"They look fine to me," Julian comments when Zahir mentions oil.
Julian shrugs. "Yeah, let's try to elevator instead."
@Dexter: Yeah, shame... :/
GM Baerlie |
You head over to the elevator, but when you try to activate it you find out that it's broken. Several mechanisms are jammed, but it can be repaired.
You know what's broken. which gets you a +5 to the repair check
It takes you one minute to repair the elevator.
The elevator has a complex pulley system that allows a passenger to raise and lower the lift from within.
Julian Keenens |
"Ehhhh... Great, what now?"
I can aid someone with my +2 to Disable Device.
Dexter T. Rose |
I assume Zahir could take 20 to repair the elevator?

Zahir Hor-Akim |
"It is going to take more than jammed mechanisms to stop us from going down into this mine," the young Osiriani says while pulling from his bag a toolkit containing several lockpicks and other tools. He then tries to repair the elevator.
Zahir could take 20 but actually he will take 10 for 23 (with his set of masterwork thieves' tools). And with Julian's help, the total will be 25.
GM Baerlie |
Zahir starts to repair the elevator and after a minute the elevator's cabin is free again and you move down into the mine.
This would be an unremarkable cavern were it not for the metal tower that occupies most of the space and pushes against the fractured ceiling. The fortress’s sudden expansion has buckled the chamber’s ceiling.
It's an instant fortress.
"Pst, come over here!" you hear a vispering voice from near the fortress.
Pierre Viret |
"Yes! Who is it? I can't see you! Bertrag, is that you?" whispers Pierre, moving forward with caution.
Dexter T. Rose |
Dexter follows Pierre closer to the voice, studying it for signs of deception.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29
Pierre Viret |
Pierre heads towards the tower and whispers back "Indeed she asked to rescue you. I am Pierre Viret, cleric of Iomedae. What is this thing? How come the cultists didn't notice it? And... who is with you? We come as friends, of course. How did you detect us?"
Diplomacy (improve attitude, ED+ToG): 1d20 + 20 + 2 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 20 + 2 + 6 = 43
Julian Keenens |
"Cave to the east, got it!"
Julian starts moving to the designated area, eager to get moving again after all the time spent on and in the elevator.
Dexter T. Rose |
"Doomsday Knights? Sounds like my kind of people. Brawk! Wait for me!"
Dexter hustles to catch up with Julian.
GM Baerlie |
"We saw the elevator moving down. First we thought it's more knights, but you don't look like them. I hoped to pinpoint the cultists and sneak out again, but then I found prisoners which were there to be sacrificed to some kind of monster. I elected to stay and defend the captives as best I could, but I can't sneak them out so I grew this fortress. Would you help us please? The cultists noticed it, but they could not break in so they let us starve."Bertrag says.
Pierre Viret |
Pierre nods calmly.
"Of course, we'll help you! We're here for that."
.Pregen/2. |
"So, let's keep movin' to the east and give these 'knights' what they deserve", they can feel anger in her voice.
Adowyn and Leryn moved sneakily to the east.
Adowyn Stealth: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28

Leryn Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
GM Baerlie |
Followings Bertrag's directions Adowyn heads to the eastern cave. On her way she comes to the cultist's quarters. The southern walls of this messy campsite are covered in shaggy brown filaments. A tunnel in the west wall leads down.
Once she reaches the eastern cave she sees an eroded room. The miners followed a vein of ore deeper in this chamber, leaving a wide pit to the north. Steep rail tracks guide the mine carts.
Hazard
The edge of the 20-foot-deep pit is unstable.
In the room she sees four antipaladin, resting and meditating.
Dexter T. Rose |
Using Blessed Infiltration to Stealth along with her.

Dexter carefully draws out a wand, his fingers itching to use it so the killing can begin.
Are we ready to kick this off?
Pierre Viret |
When everybody's ready...
Pierre draws his wand and blesses the party. "In the name of the glorious Iomedae, might your weapons strike true!"
Casting Bless! Please don't forget it :)
Julian Keenens |
As soon as everyone's ready Julian tries to sneak up to the anti-paladins.
Stealth: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
I figured them meditating probably means they have their eyes closed, but they have to be deaf to not notice Julian's "sneaking" up to them.
.Pregen/2. |
Before combat, Adowyn casts Aspect of the Falcon and Gravity Bow.
Now, she is ready to fight!

Dexter stands in the midst of the fallen enemies, shifting the grip on his sword awkwardly. He clears his throat, then glances up at Pierre expectantly and gestures at the unconscious bodies. "Any objections if I, you know...?"
.Pregen/2. |
"This is completely unnecessary. We are not murderers, 'you know'?", Adowyn answers Dexter.
Leryn walks around the antipaladins who doesn't died yet.
"Let's free Bertrag and the other captives, then come back to the temple."
"I cannot wait to leave this place", she thought as she walked.
"Aw, and we can bring the 'knights' who survived to the monks, and they decide what to do with them", Adowyn suggests.
Dexter T. Rose |
"Speak for yourself," Dexter snaps. "I have services to my patron to consider."
"OK, fine. But if the monks decide to execute them, we stay long enough that I can help carry out the sentence."
.Pregen/2. |
"'We' stay? 'Speak for yourself', I won't be part of this kind of thing. If they decide this and you want to participate, enjoy it, I won't do this".
Leryn looks at Dexter with a predator's gaze.
"Let's keep moving, will be better."
Julian Keenens |
Julian stabs each of the paladins in the neck, making sure they're all dead.
"It's simple, really. They were evil. Now they are dead, and they can do no more harm to people who aren't evil."
Julian cleans his sword and sheaths it. "Case closed. Let's report to the monks."
With that said, Julian starts heading back.
.Pregen/2. |
@GM Baerlie, before post Adowyn's actions, I have to know if kill a helpless and unconscious creature, despite his alignment, could be considered an evil act? I'm asking because of the 'Alignment Infractions' rules in the Guild Guide pages 35-36. With that beeing said, only to know, as a Neutral GOOD character, Adowyn won't permit that Julian just stabs the helpless and unconscious antipaladins, and will interfer if kill a helpless and unconscious creature won't be considered an evil act, in your opinion.
