GM

As whisper moves back Guard steps forward and lays into the door. I t gives way with a popping sound and light spills forward Illuminating a damp hall.

New map

Warforged Fighter 2 / Incarnate 4 / Ironsoul Forgemaster 3

Guard steps foreward (2 squares) as to not stand in the way, readying his halberd against any possible attacks.
He then waits for the others to arive in the hall.

GM

Finn

Spoiler:

You hear a light faint scrapping sound, It could be wood settling after the door was released

Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1

"Sssh!" Finn hisses as he moves forward along with Guard. "I thought I heard something for a moment."

He send the dancing lights ahead, his longspear at the ready.

GM

As Finn makes his way into the wider tunnel his lights float with him Illuminating the passage. Suddenly tow shapes stumble from the darkness, the bodes rotted and decayed. They stretch there arms out for you and there mouths gap wide, showing off pointed hungry teeth.

New map

It is a surprise round Finn may act. Others may go next round. Finn your up first

Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1

Finn gasps "What the blazes?!" and readies his longspear to attack the first misshapen beast who comes near.

Ready an attack/set spear against a charge

GM

The creatures lot out a howling moan of pure hunger, unlike anything a living being has ever made and charge Finn with mouths wide

You may make an AoO upon one of the creatures, you do not gain charge damage on both aoo and normal attack just one

Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1

Finn panics as the two monsters approach. The spear slips in his sweaty palms and badly misses.

Set vs. charge: 1d20+3=6
Attack of opportunity: 1d20+3=9

:-(

GM

The creatures slip past Finns attack, He manages to hold one off but the 2nd bits deep into him with its jagged teeth 4HP

End surprise round. Every one moves a normal now. The undead go last

Updated map

Warforged Fighter 2 / Incarnate 4 / Ironsoul Forgemaster 3

Guard steps foreward to meet the other undead with his halberd.
Diagonal step
Melee attack against Undead, round 1 (1d20+4=14)
Spending an Action Point
Action Point 1 (1d6=6) YAY! 14+6 = 20, that should be a hit.
Damage Halberd round 1 (1d10+6=10)

Female Human (mostly) Rogue 2

Whisper gives a surprised, scared yelp at the sight of the walking dead and quickly moves around behing Guard and Finn and levels her light crossbow at the shambling dead.

Ranged attack (1d20+3=22)
Damage (1d8=6)

Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1

Finn cautiously steps backwards, letting Guard take the brunt of the assault, and stabs with his longspear again.

1d20+3=18
1d8+4=7

GM

Hey guys tell me if your attacking the top or bottom one. I will mark them from now on...Good rolls BTW.. How I see it is Finn vs top one, guard and whisper on the bottom

Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1

Finn will focus on any injured monsters first; if neither monster is injured, he'll attack the top one.

Fighter Level 9

He glances over his shoulder at Daurros, grins and says "I wish I could come up with some witty one liner right now."

Ardanto will try and get into attack one (which ever one I can reach), if Finn is using a long spear can he fight over my shoulder?

Attack on the shuffling dead if I can get in. (1d20+4=14, 1d8+3=7)

Using a Longsword one handed, I have a base attack bonus of +1 so I can draw my hand-axe on the way in as well for next round, assuming I survive that far.

AC-18 HP-17 if that becomes important.

Male Human Wizard (Universal) 9

Well, bringing up the rear, Daurros' actions will depend on whether he can get up there and get line of sight or not. So he will hold his action to go last among his teammates (but before the undead).

Actually, Daurros hasn't seen exactly what's going on up there; with the sounds of battle and Finn's "What the blazes?", he calls out to the others in the room, "What are we facing?" As he tries to get up to the room, he mentally goes over the words and gestures necessary for his acid splash, cursing himself yet again for not having appropriate spells prepared after the response of "undead" comes back ...

Fighter Level 9

After seeing one for the first time Ardanto comments "Just look at the face: it's vacant, with a hint of sadness. Like a drunk who's lost a bet."

GM

Though the combined assaults of Guard, whisper and Finn the undead facing guard succumbs to damage, His head rolls off his body and it finn in a pile of rotten flesh and cloth. Ithaniar hold forth the symbol of his faith and shouts "By the ancestors of my people I denie you!" Energy pours forth from him in tiny ghost like elven warriors, they seem to dive into Finn who feels his wounds heal +3HP and attack the undead still standing. The undead lunges at Ardanto only to fail to prices his armor with its bit. Daurros and Forzakhad unable to clear the tunnel only hears the battle but are unable to join

Ok npced Ithaniar, Daurros and Forzakhad were unable to get out of the tunne on to round 2.

Map at the end of round 1

Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1

Finn tries to stab the remaining creature through the gap between the two warriors and only barely avoids skewering Ardanto!

"Sorry," he mumbles lamely.

Rolled a natural 1: 1d20+3=4 1d8+4=6

male Kalashtar Shaper 2

"Demons Be Damned! What the hell is going on here? Let me through, it is too dark here." Forzakhad curses, as he was cut off from the others and left in the dark about the noise in the corridor.

Fighter Level 9

Ardanto holds up the sleeve of his shirt to admire the hole ripped by Finns wayward spear thrust, "Do you think I could pass this off as a fashion statement?" he asks with a grin.

"We have a choice of two doors, which way now master Finn?"

Warforged Fighter 2 / Incarnate 4 / Ironsoul Forgemaster 3

How about slaying the second undead first?
I'm way down in the INI, to do that.

Finn goggles with amazement. "Look out behind you! That monster is still trying to eat your brains, by the gods!"

"Who? Him, Nah he just wants a cuddle," grins Ardanto.

I am a bit confused over where we are on the initiative. I'll post an attack just in case it gets to my go again before it (or me) die.

Full attack with Longsword and Hand-axe against the remaining shuffling dead. (1d20+2=16, 1d8+3=8, 1d20+2=8, 1d6+1=6)

A 16 should hit with the sword for 8 damage, but the hand-axe misses with and 8.

GM

My fault I will do a better job of showing where you are from now on. Also the room you are in all double doors hang ajar.

current round[2]
Ithaniar=13[hasnt gone]
Whisper=13[hasn't gone]
Ardanto=12[attacked]
Finn=12[missed]
Daurros=12[can not see]
Forzakhad=11[can not see]
Guard=11[hasn't gone]
Undead[hasn't gone]

Fighter Level 9

[occ]It is less likely to be your fault and more likely to be me and my random bouts of stupidity, after all I completely missed the fact that one zombie was still attacking me.[/occ]

GM

I also forgot to take the dead on off the map. Thats the one in front of guard.

Male Human Wizard (Universal) 9

Let me know if I can get within line of sight. If not, I guess I sit back and let everyone else handle it ...

GM

Ya can get by ith , His square would count as 10' not 5 but yeah ya can get past him ..see map

Male Human Wizard (Universal) 9

OK, then if I can get line-of-sight with a move action, and if the thing isn't destroyed when I get in place, I'll fire an acid splash at it.

Acid Splash, ranged touch, fire into melee (-4) (1d20-2=11) Hmmm ... since it's a ranged touch, that might have actually hit ...

damage (1d3=3)

Warforged Fighter 2 / Incarnate 4 / Ironsoul Forgemaster 3

Unless the undead is already down,
Melee attack against Undead, round 2 (1d20+4=8)
Guard tries to slice over to the second undead, but fails to hit.

Female Human (mostly) Rogue 2

With shaking hands Whisper reloads and fires again.

Ranged Attack (1d20+3=12)
Damage (1d8=4)

Fighter Level 9
Whisper. wrote:

meta-gaming, do we notice that this attack isn't very effective?

GM

Under the combined attacks the last shambling dead collapse to the floor. The group is left alone in the darkness. Two doors stand ready at each side, gaped open and barely mounted as the sit in there frames.

New map

Female Human (mostly) Rogue 2

Breathing unsteadily Whisper looks pale and leans against a wall, eyeing the doorways warily, wondering how many other undead nasties are down here.

Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1

Finn sends his lights dancing through both sets of doors and listens carefully for any more noises.

GM

Finn how many lights are ya casting. They only last 1 min so I am guessing your gonna recast it as they start to fade. 2 sphere to each side?

Male Human Wizard (Universal) 9

As we proceed, Daurros will try and keep near the middle of the group. That way, he should be able to provide spell support whichever end we get attacked from.

GM

The flickering lights move toward the rooms in the east and west. The light fades from your corridor and your left in shadowy darkness as the lights move to light up other places. To the west you now see an rotting wooden beam and a lighting reflection on what may be water. To the east you see more of the same damp brick walls and dark stone floor as here, the room looks to be larger, however it is hard to tell from where you are

Finn will cast one every 3 rounds; that should keep 3 active at any given time.

Fighter Level 9

"What is to the west? It looks like water, there might be a way out there."

Ardanto heads over to the west doors to have a closer look still gripping a weapon in each hand.

Warforged Fighter 2 / Incarnate 4 / Ironsoul Forgemaster 3

Guard keeps up with Ardanto, keeping his halberd on the ready as well.

"Good call, my friend! Since we're likely below sea level, I'd wager we may have to swim our way out. Heading to the west is likely our best bet."

Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1

Finn looks and listens carefully to ensure that no danger lies in the water.

GM

Finn give me a perception check. And I need to know distance away from the water for said check.

Ithaniar moves to the middle of the dancing lights in that room weapon drawn looking for more danger to come.

male Kalashtar Shaper 2

Forzakhad enters the corridor and looks around him. "Hm. Zombies. Good work. We should also checkout the room on the other side, too. But we should do it together." He looks to Finn, who is concentrating on his perceptive abilities. Then he waits for him to look up to the others. "And? Anything there?"

Keeper of Forbidden Lore wrote:

OK I will bite....

Cord carefully walks right to the edge of the water, he is looking for any sign of a tide pool that could indicate that this is connected to the sea.

"I don't think we are below sea level, this chamber would be flooded if we were because of the shaft we descended," he stops speaking, not quite sure how he knows that and starts studying the waters depths for a possible exit.

Perception check to study the water...... (1d20=9)

Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1

Perception from 20' away: 1d20+11=26

Female Human (mostly) Rogue 2

Whisper gives a tiny worried yelp as the men leave her behind to investigate. Moving slowly she keeps her eyes peeled, more than a little worried that something will appear and try to eat her brains at any moment.

Warforged Fighter 2 / Incarnate 4 / Ironsoul Forgemaster 3

After hearing Whispers sound of concern, the warforged stays a little closer to the small human, reassuring her that she is not alone.
