Carl basically put his ship in the path that the life pod/debris would take if it was not diverted. He was the shield for Kuros to keep the town from being hit. It seems that his black hole effect is really localized...or can be.

Mithros successfully knocked the life pod aside so it crashed in the not-town and the not-avalon, damaging the pod and causing parts to fall off such as main thrusters, retros, etc.

Carl's gravity well effect sucked up those fragments that would still have hit Kuros.

Melody and Renkai were apparently outside, I didn't follow that part really well either, and Melody got hit by one piece of shrapnel and Renkai shielded her from many others.

Mithros discovered that there was still a survivor in the wreckage.

Does that about sum it up, or am I forgetting things?

Lyn: I'll try to sum up the crash at least.

The pod broke apart, a lot of debris was heading towards Kuros. While Mithros managed to deflect the big bit away, most of the smaller pieces were still going towards Kuros. Carl make a singularity from what I cal tell, sucked in the remaining debris.

A piece of the pod broke off and was gonna hit Avalon, so Mithros shredded it with head cannons, which turned it from an impact to a rain of shrapnel. The pod itself hit hard somewhere in the wilderness.

Thanks. The crash I mostly had, but that sums up Carl's part a little better. I'll have to re-read his posts again.

It's all the rest that is giving me headaches.

So far Mel is getting detention and possible suspended from advanced mechanics class for walking away from a crisis that she was supposed to be helping with (aside from infirmary repairs she was helping track the crash) to deal with her personal life and Arthur has some splaining to do is what I have for the rest.

Also, I am off to a chiropractor appointment .. back in about an hour.

And Arthur appeared through a plot hole.

I misinterpreted them to be just outside the hall, and with a hundred foot movement rate..
by the time I realized they were outside it was too late to fix it, maybe I was on a bathroom break?

Heading outside because you were worried about Carl is the only reason that doesn't completely suspend belief that I can think of.

Ok guess I should explin myself.

Mel was asked to track the incoming object.

she set up the tracking and before she was able to give any information some "Taccom operatior had already given the information she was about to provide.

Jimminy was in charge and ordering Mithros to intercept but somewhere someone else started giving him commands.

Mel left the tracking system going to return to work in the infirmary sensing her skills were being overtaken by other systems. in particular this "Taccom" operator providing the necessary tracking.

Mel had no idea about the break apart as it started happening very quickly. her last tracking put impact and or inercept well away from school grounds.

she felt she needed some fresh air and asked Kai to join her for a miunte. then she was barely outside a few seconds when the whole shrapnel thing occured.

so basically if Mel was so important for that crisis than she should have been kept more in the loop on tracking the object than havuing some unknown operatior interject and take command. Mel does not have any of the communal communications that many others have. she followed her last instruction to track the incoming object (until another tracker took over.)

I only responded to the arcana check, as it was requested.

Melody, that whole tracking snafu was probably my fault for not reading posts closely enough. Though without any way to coordinate that you were also tracking the object, it is likely that people able to track it would have started talking to Mithros. But I apologise for basically cutting you out of your part.

also in Mel's defense it was posted that she steps outside before there were any posts about a pod crash or Mithros shooting I don't remember time wise with Carl though.

Lurch, I don't hold grudges like that at all. Mel has been underutilized several times sometimes my fualt, sometimes not.

If Mel was derelect in her duties than so be it. but lesson learned... define her duties when she is needed.

to a degree, I suppose you could say that, he doesn't like magic partially because not everyone can use it effectivly, now you make a technological object and with the barest bit of instruction (well at least comparably) they can use it, whether they know how to make it or not, that and he wants to be able to use his armor at the same time.

Mel, I already deleted a couple of rants here. Your explanation does not help. I'm sorry you got cut out of the tracking thing when you shouldn't have been, but it is a poor excuse for her subsequent actions and in character she will be in a lot of trouble and rightly so.

Edit: Also, her duties were well-defined. I'm sorry that you, the player, were bored by them, but this was partly caused by rushing ahead without waiting for people in the scene with you respond.

And did I mention that I was in a crappy mood because of non-game stuff?

I'm sorry I'm being so cranky. I know I'm usually much more laid-back. I'm just having a hard time getting there today.

The exlanations for Arthur/Hermes being outside seem wet paper thin. It really does seem like a case of "Oh! I read about a damsel in distress, let me go rescue her", even though you aren't anywhere near said damsel to realize she was in need of help.

I don't know that this is really devils advocate. Arthur's excuse is invalid. Except that when I went back and read Carl's posts I realized that he had a great reason to be there because that whole 'if you don't see me again it's been nice to know you' thing is exactly the sort of thing that would have a friend heading out to try and help. And then he got distracted on the way cause damsel in distress. (My job is making it work when it breaks down so I have to look for the reasons. Today my job is not so easy.)

As far as Mel being a Tony Stark type, it's not holding water with me. I actually don't think she likes tech at all. I think she likes the SIM room a little, but maybe that's because on some level it reminds her of a TARDIS (bigger on the inside, can take you anywhere, etc). Being good at something doesn't mean you have to like it.

sorry about that, I misread something about her leaving, I thought that she was just out in the hall, maybe 30-40 ft, I was also going to post that I went out there and help catch the thing, but I (somewhat erroneously) thought that was taken care of between the giant robot and Carl

I'm unsure as to why you are posting anything about what's going on there and not her (unless her note pertains to an event the two of you discussed in private, of course).

I just want to be sure of who's supposed to be taking care of this before we mix any more confusion into an already crazy set of circumstances.

Paizo took almost 5 minutes to just pull up this reply page (and I still figure out this evening's dinner arrangements with the wife), so it looks like I'll have to postpone further posts until in the morning. Since Fei's riding solo at the moment, that shouldn't interfere with anything else going on right now.

And I think I am sufficiently caught up now that we can unpause...presuming Paizo cooperates. It is running crazy slow.

And sorry again about all the dramatics. :(

Sorry your in a bad mood Lyn, life dos that sometimes.

Just add about Carl's actions -

1: he heard v Mel Jiminy and Arthur that the UFO his ship was tricking had broken up and bits where going to hit a factory and town,

2: making his mind up he left his ship at the school and Teleported, v Mels calculation on where the UFO would hit and used the one thing he could to try and save lives and that was

3: he Singularity raged, his "Problem/shame" in this one case could be used for good,

4: Becoming a Singularity he was able to suck in the falling object and save lives

5: But at a price siting as he was inside a Demi-plane with massive gravity there was a risk he could become a run-away black hole so his Armbands closed off the Demi-plane, ending the risk.

So Carl is locked away safe and sound but lost for now or ever??.

*I have to say I am with Lyn on this; Arthur you would think would try and save his buddy, but at the sight of a pretty face, forgot all about Carl. I should think this will play on Arthur's mind for all time, you lady's man you.

Ok I am back. decided to release any frustration I had with myself and other things today at a kick boxing class. I feel better now.

1. I would like to apologize to everyone especially Lyn for everything. I made several mistakes with Mel.

honestly though to say it won;t happen again would be a lie it will probably happen again.

second What ever in character repercussions happen then so be it I will deal with whatever happens. I probably deserve it anyway.

third as far as the Tech aspect of Mel. i was very intimidated with Spug's characters and their tech aspect. I didn't want to fall into the "solve everything with tech" trap so I scaled it way back. (maybe way to much in hind sight).

so please accept Mel back and help me to guide the character better please.
