The town is quiet, very little happening at the moment.

Unless anyone has a purchase they want we will set sail for the Tidewater rock.

It's a weeks voyage with good weather, so everyone give me a D100 roll for events as you travel.

I don't think I have anything to buy or sell, but I am going to leave my shield in my cabin from now on. I'd rather have the bonus damage from wielding my axe two-handed, especially now I can cast mirror image. I'll adjust my profile accordingly.

With Ghilda taking care of the sale of the Devil's Pallor (if that's OK with you Ghilda?) Marnir spends a little time leaving a message for Captain Norva of The Best Revenge with the town's harbourmaster, asking her to meet them at Tidewater Rock at her earliest convenience. With the important business done, Marnir heads to the rowdiest looking dockside tavern he can find for a few mugs of ale before the Drake sets sail again.

Markizio happily sold his tidewater cutlass and provided the funds obtained to the common pool.

He then bought himself a new white shirt and his laundry professionally cleaned before getting back on the ship.

Markizio, yes, we have a common pool - I'll account for the sale of the cutlass (1697.5gp, thank you very much). I'll get the other stuff and the plunder sold too.

Ghilda identifies the local merchant, who seems eager to get new business in the sleepy town. He offers a fair price for the wool, fruit (much to Chorley's chagrin) and the other loot gained in the recent exploits of the Drake. Trusted sailors bring back sacks of gold, filled with 12,228gp and five silver pieces...not bad.

"Cap'n - I present to you the income from our latest adventures!" Running her hands through the gold, Ghilda smiles and gives silent thanks to Besmara.

Kung is happily equipped at the moment, and doesn't feel like he needs to do any shopping. He assists Ghilda with the sale of the plunder and ship, mainting security over the very large amount of gold that they return with.

When he sees Markizio in his new clean digs, he shouts an exclamation with joy. "Fancy man look good! New shirt, very clean!" He moves in as if to embrace the magus, but stops at the last minute with a smile. "Kung respect, not want make dirty." He makes a show of wiping his hand on his pants and holds it out for a handshake instead.

The Unbound Drake sets sail again, the crew is in good heart after the recent profitable cruises. It's a westerly course to Tidewater rock and you're blessed with a nice steady wind in your sails coming off the coast.

A day out of port and the lookout cries out. "One sail on the port bow! Small ship and she's not moving."

Coming closer you can see.

A fishing trawler rides low in the water, heeling several degrees
to port. It is obviously taking on water. The sails flap loosely from the yards and a fishing net drags in the water over the starboard side.

As you draw up beside the trawler.

Perception check DC10:
Circling the ship to examine it, you can easily see a breach in the hull on the port side just above the waterline, and the waves are slowly swamping the ship. The davits that held a small dinghy at the stern are empty, indicating that the crew abandoned ship.

Perception check DC15:
There are no signs of damage or battle other than the breach in the
hull. While making a close pass of the sinking trawler you notice the shape of a dinghy deep underwater, slowly sinking.

The lookout's cry snaps Marnir from his gazing at the horizon, and he runs over to the port gunwale. "Good eyes, that man!" he calls.

After seeing that no apparent danger was on board, Markizio stepped up to board the fishing trawler.

He quickly called over a couple of the crew and readied himself.

He jokingly called back to the officers, "Just be ready to come rescue me if something is going to mess with my newly pressed shirt."

Chorley crosses to the trawler, skitters along the deck and peeks into the hold and any open cabins.

Kung joking, not think tiny ship can be threat. But okay. While definitely wearing a look of confusion at the start, Kung begins the work of making sure that all weapons on the side of the trawler are both manned and armed. Then, as Chorley begins the search of the small vessel, Kung joins Markizio at the gunwale, ready to begin boarding if necessary.

Ghilda beckons Chorley to her shoulder: "Buyela kum, Chorley!"

Chorley hops over to the Drake and takes his place on Ghilda's shoulder, looking back to the trawler inquisitively.

"Chorley say is threat after all? Not just small dead boat?" Kung readies his weapons, making sure everything is firmly sheathed and strapped so that he can cross over to the other ship, then makes his way onto the trawler.

"Fancy man good in fight, but silly to not help." He mutters to himself as he crosses over. "Also, fight is fun."

He then cast a spell and smiled as he saw Kung coming over, "I thought you would come over. Besides, you have to see if I learned anything from your sparring lessons. This new weapon needs to see some real action.."

"What about the hold? We should peek in there, I think..." Ghilda is not really happy with the thought, nor with voicing it.

Chorley says, "Ndiza kuhamba!", and so Ghilda clambers over to the trawler - "We'll both go, monkey." She orders (well asks Marnir, of course) the rest of the crew on the Drake to stand by the side of ship next to the trawler, and she casts Prayer on her allies.

Everyone gets a plus one on everything, while any enemy get minus one. This lasts for five rounds.

"Pirate Queen! Please, your blessing!"

Ghilda then draws her rapier, and investigates the hatch to the hold.

"Keep an eye on the seas," Marnir says as his officers make their reports. "Whatever attacked these unfortunates may still be lurking below the waves." Marnir remains aboard the Drake awaiting further developments, looking out for signs of danger.

One of the crew hauls the hold cover aside. Moving to look into the darkened area. He shrieks girlishly in surprise as he's immediately attacked.

Stumbling backwards with a curse as 4 Sahaugin scramble out of the hold where they had been impatiently waiting for you.
