Building your own computer is a great option. I looked into it myself. But I really like using a tablet. Getting stuck in one location just doesn't work for me. ADHD in action. :P
I have to stay in one place... Lugging around a $3000-4000 water cooled 3 screened 32 GB RAM monster... Seems like a good way to get robbed...
so... To each their own...
;D

Nishioki is the largest port city in that area. It's a huge trade center. It's also the territory of the shinobi Clan Akuma. Chances are if you see a tiefling there, they're probably a shinobi. But they're not the only power in the city. Still, there's generally peace in the city. There are really bad problems with overcrowding in the poorer areas of the city, however.

Note on Vr head set including the oculus rift, you get 40 mins to 1hour tops game play before nation sickness sets in. This has nothing to do with the quality of the VR or the lag in motion. There is next to none with the Oculus, it has every thing to do with inner ear feed back. Unless your on a motion control rig, simulating you body physically moving in the Vr world, your going to get a disconnect between real none motion and Vr motion. This leads to motion sickness. So it looks great, playing games with it fun, but don't expect to be playing the hours you do on a desktop on it. Not with out a sick bag.

MisterLurch |

Except that I have flown highly immersive, military grade flight simulators with the hydraulics turned off for longer than that time and not gotten motion sick. The VR on those is so good your body moves as if compensating for the motion you do not feel. I am not too worried.

Typing on my new shiny now. : D
Definitely happy with it. Now I just have to transfer all of my bookmarks...that's gonna be a project. Well, that and figuring out how to transfer all my files...this probably involves google docs. Ugh. Hmmm....maybe it will be easier to just email files to myself.

It's true not every one is the same, we tested the system at UCL's VR/E lab and got 40mins to and hour average. I used to build simulators, so have a good understanding of them, we also found with prolonged use, users with have disorientation moments which would jolt a user out of immersivity. I would have loved someone like you in the study Linch, someone who seems to be immune.

MisterLurch |

Never said I was immune. I said I have not yet had a problem with VR systems, and was not worried about the Oculus system. I have not played with the Oculus Rift yet, so it may prove to be a problem, but I am not worried about it.
The only game I have had motion sickness issues with was Command and Conquer: Renegade, a terrible FPS. That one I could only play for 90 to 120 minutes before it made me queasy. Less time if I was on an empty stomach. I think it was because its movement did not feel like 'normal' human movement. Not really sure if that is what the problem was.

I am heartily jealous of your lack of motion sickness, Lurch. Of course, I'm heartily jealous of normal people's lack of motion sickness too, what with having an inner ear disorder...I got motion sick from going on the swings at the playground last week.

Ha, I hear you. When I was a kid I could go on the fastest, nastiest roller coasters without getting sick, unlike my dad. But now that I am the age he was then I get sick riding in cars sometimes, pretty god damn lame, I guess that's what I get for mocking him when I was a kid=D.

I believe either Kedikai missed that I'm in the same room, or has chosen not to respond?
I might suspect the same from narrator Lyn, but I have the feeling you're just finishing up with Kai first?
Yeah, I was just letting the scribe finish talking to Kedikai first. He will turn his attention to Rakki now.

Oh, I've always had trouble with carsickness. And boats. But I did used to love roller coasters. Now I get motion sick from thunderstorms. And loud trucks going past. I can't even ride an escalator, let alone a roller coaster. As excited as I am about upcoming vacation, I'm dreading the plane ride. There's like zero chance I make it that long on an airplane without throwing up.

lynora |

I am really sorry to hear that, lyn. I assume you have tried everything you can find to help?
The only cure is a surgery that would permanently destroy my hearing. Not that desperate yet. Yet.
In the meantime I've had to give up caffeine and cut way, way back on alcohol and salt. That's been enough to keep me at mostly able to function semi-normally.Planes are just especially bad between the noise, motion, and pressure changes. I'll at least take some candied ginger to ease the symptoms as much as possible.

Ah that sucks Lynora. As a fellow haver of degenerative diseases I understand the "every day tasks can be an adventure(an annoying one)" experience.
Still you seem to have a good attitude about it, that's more than I can manage sometimes on some of my more crippling days =/
Lying in bed all day is great! Unless you're forced to lie in bed all day, than it's annoying! GRRRRRRRR =)

Yeah, invisible illness sucks. And people often do not get it. But I realized a couple years back that I can let it bog me down or I can accept that reality doesn't match my plans and make new plans. My mom taught me that when life is tough it's okay to feel sorry for yourself. Go ahead and take like fifteen minutes and throw a pity party. And then put it away and remember all the good things you've still got going for you. Don't dwell on the bad stuff and it won't hold you back. She was easily the most positive person I've ever known. And that's in spite of surviving cancer twice, having heart problems, and an autoimmune disease that slowly killed her. She also taught me that life isn't fair. It's the first thing i ever remember her telling me actually. And it's a lot easier when you let go of the expectation that life is somehow fair. I don't come close to having as positive an attitude as she did, but I try at least. :)
