Marnir Saltvig |

Marnir's battle future is undiminished by the hobgoblins' discipline and skill, and if anything is increased by the grievous wounds suffered by Kung. Roaring out his warchant, he thrusts his axe out towards the hobgoblins before stamping his foot on the ground. A rippling wave of sound and force spreads out towards the deck of the Bloody Ruin, accompanied by the sound of a hundred war drums beating in unison.
Free Action to continue inspired rage, Move Action to move 10ft to stand next to Kung (could I be moved on the map please?), Standard Action to cast thundering drums. A 15ft cone, by my reckoning, gets blue and green and the enemy captain. Those hit take 5d8 ⇒ (3, 5, 2, 4, 3) = 17 sonic damage and are knocked prone. A DC 17 Fort save halves the damage and keeps them on their feet.

Kungrusdak Nosvunkuk |

I moved you, Marnir. I also moved Kung to the ending square that I stated in my post. If Marnir ends his movement in the square that's no longer occupied by Kung, I think that cone will cover all four enemies.

Kungrusdak Nosvunkuk |

I was hoping that Kung would come to me, because having to use up my move action means I can't move my ball lightning spheres this round.
Kung's plan was to move to Niobe this turn; if @GM is okay with a retcon, let's do that instead.
Getting his bearings after making the big leap across, Kung rushes over to Niobe, drawing a potion from his belt pouch as he moves, hoping she has some healing ready. Knowing he can't keep his anger up while getting magical help, he allows his rage to wash away, stumbling just a bit on his last couple of steps as a heavy lethargy washes over his body. He receives her healing with gratitude, downing his own potion in the process. He drops his hands to his knees only briefly, hanging his head to catch his breath before standing back up straight to survey the ships decks.

OK. Kung moves to be beside Niobe.
Markizio is a fury of blade and magic, cutting one down and then flicking the blood on his blade into the eyes of the next, slicing him open with the following perfect strike of his Falcata.

Reflex save(Blue): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Moving to heal Kung, Niobe calmly takes the time to send two humming balls of lightning into the Hobgoblins waiting to cross to her ship.
Just awaiting Marnir then the next round begins, after a shocking first few the balance is starting to shift back your way. Or is it?

Marnir's first strike skids off the armor hidden in the captains coat Hask Svard is wearing. His second blow compensates handily and sinks into flesh with a satisfying thud.

School transmutation [fire]; Level cleric/oracle 1, druid 1,sorcerer/wizard 1
CASTING
Casting Time 1 standard action
Components V, S
EFFECT
Range Short (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)
Target Held metal item of one creature or 15 lbs. of unattended metal
Duration Instantaneous
Saving Throw Reflex negates (object, see text); Spell Resistance Yes (object)
DESCRIPTION
This spell causes a metal object to instantly become red hot. A creature holding the item may attempt a Reflex save to drop it and take no damage (even if it is not their turn), otherwise the hot metal deals 1d4 points of fire damage per caster level (maximum 5d4). Circumstances that prevent the creature from dropping the item (such as a locked gauntlet) mean the creature gets no saving throw. The heat does not harm the item, and it does not get hot enough or last long enough to ignite flammable objects. The item cools to its previous temperature almost instantly. If cast underwater, burning disarm deals half damage and boils the surrounding water.
The party can now have their actions.

Marnir Saltvig |

So my understanding of what happened is that Hask threatened a crit, then failed to confirm? Which means I take 20 damage but don't lose a mirror image. Does that sound right?
Marnir howls in pain as the hobgoblin captain scores a slice down his leg, blood running freely onto the deck. He uses the pain to focus, his shining axe slicing and hacking back at the hobgoblin.

GM_DBH |

@Marnir. No, 1st attack hit you for 20pts. Second was threatening a crit, but hit an image. So 20pts from one attack, a lost image from the other.
I see the problem, I rearranged the original post, which changed the attack roll order. It was a hit on the 1st attack and a possible crit which took out an image on the 2nd attack. Despite what it ended up as on the post we'll take what it was originally. Shame really, that's a 3x crit weapon too. :(

Marnir Saltvig |

That's fine, it just looked a bit out of order which confused me. I'll take down an image.

Kungrusdak Nosvunkuk |

Kung, fighting through a fatigue that drags at his muscles and motions, continues to press the attack on the opposing captain. Not liking the fact that the Unbound Drake has been boarded--a very rare occurrence indeed--he swings his greatsword in two great arcs. He attempts to give his captain a grim smile, but is unsure which of the pair to smile at. Two captains. How he do that? I don't think Kung has ever fought beside Marnir outside of a rage before, so this is the first he's noticed the mirror images.

Niobe dispels Hetty's casting, causing the other woman to shriek angrily. "Rude wench! Stop bothering your betters!"
Her shrieks grow louder as Jane's bomb hits her exactly and the liquid hisses on her flesh.
Both Marnir & Markizio find her erratic flailing hard to predict and their blows glance of the armor of bones encasing the madwoman.
Just waiting on Kung and then Hetty will fix you good!

Kungrusdak Nosvunkuk |

Tired though he is, he's not so hampered that he can't leap back onto the other ship. Climing up onto the Unbound Drake's gunwale, Kung leaps into the other ship's rigging. He swings to the main mast, which he uses as a leaping point to change his direction so he can come up behind Mad Hetty with a vicious swing of his sword.

Kung's blow slams into Hetty, the floating bone hovering in front of her blunts the impact, but enough gets through to seriously bloody her.
Hetty blinks "Well s+@$." She gives you a hopeful smile "I surrender." Her voice now sounds a lot less insane.
Silence falls as the last combatant awaits your decision, the rest have gone down to the crews of the Drake and the Godless.
What are you doing now?

GM_DBH |

You have the lightly damaged Bloody ruin it contains 2 points of plunder, 1 of general loot and 1 of barrels of black powder.

Kung's blow slams into Hetty, the floating bone hovering in front of her blunts the impact, but enough gets through to seriously bloody her.
Hetty blinks "Well s%%~." She gives you a hopeful smile "I surrender." Her voice now sounds a lot less insane.
Silence falls as the last combatant awaits your decision, the rest have gone down to the crews of the Drake and the Godless.
Markizio straitens out his clothes but does not put away his blade as he approaches the witch, "B@~~+, a moment ago you were trying to kill us all and now you want mercy?"
He turned to Marnir, "Up to you captain. Just say the word and I'll lop her head off."
tag?

Kungrusdak Nosvunkuk |

When Hetty slumps and asks for mercy, Kung finds himself in an unusual position: he has a clear mind at the end of the combat. He hears her words, and lets his sword drop. Always like this, ask mercy? Kung usually end fight with head chop. Maybe chopping heads before listening for ask mercy?
He ponders his unusual predicament, and by the time he comes to the conclusion that he's comfortable with the beheadings anyway, Markizio has already offered, so Kung leaves the point of his greatsword in the deck as he awaits Marnir's decision.

Marnir Saltvig |

"Too right you surrender," Marnir says, the fury of battle ebbing away. "Why did you come after us?" he growls, flicking the hobgoblin blood from his axe as he does.
Without waiting for an answer, he turns to Markizio. "Let's hold off on the beheading for now, first mate. Don't put your sword away just yet, though."

Louisiana Jane |

Jane, seeing that the woman has surrendered, puts away her bomb that she was mixing and grabs some rope. "Well, for now, let's get her tied up and take away anything that can be used to cast spells."

GM_DBH |

Hetty doesn't resist being stripped of her gear and bound. She gives Marnir a rueful smile. "Ah well. Personally I had nothing against you Captain, but Hask? Once he heard his little brother had been killed and some newcomers were roaming the seas with his weapon?" She nods at the Falcata Markizio is holding. "Well he was set on bloody vengeance."
She shrugs. "I don't know how you humans do things, but when the leader says to do something you do it in a Hobgoblin band. Obey or die is a hard law to shake you know?"
"So he captured another ship and had me crew it with Zombies. Packed it with a fortune in black powder and sent it at you." She sighs, "All that lovely loot, and two good ships lost because Hask wanted revenge."

Marnir Saltvig |

"That didn't end up so well for him, did it?" Marnir grins as the witch finishes her story. He turns to Kung. "Get her in a boat and get her overboard. We've got business in Port Peril."
"Let's get this ship stripped first mate," he says to Markizio, "and a prize crew aboard. We can sell her off in Port Peril before we bribe our way into an audience with the Hurricane King."

Niobe Aptos |

"Exciting!" says Niobe. You get the impression that she barely manages to contain herself from jumping up and down and clapping.
"That little conflict exposed some tactics that I can improve to help more, I think," she adds. "Does anyone still need magical healing, or can it wait?"

Markizio Voralius |

Markizio smiles as he looks at his weapon, "Yes, this is fine blade but not worth dying for. Say... is this some sort of hobgoblin relic or something?"
He then looked at the armored coat with a glint in his eye, "Maybe I should complete the hobgoblin slayer outfit, eh?"
He tried it on for size and asked, "Well, how does it look?"
-----------
GM: what's the armored coat AC bonus. I just unlocked a class ability that let's me cast spells with medium armor. And if the AC is better than my chainshirt +2 then I'll keep it.

Markizio Voralius |

"That little conflict exposed some tactics that I can improve to help more, I think," she adds. "Does anyone still need magical healing, or can it wait?"
Markizio moved to the woman with a slight limp, blood on his thigh. "I could use some healing right about now if you have any. Who do you call on for healing? Besmara?"
----------
Markizio is 39/59 hp

Louisiana Jane |

Jane walks over to Markizio, "Open up." she say as she starts to bring a vial up to his mouth.
CMW: 2d8 + 5 ⇒ (5, 3) + 5 = 13

Niobe Aptos |

Niobe taps Markizio with her healing wand. "I call on the stick of healing!" she says with a faux-serious tone. "Looks like Jane has you well in hand, too."
Wand of cure light wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
"I'm a devotee of the Green Faith," she adds, "And I also pay homage to Naderi."
