So I'm in the middle of working on a naga aspirant nagaji for pfs and I'm having trouble deciding how to build him. My current plan is to give him the spit poison ability and have him focus on casting until he becomes able to transform into a naga and then have him cycle between spell slinging and melee combat. What is a good suggestion for stat arrays that would help make this character work?

I'm building a naga aspirant as well but taking a very different approach.
First my plan is to dump STR and boost my casting stats and other abilities instead and then choose an animal companion that will be my primary melee force (probably a spinosaur)
Second I plan on skipping Spit Venom as it seems fairly weak as a full feat especially as Druids are fairly feat starved yet there are a bunch of feats you will probably want to get (wild shape feats in the future like natural spell). Instead I'll probably focus on ranged attack feats that will work with the many rays the Naga Aspirant gets access to (stuff like scorching ray eventually)
Third I plan on focusing on buffs and other ways to aid my animal companion and allies. I may take a single level of cleric (of the Nagaji god) for the Magic (Divine) and Nobility (leadership) subdomains. I'll probably look at variant channeling options as well - probably nature (which means my channels will heal my animal companion more but my allies less) though I may look at other variant options that might work as well.

Yeah I planned on grabbing an animal companion as well but my worry is that I'll end up with under powered wis and be kind of half-ass when it comes to melee combat later which kind of defeats the purpose since I like the idea of nasty ranged spells and then being able to just crush people in my snaky coils.

You can make even a high level character in PFS that isn't a melee specialist - just because you use Wild Shape doesn't mean you have to focus on getting into Melee - you can use your wild shape for other advantages and focus on spells & buffs (and on your animal companion). High level animal companions can be exceptionally effective - especially if you invest in equipment and well-timed buffs for them. More so than just a regular creature of the same time an animal companion will have a far more tailored set of feats and skills as well as equipment to be highly effective in combat. Sure they aren't a full BAB class - but they can start with advantages that few full BAB PCs will have all the time - like being large, having reach, having special movement speeds and in many cases having very high stats on top of all of that.
Your Wild Shape whether Naga form or something else can be primarily defensive - the Naga Aspirant more so than most other Druids is very well designed for being a caster centric build - you get many of the best Arcane spells available to you
And remember that you can use most of these great spells as buffs for your animal companion via share spells as well:
i.e. Mage Armor, Mirror Image, Displacement, Greater Invis, Divine Power, Shield, Shield of Faith, See Invis and many others are all great if cast on your animal companion - something few other characters in the game would be able to pull off (even a Sylvan Sorcerer doesn't get access to a few of those spells)
