Stanislav Greymist |

Worried that the elemental might bull rush one of the casters over the side Stanislav advises Vank Keep that water thing engaged or we could loose a caster. He then fires his bow at the wounded chanter.
Longbow: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 5 + 1 = 181d8 ⇒ 4

Big OM |

Alas fortune does not favour Asmodeus chosen as Stanislav's arrow ends somewhat short of its mark while Robert's bolt is well beyond and Vank's blade is wide of the small elemental before him. The elemental retaliates and tries to push the hobgoblin, it is also however unsuccessful. Once again the bolts flie and a single one strike into Stanislav's exposed right shoulder as he tries to duck down below the railing after having targeted the chanting opponent, the rest buries themselves deeply into the wood of the Frosthamer.
Vank an AoO against the elemental please.

Next Round
Having gained enough momentum to execute a turn Odenkirk bellows: "Aye boys turn her starboard!" while forcing the steering oar. The Frosthammer slowly but surely turns towards your attackers.
Still a rough 50ft. away, you will proberly be there in two or three rounds.

Stanislav Greymist |

[ooc]An 18 misses, which means his AC is better than mine. Also if we are not within 30' then Thomas has not yet stood and thrown. [/dice]
Stanislav tries again, not changing targets.
Longbow: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 5 + 1 = 241d8 ⇒ 4

Nadine Laveau |

Nadine decides to turn her attention to the summoned elemental since they are still too far away from the tritons. Her withering stare haunts the water creature.
Evil Eye on the elemental. -2 to AC for 1 round or if it fails a DC 16 will save, for 8 rounds.

Next round's Attack: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 5 + 1 = 17 Power attack, Bless
Damage: 2d6 + 9 ⇒ (4, 2) + 9 = 15 Power attack

Big OM |

Both Robert's and Stanislav's aims are true, striking just below the waterline both attacks dig into the chest of the chanter. The impact knows the air out of him disrupting what divine ritual he was performing.
With her back against the railing Nadine unleashes her powers on the elemental and the foul magic tears the fabric of this abomination. Vank's blade slices through it easily separating what was left and it is once again only water on the deck.
With only a single standing target the crossbow bolt all fly towards a single target, Vank. While the railing catches one and another flies over him, two slams into his back piercing armour and skin alike.

Next Round
"Job's a good one," Odenkirk announces as the Frosthammer has front towards your ambushers.

Stanislav Greymist |

With little else as an option, Stanislave keeps firing.
Longbow: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 5 + 1 = 101d8 ⇒ 6
Thomas, sensing the time is right, pops up from hiding and throws his dagger.
Range Sneak Attack, flat footed enemy: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 6 + 1 = 221d4 + 2d6 ⇒ (3) + (2, 2) = 7 +2 ongoing bleed.
After the thrown he drops prone again.

Nadine Laveau |

Nadine hisses as she finds no further targets for her dark magic. She moves to Stanislav's side to aid his him. She gives a withering look at Odenkirk. "Move this barge faster, Captain!"
Cast Guidance on Stanislav.

Vank Stormfist |

Vank give a grunt as each of the arrows hit him. Looking down at Robert he nods his thanks. Then starts chanting in goblin while moving to keep the attackers in view.
Cast shield of faith and move. +2 to AC, AC=20 + any cover, Hp=29, Bless still up and running.

Big OM |

How long can Thomas throw?
While everyone is hunkered down by the railing waiting for the sailors to take you closer no bolts fly but the chanting starts once again.
Next Round
"Unless you can conjure wind this is as fast as we go!" Odenkirk retorts to Nadine while the Frosthammer is gliding slowly closer on top the calm sea, she will properly be close enugh in a couple of seconds i.e. Next round

Vank Stormfist |

The range increment of a dagger is 10ft so his max would be 50ft
Vank bends to pickup one of his javelins and shouts in goblin, obviously swearing as the ghosts of tribe knock it away. Then he moves to stand in the middle of the open area at the front of the boat waiting for the elementals to arrive.
Standard action to pick up javelin and move action to move.

Stanislav Greymist |

But sneak attack range is 30' so he would hold for that. I thought we were already within 30' feet though.
Stanislav continues to shoot at whoever is chanting.
Longbow: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 5 + 1 = 121d8 ⇒ 2

Stanislav Greymist |

No. If 30' that would be -4 to hit. If Thomas has a better range weapon, sling or Javelin, or short bow, he could use it. But I do not see one on his character sheet.

Big OM |

I am missing Robert's post this turn.
Once the Frosthammer passes within a suitable range Thomas raises from behind his cover and lets a knife fly towards the chanting enemy. It gracefully flies by merely gracing the throat causing a considerable amount of blood to mingle into the water. Stanila's arrow though aided flies well above and beyound its intended target.

Robert Findlay |

Robert lobs another shot at caster man.
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25 to hit; 1d8 ⇒ 2
"We need to eliminate these guys fast! Keep it up!"
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26 to hit; 1d8 ⇒ 5 crit confirm

Stanislav Greymist |

I am no archer. Stanislav admits as Thomas takes the round to find cover again. But you likely knew that from my shooting. he adds with a laugh ad he shoots again, this time at one of the crossbowmen.
Longbow: 1d20 + 5 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 5 + 1 + 1 = 171d8 ⇒ 5

Nadine Laveau |

Nadine hisses at the mermen as the ship comes closer. She begins casting a spell at the spellcaster. "Pox, boils, and warts!" She laughs as if the very thought is hilarious.
Cast Pox Pustules on the spellcaster. DC 17 Fort Save or be inflicted with a painful rash. Sickened and -4 to Dex. A move action to scratch furiously will relieve the sickened penalty for 1 round.

Big OM |

Finally you close in and as the Frosthammer picks up speed Robert and Thomas ends the existence of your chanting attacker. With the water breaking before the keel of the Frosthammer as it heads towards them and their leader dead the rest of you attackers dives below the surface and seeks refuges in the depths of the ocean.
Combat over unless you have other plans.
Nadine, you preserve your spell.
"A strange attack," Odenkirk remarks as he maintains control of the Frosthammer.

Stanislav Greymist |

Staislav stows his bow and retrieves his melee weapon. Indeed. He agrees. Praise the gods that no one was knocked overboard. I fear we would have lost whoever had been.

Vank Stormfist |

"Maybe examining the body will give us a clue as to why they attacked" Vank will go to side and see if the body of the leader get close enough to pull out and on to the deck.

Big OM |

The Frosthammer passes within acceptable reach and Vank is able to use a boat hook to fish the floating body out of the water. It is a scaly finned humanoid, athletic build with flippers in stead of feet. It wears some sort of sea-shell breastplate. Tucked behind this is a necklace, a holy symbol to Mitra wrought in pearls. A finely crafted trident almost sink into the deep when the body is pulled onboard, but Vank manages to secure it.

Vank Stormfist |

"Not for him, but maybe for us it will be. Looks like even the sea creatures here worship lord of light." Vank says pulling off the holy symbol.

Vank Stormfist |

"I can't see anything written, but they might have been acting on orders from the church. If so that is a worry as they might know what we are up to."

Stanislav Greymist |

True. I think it more likely that they were on patrol for any ships that might be carrying contraband and not specifically us.

Nadine Laveau |

Nadine walks over and rakes the fish corpse with her dagger, stripping scales all over the deck of the ship. She spits on the triton. "Good riddance."
Casting a quick spell, Nadine inspects the items for anything magical. "I hope we do't run into any more of his kind."
Cast Detect Magic

Vank Stormfist |

Vank passes it over. "Nothing else? Anyone want to keep a memento or want the body? If not I'll claim its liver and Kidneys, assuming it has them."

Nadine Laveau |

Robert or Vank could try their spellcraft too.
Nadine stoops to collect the scales she cut off from the triton's body. She smiles, looking at one one in the light of the ship. "Maybe a good addition, Robbie!" She glances at the pearls Odenkirk indicates and merely rolls her eyes.
"If you must. I don't want that filthy thing near me."

Vank Stormfist |

Detect magic but no spellcraft, sorry not help from us
Vank hands the pearls to the captain before removing the breastplate and cutting to its abdomen and removing the liver and kidneys. Once finished he heaves the remains over board and starts eating its inners.

Stanislav Greymist |

We've no need of such as this. Stanislav says an easily hands the the holy symbol to the captain. and turns his attention to the trident. Holding the weapon up he tests its balance. I will hold this for now if no one objects. Nadine, perhaps you can study it more tomorrow and discern its strength.

Big OM |

The smile widens as Odenkirk focuses on the pearls. Quiet happy with his price he turns to the his men. "Anchor her up, Anders you stand watch," he orders before retreating to his bedroll and sleep.
The rest of the night passes uneventfully and when the sun raises so does the sailors and begin to set sail continuing along the coast north.

Stanislav Greymist |

I think a trident is a martial weapon - Anyone else want to use it?
Stanislav works with the sailors, doing what he can to help the ship get under way. He maintains his vigil at night and takes to his shaded hammock during the day.

Big OM |

It is another weeks sailing along the eastern coast of Talingarde before a small island comes into sight on your starboard site. Odenkrik walks determinately towards you. "We are a little low on fresh water I think. We passing Seal Isle and there is a stream that feeds into the bay there. We'll take on water there. I'll send a party to the shore. of course, that means we'll spend a day in some of the richest fur sela hunting grounds all along this coast. I'm of organising a hunting expedition. Interested?" he asks.

Stanislav Greymist |

Stanislav listens to the captain. Does he 1) think we are low on fresh water? and 2) does he believe the captain?
I suspect we have players who can create water…. Also, how are we doing time wise for our mission? Would a couple days delay be a negative? I'd think so if we are being waited on. But Maybe not if we are to meet at some future date and have to kill time somewhere.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

Vank Stormfist |

Vank pulls his companions aside and talks quietly "My ancestors and I can create all the water we need, I think that hunting can wait, while fun our mission is too important to delay for no good reason."
