Othriburo tries to tumble past Sverix. He manages to make it. Then he tosses a bomb at Sverix. It hits 9 DMG In addition to the damage it does. There is a thick black smoke to billowing out into the room. Silvawen manages to avoid the fire, but Irabeth takes damage and catches on fire.

Silvawen decides to hold her arrow. She can't see him, and doesn't want to waste it.

Irabeth takes the round to put herself out.

The smoke is like Fog Cloud. Anything more than 5 feet away is total concealment. 5 feet away is a 20% miss chance.

Sverix steps in the direction the alchemist went and finds him not far away. Just a 5' step, I believe? Do his bombs have a 10' explosion radius? He's hurt, but he has to end this now, so instead of healing himself he says a brief prayer for strength before tearing into the foe... being more careful to aim this time instead of going for pure damage.

Both attacks hits and the enemy falls. After a few seconds the fog dissipates. You are left in a room with four dead, and a room you haven't checked to the east.

Sverix rolls around on the ground until he stops burning I think we forgot the damage from that... XD, then lays there panting for a few moments. Slowly he gets back to his feet, then gets into his carry-sack and pulls out his wand to heal himself.

Irabeth leans against a wall. breathing hard. "I am quite hurt." She breaths heavily.

She's down 30 points. If we average cure light wound potions that's six for Irabeth and two for Silvuwen.

Sverix actually has more cure moderate potions than cure light, so he'll use a couple of each for Irabeth.

Sverix hands out the potions to his companions then looks around the room (and on the bodies of the dead).

"We should definitely clean that up," the young dragon states, pointing at the mess on the altar. "And look where the alchemist came from."

One note--one of the NPC's might want to suggest retreating to rest before long. Sverix is out of fervor, low on spells, and down to potions for healing, but he's a stubborn little bronze dragon who's probably going to drag his claws about retreating because it's against his nature and he's not old/experienced enough to recognize when to suppress his instincts.

As you search the room with the cultists you notice a softly glowing door in the western wall. If detect magic is cast, it does glow with magic. You see no keyhole, but there might be another way to open the door.

Don't forget there is a mass of severed body parts sitting on the alter of Iomadae as well as defaced statues.

"We'll deal with the alchemist's room after this one.

You move to the room to the east where the alchemist came from.

A long table and six chairs have been pushed against the western wall. ON teh opposite wall, a tapestry depicting a map of Mendev hangs from a silver rod - the tapestry has been slashed several times and splashed with filth. A bedroll sits on the floor, and on the nearby table is an array of alchemical devices and a long wooden sword case wrapped with cords, as if ready for travel.

Spellcraft DC 20 on the formula Othirubo was working on:
He was trying to make a formula that causes a holy symbol steeped in it to be infected with demon plague. He's a long way from success.

Alchemist Gear on his body:
Potion of Cure Light 1, Potion of cure moderate, Potion of barkskin, potion of invisibility, potion of spider climb, +1 leather armor, dagger, ring of protection +1, portable alchemy kit, four silver holy symbols (two of Iomedate, one of Shelyn, and one of Desna)

There is a masterwork alchemy lab. There is a plain sword case sitting there as well.

If you open the case:
+1 evil outsider bane longsword. Irabeth stumbles back when she sees the sword in shock. Her skin becomes a paler green.

You do hear movement from upstairs, but no one has ventured down the stairs yet.

Sverix glances at the formula, but doesn't really care what it is. He does open up the sword case and note Irabeth's reaction.

"What's wrong?" he asks.

He'll also take the potions. He takes the ring of protection and puts it on, and he'll take the leather armor because it's valuable and he can put it in his hoard.

Irabeth picks up the sword. "That, that was my father's sword. I sold it so I could purchase a gift for my wife. I have no idea why it would be in such an evil place. This isn't the person I sold the weapon to." She notices a note below the weapon in the box.

She reads the note, and looks angry. She'll hand it over for you to read. "I'd like to wield this if you have no objections." She holds the sword aloft.

Sverix looks over the note and growls in his chest. "More secret cultists," he notes angrily. He nods at Irabeth. "I can't use it, and it's still sort-of yours anyway. Go ahead and keep it."

That done he goes back and looks at the glowing doorway behind the now-cleaned altar. He studies it for a bit, then looks back at Irabeth.

"Do you have any ideas about this?" he asks. "Maybe there's a password..."

He trails off as a thought hits him. "That prayer in the other room, maybe?"

He shifts uncomfortably. "Ummm... I think it might be better if you do it, since I'm not an Iomedae worshipper. Maybe you kneel at the altar and say that prayer?"

Irabeth takes the sword. She still looks very angry. "That my father's sword would end up in the hands of evil is a disgrace. This whole situation is a disgrace."

She kneels at the alter, and speaks the prayer. ""Let us inherit thine arms, Iomadae." The door opens with no sound whatsoever.

Don't have the contents of the room on me at the moment. I'll get you a description and list when I get home from the tire store.

The small chamber is free fo dust. A holy symbol of Iomedae hangs unmolested on the wall above a weapon rack filled with swords, crossbows, and spears. Three wooden dummies wear pristine suits of armor. A shelf holds several leather quivers, each stamped with a golden sun. Two silver shields hang from pegs on the wall.

Weapon Rack:
three cold iron longswords, two cold iron shortswords, two heavy crossbows, a composite longbow (+2 Strength), a masterwork cold iron heavy mace, two cold iron longspears, 50 clod iron crossbow bolts, 100 cold iron arrows, a +1 longsword, 5 +1 holy arrows, and an arrow of evil outsider slaying.

Armor Dummies:
two sets of masterwork chainmail and a +1 breastplate emblazoned with Iomedae's holy symbol.

Shields:
One is a masterwork shield, and the other is a +1 blinding shield.

The room is big enough to rest if you want to. Just barely.

Sverix gapes at the display. "Look at all the weapons!" he exclaims after a moment.

He trots into the little room and looks things over. After a few moments he turns back to the others and asks, "Can either of you use some of these? None of them really help me. Maybe we should bring them back for the rest of our allies to use?"

One of the NPC's might want to suggest resting here. Sverix is a bit too enthusiastic about fighting evil and inexperience with his own strengths and weaknesses to recognize that resting before continuing on might be called for right now.

Irabeth takes the +1 Blinding Shield, and leans against a wall. "We should be able to rest here if we stay quite. The demons clearly didn't find this place, and Iomadae will protect us I'm sure. We need to heal and I need to regain spells."

Silvuwen will take 50 of the cold iron arrows, and the composite longbow. "This room causes my skin to crawl, but I can stay here for the night. Sverix is that what you want to do? You have used a lot of spells today."

"Oh..." It's rather clear that this hadn't occurred to Sverixalint. "Ummm... well, I have used most of my magic for the day, but... is it really okay to rest? What if we don't have time? What if..."

He trails off and sighs. "We have to, don't we? Another battle like that last one would probably kill us without resting..."

"Yes another battle would be the end of some of us." Irabeth closes the door, and begins to remover her armor for rest. "We have done well so far, but we should be careful of getting too tired, and too low on resources. You must watch for that. If you can't help yourself, then how can you help others?"

"Right..." Sverix agrees reluctantly. "I just... it's..."

He sighs. "I guess I'm just still too young to know what's best," he mutters, and curls up on the floor. After a moment he asks, "Why are all of these weapons and things here? Why didn't the other people use them when they were trying to defend here? Did they not know about them?"

Irabeth settles herself down. "They might have not had time to get to the weapons. You are right they might not have known this room was here. Everything happened so fast. These will do some good." She settles down to sleep.

Yep work kept me late.

The next morning you wake. Refreshed if not comfortable. Listening carefully at the door you hear nothing in the room beyond.

Once you open the door, you see the bodies of your enemies removed, but do not see any living enemies. You make your way carefully past the door by the stairway. It's been propped, up but not closed well.

Looking around the rest of the first floor. All the dead enemies are gone.

"Upstairs?" Irabeth asks as you complete the search of the ground floor.

Sverix dreamed again that night, though when he woke only fragments remained. Something about a great dragon plowing through hordes of demons... Terendeleve was there, too, but she wasn't the one fighting the demons.

He shook his head slightly to clear the cobwebs from his mind as his companions stirred. The young dragon was quiet as they carefully examined the lower floor, the oddness of his barely-remembered dream nagging at him.

He nods at Irabeth's suggestion. "Yes," he says, and carefully starts making his way up the stairs, only slightly ungainly on the humanoid-sized steps.

Our Story So Far.

Our intrepid heroes cleared out the lower level of the Gray Garrison. The pleased Iomadae with cleaning out the enemies and cleaning up the defiled places of the Garrison.

After a night of rest in a hidden room our group is ready to tackle the upstairs of the garrison.

The door broken door to the upper level has been propped back up.

As soon as he sees the door back in place Sverix is suspicious. He murmurs a quiet prayer to Apsu for protection before trying to open it. Casting shield of faith

If there's no one in the room, he'll go upstairs immediately

You climb the stairs to a debris ridden hallway. As you head pops up you see two tiefling guards leaning against the wall.

The yell "Where did you come from?" and move to attack.

The first Tiefling raises his crossbow and fires at Irabeth. The second moves up and attacks Sverix.

The crossbow attack misses. He curses and reloads. The sword attack hits Sverix for a good bit of damage. 8 DMG

Silvuwen tries to shoot the tiefling with the crossbow. He's concealed by the railing. Her attack flies true, and hits him hard. The tiefling almost falls. 8 DMG

Iarabeth casts Divine Favor and waits until there's room to work.

Two doors fly open and eight more enemies. Yes, eight. Come flying into the room four additional tieflings and four cultists. "Hey what's this?" one of them cries as the move in to attack.

One of the tieflings moves up and swings at Silvuewn, the other tiefling shots the crossbow at Irabeth again. One of cultists channels negative energy at the group. DC 11 Will Save or 3 DMG

Irabeth takes the damage from the channel 3 DMG Silvwen manages to avoid most of it. 1 DMG

Silvuwen lets loose with another arrow. She hits red, and kills him.

Irabeth attacks green through the banister's railing, and connects killing green.

Sverix growls and pushes past the tiefling in front of him to stand in the hall. He inhales deeply and then exhales a cloud of frost that fills the hallway with killing cold.

Five-foot step, then using his breath weapon. It's a 30' cone so it should hit all of the enemies.

Irabeth moves up and swing her sword. Her attack just misses.

Silvuwen fires her bow at the blue tiefling through the landing slats. Her attack also misses.

That was a lot of enemies. Good job Sverix. Your breath weapon came at the right time." Irabeth wipes off her blade and puts it away.

Combat Over

The 6 tieflings have crossbows and shortswords, the cultists have 4 potions of cure light wounds, 4 scroll of cause fear, 4 scrolls of comprehend languages, 4 unholy water. 40 gold

The yellow tinted rooms to the north east and south east are where the enemies came out from, and their doors are open. The rest of the doors are closed.

"It was stupid of them to stay clumped up like that fighting a dragon," Sverix replies, in the tone of a child who can't believe how stupid adults are sometimes.

Sverix dumps out the unholy water in a corner, but takes the scrolls. He offers the healing potions to his allies, given that he has plenty himself still. He even reluctantly offers to split the gold. That done he investigates the three rooms the enemies came from, starting with the one on the north.

We got a new puppy on Friday. She's kept us busy for the last few days. I think I'm getting a schedule that will work for posting.

"Keep the gold. You will need it" Silvuwen tells him. She does take the healing potions offered.

Room to the North

Stacks of scrolls, books, maps and more sit atop a large hexagonal table in this room. The walls are painted with detailed maps of Sarkoris, over which features of the Worlddwound have been painted.

Irabeth moves to study the stacks of papers on the table. She looks up at both Sverix and Silvuwen. "We have done good today. This is a list of the Mendevian troop movements. To have this in our enemies hands would be terrible. The Eagle Watch will be relieved we recovered these." She continues to sort through the papers, "Take a look Sverix see if you can find anything else valuable here."

Sverixalint eagerly takes the gold to add to his growing hoard, then follows Irabeth into the room. He looks over things with a serious gaze.

"You're right about that," he agrees with the paladin. "Do you think we should destroy them to be safe?"

He also takes a good look around the room.

The room to he south is just barracks. This is where the Tieflings slept when off duty. Nothing of value was left here.

Sverix nods in acknowledgement of Irabeth's words.

"I'm glad we could get rid of so many of them at once," he says as he steps over the bodies in the hallway, heading for the last of the rooms on the south. "I just wish so many people weren't joining them."

Before going to an unopened door, Sverix heals himself up and offers to heal the others if needed.

Several stacked horizontal shelves hold a number of small, straw-lined bird cages. A stack of parchment three quills, a pot of ink, and a pile of tine cylindrical objects cover a nearby table while a small wooden door is in one corner of the room.

You only get a quick glance as three creatures in the room attack you!

Three giant fly like creatures that have almost human faces, and horrible not quite hands at the end of their spindly legs.

The room suddenly goes dark, and Sverix is attacked. Both attacks just miss.

Silvuwen can't see the battle and will delay until she can get a shot.

"What abominations." Irabeth cries out as she sees the creatures over Sverix's shoulder.

Can Sverix still see his enemies, or is it completely dark? He does have Blindsense if he has to fight without being able to see, but he also has Darkvision if it's not Deeper Darkness-type darkness.
