Round 7

Sverix sees a vision of an event they know will now never happen—Areelu Vorlesh using a deep purple Nahyndrian crystal the size of a human’s head to corrupt the fragment, causing the entire border to flash with nauseating mauve fire that devastates the border cities and transforms countless crusaders into half-fiend slaves of the Worldwound.

Your realize at this point that the demons’ entire plan was to draw as many crusaders to the border to defend it from their attacks, in order to maximize
the damage this event would have caused.

Round 8
The being examining Sverix suddenly disappears from his senses as Areelu Vorlesh’s projection from the Abyss via the imago lens appears as a somewhat transparent beautiful demonic woman with batlike wings, a horned brow, and glowing red eyes.

She regards the still-stunned heroswith a smoldering, furious expression, then says, “This only delays your kind’s extinction. But at least I can take steps to hasten your own.”

Irabeth bravely attempts to charge the image of the powerful witch, but Areelu waves her hand and Irabeth stops dead in her tracks, grasping at
her throat as she suddenly seems to be suffocating. The witch seems frustrated when her mass suffocation spell fails to affect Sverix and Silvuwen, and she says, “The death throes of your wardstone seem to be protecting you from my magic. No matter. They cannot protect you from my slaves!”

Dragonskull |PBP Singnup

With this, Areelu spreads wide her arms and a rift tears open in reality.

A half-dozen babaus tumble through into the room, and beyond them Sverix catchs glimpses of even greater demons preparing to enter—vrocks, glabrezus, even a marilith—when suddenly the energy infusing them pulses back outward.

You are no longer stunned.

In the same moment, the mass suffocation spell affecting Irabeth is dispelled—she drops to the ground, unconscious at 0 hit points.

As this happens, the powerful energy hits the Abyssal rift and slams it shut—Areelu screams in pain as the magical feedback tears into her body, breaking bones and shredding her wings. An instant later, her projected image vanishes—her connection to the Material Plane has been severed and she has been critically wounded, but the six babaus that managed to clamber into the Material Plane before the rift closed remain and immediately attack.

You feel a great sense of goodness and have:
• Damage reduction 10/good
• Regeneration 5 (unholy damage or evil spells)
• Resist acid 10 and fire 10
• You glow with bright light that automatically dispels any 3rd-level or lower darkness effect you enter.
• Each PC’s attacks are treated as good for the purposes of overcoming damage reduction, and deals +2d6 points of damage against creatures with the evil subtype.
• Once per round as an immediate action, a PC can roll 1d12 and add the result to any d20 roll he just made

Sverix views the scenes with awe, wondering just why he is being shown this. When the demon woman appears, he thinks he understands. The young dragon feels a brightness building within him... and also a towering wrath. How much suffering and death has this fiend caused? How many souls have been lost thanks to this Abyssal invasion?

A growl builds deep in his chest as he finds himself able to move again. It builds to a roar as the witch's image vanishes.

"BEGONE, FIEND! YOU SPEAK AS IF YOUR VICTORY WERE ASSURED, BUT YOU HAVE WAKENED THE WRATH OF THE RIGHTEOUS, AND SHALL SOON FIND THAT IT IS MORE TERRIBLE EVEN THAN THE DEPTHS OF THE ABYSS!"

He fixes his gaze on one of the demons in the room, baring his teeth. "Come, I will give you a taste of it."

The demons begin to summon other demons. Cackling at what looks like a clear win for them.

Silvuwen fires an arrow at one in a straight line with her.

I'd wondered if Silvuwen had been knocked out or not

Sverixalint narrows his eyes slightly. By all rights he should be terrified--two of these demons would have been a dangerous, near-impossible battle. But the holy wrath within him had burned away all fear, leaving only a cold, hard certainty that he would destroy these demons, and all others who sought to twist and corrupt the innocent. For while the anger had burned hot for a moment, now it was cold, focused, like the tip of a fang.

He attacks the nearest of the demons, focusing on precision over power, starting to methodically tear it apart with an almost clinical focus.

I see. :)

Sverixalint doesn't know just where the cold wrath that burns in him now came from. Perhaps it is his Lord Apsu's, channeled through him to remove these demons from Golarion. Perhaps Iomedae is using him to avenge her fallen paladins. Or perhaps it could be the wardstone itself, its power once turned to defence now exploding in fury against those who had wrecked it.

Whatever the case, Sverixalint continues his methodical destruction of the demons in the room. As soon as he finishes one, he moves on to the next.

Sverixalint turns to the demon between himself and Silvuwen. Some corner of his mind keeps insisting that what's going on is bizarre, not just the fact that the two of them are annihilating these demons without so much as a scratch, but the fact that he is facing them with this odd, serene wrath, the way he's speaking... but for the most part, he is too focused on killing the demons to think more on that.

The demon Sverix was attacking falls, and the rest of the demons attempt to flee. They have had enough and our hero wins for the moment. You have won for the moment. The Incursion has been stopped, and the demons vanquished for the moment.

Some of the power fades, but you feel much more powerful than you ever have. The world falls away before Sverix's eyes and he's suddenly standing in the most beautiful place he's ever seen. It looks like a cathedral. Standing before him is the biggest dragon that he's ever seen.

His knees tremble, and he falls before his god Apsu. "Stand young one. You have done well this day. You earned my attention with your bravery and strength in the battle to stop the demons. I wish to give you a gift. Whether it is an honor only time will tell."

He waves you closer to him. "I wish you to become my Mortal Herald. Do not accept this lightly. Know that my eyes will always be on you as my Herald."

Sverixalint is so stunned to find himself in Apsu's presence that he can't even make it back to his feet from his deep bow. Him, a herald of Apsu? How? He was just a child...

...but wait, thinking like that was doubting his god! Apsu wouldn't make a mistake, so he must... somehow, he must be worthy. Right?

Shakily Sverix stands and approaches at his lord's gesture. He bows again, then hesitantly looks up to meet the Great Dragon's gaze.

"I..." he squeaks, then entirely loses his voice for a moment. Embarrassed he looks down and tries to recover himself, then looks up again.

"My... my Lord Apsu," he starts, then pauses to swallow. "I... if..."

No. There was no if. He stops and tries again. "My Lord Apsu... I..." He pauses to edit out all the wrong words. "You know... I have dedicated my life to Your will. I will... I... I accept."

He feels like he should have said something big and grand to match the circumstances, but given how he can barely speak right now... this will have to do.

Dragonskull |PBP Singnup

Apsu looks upon the small dragon. "You have made a hard but wise choice young one. Go with my blessing, and know that my Eyes are upon you."

The god reaches out with a claw and touches Sverixalint on the shoulder marking him with his holy symbol.

As that happens Sverix finds himself back in the wardstone room. Irabeth is sitting up and looking around. "What happened? Did we do what we needed to do?"

Silvuwen is leaning against the wall exhausted. "Yes we did it the Wardstone is destroyed."

You find embedded in the walls six wardstone shards remain, embedded in the walls. These fragments only contain a small fraction of the original
wardstone’s power, but they can still be quite a boon.

Jeslyn's Gear:
scroll of dispel magic (3); +1 scythe, amulet of natural armor +1, cloak of resistance +2, keys to areas P15 and P18, 350 gp in onyx gems for animate dead, 32 gp

You finally have a chance to rest and recover. With the pulse of sacred energy along the border having slain so many demons and driven off the others, the incursion of Kenabres ends.

Welcome to Level 6, and your first Mythic Level.

Sverix draws a startled breath as he is suddenly back in the garrison. He looks around for a bit. Had he... actually left? Or had he been in his god's presence only in spirit?

It didn't matter, really. He could feel Apsu's blessing on him, and in his heart. He felt... different. Stronger. More... he couldn't quite put a claw on it.

Speaking of his claws, was it just him or did they look bigger than before? Did... *all* of him look bigger than before? I figure now's a good time for him to put on a foot or so since he'll be size Large in a couple of levels.

Shaking himself slightly, Sverixalint refocused on his companions. "Yes... we won," he affirms. "The Wardstone is destroyed."

He pauses. "I think... all of the Wardstones were destroyed. Did you feel it? Did you see all that, too?" He looks at Silvuwen, given that she had seemed affected similiarly to him by the events.

Dragonskull |PBP Singnup

"Yes I did. It was an odd thing to see the history of the stones. It was amazing that something like the stone would hold memories such as that."

She looks at Sverix. "Did you get larger, and what's that mark on your shoulder?"

Sverix can't help but try to look at his shoulder, craning his neck around at an odd angle. "I... think I did grow," he replies slowly. "I... I've been here the whole time, right?"

Without waiting for an answer he continues, "After we put the demons to flight I... well, I had a vision."

He swallows as the awe of what had just happened washes over him again. "Apsu... my god, he... he asked me to be one of his Heralds."

I'm debating just what the mark will look like... Apsu's holy symbol is kind of complicated, being 'a silver dragon with its descending tail encircling a mirror', so I'm picturing what's on Sverix's shoulder as being a very stylized depiction of that. Clearly I'll have to get an artist to draw it. :D

Dragonskull |PBP Singnup

"That's amazing. A herald in our midst." Irabeth looks stunned at Sverix's announcement. "The tattoo is very beautiful."

She gathers her things. "We so go and report our success, and rest. We deserve it." She start to walk out of the building with a limp. "Now I'm not the only one with a limp." she laughs.

Silvuwen follows out the door. "I'm heading back below. Thank you for trusting me to have your back. Good luck." She gives Sverix a pat on the wing and heads in the opposite direction of Irabeth.

The tattoo will also act as your holy symbol.

"Right... ummm..." Sverixlint verbally hesitates as he follows the others. "Maybe... don't tell everyone, okay? It's... well, it's still so new to me, and I don't know if I want to go around telling everyone just yet."

He looks around as they leave. "When the demons are driven out of the city, we should bring some people back and finish fixing everything here," he says to Irabeth.

The young Herald gives Silvuwen something like a bow, half-opening his wings as he does so. His voice shifts slightly, sounding somehow deeper and more mature as he speaks. "Farewell, Descendant of the First Crusade. I have been honored that you fought with me. Be well."

He turns to Irabeth. "Come, let us return. The battle is won, but the Last Crusade is just beginning."

Dragonskull |PBP Singnup

Irabeth and Sverix arrive back at Defender's Heart. When they enter the building a cheer goes up, as the hero enters. They crowd around as Sverixalint is given pats on the back, fist to wing bumps, and small children hugging him.

Irabeth finally clears them away, and gives an account of what happened giving Sverix plenty of time to interject with his version of events.

Sverixalint happily adds details wherever he thinks appropriate, lingering on every moment of the battles with the kind of enthusiasm only a child can muster--which is somewhat unsettling when coupled with the subject matter, at least to human tastes.

He's suddenly more serious when they reach the events around the Wardstone. He describes the visions he saw in detail, as well as the actions of the demonic sorceress. Oddly the young dragon only skims the battle afterward. To finish, he states that Apsu blessed him to continue the war ahead.

"Because this is going to be the Last Crusade," he states with total certainty. "There's no more Wardstones. We have to be the Wardstones of Golarion now--each of us who fights back against the demons. But the day is coming that we'll drive them back to the Abyss and reclaim this land for mortals!"

Dragonskull |PBP Singnup

The group nods in sad agreement about what the loss of the Wardstones. The mood of the celebration comes down a notch, but there's still a feeling of victory through out the inn.

Food and wine flow. The dancing starts not long afterward.

Sverix is approached by Aravashnial who asks, "I'm sure you found interesting things in your adventures. Not everything is going to be of use to you, and you can't keep everything you find. You can sell it to people who need it. They'll be happy to have it, and you'll get the gold for things you need."

He stands quietly for a few minutes. "Did you find aything magical that you don't need?"

"Sell...?" Sverix asks, looking over at the elf in confusion. After a moment his confusion clears. "Oh, right, that's part of the whole trade thing, right? It's... where you give someone something for money?"

He looks to Aravashnial for confirmation, then continues, "I guess I have a few things I could part with... but, umm... how do you do it? How do you know how much gold you'll get?"

Dragonskull |PBP Singnup

Aravashnial looks taken aback for a moment, and then he answers. "This may take a few minutes. Show me to a seat please."

After he's seated he starts to explain commerce to the young dragon. "You can have things appraised or you can learn to appraise things. You can also trust the person who your are dealing with to give you a fair price. It's normal to get about half of what you would pay for something new when you sell the item to someone else. Sometimes you will get more if they have a good relationship with you, and sometimes you will get less if the area is poor or there's not a lot of trade happening. Do you understand?"

"Oh," Sverix says, thoughtfully, his head cocked to one side. "Yes, I think I understand. Well, I do have a few things I guess I could get rid of... I'll have to go get them."

He comes back a little later with a bundle of items in his mouth. He sets them on the ground and then says, "Okay, I've got... some magic armor, some magic cloaks, some magic weapons, this broken phylactery thing... and some not-magic stuff, too. So I take these to the merchants here, right...?"

Dragonskull |PBP Singnup

"That's correct. Let me study the phylactery thing. That might be of interest to me." Aravashnial casts detect magic, and spellcraft on it.

Sverix lets Aravashnial examine the phylactery. I believe it was a phylactery of faithfulness

"I could probably use this magic cloak... I'll have to take it to those tailors I helped out. Oh, yeah! I left that other cloak with them. They're probably done with that one, but this one is better... but I'd feel kind of awkward asking them to work on this one right after they worked on the other one..."

He rescued the tailors from the one demon earlier on and left a cloak of resistance +1 with them to get re-fit to dragon measurements. But now he got a cloak of resistance +2...

"Hmmm... and maybe I should keep the magic armor and a magic weapon because I think I've got turning into a human form figured out. So... I should take the rest to the merchants."

Dragonskull |PBP Singnup

"Human form?" he laughs. "That will be almost cheating to have a dragon look like a human."

He studies the phylactery. "It's a Phylactery of Faithfullness you should get 500 gold for it easily. A religious person would be interested in it. Especially Paladins."

"The mundane items you can take to a store."

"As for the tailors, I'm sure they would be happy to work on your new cloak. You'll need to wear the one they were working on while they work on the new one. That's my suggestion. Do you have other questions?"

"Well, most older dragons can turn human. Most metallic dragons, at least," Sverix replies. "I wonder if maybe I should keep the Phylactery? What's it do exactly?"

Dragonskull |PBP Singnup

"You are a Warpriest yes? It might be helpful for you. As you can tell it is a tiny box containing religious scripture. The box is affixed to a leather cord and tied around the forehead, worn so that the box sits upon the wearer’s brow. It makes the wearer of a phylactery of faithfulness is aware of any action or item that could adversely affect his alignment and his standing with his deity, including magical effects. If you think about it, before you do it the box will tell you if you are in danger of upsetting your god."

He waves in the general direction of the party and calls for more food and drink.

"You did a wonderful job. I didn't expect that from such a young dragon. What do you plan to do now that this danger has been averted?"

"Okay, I'll keep it then," Sverix says, stashing it back in his bag.

At Aravashnial's question, the young dragon immediately answers, "The war's just started. Kenabres needs to be cleansed of any remaining cultists and demons, then fortified enough to withstand more attacks. Then I'll be in the war, fighting back against the demons."

Apsu's doctrine emphasizes not just killing evil and leaving, but fortifying against evil. Sverix is probably going to be bringing that up a lot.

Dragonskull |PBP Singnup

"That's a big job young one. This place has been full of demons for years." He takes a drink. "Go have some fun. Find someone to sell your extra gear to in the morning. Get some rest. You have a big job in front of you my friend."

Dragonskull |PBP Singnup

"We'll show you." they cry. Thrilled that a dragon is going to dance with them.

They lead you to the floor, and they young ones mostly dance in circles around you as you sway back and forth, and try not to step on any small ones who dart around your feet occasionally.

The party goes well into the evening, and it's finally time to rest.

Anything else you wish to do for the evening?

Nah, we can probably move ahead now.

Dragonskull |PBP Singnup

A few weeks after the destruction of the wardstone the survivors who fled the city have returned bringing the souls living there to 6,200. Severix has been spending the weeks rooting out any remaining demons, and helping the city rebuild as best it can.

He's holding up a wall while masons fortify it when the news arrives that Queen Galfrey has arrived. As her armies arrive—thousands upon thousands of road-weary and battle-worn crusaders thankful for a place to rest, even if that place has been significantly damaged.

The crusaders set about refortifying the city even as their leader seeks out those who played such a key role in its defense, and in the transformation, however temporarily, of the wardstones into a potent defense that drove the demons back into the Worldwound, if only for a short time.

It takes a day or two but Queen Galfrey has heard the rumors Sverix and his team are the ones who triggered this event, and that he become imbued with the wardstones’ power. The queen is eager to hear your story about how things developed in the Gray Garrison. She sends a liaison and asks to meet you in a private room of the Defender's Heart this evening to hear yours story and learn more about you.

Sverixalint felt good about his work.

Killing demons was, of course, the best, but there was something satisfying about helping people build, knowing he was aiding them in defending themselves. In a way, he was undoing the demons' work--as they tore down and corrupted, he instead built up and purified.

Always he was conscious of his new calling. He put all of his effort into being the best he could, striving to not just build walls, but people. He felt his youth keenly, but tried anyways to speak words and do actions that helped people become better. And at the end of every day he retired to the place he'd been given to stay exhausted but happy, feeling he was slowly starting to grow into his position as a Herald of Apsu.

Maybe someday he'd have to start telling people that was what he was. But for now, just making clear that he was doing Apsu's work seemed like enough for him.

He was a bit surprised at the queen's summons. As a dragon, he was no subject of any humanoid sovereign, though he was of course ready and eager to work with Queen Galfrey in driving the demons in her land back to the Abyss. And so he trotted over to the place appointed to meet her with a spring in his step, looking forward to the battles ahead.

Dragonskull |PBP Singnup

You are ushered into the finest private meeting room that Defender's Hearth has to offer. Sitting at the head of the table is Queen Galfrey. She waves for you to enter, and after all the bowing is over she asks you to have a seat and tell her the story in your words of how you destroyed the Wardstone, and freed the city.

There are several other armored crusaders in the room. All listen intently as you speak.

Sverixalint remembered that you were supposed to talk special to kings and queens, but he wasn't quite sure what that consisted of. So he settled for a deep nod and saying (in his best deep dragon voice), "Greetings, Queen Galfrey. I am Sverixalint, a warrior of Apsu."

At her request, he launched into his tale, briefly covering their mission (he figured she'd been told the why of what they did), then going into much more detail on their assault on the Gray Garrison, covering the battles in enthusiastic detail, right through the last one.

He slowed down as he reached the aftermath of the battle, describing the demonic figure who'd appeared before them in great detail, as well as his visions of the Wardstone's history. Of his experience with Apsu, he said only, "After this, Apsu appeared to me, calling me to serve Him here. After that, we defeated the few demons that had come through the portal and then returned here."

Dragonskull |PBP Singnup

The Queen listens to your tale carefully. She nods every so often as if what you are saying is confirming what she has heard. Once you are finished she begins to speak,

“While there are some narrow-minded souls among the crusade who blame you for the destruction of the wardstone border, I do not begrudge you for what you did. Far from it. From the sound of it, you saved entire legions of crusaders from a most vile fate by preventing Vorlesh from transforming them, and the blast of energy gave us the time we needed to regroup and prepare for what will certainly come next. But you understand the implications of what you’ve done, I’m sure—the wardstones are gone, but Iomedae has seen fit that you will be their replacement. I can think of no other reason that would explain why their power would have settled in your bodies and souls and didn’t merely fade into the ether."

"In time, the demons will regroup and reorganize—we can trust their inherent chaos to make this period of regrouping longer than it otherwise would take, but we shouldn’t underestimate them. They’ll be back soon enough. Already I’ve had reports from along the front lines that small groups of demons are attacking fortifications and settlements along the southern border. But what intrigues me most is news from several reliable sources that as our fiendish enemies are starting to mass in the southern reaches along the Riftshadow within the Worldwound, they have left several of their northern lairs relatively unprotected." She pauses to let that statement sink in.

"In particular, the fiend Aponavicius has taken the bulk of her army from Drezen, leaving it only moderately protected as she joins with the Storm King in Iz to, no doubt, plot greater attacks on larger targets like Nerosyan, Karcau, and beyond. The time is right to strike into their territory. Drezen was the first of our cities to fall after the First Crusade, and we lost more than our kin and our pride that day. We lost the Sword of Valor, a magical banner carried by the Inheritor herself during the Shining Crusade. If Drezen could be retaken—if the Sword of Valor could once again be held by the crusade... well, I trust I don’t need to explain how well that would affect morale. But with the imminent attacks along the border, I cannot spare many to lead an assault on Drezen. And even if I could, a large army attacking the city would only draw Aponavicius back to defend the place. The obvious tactic is to send in a group of capable heroes with a modest but well-trained army to strike now, while the proverbial iron is hot. And this is why I’ve sought you out. If you can retake Drezen and reclaim the Sword of Valor, not only will you silence the fools who would brand you traitors for destroying the wardstone, but more importantly, you would bolster the entire war effort with your heroism. And I fear we need all the bolstering we can get!" She waits to see what Sverix has to say about her request.

Sverixalint droops slightly at the mention of those who view the destruction of the wardstones as an act of treason, but he perks up at the Queen's request.

"A chace to strike back at the demons?" he asks, eagerly. "I'm a bronze dragon, and a warrior of Apsu! I hatched to fight evil!"

Dragonskull |PBP Singnup

She nods as if that's exactly what she expected to hear. "That's what I wanted to hear. I encourage you to set off as soon as possible—every day spent waiting is one more day for the demons to catch wind of the plans and to reinforce the city."

"I have time for a few questions before you make ready to leave. What would you like to ask?"

Male Bronze Dragon DrEx 7/Wpr 7 | HP 86/86 | AC:18+2 T:10+2 Fl:16+2 | CMB: +11 CMD: 21 | F +10 R +7 W +11 SR 10| Init +0 | Perc: +16 Sense Motive +16 | Blindsense 30' Darkvision 60'

Sverix thinks for a moment. "I do have a few questions," he concludes. "Who will be coming with me? What do we know about what waits for us in Drezen? What does the Sword of Valor look like? Ummm... and how will we be supplied? I don't think there's much to eat on the other side of where the Wardstones used to be, right?"

Dragonskull |PBP Singnup

“Despite the name, it’s not a sword. It’s a battle standard—an artifact once used by Iomedae herself during the Shining Crusade. The church loaned the banner to the First Mendevian Crusade and allowed it to hang in Drezen, where it bolstered crusader morale and, perhaps more importantly, warded against demonic attacks, deceptions, and even teleportation.”

“You will find the Sword somewhere inside Citadel Drezen. At one point, it was held in a special vault, but our divinations have only revealed that the banner remains in the Citadel somewhere. Alas, the same wards that protect it against demons also hamper divination attempts—but we know it’s still in there, likely kept as a trophy.”

“Citadel Drezen was built during the First Mendevian Crusade as a strategic foothold inside the Worldwound. Dwarves chiseled it from of a rocky hill near the source of the Sellen River. It held for well over a decade, withstanding almost constant war before a traitor turned the Sword of Valor over to the demons. We never found out who it was, but with the Sword of Valor’s protection gone, the demons overwhelmed Drezen in a night.”

“We’re sending three specialists with you. Aron Kir was a cleric of Shelyn here in Kenabres before the temple was destroyed—he can help with healing as needed, but he’s also quite knowledgeable about demons and their tactics."

Sosiel Vaenic is an expert on siege tactics, traps, infiltration, scouting, and the like; he’s where you’ll be getting your map of the Citadel, incidentally. And lastly, there’s Nurah Dendiwhar. She’ll be supporting you with her bardic magic, but she’s also an expert on the region and knows more about Drezen than anyone in Kenabres at this point, I’ll wager."

"I’m also going to be sending an army of crusaders with you. There’s only a hundred of them, but they’re all devout paladins of Iomedae. It’s not a large army, but you’ll be able to move without attracting attention. Trust me, that’s an advantage when it comes to demonic foes. They hit hard, so it’s best not to give them the opportunity. They will take care of the food for you.

Sverixalint listens intently to the answers he's given. "Okay... I think the only question left is when I'll meet these people, then."

Dragonskull |PBP Singnup

"Before we meet your army and experts. We have one more piece of business." She smiles and stands. Looking around the room she indicates Sverixalint. "I dub thee “Knights of the Fifth Crusade.” She presents you with Righteous Medal of Valor.
This medal looks like a demonic skull, the top of which has been pierced by four red-hilted swords.

It is awarded to a hero who delivers a death blow to a demon whose CR is at least 1 higher than the hero’s character level. This medal is associated with Strength and grants a +2 sacred bonus to CMD.

Because you are young and aren't familiar with human titles, you don't realize the title also gives you permission to lead armies and rule lands.

Info on the Medals:
Of a more immediate note, though, when a knight accomplishes a significant task, he or she is rewarded with one or more righteous medals. Currently, there are six different medals a knight can earn in the crusades, each of which comes with a small boon of magic imbued by priests of Iomedae, Sarenrae, and Torag.

These ornate military medals are awarded to crusaders and adventurers who excel and deserve commendation in the war against the Worldwound. A medal must be affixed to a worn article of clothing to function, but doesn’t have to be worn visibly. Any number of righteous medals can be worn, but the effects of multiple medals of a single type don’t stack. A righteous medal functions only if the wearer has legitimately achieved the feat for which she received the medal. As a swift action, the wearer
can gain a +2 sacred bonus to the medal’s associated ability score for 1 minute. In addition, each righteous medal grants a constant sacred bonus on one type of roll, as detailed below.
