Moving things along

Nathaniel motions for the others to go to Taliesin and he tsays behind to guard Brand and the wagon drivers.

Forfax moves up on Scout to 160 feet distance, David trails close by at 150 feet distance as does Elenzar. Both men have turned and ran to help their friend at the moment they heard his battle shout.

Taliesin on the other hand still faces a very angry wolf that snaps at his legs trying to bring him down.

Wolf attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 271d8 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Crit confirm?: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 211d8 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Trip: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27

Taliesin takes a nasty bite at one of his legs and a sharp bite, almost hearing the crunch of his bones, such power was behind the attack. He falls to the ground prone. The wolf seems satisfied with the apparent kill howls and moves closer to the west. (50 feet in your direction)
I'm guessing this puts you close to dying, as you are level 2 you are not dead yet. Roll me a Fort save if in negative hit points.

At the battlesite the drivers are getting anxious and the first wolves seem to appear close before them. Three wolves appear out of the veil of drizzle and bolt right for them.
Most of the drivers anticipated getting attacked and were ready for it.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 71d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 41d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 61d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 141d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 161d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 31d12 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Nathaniel Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 91d8 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12

Nathaniel:
I figured because your move speed is only 40 at double move you'd stand your ground with the drivers and protect them. I had you ready an attack for when the wolves came up close, hope you don't mind.

Brand and his cousin put one wolf down, another wolf evades the daggers thrown at him and then the crushing attack of Nathaniel. He manages to reach one of the drivers and tries to drag him down, the same happens over at Brand and his cousin.
Wolf attack driver: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 191d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 Trip: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Wolf Attack Brand: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 41d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

One of the drivers is bit right in his left hand and lower arm but manages to shake the wolf's teeth loose, before being dragged down.

Nathaniel you should check Paladins, they only get their first spells at lvl 4, you could use your Lay on Hands ability though. Use the underlying roll if you want to do so.

Taliesin, do you really only have 12 hp at level 2? If so you'd be at 3 con left now.

Forfax is 110 feet from the large wolf and 160 feet off from Taliesien, David and Elenzar are 10 feet closer.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but a double movement will bring me to 10' away which is in range for my Bill since it has reach. Also what's the rule again for attacking from above, because don't I get that bonus since I'm mounted?

Char sheet updated. i am still down but no where close to death.

You are correct Forfax, in both options. You get a +1 attack bonus on melee rolls when mounted. I'd rule mounts as higher ground unless you are fighting something that is a size category bigger than your mount. Which this wolf isn't.

Forfax manages to ride his bill straight into the wolf, it growls fiercely as it is hit in the flank. A pair of dark yellow eyes look at him menacingly.

Attack drivers: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 61d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 41d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 71d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

At the battlesite, Brand and his cousin manage to slay the wolf plagueing them, stung by one and his head sliced off by the Brand himself.
The other two drivers are not that good fighters and fail to connect any blows with the nimble beast. Two more pairs of eyes are seen skulking the outskirts of the site.

Crit Confirm Elenzar: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 151d8 ⇒ 4

Can I reach Taliesin with a single move and cast CLW?

if so...

David will continue to run towards the sounds of battle where Taliesin, only to find him on the ground bleeding profusely from his side and leg, with a blood thirsty wolf snarling at him and Taliesin.

David stops just behind his downed friend, out of reach from the wolf. David bends over, afraid to touch the crumpled leg that is before him. He gently touches the severe open wound, and whispers a soft prayer to heal his friend and make him stronger.

standard action: cast CLW...caster level 2??

CLW: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

also, are we npc 1/ pc 2? or npc 1/ pc 1?

You can't reach Taliesin yet with a single move, he lies 150 feet away. So you may retcon that David. As for the levelling Forfax and I talked about that somewhat earlier, you are, to be precise npc/pc 1; pc 2. One level of npc/pc and then furthering your pc levels as normal.

Grand Lodge

Full out run to get there then :)

So 2 HD then...I need to fix my hp, rolling or average?

Hp 33/33 AC 18 / 14 / 14 (+5 Perc; +5 Init; Fort +6, Ref +4, Will +5)

HD/2+1 hp David

David runs as far as he can towards where he thinks Taliesin is, but then makes a sharp beeline to avoid the large wolf standing in his way. You are now 45 feet due to evading the wolf.

Elenzar manges to hit a critical shot with his crossbow, cathcing the wolf deep in its neck with his bolt. The wolf seems to scamper a bit as his wounds seem to becometroubling, he shakes its head in denial and still stands.

At the other site of the plains, near the battlesite, Nathaniel slams his mace into a wolf's paw and he hears a crunch, the wolf's limping now and retreats at half speed back into woods. Withdraw action, he is now 50 feet away from you Nathaniel

The large wolf bites at Forfax and Scout and means to drag Scout to its knees. Attack on Scout: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 161d8 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11Trip: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17

The wolf fails in its attack, Scout manages to evade most of his snapping and when he catches the noble animal at his upper leg, he only catches a bit of leather from the armour.

I believe I said Scout had barding, I'm looking it up if he has anything better than Padded Armour he is safe. Edit: He does have Leather barding and is safe from the attack.

Two wolves close in at the west and attack the drivers and Brand.
Attack on drivers: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 41d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Attack on Brand: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 141d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4Trip: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

Brand takes a small bite wound at his leg, but manages to push the beast off before he is dragged down.

At the east the glowing eyes of a few more wolves looms at the edge of your vision.

I'm guessing the wolf did a 5' step to get into range for his bite. I think what I'm about to do is legal but if not just let me know and I'll change my post.
Upon getting bit at by the wolf, Scout rears up on his hind legs and stomps back with both of his hooves. Forfax holds tight to the reigns with his left hand and swipes at the wolf with his Bill held in his right.
Scout's 2 hooves: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 71d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20

Am I aware the drivers are under attack too. I rushed to aid the first combatant. Is any one back with the drivers?

Nathaniel is in the back with the drivers so they should be fine for a while.

Scout hits the dark wolf on its muzzle with one hoof and stuns the beast. The wolf goes down to its paws and its growls go softer, until it whimpers a bit. One less howl of anguish from it sounds across the plains and the other wolves seem startled by it. Then the wolf falls down on its side and breathes uneasily, the wounds on its body continue to bleed heavily.

The large wolf is unconscious and dying.

Combat is not over yet, so go on as you will

Waiting on David and Nathaniel to post their actions for round 3. It's also been almost a week since the last post, holidays haven't even started yet. I hope you are all still interested, I'll wait till next year at least for people to post, otherwise it's been fun while it lasted.

Still here, just waiting for my turn in the init so I can make my next post.

I'll DMPC David for now.

David runs up past the dead wolf, to Taliesin's unconscious body and kneels beside him watching the new set of wolf eyes with a slight fear. He seems to try and call up his reserves of holy magic, though it takes some time.

CLW on Taliesin next round: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Elenzar's sees the wolf go down and moves up to protect Taliesin and David 50 ft further to the east.

Nathaniel chases after the wolf that whimpered away and hits him with a powerful swing of his mace, breaking its back. He sees the eyes of the wolves on the edge light up and then disappear at the same time as he had heard the howl of agony from the east.

In the east the three conscious Greenbrookers see the wolves's eyes disappear as well.

The wolves retreat, combat over.

A slight cheer goes up on the western front.

"Are you alright Taliesin? That was very foolish of you to wander away from the group like that, you could have been killed. I don't mean to chastise you but during our journey I feel we have all become friends, almost like a family, and I would hate to loose any of you. For back home I had no friends growing up so to loose any of you now would break my heart." Forfax wipes a single tear from his eye then returns his gaze back to Taliesin, and this time regards David as well, "that being said if either of you mention this sentimental moment to any of the others I will run you threw with my trusty rusty pitch fork." He then gives them a little smirk before turning Scout back towards the caravan and rides off leaving Taliesin and David to wonder whether Forfax's threat was for real or just a little joke amongst friends.

Nathaniel I'm taking you do this when the eastern group returns to you. Please be mindful of things like not being close to others.

Knowledge Nature DC 13, Eastern group:
This brute of a beast is commonly known as a Dire Wolf. Dire Wolves are a lot bigger than normal wolves and resemble wolves in their most primal form. Mostly kept as pets and guard animals for Giants, sometimes they are also used as mounts for equally savage hunters, woodsmen and raiders.

Knowledge Nature DC 15 Eastern Group:
Dire wolves are not common place in Erathia, they are known to roam around the south-western borders and track after great battles. Sometimes following goblins around after their raiding. This lone one though might be a survivor or an outcast.

I'd also accept Knowledges Geography and Local for the same DCs but you'll get different pieces of information then.

In the west, brand and his cousin take a wolf's paw each and see to the wounds of their friends. One of them still having a nasty scratch on his arm, although healed by Nathaniel.
They pick themselves up quickly and get to pick through the last goblin bodies before starting up a campfire to rest and eat for the night.

Anything else you'd like to do with the large wolf or wolves?

Hp 33/33 AC 18 / 14 / 14 (+5 Perc; +5 Init; Fort +6, Ref +4, Will +5)

Yes, Taliesin will like to take the large wold back to the city in order to have a big pelt !

Brand and his fellow drivers lick their wounds and drive the wagons to the east as Taliesin informs them to take the large wolf with him. The two other drivers grumble a bit at the suggestion, though Brand can approve it.

"It's only right that you'd want to boast about it, wolves like these don't show up that much here. We're ready to move out when you are."

You will be forced to make camp again on your way back, unless you push through to the city at night and arrive at around 1-2 o'clock at night, save for anything that might happen.

Hp 33/33 AC 18 / 14 / 14 (+5 Perc; +5 Init; Fort +6, Ref +4, Will +5)

David will look on as Taliesin regains his footing and stands up, I agree, my limited healing will be of no help if I cannot reach you friend. I...we...have already lost so much, lets not lose each other as well.

Tell the others about what?, as David lets a quick smirk at Forfax, as he remounts Scout.

Wow, I sound like my mother, hmph. I guess she isstill with me even though we are miles apart.

Let us make camp, no sense in inviting danger into our lives any more than what we have to. Watches are up to all here, I will be happy to due my part and take watch. Just because my gifts are unique doesn't mean I cannot pull my own weight.

You could have 3 3-men watches if you'd like to be extra safe, 5 of you + 4 drivers =9 people to be on watch. Else you could have 4 watches of 2 and one person gets a very good night's rest.

Brand looks up as he hears the talk about skinning. "We're not really proficient with skinning beasts, but taking our time for it, we might be able to salvage a few skins. Wolf pelts are often still in demand anywhere around here."
