Relief is visible across Vai's face as Khassar leans in and speaks. It is at that moment that Vai notices the forward edges of Khassar's wings are scaled, reinforcing what he said. "Y... you are?" Vai says incredulously, glancing at Nasima and Percy, then back at Khassar with a look of confusion. She takes a step back and looks at the floor in shame. "I... I'm sorry. I shouldn't have threatened you. I don't know what came over me." Taking a moment, and a deep breath, Vai looks back up, looking Khassar in the eyes, a small, hopeful smile on her face. "We're in the same boat aren't we?"
Ephebe and Krays walked into the office just then, unknowingly thwarting her father's plans to embarrass them with the PA system.
"Dad, Mom...oh, good, we caught you before you left. Finding the both of you together can be a bit of a challenge," she said, smiling brightly. In fact, Ephebe seems more cheerful than either Tamrin or Aananda had seen her in a very long time.
"What a coincidence. We were just about to come check on you, make sure you were doing okay," Aananda said with a straight face, trying her best not to let on what she knew or suspected.
Ephebe and Krays walked into the office just then, unknowingly thwarting her father's plans to embarrass them with the PA system.
"Dad, Mom...oh, good, we caught you before you left. Finding the both of you together can be a bit of a challenge," she said, smiling brightly. In fact, Ephebe seems more cheerful than either Tamrin or Aananda had seen her in a very long time.
Tamrin smiles warmly at his daughter....and then falls quite neutral when his gaze passes by Krays.
"Grayscale," he says with a nod.
"Ummm....." Ephebe blushed a little as she glanced over at Krays. "Actually there was something I wanted to talk about with the both of you....could we maybe go into the actual office to talk?"
"Of course, honey," she said, squeezing Tam's hand to remind him to behave himself.
Once they were in the office with the door closed, Ephebe felt suddenly self-conscious. She really hoped that her parents were going to happy about this. She didn't know how she was going to deal with things if they were unhappy...especially when she was so happy....
"Ummm.....Well, I...I mean, we wanted to tell you something important. Ummm.....the thing is that I imprinted last night after....after I got back. And ummm.....well, the thing is that this time the person I imprinted on, Krays, well he feels the same way about me, and we....well, actually we're bonded now. So, umm....well, we wanted to tell you, officially and all......I'm just so happy now, and I'd really like you to be happy for me too," she said, nervously.
Vakkler exits his hut, pursuing five Slarrow-sized spiders with a broom. "I leave the hut alone for one measly day and you bloody arachnids think it's your new home!"
The spiders scurry off into the forest.
Vakkler has the odd sense that a lot of important things are and have been happening.

She gets a resounding mental **I CAN DEW EEEEET!......NOPE, NO I CAN'T!!!** from him - but she can tell he's settled back down to his normal quirky, humorous self. ;P
The massive adamantine figure sits in his hole. Suddenly, gears start whirring, and his eyes return to their softly glowing active state. He stands, dusting himself off as he remembers what happened. Looking up, he sees the light bulb, taunting him for his failure. After checking his system, he realizes that he is not on level ground, but in a crater. Jumping out easily with the assistance of his rockets, he takes a device that should repair things, and the hole begins filling, slowly but surely, with solid stone, matching the walkway that had been destroyed. After this is completed, he decides, likely wisely, to return to the general safety of the school building, leaving the exploration of "outside" for another day.
Aananda saw Tam go just a little pale when Ephebe said that she and Krays were 'bonded'. ::BE GOOD!:: she reminded him forcefully.
"Of course we're happy for you," she said, hugging Ephebe. "Aren't we, dear?" she said pointedly to Tam.
Percy smiles down at Vai and Khassar. "There. See? Lovely. 'T all works out. Hmmm...so, I'm going to step outside for a bit of fresh air. You lot care to join me?"
Nasima is rubbing the fox's tummy, cooing gently to the handsome familiar. She pauses to look up at her enormous friend. "Mm, yeah, that sounds nice. Air's a little close in here after that memorial. I think, anyway." She makes a face and stands up. "Khassar, Vai, you comin'?" She's talking to the fox more than anyone else, really.
"That's Blackscale sir..." he says in response, grinning like an idiot. He seems giddy from Ephebe's 'happy'.
Vai glances at Nasima and back at Khassar. "I should probably go talk with Professor Sunwake about my classes. I might meet you outside after I've talked to her though?"
Having said her goodbyes, Vai heads towards Aananda's office. She gets a little lost on the way, but eventually finds the office and knocks.
"That's cool, talk to ya later!"

"Oh! Vai! Hi, how are you doing? You're here to see my mom about something? Um, we're just finished here anyways....I hadn't had a chance to thank you yet, For being part of the rescue party. From what I hear you were extemely helpful....That was really brave of you," she said, giving Vai an impulsive hug.

Vai looks back and forth between Krays and Ephebe... "Um..." Vai has a thoughtful expression on her face and then suddenly blushes. "Y-you two?"

Vai smiles, saying: "It's pretty obvious. I haven't known him long, but I think this is the first time I've seen Krays smile." Vai says, trying not to recall what Krays did to that man's soul. "Were your parents mad? Your dad seems like the type to take this sorta stuff seriously."

"Ummm.....actually he took it really well. I think that someone might have warned him ahead of time actually. At least it's better than when my brother bonded with Kam....Dad didn't threaten to shoot Krays," she said with a wink. "Or maybe he's just better prepared for this after having been through it before with my brothers.
Looks a little puzzled at Vai's reaction, but it doesn't last long

Fieri looked out the window and sighed. Normally she enjoyed sunny days. But knowing that her family would be here by morning at the latest if not sooner was spoiling it for her. She was grateful that Kam had been able to keep the storm going as long as he had. And prayed that Jiminy would wake up before they got here. She wasn't sure she could handle facing them alone.
"Stop worrying so much," Pan said, poking her in the ribs. "It doesn't help anything."
She glared at him. He was insufferable when he was right.
"Fine, whatever," she grumbled. "I'm going to go take a nap in the kiln."

Just before Ephebe leaves, Vai stops her and stutters: "Um... did.. did you and Krays... y'know... Um.... nevermind." She says, blushing profusely.
Vai knocks after having recovered herself from the embarrassment of asking Ephebe such a private question, and smiles to see Tamrin. "Hello Professor Sunwake!" she says brightly, "Um... Professors Sunwake!" She adds, seeing Aananda also in the room. When Tamrin thanks her, Vai beams, saying "Well sir, it was what you told me when I first woke up that drove me to it. You told me I had to make my own life now, and I decided I wasn't going to sit around and do nothing when a friend is in danger."
A young, black-haired Human boy dressed in bright green carrying a backpack approached the nondescript school for gifted children. His clothing was expensive, with tiny jewels and gold stitching denoting his nobility. The youth read the small bronze plaque at the gateway. "Avalon Academy" he said. The boy squinted up at the archway, then onto the campus grounds, looking at the main building. "It isn't very pretty." the young man muttered. Indeed. No discernible style or period at all. Most distasteful. said a voice in the boy's head. "I wonder what that explosion from before was?" Gustavs said to no one.
The sun-tanned youth braced himself, staring at an invisible point just a few inches in front of his nose. A scent of lichen wafted around the individual, then dissipated as he walked inside the gateway. Reaching to his chest, the black-haired youth wiggled a rough amethyst the size of a man's fist free from its golden wire necklace cage, casually tossing it to his right onto the ground. While in mid-flight, the gemstone extruded six translucent spidery legs, coming to a safe landing on the stone walkway. Search the perimeter, but stay out of sight. Give me a layout by nightfall. the boy told the amethyst, staring hard at it. The gem took on the appearance of the surrounding stone and earth, almost disappearing into the background. You will have to work many months to improve the presentation of this place. the enshelled amethyst thought back, and scuttled off.
The boy sighed, looking again at the main building in the bright sunlight. "All right, Gustav, time to see what so important about this school. The elders had better be correct about this place." The boy activated another power in his mind , and began walking along the stone pathway to the main building.
