Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1

I'm ready to get crackin', too. Is Whisper/Guard/Thoven's conversation over for the moment?

Warforged Fighter 2 / Incarnate 4 / Ironsoul Forgemaster 3

Guard has nothing to add for the moment. He does not really understand what it means to have the mark, but he didn't understand the Incarnum-thingy at first too.
Might want to wait for Whisper though...

Male Human Wizard (Universal) 9

How long will it take us to get to Kraken's Cove by boat? If it's more than a day, Daurros will use the extra time to scribe a few more scrolls ... otherwise, I'm good to proceed, as well.

GM

The captain has a fast ship, your looking at 12 hours in good weather. Are we all ready to proceed?

Male Human Wizard (Universal) 9

I'm set.

Question for the team: if we set out first thing in the AM, a 12 hour trip has us at Kraken's Cove in the evening. Does anyone else think it unwise to explore it at night? My suggestion - we 'park' the ship a few miles away (5, which would be an hour's travel and hopefully keep us out of sight), sleep the night, then sail the last hour in the morning.

Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1

Why not sail at night and sleep during the journey and arrive in the morning? Unless there's some reason that we can't do that because of tides or something, or maybe there's no moon. (I know nothing about sailing.)

Sounds fine to me, too. Still would allow Daurros to get a few more scrolls prepared. Does anyone else have a travel preferrence? Take the red-eye or early bird?

GM

Eberron has 12 moons, and a ring. Its is never pitch black and most nights would be what we think of a full moon, some nights brighter all in how many moons are up and just where you are. Will get a post up tonight been busy

GM

The next morning the crew arrives on the Windward Sprite. Ardanto meets Amella Venkalie, a slight but powerful woman with fine blond hair. A thin scare graces her right cheek and shes seems to Ardanto a foul-mouth but very competent sailor. Up on learning the plan to sail with the evening sun she swears in several languages and with gusto , even a few unknown to Ardanto. She looks over Ardanto's chart. "Ay , we can do it. have to move like shades of khyber at the doors. I'll get the lazy lots ya hired to get the rigging in line, be sure to have the land huggers ready to go. We'll have to drop you a few miles from sure, charts don't cover the cove and I have no wish to sink this ship in unknown waters."

Thes rest of the day goes by fast, and in a blurr of motion as the ship is readied to sail. The Windward Sprite leaves Sesserine right before the sun disappears beneath the waves. The golden band of Siberys can be seen in the southern sky. The silver-grey of Eyre, the pale yellow of Nymm and the pearly white of Zarantyr lighten the night as these three moons are most full and clear this night. With the night to guild you , good charts and crew you make the Cove soon after the sun reaches over the horizon The crew brings the ship in close to a secluded beach, a few miles west of the cove to keep out of sight and to keep to the open water.

Ok your ball :). if you would like to cover anything in the 12 hour voyage let me know

Warforged Fighter 2 / Incarnate 4 / Ironsoul Forgemaster 3

Boarding the ship Guard has a little package under his arm, wrapped in old linen. He looks for Daurros, and after finding him he speaks:
"Daurros! I got something for you. I just got to finish this a couple hours ago, I hope you find it to your likeing."
With these words the warforged unwraps the small package and hands Daurros the masterwork rapier he ordered some days ago.
"I was working on one of those before you contacted me on this one, so it was fairly fast to finish." he adds explanatory.

"Also I got one other thing. I invested in a wand to magically repair my body, but can't use that myself. I'm torn between giving that wand to you or Lord Thoven. Would you like to take that responsibility?"

Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1

You probably know this, but Thoven can't use a wand of repair light damage. Finn could, in a pinch.

Before he heads off to sleep, Finn approaches Ardanto.

"Master Valanto, you and Guard have truly impressed me with your fighting skills. I always thought that weapons were for the weak; my master Osric taught me that they were a crutch and that nothing can replace tooth and claw and fist. But now I am not so sure. This spear I have seems a potent weapon to me, more potent than any kicks and punches I have seen."

"Do you think you could show me how to use a blade? I'm sure I could never be as good as you, but I once heard someone say knowledge is power."

Daurros takes the blade from Guard, and gives a few swings. "Excellant, excellant, my friend, as I knew it would be. Thank you. And I would be happy to hold on to the wand for you and use it when needed, as truth be told, the spell is arcane in nature and I'm unsure that Lord Thoven would be able to make use of it himself."

"I have also scribed a few new scrolls of the spell, so you should be well protected. And I have these scrolls here for Finn," Daurros exclaims, handing the prepared scrolls of shield to the half-elf.

Since we'll be waiting part of the next day to set sail, Daurros will scribe a few more scrolls (does Finn want another shield or two?). Then he'll rest on the ship, and study new spells when he awakes.

Warforged Fighter 2 / Incarnate 4 / Ironsoul Forgemaster 3

"Ah well. My knowledge in things arcane, divine and otherwise magically is limited, but I began to find those things interesting, thanks to my little friend here." he points to Snem floating around his shoulders, then continues: "And see what it has brought me? Take a look at this: " the warforged exclaims, getting carried away.
He throws his shining warhammer a few feet away from where they stand, then saying: "Now look!"
What follows is a swift gesture of his weaponsarm, followed by the warhammer comming back firmly into his grip.
"Seen that? Now go try to find a weapon that does that on the markets.
And have you noticed... ah, well, you surely have noticed that mantle. But what you can't know is this: It hurts those that attack me! I haven't heard of such a thing but Snem simply told me how to make one out of thin air! What do you say to that?"

Two more is plenty, thanks.

"That's very interesting ... I might just look into that a bit myself. It appears to be a type of magic I'm not very familiar with. I must ask - when did these changes first start coming over you? I admit, it almost seems like right after we were under Parrot Island, the mantle began manifesting."

"This magic, Snem calls it Incarnum, well, I think Snem somehow must have unlocked it, must have changed me so that I am now able to use it. I came to it under Parrot Island, indeed. I rescued Snem there.

But that mantle... I could let go of it everytime. It would unshape and be gone. Then I would have to rest a night and shape it, or something else instead, if I wanted to.
You remember the blue hue of my arms some days ago? That was another use of that Incarnum-magic."
the warforged explaines as good as he himself knows.

Female Human (mostly) Rogue 2

Guard/Thoven:

Spoiler:
Whisper seemed unsure how to take the news, she seemed relieved that it wasn't anything bad but also confused and a little scared over what it could mean about her. She doesn't ask any more questions however and thanks them both for helpingher.

Whisper is quiet, even for her, on the trip, seemingly having a lot on her mind. She looks at everything thoughtfully and seems a little lost but doesn't burden any of the others withher thoughts.

Warforged Fighter 2 / Incarnate 4 / Ironsoul Forgemaster 3

After talking with Daurros, Guard approaches Whisper slowly, nodding to her, but not saying much.
Sometimes people don't need to talk to understand each other. he thinks. I wonder if she feels the same kind of connection towards me.
Even Snem dimms his luminescence, while he hovers over the warforgeds shoulder.

Female Human (mostly) Rogue 2

Wordlessly Whisper leans against the warforged's chest as she looks thoughtfully up at the sky as though half expecting some sort of answer to just fall out of it. Despite remaining in silence she does smile a little, feeling better for knowing that whilst she felt a little lost she at least had a good friend beside her.

Fighter Level 9
Finn wrote:

Ardanto puffs out his chest proudly as Finn gives him a compliment, "Master Finn, do not sell your self short, in truth I am impressed in how you can be so devastating with out a weapon, how about we strike a deal, you train me how to combine your unarmed attacks with my weapons and I will train you how I use my blade?"

Assuming Finn is happy for that, he will spend his spare time sparing with the half-elf.

-----

He can't even pretend to understand the changes Guard is going through and just listens with open mouth admiration as he explains what he can do. "Mister Guard, you never cease to amaze me, please continue to bless me with your wisdom and if you feel I step out of line, as I did under the city in the sewers, feel free to be my voice of reason. " he grins widely at the big man.
"So this glow, this is shem?" he tilts his head to one side, "does it understand me?"

-----

Ardanto approaches Whisper, noticing her trying to be even smaller and more quite, he nods and smile, "Hello my lady, I hope Lavinia passed on the package to you?" he is studying her clothes, for a moment Whisper may even think he is mentally undressing her, if she has received the package from Lavinia, then she will probably realise he is trying to check if she is wearing the armour, if she has not received it, then she may think he is having another of his sessions.

-----

Ardanto loves the trip and plays the part of captain to the full, deferring to Amella Venkalie's advice where ever necessary. Any of you who did not realise he was not really a famous pirate captain could quite easily believe he was now.

Female Human (mostly) Rogue 2

Despite knowing Ardanto is looking over her to try to work out if she is wearing the armour or not Whisper can't help but blush as she's closely studied. "She did, yes. I meant to thank you sooner but I had a lot on my mind.." she confesses shyly "Are you sure you don't want it though? I'd hate for you to get hurt because I have this instead of you"

Warforged Fighter 2 / Incarnate 4 / Ironsoul Forgemaster 3

"Snem, yes, he understands you, as he recognises his surroundings." Guard answeres shortly, ignoring the rest of Ardantos words.

Fighter Level 9
Guard wrote:

Ardanto looks at Daurros and raises his shoulders in a shrug as Guard brushes him off so easy.

Aranto stops suddenly when he realises what he is doing, "Oh my god, I am sorry, I was looking at the armour, not at you," he stumbles over his words obviously embarrassed, "not that your not worth looking at because you are, but I wasn't," he pauses,"erm, shall I just shut up now?"

In an attempt to change the subject he taps his battered and twisted breast plate, "Saved me from a crocodile and a sword through the back, I think it should be okay for a while longer." he grins, his face flushed crimson red before heading off to check the rigging mumbling under his breath about how stupid he is.

GM

Soon after the ship is anchored you ready your gear and set off toward the shore in a rowboat. The morning air is cool and the sea spray is chilling as you make your way toward the sandy beach. The jungle back from the beach seems alive with bird calls and screeches from the things that call it home. Only the jungle and 5 or 6 miles of shore line stand between you and Vanthus Vanderborn

Fighter Level 9

Ardanto splashes over the side into the surf and helps drag the row boat onto the shore, "Right, lets stash this above the tide markers, and get going." He shoulders his back pack, checks the sheath on his longsword and heads off along the beach, hugging the tree line.

I have assumed that only we came over in the row boat.

Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1

Finn follows behind the heavily armored and mystically imbued warforged Guard, holding his spear at the ready.

Female Human (mostly) Rogue 2

Nervously wrapping her cloak around herself Whisper looks tempted to say something but thinks the better of it, leaving it to the others to determine the best route and the marching order for their trek.

Seeker:

Spoiler:
Added her Cloak of Elvenkind and 3 potions of Cure Light to her sheet and also knocked off all of her silver and copper to cover charitable contributions - hope this is ok :)

Warforged Fighter 2 / Incarnate 4 / Ironsoul Forgemaster 3

Guard lets Whisper scout ahead, keeping her within sight as good as he can.

Female Human (mostly) Rogue 2

Whisper gives Guard a faint smile before eagerly heading off ahead, embracing the idea of getting back to actually doing things rather than sitting and dwelling on her own jumbled thoughts.

GM

Whos is in the lead? and whats the marching order though the unknown jungle.

Whisper

Spoiler:
Sure thats fine :)

Warforged Fighter 2 / Incarnate 4 / Ironsoul Forgemaster 3

Whisper should be scouting ahead, Guard will try to take first position of the rest of the group

Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1

Finn is cautiously marching behind Guard.

Fighter Level 9

Ardanto will take up the last place in the order.

Can we follow the beach, or have we got to traverse through the jungle?

GM

You can fallow the beach for a mile or so but will have to go into the jungle after that as it brakes off

Male Human Wizard (Universal) 9

Daurros sticks to the middle, as normal for us squishy-types.

GM

As you make your way though the jungle, you get a feeling of something not right. The sounds of the jungle seem intense to much so, everything seems to be screaming. You smell smoke on the air the terrain moves down hill and you hear sounds in the bush of things fighting, above you birds crash into each other and claw and bit even as they crash. Some of you see animals who have been torn apart, but not eaten just left there to rot in the warming morning air.

Warforged Fighter 2 / Incarnate 4 / Ironsoul Forgemaster 3

Raising his voice over the sound of the jungle Guard says: "I don't like that here... Why are all the creatures here fighting? Can this be something Mind-effecting?"

Fighter Level 9

"I have a bad feeling about this," Ardanto mutters at the back of the group as he draws his Longsword to accompany the hand axe he has been using to cut the occasional vine.

Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1

Finn scans the undergrowth intently. "Be prepared for anything; it's clear that there is more than a Vanderboren afoot here."

Make a Perception check each round.

Daurros looks at the actions of the animals, and nods his agreement. "I believe you're right, Finn."

Can someone roll a Knowledge (Nature) +9 for me? Can the animal's actions be explained?

Daurros Erdai wrote:

Knowledge(nature) (1d20+9=25)

Male Human Cleric 5th

Thoven will happily take second in line if there's no objections.

With bow drawn and arrow notched, Thoven follows Behind Guard. The jungle unsettled him enough, even without the apparent maddening of the creatures within it."Light of the Flame, Guide us." He says to himself. He searches for some idea as to what might cause these things in his teachings.

Knowledge Religion and Planes, respectively 1d20+6=11, 1d20+6=23

Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1

Finn also casts Mage Armor.

GM

Finn

Spoiler:
You notice movements in the trees, almost like something surrounds you

Daurros

Spoiler:
This is not natural action, a rabid animal may do something like this, bu on this scale it may be a pack of animals, but the birds? rabid animals do not fit so large a scale

Thoven

Spoiler:

You are not sure what is going on, something is not right however

Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1

"I thought I saw something move...over there...no, there! All around us!" Finn hisses.

Male Human Wizard (Universal) 9

At Finn's warning, Daurros uses a charge from the mage armor wand.

Female Human (mostly) Rogue 2

Up ahead Whisper treads carefully and keeps a lookout for anything more specific than the general feeling of unease coming fro the jungle and it's wildlife. Although she finds the task a little difficult
in the face of how creepy the sounds are.

Perception (1d20+5=10)

GM

Even with the warning the things that hurtle themselves from the trees are not what you expect. Monkeys jump toward you, there fur a mass of blood and skin ripped and dangling , Madness dances in their eyes and saliva drips from fangs as they scream and throw themselves at you, one wrpas his self around Ardantos ankles biting him as yet another leaps upon thoven's neck biting his ear1hp each

Init:
Mad monkeys=20
Snem=17
Whisper=14
Ardanto=13
Finn=13
Thoven=13
Daurros=13
Forzakhad=12
Guard=12

your map

Round 1 fight :)..need a fort save form thoven and ardanto

Fighter Level 9

Fort save (1d20+5=10)

That doesn't look good enough to pass anything so i'll throw an action point at it.

Action point (1d6=2)

So a total of 12.

Ardanto yells out as the monkey bites him and tries to bat it off with his sword and handaxe.

Double attack on the monkey. (1d20+4=8, 1d8+3=6, 1d20+4=5, 1d6+3=8)

This is just taking the pee now, thanks IC for your great rolls of 5, 4 and 1! I really appreciated them!

Obviously startled by the sudden attack Ardanto gets his axe caught in an low branch and manages to stab the ground several feet away from the monkey vermin.
