Arkhos is awe struck for a few moments, he knew what they came here to retrieve but never suspected it would be like this. Then it showers upon to find how are they to retrieve it and if they are able to wake it up.

"We must find a way to take it back either dormant or activate it somehow."

As Arkhos begins to work on the console in the hopes of finding a way that they can transport the container or reanimate it back into service long enough to transport it back.

Tech Use 50 1d100 ⇒ 33

If this recruitment is still looking for Battlebrothers, I will make a character and post either tonight or tomorrow! Very excited. His name will be Brother Thaddeous, but other than that I do not what chapter or anything.

A short investigation shows that the Dreadnought currently has no sarcophagus. Without a pilot it will be unable to move on it's own. However you also recall that the Watch Captain said something about having prepared for this.

Welcome, make sure to check the Campaign Info tab for information regarding the character creation rules.

Ulrich is speechless for a few moments when faced by the majesty of the Contemptor and the honors it's ancient battles have won. When he gathers himself, he turns to Arkhos, "Brother-Commander Arkhos, perhaps we should report to the Watch-Captain that we have secured the Contemptor. Perhaps he can facilitate our rendezvous with the Ancient who will be given the honor of this mighty war machine; remember that he instructed that the chassis in which the Ancient is currently housed will be left here"

Arkhos attempts to communicate with the Watch-Captain in a secure line "We have acquire what was requested Captain"

Brother Librarian Thaddeus reporting as ordered.

Application:

Hello, my name is Taylor I have tons of roleplaying experience over the years, but I am fairly new to pbp. I am very hopeful to get picked for this awesome sounding game tho!

Brother Librarian Thaddeus, is a Librarian from the Blood Ravens a chapter who is very know for its powerful Librarians and their thirst for knowledge and technology. Blood Ravens

Thaddeus was not a psyker until he passed the trials of the Blood Ravens, by facing his own fears via Psy induced dreams, after he received the Blood Raven gene seed he started rapidly developing his powers.
When Thaddeus was chosen to server in Deathwatch he knew it was the god emperors wish for him to use the Deathwatch as a tool to find more Knowledge and hidden technology hidden throughout the galaxy.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Brother Arkhos:

+++Excellent work Brother Arkhos. I have also just received word that the Tech-Marine and his team are almost to the facility. From here you will need to see if you can either bring the Contemptor to the surface or look for a means for them to bring Brother Faust inside.+++

Watch-Captain

Spoiler:
There is no way to move it Captain, it has no sarcophagus inside it, so we will have to go fetch Brother Faust or guide him to our location by following our vitals or signal

While Arkhos speaks with the Watch Captain, Ulrich does a quick patrol around the large container, then stands guard near the front of it, watching for any possible threats. Though I do not expect to find any; that skitarii was rather formidable.

Brother Hammern:

You find a small bed roll and a shrine to the Omnissiah that have been set up a few meters away from the container. It looks as if the Skitarii had been here a while.

Ulrich pauses to take a closer look at the sparse belongings of the Skitarii, then heads back over to the fallen creature for a closer look and to make sure it is still out of comission.

As far as you can tell he is dead.

Awareness +0:

Upon closer inspection you find that the Skitarii's arm mounted Storm Bolter has been loaded with Kraken bolts which likely explains the potency of the otherwise mortal-sized weapon. You know from your own expertise that such rounds are typically only given out in anticipation of heavily armored opponents.

Brother Vartas

Spoiler:
"Brother Vartas, I will meet you at the elevator in this location" as Arkhos sends coordinates to the battle brother for him find them "Make haste, time is of the essence".

Awareness: 1d100 ⇒ 47.

Though unaware of the rounds loaded in the storm bolter, Ulrich is intrigued by the powerful weapon and tries to find a way to remove it, "Brother Arkhos, this creature has a storm bolter which may be removable. Shall we claim it for the Watch, or leave it here for this thing's masters."

Claim it as a trophy, he is a Skitarii an elite soldier of the Mechanicus. Besides it will not hurt to have extra ammo and weapon on the side brother." as Arkhos pauses for a moment and seems to be speaking with someone else through his comms I will depart towards the elevator brother, so I can bring help to accomplish this objective."

I will ensure that none disturbs this mighty relic."

What kind of roll would be necessary to remove the storm bolter from the Skitarii?

Tech-Use to dismount it. However, keep in mind that it is a Storm Bolter sized for a normal human and thus would require modification before you could use it.

That's why I thought of it as a trophy XD it's to small for our overly manly muscular fingers lol

Tech-use is restricted to trained only. I will have to ask another to remove it.

After a brief inspection of the weapon and its mounting, Ulrich speaks to Arkhos again, "I know not the method of removing this from the Skitarii's arm, and I do not want to risk damaging the weapon by simply taking the arm with it. Will you look into it if there is time?"

reaching the bottom of the freight elivator Invictus open a vox channel to the battle brothers he knows to be down here +++Brothers this is Techmarine Invictus, Brother Faust and I have arived via the freight elivator and detect you are close by, is the route clear to you or should we expect hostiles?+++

should the rout be clear (i think it is) Faust and i should make a quick pace to their location, is there equipment with the Contemptor to do the chassis switch or will we need to locate a set of tools to do so?

"Your route should be as clear as it can get, worst case you might find yourself with some servitors, but nothing more brother. I await you at the entrance to the elevator." as Arkhos waits impatiently to escort them.

There is a makeshift workshop next to it and more than likely enough tools or rudimentary ones to get the job done I suppose.

the freight elevator creaks and wines a bit more than Invictus believes it should, the elevator likely doesn't see the weight of an ironclad dreadnought on a regular basis and needs some upkeep. His training with the mechanicum nags at him to look into the devices repair and ensure that it will work properly in the long run but he knows now is not the time, there is work to be done and he knows while Brother Vartas can handle the kill team above the more help that can be provided to wipe the rebel scum off this rock the better.

the elevator reaches the floor of their destination and comes to a halt with what sounds like a little difficulty and the doors open. chainsword at the ready Invictus watches them slide up and out of the way and as he sees the armor of his brother marine he smiles and lowers his weapon. "greetings brother, its good to see the emperors holdings here are secure you and our other brother with you seem to have done fine work" Invictus extends a hand in greeting for a quick handshake as showing a brother that you respect and value them is paramount to trusting each other on the battlefields ahead, so says the codex.

Arkhos answers the greeting hand of Invictus but not much else "Let us make haste, for I do not know how long we can go unnoticed anymore." as Arkhos strides back to the objective "I can assist you if needed, for my skills pale in comparison to yours in the matters of your expertise"

Now that you have a change to get a look at the machine shop you do in fact see that it has all of the necessary tools for you to perform the transfer. However, since you have no servitors or serfs to assist you it will take some time to observe the proper rites and procedures.

It will take you at least 15 rounds to perform the ritual. You may reduce this by one round for each DoS you get on a Tech-Use roll. Another character with Tech-Use may assist you, further reducing the number of rounds by 1 for each of their own DoS.

Awareness -10:

In the distance your hyper-sensitive hearing picks up the sound of the elevators machinery once again coming to life.

Invictus immediately begins preparing the tools for the task at hand speaking to his brothers as he does so "If either of you have skills in the technical fields i could use all the assistance you can provide, normally this task is attended by several servitors to happen in a short time, i clearly lack these resources so if you can follow my guidance step up and lets complete our task lest we be interupted"

as my gear i brought a data slate loaded with anything i thought might be neccicary for my mission, would this have anything to help with the work of moving the sarcophagus? if not for me at least for arkhos perhaps

perception: 1d100 ⇒ 45 failure there
Already racing his mind to the task at hand Invictus is oblivious to the outside world for the most part
tech-use: 1d100 ⇒ 13 thats 4 degrees of success so cuts off 4 rounds, also is there an MIU plug in here? that would add 10 to this check if so
Invictus easily calls to mind the rites and procedures need to move the sarcophagus to the new chassis, his hands moving through the motions at great speed and accuracy

Remember, you have Auto-senses in your Helmet, they give a bonus of +10-15, depending on the mark. Additionally, you have heightened senses (Sight and Sound) which is an additional +10 for Percep. That should put you at success. The helmet does other cool things, assuming you are wearing it, like dark sight, photo-visor, called shot @half action (-10), etc. Check it out, add that to your profile. Also the strenght bonus and agility bonus of armor, don't forget to add those.

There is no MUI jack available given the haphazard nature of this machine shop. Your dataslate does contain a simplified version of the rites if Brother Arkhos wanted to follow them. However, he would still lack the expertise of an actual tech-marine.

you are correct, seems i would have +20 on that awareness roll, i have to say this game kinda scatters a lot of the relevant information all over the place in the core book, but in either case thanks for the tip :)

Invictus taking notice of the backround sound does not interrupt his work but speaks to the 3 brothers near him "Faust while we do this work you will be out of commission temporarily my apologies brother but i will work quickly, I hear the elevator has once again activated and to my knowledge we are not expecting anyone else, Arkhos i leave the choice to you weather to help me here or investigate with your companion what may be coming down the elevator, Faust and i will be quite exposed should we be interrupted if it can be seen to that that does not happen all the better"

Awareness 45+10+10-10=65: 1d100 ⇒ 61.

When Faust and Invictus arrive with Arkhos, Ulrich salutes them with respect, then resumes his watchful posture having no skill to contribute to the transfer of Faust's sarcophagus. At the sound of the elevator machinery, Ulrichs bolter rises to a more ready position.

Brother Techmarine Invictus wrote:

Ulrich begins to move to the elevator, "I will investigate. If any try to interrupt the rites, they will find the will of the Emperor opposing them. Be swift Brothers, the Emperor protects." As he moves swiftly away, he takes a frag grenade into his other hand.

When he arrives near the elevator, he positions himself where he would have a good view of the area around the doors, and some cover for himself and begins to evaluate how an enemy might attack from the elevator.

Codex: Assault Doctrine (40): 1d100 ⇒ 27.

"I will accompany you brother, we do not know what is coming down to meet with the emperor's finest" as Arkhos smiles for the thrill of battle and bringing death to those that defy the Emperor's will.

"Make good use of the time, we will hold them off" as Arkhos keeps walking and speaks through the comms to Brother Invictus "Keep me updated"

As brother Arkhos wields his power axe and a Frag grenade in his other hand.

Are you guys gonna hide at all?

As you approach the elevator your sharp hearing can clearly pick up voices having a conversation beyond the doors:

"Why's we going down dere?"

"Cause Jones told us to."

"Why?"

"Probably because Ray and his boys have been gone for like an hour."

"Why?"

"Dunno, that's why we're going down there I guess."

"...I still don't get it."

I- look, just shut up alright. We're almost there."

Well, Ulrich has taken cover. Not exactly hiding, but also not standing out in the open.

Arkhos will ready to let loose a volley of bolter fire to whatever walks out of that elevator

Assuming that the voices are talking about the dead rebels that were found down here, Ulrich readies his grenade to throw.

Knowing his brothers can hold off a few rebles Invicutes does not let worry enter his mind. But Invictus is well aware that even the best laid plans can go astray so he keeps his weapons close at hand.

Ulrich your cover grants you an additional 4 AP

With a final *thrum* the elevator comes to rest. The doors grind open and while you where hoping to see the shocked faces of your enemies you instead only find the menacing barrel of a lasgun.

Most noticeable is the huge man wearing heavy looking armor and carrying a massive shield and axe. Flanking him are two normal humans, both with lasguns at the ready.

Though it looks as if they weren't expecting you they are not caught completely unprepared.

I'll let you guys have initiative on this first round, though it is not a surprise round.

Im assuming the machine shop im in is completely out of line of sight to the engagment correct?

Correct

Arkhos moves to cover to the other side and letting a volley of Kraken rounds fly towards the lasgun traitor. "We must kills the lasgun wielder, the shield carrying one we can deal with it with Kraken rounds or a couple of grenades to save time"

Initiative 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

Standard Attack
BS 50 1d100 ⇒ 48
Damage 2d10 + 9 ⇒ (6, 1) + 9 = 16X Pen 8

What lame damage roll...

No one really uses it, but in the rules, you are allowed to switch your DOS (assuming its higher) with one of your damage rolls. This isn't the "proven" quality which is a static number, this changes depending on your DOS.

Hey there! I've got an idea for a Battle brother that I'd like to join in with, an Apothecary Sergeant from my chapter the Void Wyrms. I'll get details here soon, but I hope you're all still accepting new players! Start out with 1000 exp, right? Or are we going with the 9000 of the rest of the group?

New characters begin play with 1000 xp and additional character creation information is available in the campaign info. Please PM me your submission when you're ready.

I had 1 DoS and barely so I'll keep that roll, let's keep this fight going.

Round 1

The rebels all shout in shock as Brother Arkhos immediately opens fire once the doors open. His target tries to dive out of the way while the other two go to return the favor.

2d10 ⇒ (7, 3) = 10
Shield Rebel (10): The massive figure brings the hulking slab of metal he calls a shield to bare and starts moving out of the elevator towards the two marines, keeping his head down as he does so.
Brother Arkhos (8): Mercilessly opens fire on one of the rebels as soon as he is able. Some of the shots are deflected by the shield as it blocks a portion of the doorway with its size.
Lasgun Rebels (6): 1d100 ⇒ 18 The first rebel that Brother Arkhos tried to kill hits the deck just in time as deadly bolts scream just over his head. He crawls forward a bit and then gets back to one knee where he and the other man start to return the space marines fire. 2d100 ⇒ (92, 56) = 148 "Dammit Kruhl!" one of the men is shouting, both of their shots had gone wide. "I can't aim properly with that damned shield in the way!"

As the passengers of the elevator come into view, and Ulrich can identify that they are, indeed, rebels, he thumbs the activation stud on the frag grenade he is holding and lobs it into the group.

Throw Grenade (50+10=60): 1d100 ⇒ 72.

Well, I am not near my computer with my books, so I am not sure if I am missing a bonus, and if not, I do not have the missed grenade throw rules.
Also, sorry for the delay, I had a busy and eventful weekend.

Arkhos switches to Kraken rounds and shoots a full burst of fire hoping to drop the man with the shield.

BS 70 1d100 ⇒ 87
FP re-roll 1d100 ⇒ 13
2 FP left

Damage 2d10 + 9 ⇒ (6, 4) + 9 = 19

Extra Hits
Damage 2d10 + 9 ⇒ (5, 7) + 9 = 21
Damage 2d10 + 9 ⇒ (4, 7) + 9 = 20
Damage 2d10 + 9 ⇒ (2, 2) + 9 = 13
Damage 2d10 + 9 ⇒ (6, 1) + 9 = 16

Round 2

1d8 ⇒ 4
Brother Hammerns grenade bounces off of the rebel shield and rolls off to the right, the explosion tearing a massive hole in the wall but proving otherwise ineffective.

Shield Rebel (10): 2d100 ⇒ (97, 47) = 144 The man tries to heave his huge mass out of the way but to no avail. He is forced to cower behind his shield which ends up being the only thing that saves his life. The bolter rounds peel off of the angled metal leaving gruesome tears in their wake but otherwise missing their mark. In retaliation the rebel belows and charges at Brother Arkhos 1d100 ⇒ 27 delivering a solid blow to the marine with his axe for 1d10 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17 damage.
Brother Arkhos (8): Fired a blast of bolter rounds at the hulking rebel but is denied the kill thanks to the mans shield.
Lasgun Rebels (6): With their friend currently dealing with Brother Arkhos, the other two rebels fire their lasguns at Brother Hammern 2d100 ⇒ (82, 26) = 108 but only two shots hit, dealing 2d10 + 6 ⇒ (2, 1) + 6 = 9 damage.
Brother Hammern (?):

Sorry. Initiative: 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14.

Did you only roll one damage, or did they both do the same amount of damage?

Dodge: 1d100 ⇒ 78. (can you dodge more than one?)

Ulrich relies on Akhos to keep there rebel scum busy, and levels his bolter at the lasgun wielders, loosing a full auto burst of the Emperor's righteous fury upon them.

Full Auto Burst 50+10+20=80: 1d100 ⇒ 75 = 1 hit.
Damage: 2d10 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (4, 2) + 5 + 2 = 13.

Deep violet eyes glanced between small bottles of variously colored fluids, noting the amount in each and the small numerals written at the base of each, denoting dates made, potencies, and basic names written in a swirling script. Selecting one of the bottles containing an antiseptic and preservative, the Astartes pulled off the cap, swabbed a port attached to the narthecium on his forearm, and screwed the bottle into place before covering it with an armored cover. The armor that covered the man had been repainted in the colors of the Deathwatch, the beetle-blue-black replaced with black, silver, and white. In truth he was not really comfortable yet with the coloration, but traditions were to be respected, and a group's solidarity was a weapon in its own right, no need to make it dull...

Turning around and leaving the Apothecarion Brother Ikwa Sumantra, former member of the Void Wyrms Chapter now Brother of the Deathwatch, made his way down the Tower's halls, looking for the Watch Captain to report in...
