She sighed. "It was ironic because I am not known for being demonstrative when it comes to emotion. As for the rest...You cannot see it yet, but take it from someone who has crossed that line in the past. You are at the beginning of a path that goes places you don't yet believe yourself capable of. If you continue to ignore your emotional problems you will find yourself traveling down that path. If you travel down that path you will either end up embracing it and becoming a villain in truth or you will end up realizing your errors after you have done something unforgivable. The sort of thing you can never fully atone for. That is what I was saying. Do try to pay more attention. This is your best chance to correct your course and become the person you wish to be. Don't waste it, Mr. De'Foul."
dave looks her in the eyes "how ... How can I do this?"

"You are going to have to do something more difficult than any quest you will ever undertake. You are going to have to engage in contemplation, self-reflection, and most difficult of all, you are going to have to address your own emotions. Not bury them, but feel them. Face your own pain and deal with it. You will have to come to terms with things like helplessness and failure and rise above them. Not by yourself. You will have help. But you cannot run away from this if you want to be more than you are now. Everyone looks at the flashy deeds, but this...mastering yourself...this is what makes the difference between a villain and a hero, Mr. De'Foul."

His raised hand now being the only thing readily visible behind Vai's wing, he tries to politely interject again before things escalate even further.

"Excuse me...If I..."

[Blink, Blink]

"Um.............." (=o_O=)

While the young monk has been educated in the arts of diplomacy, he is now having....a moment of difficulty...trying to remember when (if ever) he received any instruction on how to 'diffuse' a situation specifically like this. Knowing that silence would most likely not be an option here, he tries to reply in a way that will still respect Vai's privacy in these matters.

"I....am afraid that even just seeing such a spectacle would...damage...my calm, just as surely as being a participant in it. And then damage everyone and everything around me."

Rena's face fell slightly at that, troubled by Fei's plight. "Oh... I see."

Suddenly seeming to realize something, Rena glances upwards at the ceiling, looking worried. "Oops! I... um... I have to go. Sorry! Find me if you find a way to take me up on my ideas! It would be alot of fun!" Rena says cheerfully, waving at the pair she had propositioned as she hurries off to line up. She at least had to bring Bradley some breakfast, as she promised.

"Saving the world, helpng people, all that requires compassion. Compassion comes from understanding. An understanding that comes from confronting one's own weakness. And you will learn to rise above this 'crap' through the things you hate doing the most. Meditation and therapy. Since I already know that you are going to be a difficult patient, I also expect you to check in with me at least three times a week. Those sessions will be difficult. I'm not actually sure how to do that either, but one problem at a time....and I must say, you're going to have to work on your bedside manner as it were. "It is alright, Vai. I am sorry that upset you. But please do not be too angry with Rena - she genuinely did not mean any harm or insult to either of us. I could see it in her face when I explained to her why she could not touch me because of our relationship and my condition."

I can only guess that she comes from a very 'open' culture. Or perhaps she is a Sensate. I am...unsure, to be honest. And I hope it does not get her into undue trouble here..."

Firebirds -- Newly Arrivals

Having walked along in their prospective 'positions' with Sorchan Del Sol, for the most part, only Sven Brightedge was the most curious, asking various questions beyond ownership (i.e. status of who was who in Avalon) and administrative structure behind the school.

Clearly Sven was concern with ranks, or titles. He walked with a military manner, crisp and clean, keeping his palm rested on his sheathed weapon, with the other hand typically bent and behind his back.

Ulna Terrianos

Mostly walking along and occasionally pausing to look at whatever fancy or impressive, she alternates between startled and quickly recovering to catch up, wide-eyed and amazed at the non-Firebird common scenery and beings. Anything utterly inhuman looking gets a stare, depending on the degree of off humanoid, or avian, to a double take.

Tall, Thin Guy

This clearly haughty fellow doesn't seem to do much beyond follow along, head held high, doing his level best to ignore any non-Firebird, blinders fully and willingly in place. He skillfully skirts walking close to anyone else, while still maintaining his stance of 'airs'.

Ash Haired Guy

Walking in the back, silent, each step meticulous and measured, this youth is as quiet as he was when he first walked up, having said and made no noise yet. Anyone looking his way would realize that he doesn't really look around either, just fixates on one thing or direction and moves towards it if walking, or stares if not. He has an air of calmness and indifference, it might even get creepy if dwelt on too long. Doesn't give off any impression of being a Firebird at all.

From the nobles it's usually 'you there'...but from others, generally just Guardsman. Female guardsmen are exceptionally rare, Elektra definitely being the exception to the rule.

"My name's Alev. What's yours?" he asked, not sure if getting a reaction from this guy made him feel better or worse. But he never was the sort that could just leave well enough alone.

"Hi, I'm Etain. And you are?...I mean besides beautiful," he added with a charming smile

"When you make a mistake repairing your ship, do you blame the tools?" she retorted. "Just because you haven't learned to do it properly doesn't make it useless. You're going to have to try harder, Mr. De'Foul."

"Now, do you think you can handle going to class, or should I leave you here through first period so you can get a headstart on learning meditation?"

"Sorry, already gave them away," she said, sticking out her tongue at her brother. "Don't like 'em, can't make me eat 'em."

Parren, Ash Haired

Parren continues walking along, without really changing his body's direction, hands eventually returning to his back, holding wrists again as before.

"Yes. No. Interesting. Now, still?"

Most likely, not the best at social skills, but appears to respond.

His voice is even, no deviation of volume or what not.

Dave glares at her before he closes his eyes, calming himself saying "no, I'm fine, I find my mind is usually in better a state when I'm actually able to do something, be productive and all that" he says, depression seemingly forgotten.

"Uh...right...yeah...sorry to disturb you," he said, relieved for the excuse to get away. The guy gave him the creeps more the more he talked to him. Or not talked, as the case may be.

"Good. I will see you after classes this afternoon, then. You should hurry or you will be late to class."

With that she turned and walked away, her shoes making that same clicking noise on the floor as she left as they had when she arrived.

Parren, Ash Haired

The same familiar bow and nod, as Alev bid his farewell. Parren did little in his manner to suggest he had more to share, but, just prior to the departure, he states, "Not an issue. Understood. Farewell."

It might not have registered given angle of sight and such, with Parren in the back, but his eyes were mostly the only part of him that moved.

He continues walking in the back, hands returning to the position behind him as before after Alev walks away.

Serrin glowers at Etain, overhearing the fool gush at the Svarog girls. "What the hells? I'm at least as good looking as they are. Just cuz I have a funky hair color, and I'm paler than they are, they get all attention?"

With that, she lashes out with her whip, coiling it around his ankle. A swift tug later, and he's flat on his face.

If that's cool with you Lyn

Female Firebird

Lily walks along near to the front of the group, not having much care for the antics of the ruffians and other sorts that she seems to have fallen in with. Perhaps coming to this school was indeed a mistake. Such nonsense the others spouted... and the three Guardsmen of the del Sols? Abandoning their commitments, despicable. She hoped that the elder del Sols brought them in line quickly. It would be easy, with the Oaths they had sworn.

The school itself was certainly nothing to write home about. Stone walls and floors, barely any traces of any proper art or decor. It was all very... provincial.

Lily's haughty, disinterested expression remains firmly intact during the walk to wherever the del Sol heir was leading them. Her opinion of him was certainly in tatters.

Vai nods, and takes a deep breath, calming herself. Slowly, her peace returns, and she looks up to him and smiles. "I'm not angry anymore. I think I'm getting a bit better at controlling it. Maybe" she smiles a little wider and cocks her head slightly to the side. Her laden tray of food is still held on one hand, thankfully undamaged by the brief tiff.

"I... dunno. She was some kind of giant snake creature yesterday. Maybe her whole species is different? What is a Sensate?" Vai asks curiously, motioning to an empty table so she could devour her plates before class started.
