“The thunder is the waterfall, can you hear the laughter?

Climb down to canyon side and explore the here and after

Take the girl and keep her safe, she bakes the treats so fine

Find the words to smite her foes, and let her village shine

Then take the, wait, um, no, it was supposed to start with I wish,

Let me start over” – The Great Chant of Heroes as spoken by Good Chief Darien, moments before the pie was served

"But first! Wup wants to see if Wup can find tracks of the big stomper from last night! Who is brave enough to come with Wup?"

(Wup wishes to go see if he can find sign of the dinosaur that moved through the river to the north of camp. Unless the rest of the party talks him out of it...)

Day 2, Tuesday, turn 47

The camp is in better spirits this morning. A few pots are placed on the shouldering coals of the fire, and a hearty porridge with bits of smoky bacon, and chopped onion is prepared

The Goblins check their packs and mounts, and begin discussing the day’s plans.

The Mighty Wup scouts the bank of the river, just below the camp site, but does not stray out of site of the others. He cannot see or hear any large dinosaurs, but the tracks he finds are unmistakable. It is a four footed beast, its foot prints are two feet wide, and it was going to the north, the opposite direction that the heroes need to go this day.

Day 2, Tuesday, turn 77

It is a new day! Don’t forget to reset your “Say your right words” and “I was going to do that” counters

The air all around the party is alive with the early morning noise of the canyon floor. There are bird calls, sounds of small animals that cannot be seen as they rustle through the thick underbrush, and the barking calls of the wild Dragwombatasaurs in the distance as the males call for attention from the females.

Gobzilla:
As an expert in most natural behaviors, you know that it is mating season for the Dragwombatasaurs, and that this will mean that they will be particularly aggressive, and this makes you wonder if Ehsmaralduh has the skill she needs to control her mount

The mating calls of the Dragwombatasaurs agitate Mergatroid, and Ehsmaralduh struggles to keep her mount in line.

Your party follows the eastern canyon wall, out of sight of the river, in hope of sneaking up on the possible camp and intruders at the Mysterious Dungeon. There is a hushed silence that comes from the trepidation of heroes on the very edge of something monumental.

You stop, after a while, and have a quick snack, and drink of water, and then set out again. In a few hours time the party finds a trail that rises up along the eastern canyon wall, and then abruptly ends. It rises the party to fifty feet above the canyon floor, and there is a small cave where the trail ends. From this vantage point you can see the entrance to the Mysterious Dungeon, and it is just half a mile to the south.

The entrance is in the eastern wall of the canyon, thirty feet above the canyon floor and is reachable by a fifteen foot wide trail that ascends along the wall to the north and south of the entrance. The Entrance itself is eighty feet wide and flanked by enormous columns carved in the image of great Goblin Deities. Deep in the entrance, it is said, is the Door that is Hidden in Plain Sight.

However, the cave entrance has been blocked by a ramshackle fence constructed of poles, vines, and huge jungle foliage. The fence rises to a height of four feet. In front of the fence, on the flat elevated ledge you can see that a similarly constructed fort and additional fences are being constructed by what looks to be about fifteen or twenty Kobolds. Patrolling the trails that lead up to the entrance ledge are Alicrocabolds mounted on medium sized, four legged Dinosaur like creatures with long wide bodies, thick limbs, and short fat tails.

Knowledge Nature DC 16:
These creatures are a type of Pygmy Edmontonia, a type of Nodosaur, they are found, usually, much, much, farther to the north where the canyon is wider. They are aggressive, stupid, and have a long snout with many blunt teath

Knowledge Local DC 20:
It is said that the Alicrocobold is to the Kobold as the Troglodyte is to the Lizard man, only Alicrocobolds are fatter than their more civilized Kobold cousins

And then we wave it in the wind and make the dinies come for it, all snarling and fighting at each other. And then the kobolds and and alickybolds have to chase their dinies! Knowledge nature DC 14:
Female Dragwombatasaurs are notoriously picky in respondingNto the mating call of the male. Only when a female feels (and really who understands female Dragwombatasaurs anyway?) ready to mate will she bellow a “Gawump, Gawump, Ehyaurgggh” reply to the call of a male signaling her readiness to procreate.

I think Mergatroid is old enough to mate, but she is agitated, and restless. I don’t think she is interested in the males she can hear. Perhaps we can make some kind of horn, with a reed or something that imitates the call of a female and if we make the right noise, the males will come.

If we can get the Dragwombatasaur males to come toward those other spiny dinosaurs, will they fight?

Knowledge Nature DC 16:
Oh yes they will, both male Dragwombatasaurs and Pygmy Edmontonia are highly territorial, the Dragwombatasaurs will see the other dinosaurs as intruders, and the riders of the Edmontonia will be hard pressed to control their mounts. Oh, and this is because a Male Dragwombatasaur is half again larger than a Pygmy Edmontonia

Adding Hippo meat will just make the Dino's even more aggressive, as Dragwombatasaurs are carnivorous and Edmontonia hate the smell of meat. Also adding "Scent" from Mergatroid will increase the DC of the Handle Animal Check, or Riding Skill Check the enemy riders will need to make to control their mounts. Day 2, Tuesday, turn 80

With Ehsmaralduh’s help, holding her young Dragwombatasaur, Fluuk and Gobzilla go to work, each taking a turn soothing the beast and then drawing the thin smelly liquid from her scent glands.

Fluuk sniffs around the, ahem, sensitive area and using his keen sense of smell identifies the glands that will produce the best of the extracted liquid.

When they are finished, Gobzilla harvests a few special leaves known to have no discernible scent of their own but that absorbs the smells of other things and traps those smells. Grinding the leaves into a paste, Gobzilla is able to create a sticky goo-like substance that has the heady aroma of a young female Dragwombatasaur.

Gemdar tenderizes the few chunks of hippo meat he has been saving, prompting Penny to ask, rather innocently

Where did you get the hippo meat, if we didn’t kill any hippos?[b]

To which Gemdar only smiles, and places one finger against his nose while he winks, saying, [b]A great chef never reveals his secrets

Tabaaac and Wup keep watch, always observing the movements of the enemies, and hissing out warnings for everyone to stay low, and out of sight, whenever it looks like the Kobolds or Alicrocobolds might be looking this way.

Ul Skub scouts out away from the Goblin camp, looking for signs of the passing of other Dragwombatasaurs and finds a trail not too far away.

Gemdar, Fluuk, and Gobzilla prepare the “tainted” meat, and when all is ready the party sets out to follow the trail. Ehsmaralduh remains behind, at the cave, with Penny, so as to not put Mergatroid in harm’s way.

Finally the male Dragwombatasaurs are spotted, and they quickly catch the scent. Half a dozen young male Dragwombatasuars, and two mature Bulls, begin following the Goblins, curious as to why they can smell a female, but cannot see one.

The Goblins lead the Dragwombatasuars toward the clearing below the ledge.

Now, someone, someone who can move fast, must make a Ride Skill Check, DC 14, to dart into the clearing and lob the meat as far into the Kobold camp as they can. A failure by 5 or more means the meat is deployed, but the Volunteer rider is trapped between the Charging Dragwombatasuars and the Alicrocobolds.

Before the mission starts, the quick and nimble but also mighty Gobzilla volunteers to throw the meat. Remembering his experiences with the hippos, he leaves his dragon suit hide armor with the ladies and opts to make the run wearing just his pants.

Things do not seem to do so well at first. For a moment, it looks like Gobzilla is about to be pinned between the two groups of enemies. However, like many goblins in time of crisis, he begins to chant.

"As the Greatest Goblin Druid,
"Gobzilla moves like fluid!
"Across the trail,
"With dinos on his tail,
"With this meat to lob,
"Now runs the Gob!
"Watch him soar!"
"Watch him ROAR!"

Somehow, Gobzilla seems to inspire himself to accomplish the impossible. He quickly pulls ahead of the Dragwombatasaurs with a sudden burst of speed, tosses the meat into the Alicrocobolds' camp with all his might, and then dashes away like speeding bullet from the ensuing chaos before anything notices him.

Before the group looks for the Dragwombatasaurs, Gobzilla leaves his hide armor with the ladies so that it doesn't hamper him. Invoking "Say Your Right Words!"

Day 2, Tuesday, turn 83

Gobzilla rides into the clearing below the entrance to the Mysterious Dungeon followed by the herd of male Dragwombatasaurs. He darts left and right, scanning for the optimal place to toss the smelly meat. Just as he is about to be cornered, he spots a flat rise on the trail leading out of the clearing toward the Mysterious Dungeon, flings the meat, and turns his mount in place and spurs Allosaurus to great speed. Tabaaac, running with all he’s got, follows closely behind the stampeding Dragwombatasaurs, and when he is within range, he uses a simple cantrip to make it sound as if a female Dragwombatasaur is somewhere high up the trail, then he too disappears into the jungle.

The startled kobolds and Alicrocobolds fly into a rage at the impudence of these intruders but before they can organize themselves into a counter attack, the Alicrocobolds who are mounted and racing down the trail to attack find themselves confronted by six or more charging Dragwombatasaurs. The Edmontonias rear back, and below in fear. Some of the dinosaurs begin leaping off of the trail into the foliage below, throwing their riders, while others turn tail and rush headlong back toward the Kobold fortifications, trampling the makeshift walls beneath their clumsy and fat feet. Kobolds are sent running for their lives, and pandemonium ensues.

Minutes pass as the Dragwombatasaurs stampede through the makeshift fort, chasing the Edmontonias down the opposite trail, and to the south.

And then...

All seems quiet.

Day 2, Tuesday, turn 83

Gobzilla spurs his mount back to the cave, and quickly helps Ehsmaralduh replace the saddle on Mergatroid. Then the three set off to join the others at the ruined Kobold Fort.

Tabaaac, Fluuk, Wup, Gemdar, and Ul Skub spread out and comb over the ruins of the fort. They find several broken spears, and some broken bows and arrows, a few make shift cots, some wooden bowls, and some collected supplies of fresh fruit, nuts and berries, all trampled by the fleeing dinosaurs or their pursuers.

They find nothing of value, to a Goblin.

Standing at the mouth of the cave the group can see the tall doors of the Mysterious Dungeon, barely visible in the shadows, fifty or sixty feet back from the makeshift wall erected by the Kobolds across the opening of the cave.

The doors are made of stone, carved with images of Goblin heroes fighting Dragons, or Giants, or casting powerful spells. Each door is fifteen feet tall and five feet wide, making the pair of doors ten feet wide in total.

Suddenly, four Kobolds and two Alicrocobolds, mounted on pygmy Edmontonias come crashing through the foliage of the wall, shouting war cries they rush into battle against the Goblins
