Hey, everybody. Since this is going to be the first time we'll all be running a Play-by-post game, I thought I should get a few tings out of the way, first.
1) Point Of View:
I don't really care whether we should be posting (in the actual adventure thread) in first or third person. I know that I, as GM will be using third person, even when I'm emulating an NPC. You guys can vote here as to whether you'll be using first or third person yourselves.
2) Trust:
There will be a certain amount of trust given in this adventure as far as secrecy goes. Whenever I call for something like a perception check, it will flow like this:
Example: Perception Check
When you make your roll, I expect that, should it fail, you will not check the spoiler tag. If you absolutely must, I expect your character to act as if you hadn't.
We're acting on the honor system. Don't break my trust and cheat. It doesn't make the game any more fun.
3) Dice Rolls:
Rolls will be made using the BBCode tags given at the bottom of the text box. Once you enter a dice expression, you can preview your post to see what you rolled and post your response accordingly. It will always remain the same result, so you can check, respond to it, post, and it will all come out correctly.
Example: Perception Check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
As you can see, I made the DC, so I would respond by saying:
I gaze out at the interesting thing, turn back to the party, and say, "Holy Crap! Do you see that? It's so interesting!"
4) BBCode Tags:
As you will see at the bottom of the text box, when you are making a new post, there is a section labeled "BBCode tags you can use:" with a "Show" button next to it. Click it, and you can see all the tags available for you to use in your posts. These are the only way for you to bold, italicize, or do other things to your posts.
They will be used in the following ways:
Bold: Bold tags will be used for dialogue. I expect all speech to be within quotation marks and bolded.
Example: "This text is dialogue! You can tell because there are quotes around it, and it's bold! Isn't that neat-o?"
NOTE: Quotes does not mean the Quote tag. That's for referencing something someone else said in the thread.
Italics: Italics will be used for character thought. You do not need quotes around character thought.
Example: This is a thought. You can tell because it's italicized.
BIG and small text: Use at your own whim. I would suggest using big text for emphasized yelling, and small text for whispers, just to make it fun, but I don't have any requirements on these.
Out-of-Character or OOC: OOC text is blue, and should be used for two reasons.
1) Labeling a roll.
2) Speaking out of character.
Examples: Perception Check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
How do I speak out of character? Oh yeah! Turn it Blue!
5) Combat
Combat will be pretty simple. There will be no maps. I will describe the scene and assign you initiative orders. At that point, you will act in initiative order. Please don't post before the person before you acts.
Attacks will be made using the following format:
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
You can describe your attack as much or as little as you like. Just be sure you let me know what you're attacking with, at the very least. It can be as simple as: I swing with my sword; or as complex as: I let out a battle cry and drive my blade forth, attempting to skewer the beast's belly along its length.
I will then determine whether you succeed or fail, and describe the resolution of the attack.
6) Adventuring, Treasure Hunting, and Diplomacy
All of these things will be a part of this campaign. It will be an adventure across the seas and the land, so expect exploration and travel time. You can use this time to expand upon your characters, talk with each other, and just use it for development.
Treasure hunting will range from seeking a dragon's horde in a cave to pulling up sunken treasure chests. The exact rules for it will be determined when the time comes. Just know that it won't be so easy as "Lower crane into water, pull out chest."
Diplomacy will hinge quite a bit on your ability to speak with the people whom you meet. Discover the things they like and dislike, converse with them, and convince them. While there will be diplomacy rolls available, they'll mostly be for things such as gathering information or making requests.
7) Forum Etiquette
I expect everyone to behave properly. Keep it in-character, and keep it appropriate. I don't care about swearing, and gore is all right, but we don't need to go into in-depth sex scenes and the like.
Also, grammar will be a pretty big deal. So far, you've all done well as far as crossing your I's and dotting your T's. Let's try to keep it that way. I don't want this to turn into a bunch of neanderthals spouting posts like:
i liek her so i totally go up and say [b[We need ta do it![/b]
Make sure your I's are capitalized, your sentences have punctuation, and everything looks and sounds nice. I encourage you to read your posts aloud before you post them.
8) Conclusion
Nothing much here. Have a good time, use this thread to test out the BBCode tags, vote for point-of-view, and ask any questions you have.

Yell!
Thinking...
It is I, Cody.Nice to see you. Love the picture. It's very...Louisiana.
And don't forget to put quotes around the yelling. ;)
Haha I know. I can remember that. I got the hang of this online PBP thing, so I'm ready to go!
"So am I!"Is everyone else pretty much ready to go? Kenny said he is a fighter. What's Amon's backround and Kenny's story?

Christopher Delvo |

I'm ready to start my adventure
The game begins tonight! -ish.
Ammon's internet is out, so he's out until he can get it running again. I'm starting without him.
The general idea is this:
1st person posts (I do this, as opposed to My Character does this)
Post at least once a day, except for weekends. Combat will probably move a bit quicker. I'll be sure to post as well, and check several times per day to respond to you guys.
Remember to switch to your character alias when posting in-character. And remember the guidelines above.
I'll send you the link via e-mail later tonight. Going out to dinner, so I won't really have time until then.

Hey, just letting you know as far as my days off are concerned, I'm free all day. At work I should be able to post from 0700 to 1730. Then I'll be free at home to play.
Also, whenever we need to purchase equipment or craft checks, would you like is to annotate so, change the items on our character sheet, whileaking sure to annotate it briefly in game?

Just role-play out the equipment thing. And craft checks can be made during travel time (you are crossing seas on a boat). Just roll it as normal when you've got the time (which I'll note).

Slowly. I'm working on quite a few projects right now.
If you want to help on any of these, I currently need:
I also told Kenny and Ammon to get their asses in gear and start posting.

Campaign Guide Update:
I'm dropping my original philosophy angle and instead I'm just creating a customized pantheon of gods based on mythology, nerd culture and my own designs:
Zelda - A goddess representative of civilization and law. Her followers often take up positions within cities as barristers, guards and politicians.
Real-World Origin: Obvious.
Kal-El - A paragon of righteousness and honor. His followers are often paladins and knights, dedicated to helping and defending others.
Real-World Origin: Kal-El is the Kryptonian name of Superman.
Arthur - Arthur represents the power of command, loyalty and strategy. His followers are often battlefield commanders and generals, dedicated to discipline and strength.
Real-World Origin: King Arthur.
Gaea - The goddess of Esperim itself. She is master of nature, the seas and all the weather of the world. Her followers are often secluded monks and druids whose dedication to the planet is their life.
Real-World Origin: Ancient Greek Titan.
Galadriel - She is the goddess of mysticism, dreams and the heavens above. Those who follow her are often scholars who wish to better understand the stars and their connection to living beings and their minds.
Real-World Origin: Character from Lord of the Rings.
Oa - Oa is the deity whom represents balance in the universe and the power of magic, Oa is neither considered male or female, but is rather a representation of its ideals. Its followers are usually spellcasters who understand how magic must be balanced with the rest of nature.
Real-World Origin: Planetary base of the Green Lantern Corps.
Lancelot - He represents chivalry and valor, and is the patron god of heroes. His followers are usually warriors whose romantic ideals lead them to heroism, rescuing damsels in distress and defending the ideals of good and altruism.
Real-World Origin: F*ckin' Lancelot
Artemis - This goddess is a representative of community, agriculture and hunting. Smaller communities often still pray to her, as well as many rangers and nomads whom live off the land.
Real-World Origin: Greek Goddess of the Hunt.
Diana - The goddess of strength and bravery in battle. Her followers are soldiers and warriors who prize prowess in battle above all else.
Real-World Origin: Technically the Roman Goddess of the Hunt, but I chose it because it's Wonder Woman's real name.
The Locksmith - The god of tricksters and secret-keepers. His followers range from government agents to petty street urchins.
Real-World Origin: None. My idea.
Helios - Representative of the Great Sun in the sky (since Esperim has two suns that rotate around each other). His teachings include the power of devotion and discipline. His followers include almost all of Illumia, a theocracy dedicated to Helios and his mother, Sarenrae.
Real-World Origin: The first Greek God of the Sun, Helios.
Odur - Representative of the Small Sun in the sky. He is the brother of Helios, and his teaching are of battle, joy in everything you do, and the bracing thrill of travel across the lands. He is also believed to be quite flighty and unreliable. His followers are often vikings and barbaric nomads who travel from place to place and take what they want without a thought to payment.
Real-World Origin: Norse Demigod of the Sun.
Sarenrae - Representative of a comet that flies through the sky of Esperim once every century. She is the mother of Helios and Odur, and her teachings are those of healing, care and motherhood. Her followers are usually priests and healers in temples and communities across Antarra.
I also have a slew of "Dark Gods," and a group of specific Dwarven Gods based on the Norse pantheon, but I'm not done with them yet. I actually have a few gods in this group that I have yet to assign names.
1 - A goddess whom represents birth, death and fate.
2 - A goddess whom represents art, beauty and love.
I'm still going to be including philosophies, but they'll be substitutes for deities, rather than the default choice for divine casters.

Hey good stuff man. It alright if I have Lancelot as my diety now? His description fits Roland really well. And real quick, does my turret pistol training add dex damage to using my pistol as a club? I thought it didn't but just wanted to double check.
you do not gain the dex damage. It may state otherwise in the document, though. I'll have to check.
And changing to Lancelot is totally cool.

Christopher Delvo |

Apply any firearm rules in the next combat, unless you've already adjusted your character sheet and whatnot.
Also, been painting some custom minis lately. So far, I have 2 done (an elf sniper and a human dark knight) and I have to say...really having fun with this whole painting thing. :)

Christopher Delvo |

Gunslinger is now in v3.1. Only thing I changed that mattered was the modification ability. It's on my blog.
Also, Cody. You stated "revolvers" in your post. Did you switch your character over to revolvers?
This campaign, until higher levels, will have early firearms available, but not advanced.
Also, you said "revolvers." I was under the impression that you had two turret pistols, but were only using one at a time.

Christopher Delvo |

KOTOR's pretty epic. KOTOR 2 not so much. I'd skip it, were I you. Currently, I only have a beginning for the SW campaign, as well as a few ideas for the "world."
World: Note that I'm essentially gutting the entire Star Wars Mythos. The galaxy is, except for the "Outer Rim" ruled by the Galactic Senate. Acting outside the law, but unchecked, are two separate and rival religious factions: The Jedi and The Sith. The people of most all worlds fear both groups. The Sith are vicious warriors, as apt to burn down a city as they are to buy a drink at the local cantina. Yet some enjoy them when they are compared to the Jedi: a highly organized order of warrior-monks who constantly send out "Inquisitors" to different worlds in search of force adepts. Those whose leanings are toward the light are abducted and forced into Jedi Academies, while those whose leanings are toward the dark are assaulted and burned at the stake. Many force adepts who fear the wrath of the Jedi will flee to the Sith for training, while others will hide themselves, either attempting to suppress their force affinity or training on their own. In general, because of the Jedi and the Sith, the force itself is feared and hated as a curse and a blight upon the people.
Story: The story begins on the small planet of Tatooine. The PCs (Player Characters) are all inhabitants of the planet (and the same city), and are likely friends. One (or more) of them is a force adept, and the Jedi Inquisition has arrived. The Inquisitors are searching the city for any who possess force sensitivity, and the PCs are attempting to avoid them. Through a series of events, the PCs are forced to flee the planet, potentially chased by the Inquisition.
I don't have much more than that.
The idea with this concept is to do away with the traditional "Good/Evil" dichotomy that Star Wars has always used, and make everything a bit more ambiguous. Instead of it being "The Jedi vs. The Sith" it becomes "The PCs vs. The Galaxy." The rampant hatred of the force will make it hard to find help, and nobody wants to piss off the Inquisition or The Sith, so if anyone learns of the PC's abilities, there's a chance that they will actively oppose the party.

Thinkin of a point buy system or we rolling you think?
I'm using my name from Kotor, Jack Star. I know it sounds lame but my guy will be loosely based on Annikan Skywalker, minus the panzee. Hotshot racer/pilot, he and his strange tin can friend, C4-77, cant help but getting into or finding trouble.

Christopher Delvo |

Not necessarily. If more people want to be force-users, then that just gives you more incentive to GTFO, and if there are none...I'm cool with someone having a brother/sister with force sensitivity. And I haven't really talked with people as far as who wants to join.
Jack Star is a fine name. This is Star Wars, man. Nobody blinks an eye at the surname "Skywalker". Why would they care about "Star"?
You plan to have a droid...will that mean you have it as an animal-companion-esque character? If so, we have to figure that out ahead of time so I can build it into the system.
It will be point-buy, as I've learned to hate rolling as of late. And as far as advanced weaponry goes, we're just going to be re-flavoring the current PF system. Laser guns will follow the rules presented in my Firearms Doc (which, by the way, there's an updated version of, along with an updated Gunslinger on My Blog--no major changes, just clarifications).
I'll talk to the guys and see who wants to get in on it. I'm pretty sure Kenny will be on board, but I don't know who else.
And I've actually compiled a few things as far as modding classes and whatnot. I'll see if I can't clean it up and send a pdf to you via e-mail.
Glad that you're excited about it. I actually just told Kenny the other day that I miss your enthusiasm in our regular games.

![]() |

Ya man I miss back home! I'm thinking of having the droid as so. I'll probably want use the force, lightsabers are fun. You know how much the point buy in will be? I lime the system too as it is more fair. I definatley need to work a visit in sometime. I would definitely appreciate an email with some more info.

Christopher Delvo |

Wait...does that mean you want to have your droid as an animal-companion thing, or as a separate character? I'm confused.
And I'll get you the extra info as soon as I can...at the moment, I still have more than half the classes to flesh out.
A few notes:
For the most part, everything will function just like normal pathfinder. Vibro-weaponry is just normal weaponry, blasters are just modern firearms with the futuristic weapons rules in my firearms doc, and lightsabers are just swords that deal energy damage. My goal is to keep everything simple so we don't have to learn a new system or anything.
