Aasimar Paladin 4

LMAO

With the DM's blessing, I'm going to rejigger Eudocia into a bard 2/swashbuckler 2 to better fit the way I'd like to play her. Her AC will still suck, but hopefully Opportune Parry & Riposte will help with that; that and a big old holy paladin providing a more tempting target next to her. ;)

Will post when I have the rebuild done.

Minor Crab-beast

Indeed, blessing has been given.

I am now back in Malaysia, but tired enough that the spice will flow tomorrow at the earliest. Holiday was very fine indeed.

Female Human (Taldan) Bard (archaeologist) 2 / Swashbuckler (inspired blade) 2

Okay, I believe I have Eudocia updated. A +1 rapier would definitely be on her wishlist now, which leaves our trade for the ranseur of the gargoyle up in the air.

Male Human

Isn't the Weapon Finesse feat redundant due to Inspired Finesse?

Minor Crab-beast

Yep - but Joana didn't want to straight swap it out. She'll be retraining it during the next period of downtime.

How about a +1 cold iron rapier?

As a trade for the ranseur, you mean? It's true that a d6+1 isn't going to make a dent in DR/cold iron. That puts us back to a +1 weapon that no one seems to want, though.

F. Castor wrote:

Yes, but Eudocia has definitely been using it with her whip, as well as her rapier before retconning in her first swashbuckler level. Once I train it out, she'll be a lot worse with a whip. Then again, I have a bard in another game who uses a whip and virtually never succeeds in tripping anyone with it because she's always attacking from behind an ally and misses due to soft cover. Combat Expertise or Great Fortitude will almost certainly be more useful.

EDIT: A reminder that if we do the trade on the ranseur, each PC will only get 309.375 gp each. If we remove Gregori and Eudocia from the split on the grounds they both get an expensive weapon, that's 618.75 gp each for Harrol and Theodric. Can they do the shopping they need on that kind of a budget?

My purchases totaled 590 gp, so I'm fine with that.

DM VoV, is it too late/too cheesy for me to switch to the exploiter wizard archetype?

Minor Crab-beast

I'm open to rejigging to the Exploiter - which exploits were you interested in?

Probably quick study for now and the counterspelling one next level. Maybe magical tinkering? I'd have to look at them again.

Aasimar Paladin 4

Hey everyone, will be camping with the family until Tuesday and may be totally of the grid. Bot me as needed.

How large is this basement? How far, for example, is the bottom of the stairs from the altar?

Minor Crab-beast

The room is roughly 20ft x 30ft - and you're in one corner, the altar in the other. The evil aura is in the pile of debris near the altar.

Totally forgot about Charmed Life I should have added to that save. It's the learn-by-playing approach to a new class ... if she survives my mistakes.

Aasimar Paladin 4

And visually Gregori just went Super-Saiyan lol

Minor Crab-beast

Tiring weekend with a feverish kid (though hopefully he's on the mend now) - updates when I can.

Aasimar Paladin 4

Take all the time you need.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Every time I have to write "Eudocia retches all over herself like a 17-year-old at a frat party," my enthusiasm for the character dies a little bit more. :P

Minor Crab-beast

The dread lurgy that beset our eldest hath now passed onto our youngest and my wife - hence my brain is empty of the fortitude required to post in cogent thought tonight.

I'm going to be traveling for a week with my family starting tomorrow. I should have internet access in the evenings, but my online time will be limited until I return next Monday.

Male Human

I will be away from my computer for the next three to four days. I will strive to post, but no promises. Please DMPC my character as needed.

Minor Crab-beast

The death lurgy that I thought I'd dodged came home to roost... hopefully tomorrow my head will feel like it belongs to the rest of my body...

Minor Crab-beast

Wee man had a cold tonight so I was on nurse duty.

Aasimar Paladin 4

Awww

Minor Crab-beast

Had a dinner party at our place today and am shattered after cooking, cleaning and kid wrangling.

Tomorrow is a public holiday for me in KL as well, so update will be on the eve.

Aasimar Paladin 4

Ok. Glad you had a good albeit busy day.

Loot list updated on Eudocia's profile.

Does anyone other than Eudocia have a bow to carry some arrows? Wand of magic missile to Theodric, I'm assuming. Should Eudocia carry the daylight wand? Most of us can use it, but it should probably go to someone who doesn't have a better use for actions in combat than activating a wand when we get darknessed.

M Human Commoner/1, Expert/1

Sounds good to me, Eudocia. I can't put much of this gear to use so I'm happy to distribute it how the party sees fit. As I'm sitting on a little stash of restoration potions already, did the party want ot take these four?

Aasimar Paladin 4

I can't use any spell completion items at all

Oh, does your archetype give up spell-casting? You're the one we need focusing on combat anyway, not fumbling for wands, and you've got your halo.

Might give the front-liners a lesser restoration each, just in case. In most cases, they'll probably be used between encounters rather than in combat, but it wouldn't hurt to have some more easily accessible in case of emergency.

Everyone should probably take a cure serious and give the extras to Gregori and Joneth.

That leaves the chime. Oh, and the rod.

Aasimar Paladin 4

Yeah I give up spellcasting and all spell completion for the scaling effects of the Holy light.

So I get a CSW potion and another wand of magic missiles? Sounds good. If no one else takes it, I'll take the rod of cancellation. Is there a command word or something? I don't want it to destroy my arcane bond ring. ;-)

Ok, just looked it up--do we have a tightly sealed case to keep this in?

Minor Crab-beast

Scroll case would do the trick?

Two to three feet long and five pounds? Is that a rod in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?

Then again, if that's supposed to be a scroll case....

Aasimar Paladin 4

Well considering there's an archetype that uses scrolls like hanbo, it sounds about the right length to hold the rod.

Do we actually know anything about Kandro Nyserian? I did a search in-thread and only picked up Nyserian Manor, which was a) razed in the initial assault, and b) one of the Baphomet cultists' safe houses, so he might deserve what he got.

Minor Crab-beast

Correct - you'd be able to tie him to Nyserian Manor, which was one of the named safehouses. Outside of that Kandro was one of the less prominent nobles of the city.

Also, re the vermleks, I don't suppose Eudocia's 24 reveals if there's any special way to kill them other than keep beating on the host body until it stops moving?

Minor Crab-beast

You'd know IC the standard Demon resistances: DR 5/cold iron or good; Immune electricity, poison; Resist acid 10, cold 10, fire 10; SR 14; and that they're able to be harmed by positive energy.

Joneth Revane wrote:
So, does Joneth get one potion of lesser restoration and how many potions of cure serious wounds, one or two?

All right, I have the following items undistributed:

potion of cure moderate wounds
potion of invisibility (x2)
alchemist's fire (x2)
tanglefoot bag
antitoxin
potion of cure serious wounds (x8)
potion of lesser restoration (x4)
chime of opening
wand of daylight (24 charges)

That's one csw for everyone, with three left over. A second each to Gregori and Joneth, and one left over. Joneth's AC is slightly worse than Gregori's so let's assume he's more likely to get hit and give the extra to him. Eudocia only has 22 hp total, so we'll give her the cmw.

One lesser restoration for everyone but Harrol.

Eudocia will hold the wand of daylight for now.

Chime of opening, anyone? Theodric?

Antitoxin to Harrol? Alchemist's fire and tanglefoot bag need to go to someone with a good ranged attack.

And 2 potions of invisibility: We don't really have anyone stealthy anymore, do we? Joneth and Eudocia seem to have the best Stealth modifiers.

That leaves us with:

potion of cure moderate wounds Eudocia
potion of invisibility (x2) Eudocia, Joneth
alchemist's fire (x2) ??
tanglefoot bag ??
antitoxin Harrol
potion of cure serious wounds (x8) Eudocia, Harrol, Theodric, Gregori x2, Joneth x3
potion of lesser restoration (x4) Eudocia, Theodric, Gregori, Joneth
chime of opening Theodric
wand of daylight (24 charges) Eudocia

If there are no objections, please update your character sheets.

Male Human

Yes, ma'am. :-P

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Feel free to disagree, if you prefer a different distribution. This is a benevolent dictatorship. The dungeon is sparsely populated, and we hardly ever use thumbscrews. :)

Male Human

Nah, it all seems fine to me. Besides, I have always viewed such things, meanings potions mostly and other single use items additionally, as more or less communal, i.e. regardless of who gets them to begin with, they may end up in someone else's hands -or mouths- if circumstances demand it.

True: It's mostly a matter of trying to get them in the hands of the people most likely to need them in a pinch. It's easier for someone to pull out a potion and drink it when needed than for someone else to have to get it out, move adjacent, and give it to them.

Outside of combat, of course, there's rarely an action economy issue. Hopefully we won't have to use the chime of opening or rod of cancellation in the middle of a combat encounter.

Aasimar Paladin 4

Lol works for me. Updated.

Male Halfling Cleric /4 | Init +4 Per +4 | AC 19/15/15 | HP 18/35 | F +6/R + 5/ W +7 | CMB +3 CMD 17 | magic stone point-blank +11 (1d6+3; 20ft) | Channel 2d6 (1/5), Touch of Glory [+6] (5/5), Adaptable Luck (1/3) ||| Spells Remaining: 2nd - bulls strength, silence, bless weapon | 1st - bless, liberating command, shield of faith (x2 D) | create water, light, stabilize | SLA - protection from evil (1/1)l |

Perhaps Eudocia could take the alchemical items? Harrol can use them as well, but I think I helped myself to the last batch of Alchemists Fire.

Which leaves me with the cure potion and the antitoxin. Adding to my profile.

Male Human

Real life sidetracked me a bit. Will be able to put up a post tomorrow

Aasimar Paladin 4

For some reason the game thread stopped updating for me.

Well, you're up now! :)

(If someone makes a post and then deletes it, it can sometimes cause a thread to stop getting the (x new) tag, depending on the timing of when someone last looked at it. If you didn't accidentally click on the "stop following" x (easy to do, especially on a phone or tablet), that's probably what happened. Once you've opened the thread again, it should automatically go back to updating for you.)
