Star Wars The Galactic Unification (Inactive)

Game Master Shanosuke

Rebel soldiers have defeated the Empire but the danger of its swift return looms and the galaxy is unprepared to fight it off. Can our heroes unify the galaxy against the return of the empire or has all the work the rebellion has done been for

The battle of Endor ended in victory for the Rebel Alliance. It was however, very costly and the Alliance has been struggling to recover. Since the Alliance has been unable to move as quickly as needed since the battle. Many worlds have seceded from both factions to form their own independent groups. Some of these groups are in the form of a single world government, other more communal worlds such as those from the Correllian Sector have formed their own governments. The dream of restoring a Galactic republic is slipping away.

Things have to change, the Alliance has limited fighting power and though many worlds have already ousted the now weekend Empire, they have no interest in a Republic. In the meantime the Empire still exists, though with no clear leader, as soon as one emerges, The division of the worlds will be their downfall. The Alliance must unite the galaxy against the threat of a rebuilt empire. Mon Mothma has determined that diplomacy is the key but Akbar has seen the violent uprisings and determined that conflict of arms will be inevitable in the majority of their attempts. Thus the militarized unity force was established. The rebel alliance formed five small scale fleets to travel from world to world to try and “Force” Diplomacy. The Alliance would start by bringing an armada, such as they are, and discuss unification with the leaders of various worlds. If this went sour, the fleet and military would take over.

This method did not please many of the peace loving leaders of the Alliance but they see no other choice. Mon Mothma says that forcing a republic on people is a crude method, however, with the danger of the galaxy been pulled into another empire, which is worse?

The Rebel Alliance’s decision to carry out the “Speak Softy and Carry a Big Stick” –Teddy Roosevelt, Approach had begun.

You either new recruits or small time freedom fighters in the Alliance. You now have a chance to make a name for yourselves in the galaxy by bringing the Republic back and dejecting the empire forever. You have been hand picked by General Gam Fahordan to serve as a special task force. You are the best of the recruits. Gam is a famous Rebel general who is known both for his successful campaign but his results at all costs persona. He places high expectations on people and hates failure more that collateral. Do what you have to do to get the job done. He has helped win several battles but has infamy in the alliance.

You are assigned to the flagship Home One, commanded by Admiral Akbar. You will be a special ground team that will be dropped independently on planet side a week before the ambassador’s arrival. You are sleeper agents who will go into action should things turn ugly with diplomacy. You will scout out week points in planetary defenses, fortresses, military stability and numbers. If and when Conflict begins, you will jump into action, moving on the information you have obtained to ensure Alliance victory over the ruling government. You are the backup plan.

The game starts with player introduction.
There are currently three of your squad on a shuttle enroute to Home One. This is the first time you have met. It was recommended in your memos that you get to know one another.

This is where you roleplay a bit. I will allow a little time for you to chat with one another get to know each other, and work out what skills you will bring to the table so you can be efficient. You don’t want to let General Fahordan down. I will post the next leg when all three groups are ready to move on. (After they’ve been able to get to know one another.)

A lengthy young man sits with his right ankle draped over his left knee looking eagerly at both of his new companions in turn. He narrows his eyes as he focuses on the seemingly more adapted soldier stationed across the aisle. "You look a little old to be a new recruit there friend, he tells him as a smile creeps over his fresh face. "I'm guessing you're the seasoned vet whose going to show us all the ropes?"

The boy scratches the back of his head and shifts his legs, putting both feet on the ground. "I'll admit, this is the first time I've been on an official Alliance starship. Up to this point its been whatever crumby old machines myself and a bunch of kids could patch together with the bits and pieces we stole from Empire machinery. It's comforting to be flying in something that may still be under warranty, haha." He pauses briefly to asses his two partners. "The General said we should try to get to know each other a little; I mean, we're going to be working together for a while so it makes sense. I'm Finn, I'll likely be your navigator and electronics tech."

Jarl sits in his seat looking a bit nervous for someone who has clearly been around the block. His armor vest seems to fit uncomfortably around his average sized frame. The ghost of a smile on his face is counter to his body language.

"Finn right? Jarl says extending his hand and chuckling. "You got me there I am seasoned all right. Been around basically since the beginning of the movement. Since Hoth I have been serving on the Admiral's flagship. I got it real bad from the Imperials on that engagement, in fact I probably shouldn't even be alive".

Jarl pauses for a moment reaches into a pouch at his belt and places some wet looking black leaves into his mouth. "Not sure showing you the ropes is the right word for it. I do have a lot of army experience but I've have been in the navy since the end of the seperatist movement when the Empire really started becoming brutal. I saw some things I don't even want to remember. I guess you could say I will be the tactical field specialist if things go bad and if things go well then I will just be the mechanic".

Jarl turns to the other team member, "Its Kregen right? What's your story?"

Finn accepts the veteran's hand and gives it a firm shake. "Whatever doesn't kill you..., right?"

Finn circles his head around and takes a look at various components within the shuttle as if searching for any little thing that seems out of place. His attention settles back on his squadmates and he compulsively blurts out again before letting Kregan get a chance to respond to Jarl's question. "So you know Admiral Ackbar personally or just in passing? How did you manage to get recruited to Home One? Hell of a ship, huh?" he asks in rapid succession but all the while retaining an honest curiosity.

The average build of a man with sandy blonde hair, blue eyes, siting on the edge of his seat. He was listenning intencely to Finn and Jarl's conversation, untill asked about himself. Kregen smiles widely, and a very friendly tone. He is used to people iinterrupting him.

"Yes my name is Kregen. My story isn't one of much glory or experience in battle or in technology as you two. I am more of a Merchant and Entrepenuer of sort.
I ran a few of my own company's back home, including moister farms, salvaging Emperial and republic tech, and own my own shooting range. If you need to know about dealing with people, prices, and how much something costs, thats me, and my blaster skill are not to be taken lightly."

Kregen shakes Jarl's hand after Finn.

"I am glad to have someone like you to at least be guiding us around the admirals tactics, Jarl, and you Finn for the tech support. Though I am not as anxious as you it seems."

Kregen extends his hand to Finn

"Though not as zelous as Finn here seems to be, I also share an intrest in this magnificient ship."

"And why wouldn't they be? A true merchant should be able to handle his own products and if you've been salvaging Imperial material, blasters will no doubt be among them." He says as he shakes Kregen's hand.

"So Kregen, why is it you decided to enlist with the Republic?"

Male Human Noble lvl 1

"Well said my friend, and i have practiced at my own range quite abit."
He pauses for a moment
"Well, lets just say I am tired of the way the Empire runs buisness, so why not actually do something about it."
"So here I am, and i wouldn't mind making a few creds, along the way, oh and increase my reputation as a buisnessman."

The three of your arrive at Home One. Once you are off the shuttle you are met by none other General Gam Fahordan. He looks you over approvingly. "Not bad. A war veteran, a space specialist, and a trader. Nice evidently you are the lot I am trusting these dangerous and complicated missions to. Regardless you are who I have and Akbar recommended you all personally so I wont argue. We have a "delicate" mission coming up. We are enroute to Eraidu. A world that is still under rule of the empire, well more over its own empire. The governor there seceded from the empire and has his own little planet government. The Alliance is hoping to talk it into our fold. There are many resources that Eraidu has that could aid us in unifying the galaxy. Now the alliance wants to make peace but we will not accept no as an answer. So, if they refuse to join, we make them join. Sweet and simple. How do we do this. First we drop you on world and have you look for key locations should war break out. You know, recon sort of thing. Find important installations, personnel, figure out their military strength. Places that would hurt them if they lost them. You have until negotiations are concluded to find as much info as you can. Once the battle begins, I will send you instructions. You are permitted to use whatever means necessary to acquire the key information but if your are killed or capture, we will deny your existence and affiliation with us and write you off as independent rebels. Remember, these are imperials, even though they are no longer apart of the empire, they're governor believes himself to be the emperor and in my book that is enough to put him down like the dog he is. Now any questions?"

In response to Finn on the ship.
"Never met the Admiral. I've seen him at briefings but that's about it. I was on the flagship I think more out of pity and seniority then anything else".

In resposne to the General.
"Thank you for the opportunity General. Do we have any contacts established we can use on the ground?"

I would like to make a Knowledge - World Lore check on Eraidu.

"Until negotions are concluded? How long do you expect that to be, General?" Finn asks after Jarl gets his answers.

Both Martian Level 20 invader

Gam nods at Jarl. "There is one we are sending you to meet. He has already done some scouting and may have found a key location. Eriadu is a hostile world so I expect negotiations will be short. Then we can move onto aggressive negotiations."

Eraidu For Jarl:

A industrial world that was a strong imperial world. Produces war droids and the like. Recent change in galactic powers has led the world to become fiercely independent. This world will be crawling with ex-imperial stormtroopers and will likely not be to keen on the idea of joining a New Republic. "A dead drop on a hostile planet with all signs are pointing towards aggressive counter measures. Not to mention that we won't be recognized as Republic sanctioned soldiers." Finn exhales and coughs out a short laugh. "Forgive me General but I need to know. Are we paid up front or upon -errr- completion?"

Male Human, Soldier 3, HP 45/45 , Defenses F 16 - R 18 - W 14, Force Points 6/6, Initiative +9, and Perception +8 (No Special Senses)

"At least we have a foothold there". says Jarl clasping Finn on the shoudler.

"Based on what I know of Eraidu General I think you may be right, this Governor is only going to surrender at the business end of a blaster".

Shanosuke, I will do a quick review of Eraidu on Wookepedia tonight. Thanks.

"An optimist! I'll be sure to factor that into your skill set," says Finn as he shifts uncomfortably under Jarl's father-like, pinning hand. "What can be said about the man you have on the surface?"

I'm out of major posting time. I will try and have the next leg up tonight when I get home from work. Sorry bout that.

Kregen contemplates the world of Eraidu, as the general explained the mission.
He looks up the world on his data pad. He also looked up General Gam Fahordan as the other two are talking to him.

After he punches in the information he speaks up.
"Pardon me General, What type of signal should we expect when negotiations go south."
"Also, what type of resources do we have at our disposal."
"One last thing, what if we were to do our own negotiating and somehow manage to take control of the facility, would it be possible to stake a claim to the facility and use the facility as a new business, in the name of the Republic."
He says this semi enthusiastically at the potential of a new business opportunity.

”I am a businessman and I qualifications, plus if I get this running it will create more revenue for the republic, and I am a man of honest business.”

Shanoske:
Is there any other checks that I need to do to convince him this is a good idea.

Both Martian Level 20 invader

Kregen:

No rolls needed. If your idea isn't going to work, no amount of rolling will make him change his mind unless you bluff it. If your idea is good he would go for it regardless of what you roll.

At Finn Gam chuckles. "You are paid when you are done working for us. Think of it as a nice savings account just waiting for when you get out on medical discharge. And if you die, it goes to your next of kin. And if you have none, well then you just made a generous contribution to the efforts of the Alliance."

At Kregen's questions Gam shrugs. "I will comm you on these special commlinks when you need to take action. Until then act like normal people. As for resources, You have your gear, your special commlinks, and whatever my man on the planet has collected. You are commandos, specialists, you should be able to get the job done with minimal resources. We will give out requisision tokens for you to request supplies but that is only an award for a job well done. Now I don't know which of the thousands of facilities you are talking about but if you can talk your way into an enemy base and get them to turn over all their resources to you then by all means give it a shot. Just know that these guys may not be particularly reasonable." He looks at you. "Anymore questions? You better ask quick, we will be sending you down to Eraidu soon."

"I, for one, have no more questions," Finn answers to his commanding officer. "O wait! No I do actually," the boy exclaims with a roguish smile blooming. "How would you plan on spending my 'generous contribution' sir?"

Male Human Noble lvl 1

Kregen puts his free hand on Finn’s other shoulder that Jarl is not holding.
”The General meant do we have any relevant questions to our “mission,” Mr. sarcastic. What he does with our “Contributions “is something to be said after the mission.”
To the General ”I think I speak for the rest of us that we have no further important questions, and we should be ready for the drop to Eraidu after a few checks for our gear.”
“If you two don’t have any other important questions, Kregen says pointing to Jarl and Finn then I suggest we get our equipment ready and prep ourselves for the drop on the surface.”
He gestures for them to follow him to the drop room to get ready, and he whispers to Finn and just loud enough for Jarl to hear.
”I do however find your sarcasm entertaining, and it keeps things lively, but let’s get through this mission first, then worry about the ramifications after.”
Kregen then walks briskly to his supplies. He precedes to checks his blaster pistol, then holsters it, grabs his extra battery backs, and medpacks.

"Yeah, yeah, I know. It is a valid question though," Finn explains with begrudging acceptance of the situation.

So it's not THE Empire, but it's AN empire. Practice maybe. At least I'm down to the root of it. Fighting the good fight so to speak. O well, may as well get to it.

"Okay, inventory." he says as he pops suddenly out of thought. Finn swings his backpack off of his left shoulder and begins checking his supplies. "Yup. Okay. And pistol? Check," he says with his hand on the weapon strapped to his right thigh. "Everything seems accounted for; should be ready to go. Good luck on those negotiations General!"

Both Martian Level 20 invader

Several hours go by and soon it is time for your drop. You board a shuttle with Gam and a pilot and head to a nearby space station in the system. There you book transit under fake IDs to the planet Eraidu. Gam informs you that the negotiations will be concluded in three days time and then we will know if there will be a fight. In the meantime meet with your other squad mate (He gives you a key phrase for you to identify each other with) and begin to do some scouting of even some preemptive "rebel" work and maybe take down some defenses around the city. If they don't know its us they may blame it on terrorists.

You all leave the station and head down planet side. Security is very lax it seems as they don't even ask for your passports once you land. Once on the planet you are told to look for a blind guy. He would meet you at the station.

Me'eonia thats your queue to say hello.

Finn looks to his companions as they make their way down the bustling corridors of the station, "Does anyone else find it amusing that our contact, the blind guy, will be giving us an update on everything he's seen and recorded while he's been here? I'm afraid to say we may have put our eggs in the wrong basket."

Male Human Noble lvl 1

Kregen chuckles.

"I know egg-sactly what you mean, but we can turn a blind eye to that fact."

Kregen then thinks for a moment.

"Maybe he has a guide to help him."

"What do you think Jarl?"

male Miraluka Scoundrel 3

An old looking man with a rag wrapped around his eyes stumbles into the group. "Ohh! I am sorry sirs! Ple...Please may I beg from you some food? A drink? Perhaps a warm place to lie my head tonight?" The old man keeps his head bowed and staggers back and forth while he awaits your answer.

What city did we land in?

Jarl grunts as he appraises the blind man wondering if he is really "blind" or just acting.

Jarl follows along with the rest of his team but keeps an eye out for anything unusual such as sentients who seem too interested in the meeting.

Perception 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

As the group begins to move through the city Jarl makes a quick assessment of everything he sees. Such as whether the security are stormtroopers, their relative strength here at the port, if we journey far enough outside of the port whether there are regular patrols, what vehicles security uses, and whether there are any obvious anti-aircraft securities atop any buildings for a start.

Feeling foolish for not recognizing the vagrant as the team's contact, Finn remains silent while they make their way through the station to a secure briefing area. He makes sure to keep his eyes open for any strategic locations the General may be interested in along the way.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

Both Martian Level 20 invader

The city you are in is Eriadu City, the capital of the planet.

Jarl:

Stormtrooper security exists but strangely doesn't seem to heavy. If a fight did break out for whatever reason, you deduce you would not be easily outnumbered as long as you are able to put down baddies quickly and efficiently. Also, movement would not be heavily restricted as there seem to be a good many places to go and hide. You do notices large anti air guns though. This would make bombing runs and infantry drops extremely difficult. Those seem to be the planets primary defense. As you wander into the streets you do notice a nice number of AT-PTs and some AT-STs about but no sign of the infamous AT-ATs. With all the buildings, you would have any easy time avoiding the both walker types.

Oddly, the number of these vehicles is only half the number of infantry you've seen. The ratio of the too is not tactically advantages as the vehicles are meant for support and require a 4 to 1 ratios of infantry to vehicles. The current set up would allow enemy infantry to out maneuver and out wit the vehicles. Especially in a city fight situation. It is possible the imperials are relying on their anti air guns to keep infantry from being a problem. If those guns were to go down then the empire on the planet would be at a critical disadvantage.

No one follows you.

Finn:

You are fairly certain by the size and number of the Anti air guns in this city that those are the planets primary defense. Infantry number is low but there are a lot of vehicles. AT-STs and AT-PTs to be precise. Those too could be a problem.

You all move to a local cantina where you will be able to discuss tactics in private. The music is loud and there are a lot of distractions. You all find a nice place to sit in a booth that provides relevant privacy.

Finding a nice seat with plenty of padding, Finn orders himself a drink and waits until after his first long swig before asking the scout, "So, my friend, what news do you have for us? Good news?"

How much would a drink in a cantina cost?

male Miraluka Scoundrel 3

After getting seating and everyone getting drinks, the old man waits for one of the others to buy his drink in keeping with the deception.

Once everyone is cozy and has libations, the old man speaks, "My name is Me'eona Lakur. I have been here for sometime scouting. I have identified some key targets. The primary target should be the Capital City Defense Bunker. The bunker houses the controls for the planitary defense AA guns. Our comrads should find it much easier to fight without them."

After taking a sip Lakur continues, "There are secondary targets. Once the AA guns are disabled, it may be possible to get to the droid control facility. I don't know your skills, but I'm rather handy with hacking. If we can get by the security and hack the system, then we should be able to take control of all the defense droids adding them to our soldiers." The "old man" freezes for a moment and then continues, "These imperials are sloppy. Everything is run from one control facility. So, what assets do you all bring to this little game?"
using perception to make sure there are no eaves droppers and see force to make sure there are no others about 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 201d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15

Shanosuke:

Spoiler:
what exits and entrances have I scouted out in the defense bunker? for clarification, the AA controls and the droid controls are within the same facility correct?

Finn leans back in his seat and intertwines his fingers over his belly as he listens to Me'eona go through the details. "I'm Finn, pleasure to meet you Me'eona. Let me start by saying that I too am a pretty competent slicer. Also, if we're to come across any broken or salvageable machines in our travels I should be able to patch or rig them into something useful," he breaks to take another large slurp, "If only for a short while. I actually noticed the number of automated AA turrets on our way in here. I hoped that they we're all linked to the same network at the very least but to hear they're all in the same control facility is a godsend. Slice it, create a remote link and sit back and wait for the cavalry call and we should be golden."

He downs the little remainder in his glass and lets it hit hard on the table in front of him. I guess our biggest concern should be gaining access to this facility. Our intentions, not to mention our presence, should be concealed for as long as possible so blasting our way in is out of the question. Obviously, haha."

Also the two control stations are in vicinity to each other but not in the same facility. They are a barely a mile apart. Oddly the Droid facility isn't as easy to get into as the AA defense facility. You have never figured out why.

Alright we can wait. I put some important stuff into Jarl's spoiler and I'm sure he'll want to share it. Work seems to hold a lot of people up. Wonder what kind of jobs everyone has. Mine's hourly so it doesn't usually get in the way.

I am a tax attorney and workload is getting heavier instead of lighter these past few weeks. I also have a second job which I only work occassionally but that occassion has been this week so between the two I have been swamped.

Shanosuke I assume that we smuggled our blaster pistols through but not our blaster rifles as they would be too conspicuous.

"Glad to have you with us Me'eona I am Jarl. We are traveling light so we don't have much in the way of physical assets. What we do have is our skills and that should be all we need. The security here is lax and their resources are thin so if we can get our infantry down here it should be easy enough to outmaneuver their AT-PT's and AT-ST's".

Jarl pauses, "That is the trick though, getting them down here and trying to find the best place for them to land to launch an assault. I agree that the AA's need to be dealt with first. We should permanently disable the systems though not attempt to take them over if we are overrun or discovered we would be giving the advantage back. Can you take us to the area where the facility is Me'eona, casing the area will give us a better sense of how to accomplish the mission".

You also have a cache of weapons and gear for the team to use. This is where all of you gain your selected gear and issued weapons. Add three thermal detonators per person to the mix.

It's okay Jarl. I was just curious. A lot of people seemed to be swapped but we are coming up on the holiday season and money is on everyone's mind right now.

Me'eona considers his companions comments. "Alright, I can take you there. In addition, I have a stack of weapons that we can use. Once we are ready we can get them."

Me'eona listens to Jarl. "No, there is no shield. We should be about there." Moving around the block, the group comes upon the scene of their goal. Me'eona takes them on a listly walk around staying a respectful distance at all times and usually facing away from the structure as he describes the various points of entry. Having viewed the base, Me'eona begins walking back to the weapon's stash. "We should rest and begin to plan."

"Rest? We've just begun, why should we waste this momentum?" Finn pauses and surveys the building once more. "You didn't happen to get ahold of any schematics for this place yet, have you Me'eona? Provided we get in unnoticed, I'd had to spend our valuable time searching out the control deck."

You only have a general idea as to the building layout based off of shape and structure of the facility. Also you know patrols are small and cover a very wide patrol area, you are unsure as to most of the shift schedules but you do know that starting at 10 pm galatic standard time, it is the droid only shift.

You have been able to break down three possible access points to get to the main control room.

1st is scaling the facility. The patrols are tight on the inside but the exterior isn't watched to carefully. You would have to scale the walls and then climb the building without being detected. This involves a lot of climbing and stealth and could take a lot of time.

2nd is to get in through the delivery docks. Shipments of supplies to the facility don't happen often but they are consistent enough to plan around. They are also not guarded very well in transit. You could intercept one on it's way to the facility and smuggle on board. This is a good way for you too get right into the facility past the exterior defenses but inside the defenses are strong. However, best you can tell from the layout, it is a good push to get to the main control center. This part can either be done stealthy or violently.

3rd option is the direct approach. If combat is all the team has got, then combat is very possible. Stealing an AT-ST would be a cake walk. You can then use it to bypass gate security and then fight your through security. Which consists of droids and stormtroopers.

This is what you have all gathered looking over the base.
