Still waiting on someone to take their turn?
| GM Cellion |
Just Kargas since he needed to roll his attack. In any case I can bot that part:
Kargas swings in for another power attack.
Kargas pow atk, bless: 1d20 + 8 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 8 - 1 + 1 = 12 Damage: 2d4 + 5 + 3 ⇒ (3, 2) + 5 + 3 = 13
Unfortunately the beastman manages to deflect the attack with his flail.
---
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
--
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Rig conjures up a layer of grease to coat the ground underneath the beastman and two of the goblins. The beastman holds strong on his feet, but the goblin maiden directly behind him (green) slips on the grease and falls to the ground in a tangle of moth-eaten fabric. Greased area is included in yellow. At the same time, an arrow from Colvyn sails over the enemies' heads.
The beastman grunts out "GUUUURHHHARRRRH!" as he delivers a vicious swing of his flail at Kargas. For a moment, the blow looks like its about to hit the bloodrager in the head, but he manages to deflect it just enough that it strikes his arm instead. (Crit threat didn't confirm. Still deals 15 points bludgeoning damage)
The two goblin maidens that aren't unconscious or face down on the greasy floor continue tossing junk in your direction. But this time round the spoons and ratty 'pillows' are harmless.

Seeing Kargas take another strong hit, Guiness quickly says, "Strike and Shift!" to him.
Guiness' hopes Kargas understands this to mean attack, then shift out of the way so Guiness can step over and take the brunt of the brute's attack.
In any case, Guiness will attack this round after Kargas goes, either shifting 5 feet east and getting a clear shot on the brute, or staying where he is and taking a shot against the brute around the hard corner (some kind of cover bonus to AC, right?).
Dragonfist Attack with Bless: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 8 + 1 = 10 (+1 more to hit if brute is a goblinoid)

Gritting his teeth through the pain, even with Rig's healing Kargas lashes his blade at his adversary's belly, then heeds the dwarf's advise and steps away.

but ices the doorframe instead.
----
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
While healing magic streams in to keep Kargas away from the brink of unconsciousness, he delivers a powerful blow of his blade that cuts deep into the creature's belly. Blood pours from the open wound but the beastman growls in defiance. Guiness steps in to finish the creature off, but he's not able to land a blow despite his familiarity with fighting such foes.
The beastman holds one meaty hand up to his belly, trying to hold the wound closed, and swings his flail with the other, bludgeoning Guiness in a weak section of his armor. (Dealing 14 points of bludgeoning) He bellows with triumph. But his excitement is cut short as the bellow brings up a mass of blood. He staggers for a moment, choking, and then collapses to the ground. (He was at 0 HP exactly)
The moment he falls, the goblin 'maidens' begin cowering in the back of the room.

Up to you. They don't seem to be attacking you this round, though they did throw things at your team in earlier rounds.

Anyone have a strong opinion on what to do with the ‘maidens’? Otherwise, Guiness will likely keep attacking...
| Kargas Stormscar |
Kargas grunts his thanks to Rig and Flor for the healing, panting and glaring at the hulking goblinoid's corpse. Jutting his chin towards the cowering goblins, he asks the group, "And them?"
End rage, going to hold a moment for the Fatigue to end and maybe some more healing.

Pulling up short from his intended course of stepping into the room and continuing the fight, Guiness shakes his head to clear it from the massive hit he just took from the brute. Instead, he readies an action to step forward and strike a goblin if they continue to attack.
| Floredana Mandulescu |
With what appears to be a pause in the fighting, Flo takes advantage of it to heal more of Kargas' wounds. "I mean... We did kill the sleeping goblins... I must admit it is harder since they are awake and not fighting back, but I think in this moment we have to kill the goblins we can for Sandpoint. I'd normally advise mercy, but we already know what these goblins can and will do," she explains. Desna forgive me... But they have attacked our home and there are plenty of travelers in their larder. The roads will be safer with their deaths.

If Rig can dismiss the grease, there is a much better chance of Guiness remaining upright when he enters the goblin room...Even with Dwarven Stability, his ACP is pretty bad...
| GM Cellion |
While you hold back from attacking them, they hold back from attacking you, but they're watching the group of you warily. The one that had slipped in the grease scrabbles to her feet and packs to the back of the room, while the unconscious one continues twitching slightly as she slowly recovers from the color spray.

"You are right, of course, Floredana," responds Guiness. "I am not committing genocide versus all goblins, but merely executing the ones involved in the raid on Sandpoint and stocking that bloody larder!"
With a grim expression, Guiness moves forward carefully into the room, hammer at the ready.

It is. Thank you, Rig.
| GM Cellion |
The grease puddle vanishes and Guiness advances into melee range, bringing his hammer down on the nearest of the goblins. That single deft blow is enough to partially cave a face in and send a goblin right into unconsciousness (Red is dead). The remaining goblins begin screaming at the top of their lungs.
"EEEEEEIIIIYAHHH! LONGSHANKS KILLED BRUTY!"
Their voices echo through the halls...
...and are answered by a gravely male voice shouting in common. "Shut up harpies!" Those in the larger room hear that the voice is coming from the central southern corridor.

From the central southern doorway you hear a muffled voice calling out. "You're the reason why the goblins up top quieted down last night, aren't you?" He snorts "And here I thought I was going to get paid to just sit back and relax all day."
"Feel free to flee. I'd rather not kill any of you if I don't have to."

Guiness knocks the last conscious goblin into silence, leaving only the one still unconscious due to the color spray earlier. When Kargas mocks the individual behind the door, he's just greeted by a good natured laugh. "Hells, I haven't heard people talk like that since I was a kid! That dinky little town sending children to solve their goblin problems these days? Now you're really going to make me feel guilty."
The door doesn't open, leaving you standing there tensed up with no release.
You're welcome to try something different, but he's obviously wised up to your current tactic. Feel free to back it up with a skill roll if you think one would be appropriate.
With no conscious/active combatants, we're effectively out of initiative right now.

With a heavy sigh, Guiness finishes the grim task, killing the last goblin in the room. He then exits the small room to assess the situation in the larger room.
"Is there someone behind that door that wants to attack us? There seems to be an unusual amount of conversation going on instead of fighting..."
Tuning to Floredana, Guiness whispers, "If you can give me a bit of healing, I will open up the door."

Sigh. It is even affecting Floredana.
"Perhaps the set of double doors to the north?" he suggests.

Kargas is like, 18. Sometimes he can't help himself.
Chuckling, Kargas nods in agreement with Kellek. "Yeah, let's go that way."
If the others agree and move through the door the half-orc slowly backs away from the door, ready to charge if their unseen foe attempts to pursue them through the doorway.

”Wha...what?” says Guiness, incredulously. ”We literally just finished fighting a battle where we were attacked from behind because we bypassed an enemy, and now you want to do it again?”. Take 10 for a 16 on Profession/Soldier.

"Dwarf. If he wants to fight us there, then we don't want to fight him there--engaging an enemy on ground they like is stupid. Now come on."
If he follows us out of that doorway more of us can get at him at once. We have three melee people, might as well try to use them.
Brother_Guiness
|
”This whole island is enemy territory, Half-Orc,”, retorts Guiness, ”and leaving an active enemy at our back is more than just stupid, it shows no intelligence at all.”

Then suddenly, incongruously, Guiness winks!
Motioning the others to back up and set up for readied ranged attacks, he again approaches the door from the side. One people are set, he adds, ”And if you don’t charge in right now and wrestle your enemy to the ground, I call YOU a Coward!”

Brother_Guiness
|
Who is Guiness talking to?
Guiness is talking to Kargas. He is trying to make the enemy think you are about to rush in and attack, while instead we are setting up a ranged ambush once the door is open. Of course, others may not go along, and it seems Colvyn is already taking another approach...
| GM Cellion |
The mercenary's general amusement at the argument happening on the party's side of the door is cut short at Colvyn's suggestion. "I'll be honest with you, Nualia pays well, but that's about all that's been keeping me here guarding her den. The girl creeps me the hell out with her f@@$ing demon arm, or whatever that thing is. More than a little unhinged too."
"How about this: I'm all set to finish my stint in a few days, have a final bonus lined up too. If you can match that I'll stay out of your way."
| Rig Veda |
Rig liked where Guiness was steering things, but he liked Colvyn's idea even more. He jingles his coin pouch like a tambourine. Greed was a motivation he had grown very familiar with in his travels.
