Shanosuke |
Okay folks, here is the discussion thread, I'll put something in the gameplay thread as soon as I can. Ask questions over here and I will do my best to answer them. I will also do my best to fill the campaign info thread with as much need to know stuff as I can. I will start by getting up faction information.
Anything I post in the Campaign information thread is info you will have ready access too and know.
I'll get what I can up this evening.
Also, this campaign has a LOT of names and in game information that will be YOUR responsibility to keep track on.
For example. You hear of a Noble, making up a name, Von Elwik. I will post generic information on this noble in Campaign info, stuff like age, profession, location, generic information. However, it will be up to you to keep track of where his name comes up and what relevence it has.
For example. Campaign info will say that Elwik lives in Corallas as a Realtor. Married and has kids. But in your journey, you find a thief that says Elwik also makes contributions to a certain guild of thieves known as the Black purse or something like that. That information will be your responsibility to keep track of.
I will also post relative knowledge results that are made known to all members of the party in Campaign info. Because it is generic info you will know.
That reminds me.
Skills by usage
This is a list of the skills rated from 1 - 5 on how likely they are to be used. 1 = Not hardly used at all and not important when available to use. 5 = Used all the time and at least two members should have this as a skill.
Appraise = 4 - Lots of buying and selling, good to know prices
Acrobatics = 3 - Could be used a bit, depends on your style
Bluff = 5 - Your fugitives now
Climb = 4 - Lots of buildings
Diplomacy = 5 - A lot of people, you can't fight all of them
Disable Device = 5 - Lots of doors and chests and locks, traps too
Disguise = 5 - Your wanted fugitives, best if no one recognizes you
Escape artist = 4 Tends to come up a lot in this game
Fly = 1 - Too many building and often to many indoor conflicts
Handle Animal = 2 - Not many animals in a city but it has come up
Heal = 3 - Helps but not necessary if you have a healer
Intimidate = 5 - This seems to be the most popular form of communication
Linguistics = 3 - Good to a point, most folks speak common. Available races, and one or two not mentioned.
Knowledges
Acrane = 3 - Occasionally
Geography = 1 - Buy a map or ask someone, easier that way.
Dungeonearing = 4 - More often than was initially expected
Engineering = 3 - Comes up some times but often not that useful
History = 4 - Always good to know the history of your home
Local = 5 - Your stuck here, best to know the ins and outs
Nature = 1 - Not much of that in the city
Nobility = 5 - HUGE, lots of nobles and factions.
Planes = 2 - Rare but it has come up
Religion = 4 - For you guys though 5 may work better.
Perception = 5 - always important
Ride = 0 - Yeah I said 0, not useful at all
Sense Motive = 5 - TRUST NO ONE
Sleight of Hand = 4 - Not necessary but extremely helpful
Spellcraft = 3 - comes up but not too often
Stealth = 5 - Sneaking around is almost required in some places
Survival = 1 - Eh, this one doesn't have much use
swim = 2 - at least consider a rank in it, not many places to swim though
Use Magic device = 1 Most of you are casters of some kind, not really going to come up.
Professions, crafts, and performances are a good easy way to make money and there will be time for these on occasion, best to consider something for each, at least in profession or perform.
Anyways, that's all the nit picking, we need to get this started. Pipe up here with your questions, I'll have the gameplay thread up later this evening.

Here's what my trained skills look like at present. I did one in each of the 5 monster lore skills just to be able to make the checks, so not sure how much it'll come up. I did short myself 1 point apparently, not sure where I'm going to put it quite yet.
Something I'm seeing right off the bat is that I think rogue may end up being more useful than inquisitor. No one has access to Disable Device at present (at least that I can see), and those 2 extra skill points would help. Thoughts on that?
Shanosuke |
The vagabond child trait gives the option to make disable device a class skill. It is also a good alternative to a complete class change. Disable device WILL come up and there will be times where that skill may affect survivability.
It is highly recommended players overlap the skills marked with 5s. It'll make your characters lives a lot easier.
Xzevrra |
I went ahead and swapped out Forlorn for it and moved a couple skills around.
Scrapeknee |
Scrapeknee's skills are (According to Hero lab): Acrobatics +1 (-3 jump), Diplomacy +8, Heal +4, Intimidate +7, Knowledge (religion) +5, Perception +5, Perform (oratory) +5, Profession (soothsayer) +4, Sense Motive +4, Survival +5
I bought some of them because they fit the concept (Oratory and Soothsayer) but I guess I could trade one or both in for a skill the group needs more
Shanosuke |
As I had pointed out, I have not seen survival come up much in my previous runnings of this campaign. Only one of you really needs it at best otherwise your kind of wasting points on a skill you may never use.
Anyways, I'm going to get up the gameplay thread in a moment here. Post in the thread once you are ready.
Malum Asasinato |
Okay going with traits Mob leader, Killer and Excitable (Gnome).
my skills are...
Bluff- 8
Disguise- 8
Intimidate- 8
Kn:Religion- 6
Perception- 2
Profession- Black Market Trader- 5 (Not sure what you think about this one also wondering if I could use it instead of appraise... also switch it to int skill O.o)
Stealth- 5(no ranks)
Shanosuke |
@Malum: No, just cause you know how to sell illegal items doesn't mean you know their worth ad no, it will not be an int skill. Two separate skills please. Thanks for asking though. Never any harm in asking.
Okay, Gameplay thread is up and it is a DOOZY. Take your time getting to it, there is a lot there.
Xzevrra |
I'm working on my post as we speak.
Shanosuke |
Yeah once the game is good and going I will close the former Crystal Campaign.
So far the posts have been good. Roku had a last minute change of mind about his character so he is making some final adjustments before he joins us.
Not sure where Malum is though. I'd like to keep this one moving faster so I'm going to start pushing the game on with regular posts, especially during certain parts of the week when I am feeling really active.
This is a fun campaign but there will be a lot of activity going on. Just giving you guys a heads up.
Shanosuke |
Currently I have Mamul as the strong silent follower. I'll give him until tonight to post but then I am going to move this on. I'll GMPC any fall behinds. I want this to be a progressive game again so I will be posting frequently and pushing it on occasion. Too much goes on in this campaign for it to stall to often. So I got to keep it moving.
I'm hoping he'll become more regular as the game progresses but if not, this game is possible to be played by three person though I'd like to keep it four. It's a hard game to introduce new players into.
Xzevrra |
To offer a possible early alternative, what about opting to recruit a fifth person now while the story is still just starting? We were originally going to have 5 anyway until Harn stepped down, and this would give us 4 still in the worst case scenario? Obviously up to you Shanosuke, but thought I'd present that option at least.
Shanosuke |
@Xzevrra: I am hesitant to recruit because this campaign has not done well with parties larger than four. Plus the last time I posted this campaign, I didn't get many hits. But it has been a while since we heard from Malum.
@Roku: If you'd like, it would help me identify appropriate traits in my own list. I will have yours later tonight for sure and was hoping to get it to you before I pushed us along.
Roku Sai |
Well like my last guy, this one does not scream holy etheir so limited choices again.
You gain an additional +2 racial bonus to your Charisma score.
You gain fire resistance 5.
You gain spell resistance equal to 10 + 1/2 your Hit Dice.
You gain an additional +2 racial bonus to your Dexterity score.
Their was one that was well suited to a bard but Roku already gets the bonus from being azata blooded so it would be redundent. The reason for these is because the most powerful Azata are beings of fire, their are also those among them with good Cha, Dex, and SR. A theme for azata is being fey like and loving the arts. Hope that helps, if not their are a few generic skill bonus ones on the list.
Xzevrra |
@Scrapeknee: When it comes down to it on the weapons, unless Shanosuke is ruling it differently, the sledge and pick are both improvised weapons so -4 anyway for me regardless. It'd be better for you to use the club as your a melee combatant, and I'll just try to provide a +2 Aid Another to hit.
Now if he's ruling that they count otherwise, heck yeah I'll take the club!
Xzevrra |
I bet everyone's in need of one at this point.
Just curious what the pick axe's stats are. Can't seem to find it myself on the list (unless you meant counting it as a simple weapon, then still need stats please).
Xzevrra |
I hear ya there. I need me a bow.
Malum Asasinato |
A Light pick is a martial weapon, but if you want to to be simple that's fine. Its a 1d4 weapon with a x4 crit.
The great club also a martial weapon is a 1d10 x2!
I believe I get penalties for being small because it's not a small weapon :/
EDIT: Actually I think because it's a med 2-handed weapon a small creature can't wield it. At least that's how I'm reading it :o So I guess I'll take the pick axe.
Xzevrra |
So just to clarify who has what...
Roku - Club
Malum - Pick
Scrapeknee - Sledge
Xzevrra - Club
...is that right?
Shanosuke |
Sorry for the lack of posting, I got sick today and haven't touched my PC all day. I'm not feeling much better and will be going to bed soon. Just wanted to inform people. I hope to finish up the rest of the stuff tomorrow and get you guys moving again. Sorry for all the delaying.
Roku Sai |
A little recap. Correct me on anything.
A Really nice looking Rapier- Roku
A Masterwork ShortSword- Malum
A Half eaten Cloak- ?
A really nice looking Light Crossbow with 16 Bolts- Xzevrra
A Really nice looking piece of Leather Armour- Roku?
A chewed satchel- ?
A strange Compass- ?
A Journal- ?
6 Vials of unknown substance- ?
2 Disguise Kits- ?
62gp 33 Silver and 18 copper- 15 gp, 26 sp, 12 cp everyone
And a badge with a emblem on it- ?
Xzevrra |
My thoughts depend on some information from Shanosuke of course. But at present, I'd recommend the highest survival check take the compass (to help us get out of here). Whoever holds most of the equipment we aren't carrying take the satchel to carry it (probably shouldn't leave any of it behind yet). I'm personally fine with Roku taking the armor since he's scouting ahead, but I'll leave that one up to everyone else.
The journal and badge, plus the vials, need more information on.
Oh, and these are OOC thoughts.
Xzevrra |
A swarm would be a pretty nasty opponent, especially diminutive. Immune to weapon damage? No thank you please.
Xzevrra |
Just a heads up that for the next two weeks I'll be in a hotel with poor internet. If I should disappear, please feel free to bot me. I don't think I will, but just in case.
When out, it depends on the story of course, but out of character, I think I'll probably start stalking my father, find out more about what's he's up to. Xzevrra's more than a little mad at him at present.
Roku Sai |
Roll call to PCs!
Sorry I seem to be taking alot of time but these two guys are hard to talk down. They are part of a big crime organization, which is the only reason I did not wait until they were drunk and cut their throats. Or surprise coup de grace one of them then start fighting the other. No need to make an enemy out of that organization if we dont have to. ;)
Xzevrra |
Phone post, will post later at hotel.
