My response was ninja'd by an echoing concern. And I know it is a valid concern which is why I wanted to check before I just showed up with a kid.
And I was not really considering the Chaotic alignment. I am leaning more towards true neutral with the whole of going neutral good. There is safety in numbers and once the kid realizes the party is a safe place then the idea of putting that at risk would be resigning them to living in the caves with just her animal companion, which while nice is still kinda lonely.
And I am a fan of conscienceless so if you wanna play a jerk then you get the full effects of being a jerk. Party won't like you and the NPC's also won't like you.

Dasur Deepborn |

You seem self-aware enough not to fall into the pitfalls of a child PC, Nalnera. I say go for it!
GM: When we were exploring the Gnomish observatory, we found a mosaic of the constellations set in precious gems.
The mosaic is recognizable as the sky you are accustomed to, but there is nothing about the date that stands out to you as important. The gems are a variety of jewels, primarily diamonds but also rubies, emeralds, and sapphires.
Dasur smashed the moasic and took the gems for his research without even bothering to appraise them. Because of their small size, I'm guessing none of the saphhires are going to be worth the required 100 gp for the ritual, but I'll go ahead and make an appraisal roll in gameplay now.
Also, does the rituals of widening and closing apply only to THIS rift, or can the widening/opening be done anywhere/in select locations?

Nalnera Tharnhammer |

Everyone has given the go ahead on the Feral Child Druid so that is what I am going to be building. Hopefully I can have it done by sunday but there is a really heavy talk to be had in my house and the outcome could be really bad so it may be a little longer depending on how that goes.
GM SuperTumbler I sent you a quest messages.

GM SuperTumbler |

Dasur, you said that honey ants and a stone wall were worthy of GM awards. I'm not at all looking for pats on the back here, but what did you mean by that? I feel like I'm not very good at PbP, though this game is perhaps my most successful. I grant most of that to the awesome players, but what about that particularly was good?
We are soon to move beyond what is published for this campaign. I have lots of plans for that, but I'd love to know exactly what is working.

Dasur Deepborn |

The honey ants were a great way to add flavor and detail to the world. It gives us an idea of what the jungle is like- for all of Erebos' talk about the Mivarium being murderous murders and dinosaurs wanting to eat us, the jungle is clearly not some inhospitable hellscape and has some enjoyable things in it. It's good storytelling, and gives our characters something to talk about and react to. Us RPaddicts are always looking for something to react to.
I mentioned the stone wall because it means you're paying attention to our character abilities. You could have just said "the group takes the straightest path possible to get to the other side of the jungle" but instead you had them follow the cavern wall Dasur can use his Rock Trick spell so they don't have to worry about shelter. I don't expect there to ALWAYS be rock walls about, and indeed briefly removing a safety net that players have come to rely on is a good way to shake things up, but I appreciate my character getting to use his abilities.
Wow, does the published campaign only go into the mine? They didn't even finish Dammerhall proper? In any case I have every faith you will do the ancestral mountainhome justice. You've done a great job as a PbP GM so far!

GM SuperTumbler |

Yes. There are only two books. The mine is detailed. Other than that, there is just an outline. I've gathered piles of material for Dammerhall itself, so I don't have a lot of worries about that. There is one particular area of Dammerhall that I wish they had published maps for, because it is neat and really hard to map.
That said, I've already created stats for most of the threats in Dammerhall. Just have to decide which maps to use, but I have several options.

Regnir |

That was a big part of why I did not just drop the game. Amazing players and a fantastic GM! You were willing to take on a campaign knowing you were going to have to homebrew most of it and that is a lot of work.
We have a titan corpse, we have smoke peace pipes with mushroom people, and you have two NPC's in the party that feel like part of the party but are not dragging us around by the nose! I am a fan of DM run party members but so many people are not and I understand why. It can go wrong really easily. You give hooks without being pushy about them and don't like you would be irritated if we ignored them.

Dasur Deepborn |

Nah, I don't interpret GMs asking for feedback as fishing for compliments. We all have more to learn and I'm happy to give my perspective on things!
At least the campaign writers left you with an outline! I'm also impressed you've statted out everything, it makes me happy to know you're in this for the long haul. Once we're done maybe you can even put your notes out there for others looking to run this campaign? You could have the de facto version of Dammerhall!

Snorri Tharnhammer |

Aaah, level 5, so lovely, even more so for the wonderful set of Level 3 spells that our casters will get.
I'm going for the Weapon Divine Bond, ancestral axe and all. For HP, I'm getting 1d5 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6; not great but I had good rolls on previous levels.

Snorri Tharnhammer |

A short while ago. Right after traversing the boiling land.

Dasur Deepborn |

I'll get to work on level 5 when I can, I have the difficult task of choosing which fireball Dasur should learn!
Glenda gets two levels, how exciting!

Glenda Dalduraz |

Hit points: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Hit points: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
(+4 Con bonus)
Saves: +1 Fort, +1 Will
BAB +1
+1 Wisdom
Skills: +2 each of: Diplomacy, Heal, Knowledge (religion), Perception, Sense Motive, Spellcraft; Appraise, Knowledge (history)
Feat: Bless Equipment

Dasur Deepborn |

HP roll, base six, +1 con, +1 favored class:: 1d3 + 3 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 1 + 1 = 6
5th lvl feat: Sacred Geometry (Piercing Spell, Elemental Spell)
Bonus Feat: Craft Wondrous Item
9 skill points:
Appraise:
Craft (Jewelry)
Knowledge (Arcana):
Knowledge (Dungeoneering):
+2 Knowledge (History)
Knowledge (Nobility)
Knowledge (Planes)
Spellcraft:
Background skills:
+1 knw: engineering
+1 craft: gemcutting
+2 3rd lvl slots, +1 bonus earth slot
+2 spells: Spider climb (Communal), Resist Energy (Communal)
-------------------
I'll probably regret not getting Dasur Dispel Magic, but that will have to wait until next level. Spider Climb is going to be way more useful. In the meantime, could you have that prepared just in case, Glenda?

Glenda Dalduraz |

Sure.
Also remember that I have masterwork transformation, so if anyone has weapons, armor, or backpacks that aren't masterwork, if we can get the material components (stuff needed to upgrade it with a value equal to the price difference), I can masterworkify it now.

Dasur Deepborn |

Dasur's current spell list:
0th:
Read Magic
Message
Prestidigitation
Detect Magic
1st: (DC 16)
+ Unseen Servant
- Mage Armor
- Enlarge Person
+ Burning Hands
+ Color Spray
+ (Earth) Grease
2nd: (DC 17)
+ Glitterdust
+ Stone Call
+ Create Pit
+ (Earth) Rock Trick
3rd: (DC 18)
+ Flaming Sphere (2nd lvl, DC 17)
+ Spider Climb, communal
+ (Earth) Resist Energy, communal
--------------
Yes, he just learned communal spider climb at the end of a 3 hour climb up a bunch of rubble. He had a lot of time to think about it.
Going off of of Glenda's comment, we also have a +1 mithril chain shirt laying around that Snorri was going to modify for Iverna I believe. He's 5th level and can take the Master Craftsman feat now? Dasur went for Wondrous Item because that's more his style.

Torvi Stonesinger |

I have Torvi levelled, I just need to adjust her dice rolling macros. She has now taken "Scribe Scroll" as her new feat. Coupled with her Spell Kenning, there is a difference of opinion in the Rules Forum, but I think she can scribe a scroll of any Bard, Cleric, or Wizard spell.
If the GM is of the same opinion, then we can scribe some scrolls, either to get them into Dasur's spell book, or to have them ready in an emergency.
If the GM disagrees with how it works with Spell Kenning, then I'll choose a different Feat than Scribe Scroll.

Snorri Tharnhammer |

The problem with Master Craftsman (or Craftsdwarf, in this case) is that it takes two feats to be able to enchant only armor. On the other hand, it's wonderfully flavorful for Torag. I was thinking of getting Barroom Brawler at this level, but I'll leave it unassigned while I think a bit about it.
Changelog:
+8 HP (roll 6, +2 Con)
+1 BAB
+1 rank in Diplomacy, Knowledge (dungeoneering), Knowledge (religion), Intimidate, Perception, Sense Motive, Craft (armor) and Knowledge (nobility)
Feat (either Barroom Brawler or Master Craftsman)
Divine Bond (weapon, +1, 1/day)

Dasur Deepborn |

Barroom Brawler is really good, and paladins are feat starved, so I certainly won't take that from you. Dasur can pick up other item creation feats later.

Gren Firetalon |

Firetalon: HP: 1d4 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 2 = 10
Feat is augment summoning.
Access to those sweet third level spells. of which currently will be Stone Shape, Burst of Nettles cause I love those spells!
No change to saves or bab
Nature, Perception, Survival, Stealth. Acrobatics and two into Planes,
Background skill is Geography & handle animal
Greyclaw: HP: 1d4 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 3 = 11
No change to saves or bab
single skill rank goes into acrobatics
I had made a note for Greyclaw to take lt armor proficiency. In a group of dwarves will someone work on making her armor? When there is time?

My interpretation is that you can use Spell Kenning to scribe a scroll of a spell not on your list, but that you would not be able to cast the spell from the scroll without a UMD check if it isn't on your list. A great boon to Dasur and possibly Erebos.

Torvi Stonesinger |

Thanks. Yeah, I figured it was a great way for Torvi to help Dasur and Glenda, and heck, get some of the utility Bard spells for myself as well. I think we can all agree that helping Erebos isn’t hardly on Torvi’s mind.
Now I just need scroll writing stuff!

Dasur Deepborn |

That's great Torvi, thanks so much!
Unfortunately Dasur only has 2 parchments left, and the last time we got to restock was in the Mushroom People place. But you are more than welcome to use them, he already has plenty of scrolls and magical writing materials.
GM, thanks for the heads up. When we next rest Dasur will attempt to learn Fly, though it's his opposition school and it probably won't go well/he may not use it out of supersitition. Erebos is more than welcome to learn Spider Climb, Communal, and Resist Energy, Communal from Dasur's spellbook.
I also realized Dasur has several scrolls on hand he needs to learn- Cat's Grace, Web, and Stinking Cloud, namely.

Dasur Deepborn |

Excellent. I will get Dasur's trap plan posted as soon as I can because-
I'm in training all this week, so I will only be posting in the evenings. I'll try to get it together tomorrow but he's got some nasty spells for these things.

Dasur Deepborn |

I re-drew the web to be a 20ft radius, GM. I was wrong about it catching everyone though! At least it's blocking them from climbing and jumping on us again.

Snorri Tharnhammer |

I'm going to have some awfully busy days, so please bot me to avoid me slowing down. I plan on Smiting the big one and attacking it with bows while it's far away, switching to axe and Power Attacking (with Furious Focus) if I have a clear line. I should be back to normal halfway through next week.

Snorri Tharnhammer |

Ok, if Dasur can now dismiss the grease we need to walk on we can start a march of hurt. I suggest me first, Torvi second (attacking from reach, though I'll give cover) and the rest follows. I'll see if I can bull-rush the enemy to get some breathing space.

Dasur Deepborn |

Glad to hear you're back, Gren.
The elemental was destroyed and bored a hole through the webs. The webs are flammable, but the fire from them does not spread.
RIght now we're at the end of the web tunnel and SNorri just toook a pair of massive hits.
I was going to converse spells, but their leader is an absolute monster. I'll see what I can do to keep it under control.
