Mythaniel Barronion |
"Some of the script I can read but not the foul Drow language, I'd need to use a spell for that. Handler, do you read Drow?"
Myth reads aloud the Abyssal script. Feel free to open those spoilers.
Knowledge Religion Take 10 - 28 "The pendant is an Unholy Symbol of Nulgreth , orcish god of bloodlust and war".
Perception 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12
Myth then casts detect magic on all of the items found.
Chandi |
"Some of the script I can read but not the foul Drow language, I'd need to use a spell for that. Handler, do you read Drow?"
"Not in this life, Mr. Barronion," Chandi replies absently, scooping the last of the gold into the haversack.
Eddin Costayne |
Eddin unsheathes his big knife and begins to pry the gem-inlaid tusks from the dead orc's mouth.
"Ohhh, boy, you all should be grateful that I took on this solemn duty right here. From what I've heard these orc duders have germs, real bad germs. Diseases that'll make you sick."
Pulling the tusks free of the orc's jaw, he rolls them around in his hand, then slips them into his magic murder bag, all the while attempting to wipe his knife clean on the clothes of whoever isn't paying attention.
"It's a tough job, but somebody's got to do it."
Geygar 'Ash' Yates |
Ok thats interesting. (From what little I know of languages anyway) :)
Geygar gives Eddin a flat look.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Were we supposed to laugh at the PAINFULLY obvious ones too?" The elf rolls his eyes.
"I mean come on, what do you EVER get when you cross anything with a knife? A dead something. And if your REALLY skilled, a fillet."
Dungeon Monkey |
Mareth grunts at Chandi and turns to Myth nodding at the armor.
Perception 1d20+5
The armor is appropriately sized for Mareth
Mythaniel reaches out with a word to the orc corpse
TheArmor And haversack both glow
What about the other bodies and junk that fell out of the web?
Kanir Faine |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
"What do you get when you cross a clown with a butcher knife? Wait for it..."
Eddin snaps his fingers.
"A dead clown. Come on, guys, you gotta be quick."
”Quicker than the clown, at any rate,” Kanir mutters. He starts examining the other bodies that fell out of the webs.
Chandi |
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
"When we are done with the bodies, it seems there's another secret cache beyond this room. We should explore it. A shortcut to our goal would be quite handy." Chandi waves to the "wall" where the smoke disappeared.
Geygar 'Ash' Yates |
Geygar looks where Chandi indicates, and nods.
"Awright Blue. A shortcut would be nice. I'll check it out." Ash says with his customary smirk.
Stealth: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (12) + 19 = 31

Per total(s): Basic= 19, To avoid surprise= 22, To find traps= 24, to find traps on floor in 10'= 29
Geygar moves silently towards the 'wall', fading into the shadows,...
Geygar 'Ash' Yates |
Geygar exits as silently as he entered. (I hope!)
And makes his way back to the others.
"Sorry Pal, no gem-encrusted spikes. Just a sobbing, dark-skinned, white-haired woman. Serious waterworks." Ash shakes his head.
"Women. Kill their favorite pet and they go ALL to pieces. I mean, I'm just guessing. She didn't look like a prisoner,..." Ash shrugs.
"There were more of those cubby-hole burial spots in the room. And webs. If you want to check it out."
Ash seem entirely ambivalent about the strange woman crying in there. Considering his usual penchant for making sure everyone knows his opinion. On everything.

"OK, bud, you do you," replies Eddin, appearing somewhat distracted. Probably just the voices in his head again.

Chandi |
"What? A sobbing woman?" Chandi squints skeptically at Ash, then brushes past him into the hidden alcove to see for herself.
Seeing that the elf was (amazingly) telling the truth, she stands over the huddled woman and nudges her with a toe. "Who are you, and what are you doing here?" she asks in Common, then tries Celestial and Samsaran if she receives no answer.

"Hey, what's-your-name, I think she can't hear you. Kick her again. That usually works."
Eddin watches the scene with interest, arms crossed, and sporting his usual s~+&-eating grin.

Eddin watches the scene with interest, arms crossed, and sporting his usual s!!@-eating grin.
"Or poking her" Ash adds, also watching with feigned interest from the doorway.
He looks at the long knife he is gesturing with in his hands with a look of surprise, and puts it away with a sheepish smirk. In reality, Ash is tense and ready to spring into action at the slightest hint of violence from the sobbing woman.
Of course his first intention is to spring AWAY from said sobbing woman. He trusts anyone found down here about as much as he would trust an invitation to 'help yourself' from a bank vault,...
Chandi |
"I am Chandi, though I doubt you now know much more now than you did before. The pertinent questions are yours to answer, and your safety depends on those answers. Who are you? Do you know safe paths through this place? Do you know the location of Maerimydra? Will you guide us there?" She offers the woman a hand to help her up off the cold stone floor.
Dungeon Monkey |
The woman takes Chandi’s hand. Chandi pulls her up and the woman stops crying and suddenly smiles wickedly, revealing sharp fangs. A flood of webbing flows off her hand and engulfs Chandi, bonding her tightly
I’ll need either a Dc 20 Escape artist or a DC 26 strength check to escape the webbing Chandi. Otherwise you won’t be able to move
Chandi |
Can I use a swift action, or just make a vanilla check?
Edit: Eh, let's just do this.
Esc artist: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Wouldn'ta mattered.
"Kill her," Chandi says calmly, though rather muffledly, through the webbing that envelopes her.
Eddin Costayne |
"Indeed, none of us saw that coming at all... what's next? Pulling thorns out of hell hound paws?"
"Ohhh boy, yeah, totally didn't see that one coming. But I guess sometimes you gotta make it look like the other guy started the fight. I get it. I really do."
Man... that's what I get for procrastinating. Looks like no pre-combat Death Attack this time...
Eddin Costayne |
Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
As he has been making snide comments and rubbernecking, Eddin has spent the last few minutes inching his way along the side of the room. When the sobbing woman finally reveals her true nature, Eddin laughs out loud, snapping his fingers.
He turns to the others standing a couple of yards away, jabbing over one shoulder with his thumb.
"As that one guy said that one time, hold my beer and... yeah, you probably know the rest."
On his next action:
5-foot step to prime flanking position
Sneak attack (concealed dagger): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16
Sneak attack (concealed dagger): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Geygar 'Ash' Yates |
Init: 20 + 8 = 28
Geygar, during his own snarky comments, and Eddin's endless tirade, also slid to the side of the room, opposite of Eddin and his mouth.
Whether this was simply to distance himself from the beefy mouthy maniac, or to take advantage of his natural inclination for attacking from both sides, we may never know.
"Kill her," Chandi says calmly, though rather muffledly, through the webbing that envelopes her.
Ash grins his smarmy, self-satisfied and oh-so-irritating smirk. His large one.
"Finally. Something we can ALL agree on!" Ash says cheerfully, his rapier appearing in his hand as if by magic.
With that, the elf lunges in with a dramatic flair, and a spoken spell, his rapier sparks with electricity as it searches for a home, preferably IN the strange, fanged, web-spitting woman.
So, Ash was 'shadowing' Chandi, he would start just behind and to the side of her, but withing striking distance, (Half move and attack? Or is that only doable with a 5' step? I forget)
Attack; move in, cast Quickened Shocking Grasp, through Conductive Rapier,
RApier Attack: 20 + 14 = 34
Dmg (Rapier+Shocking Grasp) 1d6 + 7 + 5d6 ⇒ (2) + 7 + (4, 2, 3, 1, 3) = 22
Kanir Faine |
Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Kanir looks on with interest as they first discover the sobbing woman. Alone, and surrounded by spiderwebs, he feels a certain kinship with her lot.
Of course, once Chandi says to kill the woman, he leaps at the chance. He had stayed somewhat close to the illusionary wall they passed through.
Kill her.
”Now you’re speaking my language.”
