crouched down, ducking under the psychokinetic discharge as it gathered energy in its legs, then sprung forward through the air. Taking 10 + 17 on Acrobatics for a horizontal jump.

As it landed, and without hesitation, it unleashed a furious barrage of attacks...

Attack Roll (Bite): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 for Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Attack Roll (Claw 1): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 for Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Attack Roll (Claw 2): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 for Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

...though poor footing after landing ensured that none of the attacks came anywhere close to hitting.

Harath needed to end this badly, before he was struck down, and he went all-out attack on the creature.

claw: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

claw: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

bite: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (7) - 2 = 5
1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Seeing that the creature still stood, he took a 5ft step back and spent another MP now 2/5 to manifest Energy Ray, in an attempt to kill the beast with ice.

The warrior creature survived the first swipe of claws that hit it, despite the way the claws ripped deep into its hide... but it had no chance at all of surviving the burst of ice that followed... and it slowly toppled over, shattering as its frozen body hit the ground.

Percentage-wise, this wasn't a huge portion of the village - but the frogs have already been living in fear of whatever was stalking them, and they increased the size of their patrols specifically to avoid issues like the entire group getting wiped out with no knowledge of what had happened. This is definitely going to have some sort of effect on their behavior, though only once the village realizes the patrol never made it back. You could simply wait for that to occur... or try to encourage their fear somehow.

Harath will, once again, savagely mutilate the bodies in an attempt to play up the gruesomeness of their deaths, and spread out the ice chunks so that when they thaw it'll be more grisly. Then he will either take any applicable loot or ruin it behind him.

He will then remove himself from the scene, rest a safe distance away, and then take up surveillance once more, to see what effect this latest assault had.

"Hopefully they can't afford to make patrols much more than seven creatures..." he thinks to himself.

While not especially wealthy beings, the creatures did have a number of valuable-looking things on them. A Masterwork Shortspear fell to the ground when its owner shattered, and one of the smaller minions was carrying a Potion of Sanctuary - apparently hiding it from the leader of the group. Scattered across the group were 55 GP in usable coins - not a great sum, but every little bit of wealth helps.

It takes about three hours for the patrol group to be discovered, once another group passes this way - it's another group of seven, but after poking around the bodies for a few moments, they began leaping back towards the village. Their ability to cover great distances is really quite impressive, and after another hour has passed, a great number of frogs suddenly leap out of the village, over its walls, and away from the site of the butchered patrol. Many of them were carrying large packs, and it doesn't look like they plan to come back...

Fear is a truly dangerous thing... especially when it can drive others to desert their homes, rather than staying to confront the unknown terrors stalking and slaying them.

niiiiice. what direction did they hop off to in relation to the human village? away?

Harath will continue surveillance to ascertain what the new patrols are looking like after he gets a full rest.

The group of frogs does seem to be heading away from the human village - or, more likely, away from where most of your kills were. They don't seem to have made a connection to the human village just yet, but more importantly, they don't seem to be sending out any more patrols - the village seems to have been entirely emptied.

Harath will wait until night time and look around to see if there are any stragglers and see what valuables, if any, were left behind.

There don't seem to be any stragglers left within the village, evidence of their evacuation - and they looted most of the area, picking up just about everything they could carry. Nevertheless, a few objects have been left around the place, including a pair of boots that have a faint psionic aura about them. The frog-men may not have realized what they actually were, or they likely would have taken the boots with them. There's also 87 GP worth of mundane tools that, while not especially valuable on their own, could be traded for a tidy sum.

Harath will, pleased with himself, return to the town. His first order of business is to go see the town elder to report on his success.

"So I heard." the Elder said, smiling widely as you come in. "A few of our men volunteered to go keep an eye on things, and they saw the Tsathar running away. You've more than earned this." he passes over a bag with 690 GP in it, adding to your growing collection of wealth. "What do you plan to do now?" It seems to be an honest question - he's honestly curious.

You've successfully completed your first quest, and have gained enough experience to advance to Level 2. You will advance the next time you rest for eight hours - please post all changes in the discussion thread for review, after which the game will continue.
