Male Phantom Fort +1, Ref +1, Will +0

"I keep thinking of what I can hunt when I get up here," Wolf says with a scary grin. He notices the town, but before his impatience takes him there he takes a look at the valley below them, and if he sees any sign of a river or a lake anywhere.
perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18

Female Dhampir Fort +4, Ref +4, Will +2

Lamb puts the box down. "Would you need a rest before we head on, little Jester?"

From where the group stands the town looks to be about the size for 200 people or so.

Copper Dragon (2) HP30 AC14 F6/R4/W4 Perc+8 Init+1 Fly+6

"No. My tummy hurts more than my back. Will we get water soon?" Jester asks as he rolls back on his feet.

Female Dhampir Fort +4, Ref +4, Will +2

Lamb looks at the town. "I hope we do." she muses. She hasn't hummed or sang for a while now. With some effort, she picks up the box again and starts walking towards the town."I'm sure there's someone there who can give us some water."

Male Phantom Fort +1, Ref +1, Will +0

Wolf sets off at a loping stride, but still doesn't trust the enviroment. He stays on his guard.

From a way's away they can see laundry blowing on washing lines. They can see carts and sun bleached awnings outside buildings along the streets. The houses are made of packed earth, with white walls, and flat roofs. Many are two stories tall and some are even 3. They are tightly packed from what can be seen.

The plain towards to village is flat and full of tall grass, with the path winding it's way. Walking down the path the grass brushes Wolf's and Jester's flanks and reaches to Lamb's waist.

At one point during their walk they disturb a ground bird that had made a nest just to the side of the path. It gave them quite a shock as it flew out of the grass a few feet in front of them.

Perception/Survival dc 5:
The path up here looks the same as the path down below, very unused

As they walk closer to the town something seems off. Jester can sense it in Lamb. As he doesn't know what a town should be like, he can't tell what the problem is.

Wisdom Check dc 12 LAMB or WOLF only:
It is too quiet. There are absolutely no sounds of life from within the town at all.

Female Dhampir Fort +4, Ref +4, Will +2

Lamb startles at the bird, and it causes her to look around a bit more.
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
"Hmm, how strange. It doesn't seem like people've been down this path in a while. Perhaps they fear something?"

Male Phantom Fort +1, Ref +1, Will +0

Wisdom: 1d20 ⇒ 12 Wolf's ears twitch in the silence after the bird's flapping goes out of earshot.
"It's not right. There's no sounds of prey around. Nothing moves in the city."

Copper Dragon (2) HP30 AC14 F6/R4/W4 Perc+8 Init+1 Fly+6

Survival: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Meh

"So cities are full of prey?" Jester asks curiously as he didn't expect prey to build houses.

Female Dhampir Fort +4, Ref +4, Will +2

"All things are Wolf's to take, little Jester. But it doesn't seem like there are any here." Lamb replies to Jester's question.

Male Phantom Fort +1, Ref +1, Will +0

"... Or they are hiding in ambush, to try and hunt us."Wolf replies. He lowers himself in between the grass and starts to make a stealthier approach towards the town. "Be careful," he growls before starting to move ahead of the pack.
Stealth: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

Copper Dragon (2) HP30 AC14 F6/R4/W4 Perc+8 Init+1 Fly+6

Jester ducks too and sneaks after Wolf. After a few moments he says "That's totally uncomfortable. And I don't see anything. How will this help?"

Male Phantom Fort +1, Ref +1, Will +0

"Smell if you smell anything. And this way you can get to the edge of the town without being seen, and from there you can take sneak peeks out of the grass" Wolf growls

Copper Dragon (2) HP30 AC14 F6/R4/W4 Perc+8 Init+1 Fly+6

Jester sticks his head out of the grass and intensely tries to smell something. "Achoo! I smell nothing." he tells looking around if he missed something he should have smelled.

Can we have some rain? I want to make a wet dog smell joke ;)

Male Phantom Fort +1, Ref +1, Will +0

"Sneaking doesn't work if you keep making noise, Little Dragon."

Copper Dragon (2) HP30 AC14 F6/R4/W4 Perc+8 Init+1 Fly+6

"Oh, sorry." Jester replies and ducks to follow Wolf sneakily.

Stealth: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
being small pays when sneaking :)

As they reach the edge of the tall grass on the border of the town very little changes. The edge of town is as unkempt as the path that lead here. They can see into the main square now and can see a well standing in the middle. There are also some noises now. A window banging in the breeze, a door squeaking on it's hinges.

They can also see distinct buildings now, rather than simply blobs of construction. There are around 50 houses in the village by quick count.

Copper Dragon (2) HP30 AC14 F6/R4/W4 Perc+8 Init+1 Fly+6

As they reach the edge of the tall grass Jester sticks his head out and sniffs if there is something. Also he looks around.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

Above is what you see when you stick your head out

You do not smell anything unusual or new

Copper Dragon (2) HP30 AC14 F6/R4/W4 Perc+8 Init+1 Fly+6

Jester looks at Wolf what he does. And at lamb. And back. And he bites his tongue not to ask what's next.

Female Dhampir Fort +4, Ref +4, Will +2

Lamb has been moving along the path, but at a slower pace, so that Wolf and Jester are ahead.

Male Phantom Fort +1, Ref +1, Will +0

Wolf also tries to smell, hear and see anything unusual from the edge of the grass.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

As he doesn't hear or see anything unusual, other than the eerie quiet, he moves out of the grass and next to the first building. He checks for any open windows he can look through

Wolf finds a window on the side of the building overlooking what seems to be a dining room. He can see plates with bones and knives on them, and mugs standing on the table.

Copper Dragon (2) HP30 AC14 F6/R4/W4 Perc+8 Init+1 Fly+6

Jester follows Wolf. But he is to small to look inside the window. "What do you see Wolf?"

Male Phantom Fort +1, Ref +1, Will +0

Wolf sniffs, trying to pick up any scent of food and drink. If it had been recently prepared, he should be able to smell that. Should anyy food or drink be spoiled, he might smell that too. He doesn't answer Jester yet.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23

Copper Dragon (2) HP30 AC14 F6/R4/W4 Perc+8 Init+1 Fly+6

Jester gets bored as Wolf ignores him. He walks around to see if there is a way in.

There is no smell. There was food and drink once, but there is no trace of it left now.

Jester does indeed find a way in. There is a door that stands ajar opening onto a hallway from which the other rooms open off of

Copper Dragon (2) HP30 AC14 F6/R4/W4 Perc+8 Init+1 Fly+6

Jester opens the door, walks in and looks around. Especially for water and food.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20

There is no water and food inside. There are some bones from the previous meal on the table in the dining room, there is no meat on them at all though.
There is a common room on the ground floor with a few bedrooms on the top floor. There are clothes in wardrobes in the bedrooms, and the beds are all unmade. The common room has a few wooden lounge suits and a coffee table.

Copper Dragon (2) HP30 AC14 F6/R4/W4 Perc+8 Init+1 Fly+6

Jester walks to the window where Wolf wits outside stands on his hind feet and looks out waving at Wolf. "Hello Wolf."

Male Phantom Fort +1, Ref +1, Will +0

"Hello dragon. this place seems empty. Abandoned in a hurry some time ago"

Copper Dragon (2) HP30 AC14 F6/R4/W4 Perc+8 Init+1 Fly+6

"This is stupid. Why build such houses and then abandon them?" Jester asks.

Female Dhampir Fort +4, Ref +4, Will +2

"That is the question," lamb says as she walks up. In the meantime, let's see if there's anything of use here. mostly water.
She walks on to the well to see if it's still in use

Copper Dragon (2) HP30 AC14 F6/R4/W4 Perc+8 Init+1 Fly+6

Jester walks along.

There is still water in the well, and the bucket and rope are all still attached.

Looking into any of the other houses the same scene is repeated

Female Dhampir Fort +4, Ref +4, Will +2

Lamb collects a mug and two large pans from one of the houses and begins hauling up water, dropping it in the pans for Jester and Wolf, and in a jug for herself

Copper Dragon (2) HP30 AC14 F6/R4/W4 Perc+8 Init+1 Fly+6

"Cool! Water!" Jester calls out excitedly before he sticks his head into it.

Male Phantom Fort +1, Ref +1, Will +0

Wolf smells the water to see if it smells off or fresh
perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20

The water is nice and fresh

Male Phantom Fort +1, Ref +1, Will +0

Wolf drinks to his heart's content, and asks for seconds after his pan is near empty.

Female Dhampir Fort +4, Ref +4, Will +2

Lamb happily oblidges Wolf and enjoys watching Jester enjoy his drink. "I think this is a safe spot, little Jester. We can stay here for a while if we want."

Copper Dragon (2) HP30 AC14 F6/R4/W4 Perc+8 Init+1 Fly+6

"Forever?" Jester asks exitedly.

Female Dhampir Fort +4, Ref +4, Will +2

Lamb cocks her head and regards Jester for a while. After some time, she says "Perhaps. We'll have to see"

Male Phantom Fort +1, Ref +1, Will +0

"That'll get boring," Wolf remarks, before skulking off to investigate the village a bit further. Maybe he can see some signs of battle, disease, or at least some reason why the village seems to have been left in a hurry. Or perhaps something to chase. That would be fun.

Copper Dragon (2) HP30 AC14 F6/R4/W4 Perc+8 Init+1 Fly+6

Jester runs off with Wolf trying to beat him to find something interesting. And to do that he goes in a rather reckless way storming into houses jumping over walls and doing anything that would lead to him find something first.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

Looking in the buildings reveals that things were laid out as if someone had merely stepped out for a moment and planned to return immediately: remains of food in a cooking-pot still hung over the ashes of a long-dead fire, a half-woven tapestry in a loom, a dull knife on a workbench next to a whetstone. Everything seems to be exactly where things were left.

As they move further into town a church can be seen, standing tall in the square.
The sound of the door moving on rusty hinges groans through the street as they approach. It stands slightly ajar and bangs closed in the wind.

Copper Dragon (2) HP30 AC14 F6/R4/W4 Perc+8 Init+1 Fly+6

Jester wonders how long everyone is gone.
survival: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
To guess from the state of the things like food

"What is this large building." Jester asks Lamb as they approach the town square.

Female Dhampir Fort +4, Ref +4, Will +2

Lamb however hasn't followed Jester on his mad dash through town - she walks through town as well, but with a different purpose in mind: To seek a building to shelter them the coming night: preferably one with few entrances, so they can more easily guard it. She generally moves in the same direction as Wolf and Jester though, humming as she goes.

Male Phantom Fort +1, Ref +1, Will +0

Wolf answers in Lamb's stead: "Who cares? Why would you be interested in their burrows?"
