Brother Apothecary Eremiel
Eremiel finishes his health check on the team and turns to Brother Leon. He tap his chest twice with a fist and moves over to the rapidly cooling remains of the horde.

Brother Apothecary Eremiel is surprised and grateful that none of the battle brothers sustained any wounds. (will grant bonus to renown at end of mission).
Brother Apothecary Eremiel
Eremiel rises from the corpses strewn about the kill zone. He looks over the edge of the plateau and cups his chin in his gloved hand, considering the implications.
Brother Gaius, you should see this...the rate of purification is significantly higher than as to be expected...

Brother Lutha Hallan
After the well-being of his brothers is assured Lutha joins Eremiel and Gaius at the cliff.
"If I may be so bold commander: we should send an element of marines down to the colony whilst the rest retrieve the sarcophagus. We may be able to better ascertain the origins of this heresy and possibly locate any survivors. I also believe that if Brother Leon were able to get the communications array functioning again our vox strength would be such that those in the colony would be able to provide forewarning of any further mutant attacks."
"Though the decision should be made quickly, slipping in undetected would likely be easiest now when the creatures are disorganized and in retreat. My personal recommendation would be for Brother Eremiel as well as Brother Tellemachus or myself to make the trek, as the others have skills that would be better put to use here at the temple."

I recall hearing stories about the Worm that Walks. "Slaugth" I believe they were called. These seem to be the same.
Brother Tellemachus
Thats what I meant. That since my comrades have tended to their duties, and ive been resting since the end of the combat. Which im guessing 15-30 mins in narrative time. Meaning ive been resting for 15-30 mins narrative time. Would it be possible to try to attempt the psyscience test again on the mutants ?
Elder Brother Gazerich
You truly are blessed by the Omnissiah brother. What was this business you wanted to speak with us about? I will give you a +5 to your fellowship as a circumstance bonus due to your impressive technical abilities.
Brother Tellemachus
Tellemachus after a brief rest attempts again to reach into the remains of the mutuals trying to extract any information from their maggot ridden bodies

Are you kidding me? this is ridiculous. I should not be failing this badly on EVERY roll. I blame paizo.
Brother Apothecary Eremiel
I am reminded that xenos are quite active in the Calixis Sector. Brother Gaius, your Chapter is based there as well correct? Perhaps your Chapter records would have additional information.
Brother Eremiel turns away at this last and walks back to the rest of the team.
Brother Tellemachus
Tellemachus stands up, slightly irritated by the abundance of questions yet nothing but damning silence from his efforts. He walks over to his squadmates Eremiel, Lutha, and Gaius who seem to be discussing a plan
"Hello, brothers I have returned. Are you well?
What are our plans to take the sarcophagi from the tomb?"
GM Larkin
Thedius too returns to his the squad, reflecting on how clean his chainsword is after the battle.
"Brother Eremiel" he calls the Apothecary to where he knows he cannot be heard by the Iron Hands Dreadnoughts "Perhaps it would be advantageous for you to analyse a sample of the Iron Hands blood, considering the warp contagion is so prevalent here"
Brother Valerio León
You truly are blessed by the Omnissiah brother. What was this business you wanted to speak with us about?
Valerio removes his helmet in order to speak to the Iron Hands. He makes the sign of Aquila and bows deeply as he removes the documents from where he had stowed them.
"Great Brothers, it is my honor to ask you to join us on the Pious Immolation and join to the Deathwatch."
He holds the documents up so the Dreadnaughts my see for themselves.
"These documents are from Iron Father Vorsk himself, as well as from Scintilla; once on board you will of course be present with full honors, including Imperial Laurels."
He smiles warmly, hoping the Dreadnoughts are as excited by the proposition as he was.
Brother Valerio León
"Do not worry, my Brothers are currently discussing a course of action that will result in the recovery of the Sarcophagus, which will then be transported onto the Pious Immolation as well. The Unknown Hero is another of our interests on this planet, the foremost being you and yours of course."
Valerio shoots a glance towards his companions, hoping that they really were discussing such topics.
Brother Gaius
At the mention of the Slaugth Gaius obviously gets tense and you can tell when he speaks that he bears a great disdain for them based on the bile that fills his voice as he speaks one word then turns away and motions for you to follow as he walks back toward the dreadnoughts."Vigil..."
Once he is back with the Techmarine and the dreadnoughts and everyone has gathered he then speaks again."I have only faced lesser members of their warrior constructs them myself, but the accursed vermin killed my mentor from when I was a Scout on Vigil. I personally had just been sent back to being a member of a Tactical Squad after a time training Neophytes and was sent with a small party to provide reinforcements against a small Dark Eldar Raiding Party on another planet. When we arrived to reinforce the Force on Vigil they had already won against the main force and were clearing out the remnants."He then sighs."We will continue the mission then once that is done we will decide what to do with the Watch Captain. Once our honourable brothers are fully restored we need that communications array up. When that is done we will retrieve the Sarcophagus. Perhaps once we establish contact with the Captain we can request him to contact my Brothers and we can learn more."
Why is it I knew I should have chosen Purger of Vigil for my Deed...
Brother Lutha Hallan
Having been largely disregarded by the commander Lutha felt a slight twinge of insult. Brother Gaius' indecisiveness regarding the mutants would cost them time, and the longer they remained at the shrine the greater danger they were in.
With a shake of his head he pushed the thoughts away, orders were given and he would follow. Solemnly the Lamenter reloads his weapon and returns to his defensive position overlooking the plateau.
Clip: 28/28
Brother Gaius
Sorry I actually missed your post... Maybe chalk it up to him being focused on the Slaugth.
He stops then with a realization looks over to Lutha his helmets steely gaze fixed on him."We shouldn't split our forces. Especially if those... Things are here. Is there even anyone in the Settlement? My understanding was the world was vacant do to the toxin..."It is then you can tell he is forcing himself to focus on the mission."Perhaps later we can return and slaughter them. We might even could get my chapter involved in their destruction. I don't even think the Emperor knows how much we want them eradicated."
Nimon
|
Brother Gaius
So something like this:
Gaius begins telling what he knows and suspects over his vox to his team and the Dreadnoughts."I do not believe this to be a Chaos or Warp occurrence. If it is Slaugth it is likely they have experimented and infected most of these people with Parasites. Basically turning them into drones to do labor and fill out their ranks as disposible troops. There are likely no humans on this planet and the atmospheric changes are likely a result of the same process they attempted on Vigil to make it more to their liking."He stops his voice becoming grim and filled with anger and malice."Basically. They want this planet and are trying to take it. We might be looking at a second Vigil."He then sighs and regains his composure."Brother Leon it might be best to get the Array up and running as a priority so that we may contact the Captain. Maybe he can contact my chapter and get some of the Veterans who fought on Vigil to aid us. As much as I loathe to say it our Honorable brethren might need to wait for the minor repairs and only receive the absolute necessary ones. At least until we are back on the Pious Immolation."
Brother Valerio León
Valerio listens to Brother Commander before nodding his head. He starts to mutter his prayers as he reverently places the helmet back on his head.
He turns to the Dreadnoughts, "It has been my honor to be in service to you both my Brothers. I apologize for my abrupt departure, but my orders stand. Worry not of your charge, The Unknown Hero, his Sarcophogas shall be in good hands soon enough."
He bows, making the Sign of Aquila a last time, and departs for the Communications Array, taking out his combi-tool in order to begin his work. Once there he plugs his Electro-graph into a data port in order to get a better understanding of the great machine as he works.
Tech-Use(70): 1d100 ⇒ 30
4 successes correct?
Also my understanding is that I had finished, or was finishing the repairs before this? I could just be wrong
Brother Tellemachus
Tellemachus quietly listens to the discussion.
"I agree that we should make the array our priority should these...creatures..infestation become worse than we expected. However I must speak my mind, splitting our number to cover more ground and complete objectives quicker would allow us to complete the mission quicker. Toxicity levels are climbing still I imagine"Tellemachus casts an inquisitive look at Eremiel"Therefore the sooner we get the sarcophagi onboard the less time we allow the toxicity time to get stronger and pose more of a threat"
Brother Gaius
Gaius stops and thinks over Tellemachus's counsel then lets out a sigh."Venerable Brothers might I ask you to watch over Brother Leon as he repairs the Communications Array alongside Brother Lutha while the rest of us advance to retrieve the Sarcophagus?"He then looks to Leon."Brother if you can patch us in to the communications array that way we can know what the Captain says as well."He then looks to the shrine."Though he might prefer us to simply fortify this position until reinforcements arrive. Especially given that the Shrine is supposed to be sealed against the atmosphere."
Elder Brother Gazerich
Very well Brother The Dreadnoughts take defensive positions on the plateau while Brother Leon completes the repairs to the relay. Before you were working on the Dreadnoughts was my understanding.Brother Leon gets the relay up and running. You hear the Watch Captain asking for a sit-rep.
When you get to the Shrine the Cherubim flies forward and begins to sing a hymn of the Emperor. An underground path is revealed. with a door at the bottom of a small set of stairs. Shall I open the door now Master Astartes? The Cherubim's voice is that of a strange robotic child.
Brother Gaius
Given the time frame Leon could have gotten them done just depends on whether they needed a new engine, new transmission, or just a quick tire rotation & oil change.
When the Watch Captain responds Gaius halts the Cherubim."Not yet."He then gives a quick sit-rep in a tone that is filled with Malice."Slaugth. We believe they are trying to colonize this planet. Requesting order status following this revelation and that contact be established with the Storm Wardens for aid in combating this threat. I fear we may be looking at a Second Vigil. This toxin might be their habitization process that acclimatizes the planet more to their physiology."
EDIT: Just a quick note on the character's recent orders. He is basically fighting his urge to say "screw the mission" to go on a genocidal rampage or to follow orders and complete the mission. Basically fighting both of his demeanors so that the mission will be complete in the hopes that it can, in the near future, allow said genocidal rampage.
Watch Captain Enoch
Understood. I will confer with the rest of the Cabal. For now get our venerable brothers prepared for retrieval. Stormravens enroot to your location for their extraction. Once they are secured continue with securing the Sarcophagus. I will update you once we have it secured.
No more tech use is needed at this time.
Brother Gaius
Gaius visibly is relieved."As you command captain."Once comms are broken off he turns to the rest of the team."We move into the Tomb once our honourable brothers have been extracted by the Stormravens. I hope the shrine is still sealed when we delve deeper. His way we will have our full capabilities available."He turns to the Dreadnoughts."May we meet again as War Brothers of the Deathwatch."
Brother Thedius
I hope Eremiel has seen my post
"Brother Gaius" Thedius turns to the squad leader "For your consideration I have two suggestions as to how I can be useful.
"Firstly, given my holy jump-pack and the nature of my speciality, I make a functional scout as well as an assault specialist. I can probe for the enemy strong-hold and the source of this toxisity and withdraw quickly if I run into trouble.
"Secondly I could use my chainsword to free the thunderhawk of ice, thus speeding our escape once we have the sarcophagus
"What are your orders Brother?"
Brother Apothecary Eremiel
I've seen it.
Brother Gazerich, one final check, if you please. We must ensure that there are no contaminants present when you board the inbound lighter.

The Ice seems to fade from the Thunderhawk once the mutants with the glowing red eyes died.
Two Stormravens arrive and servitors help load the ancient brothers on board.
Brother Gaius
Gaius looks to the Thunderhawk."Seems the ice is a non-issue. The stronghold is most likely underground where worms typically lair. I'm afraid the best you might do is learn the location of one of the many openings it might have and we might need your close quarters training inside the tomb."Gaius finally remembers to stop and reload his bolters used clip of normal ammo then walks to the Cherub and waits for his team to join him."Once you are ready brothers we will delve into the tomb."He then chuckles at the thought of the old stories of his home world where Space Marines were Heroes who went into Dungeons and tombs to slay evil sorcerers and daemons.

Brief summary of where we are
The Dreadnoughts have agreed to join and have been lifted off in Stormravens. The Thunderhawk and pilot remain on the plateau for your extraction. The Cherubim awaits orders to open the chamber. Brother Thedius is watching overwatch on the door.
Brother Gaius
Yes though maybe have it augmented to where you are more of a sniping position.
Brother Tellemachus
Can I use the cartograph to find an alternate(s) entrance to the tomb possibly?
If I can here is a test for it
Navigation:Int 35+3+10=48: 1d100 ⇒ 47
I can't believe i'd say it, but its a success
Tellemachus pulls out the cartograph and studies its data briefly before the team enters

Just to clarify, most rolls are not a straight up roll. A lot of times this is true in combat, but for most skills it depends on what you are doing. Skill test difficulties range from +60 to -60. I will say that there is no plausible alternative entrance based on what you have seen of this place so far.
Brother Gaius
If it ain't him it seems to be me, eh? At least this time you posted in the right thread.
Cimbria Arctus
I am ready, Brothers
