Laurana approached Flo, "I wanted to apologize for not recognizing you earlier. I get excited sometimes and lose myself a bit. Let me formally greet you. I am a Laurana Kanan, I work with Master Quink." At that, she looks like she just remembered something. She turns and quickly moves to the south before turning around just as quick, "I'm sorry, I need to check on Master Quink and my parents. I will see you all later tonight at the inn?"

Flo suppresses a smile as she catches sight of Shayliss while Rig greets her so formally. Oh my, looks like somebody has fallen for a big strong hero!

"No problem Laurana, it was a difficult situation! I shouldn't have snapped at you. I wor-" but before she can finish her sentence, the woman jets off to the south. Excitable, but hopefully I'll be seeing more of her!

"Father, do goblins have a history of raiding with such tact?" I'm no goblin expert, but the buffoons we just fought wanted to eat metal more than fighting us.

"I'll help Father Zantus with managing the Cathedral, but the Rusted Dragon for dinner and fun sounds wonderful Cade!"

Once the battle is over, Colvyn feels the rush of the fight leave him. He surveys the battlefield and feel happy that no one died. He then walks toward the rest of the group. He gets there just as the blue woman asks for their name. Turning toward her, present a small hand. "Hi. My name is Colvyn Dashtail, people usually call me Slick. What are you?" Arghhh, why did you just ask that!! Not the best way to make a first impression... He stays quiet as he hear the rest of the conversation and then look at part of the group leaving in different directions. Pulling his hood back up, he waits to see what the rest of the group will do.

That was a lot of posting over the weekend!

Revival of the Runelords Slideshow

The party begins making their way back to the market square in the company of Father Zantus and his acolyte, Shayliss Vinder, and her cousin Girard. The two guardsmen are still here, having dispatched any goblins that were not quite dead.

The square seems relatively quiet now, but when the group is partway across the square, shouting and screams can be heard from the northeast, along with the frantic barking of a dog and calls for help from a man. In the distance you can make out a wagon burning and some figures running.

At the sound, Father Zantus slumps, looking exhausted. He looks back at the party.

"That sounds like it is coming from the north gate," he says.

"I know you have given a great deal already. But apparently there is more bloody work to be done. We would be in your debt if you could investigate and deal with any goblins that are still up that way."

"Send anyone in need of healing to the cathedral. We will take care of them."

He sighs, and then motions to Shayliss and Girard. "Come on. Better get you indoors."

Zantus, his acolyte, Shayliss, and Girard all head for the main doors of the cathedral. He looks back at the adventurers. "Desna be with you."

Revival of the Runelords Slideshow

To keep things moving, I'm going to go ahead and assume that the party rushes up the street towards the sounds, rather than waiting to see what you want to do. If anyone doesn't plan on heading to the north gate, let me know what you want to do.

The party runs towards the sounds and quickly reaches the square in front of the north gate.

Up near the gate entrance, a wagon is burning. Lying on the ground are the bodies of three guardsmen, and a fourth is slumped over the battlements. All the bodies are pierced by many arrows. Most of the arrows seem to have come from behind.

Two groups of goblins can be seen cowering behind some wagons. They watch in fear as a goblin mounted on some kind of animal does battle with a large dog.

The dog seems to be protecting his owner, a well-dressed and handsome man who looks to be about 30. The man is lying on his back behind a wagon that is wedged up against the White Deer Inn, and his legs look to be covered with some kind of black goo.

Just as the group arrives, the dog is cut down by the goblin "knight," who is wielding a large polearm. The goblins hiding behind the wagons cheer, and begin to come out of hiding.

You did it right. Like an attack though, you won't know whether the spell "hit" until I post with the results, since you don't know the AC (or in this case, the RC) of the monster.

Rig throws a spell at the knight and his mount. The creature slips a moment, but remains on its feet.

Rig: the 10' square that grease creates must be centered on an intersection between squares, so that it affects a specific four squares. Presumably the intersection will be at one corner of the square the knight is in. But you need to specify which intersection, since I can't tell based on the square you placed. If I don't hear from you I will roll a d4.

Ride: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25

Laurana shoots an arrow at the goblin knight's mount. But the goblin sees her draw her bow, and flicks the reins, trying to get the mount to move out of the way. The mount turns aside at the last moment, and the arrow flies past.

Floredana gets in position, ready to strike with her starknife.

Colvyn moves up and charges his bow with magical energy.
I've been wondering when you would use that.

The goblins behind the nearby wagon cheer. "Doggie is dead! Now time for Longshanks! No doggie to protect you now!"

yellow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 111d4 ⇒ 1

One goes around the far end of the wagon. "What is that? Hey blue girl! You blue on inside too? Let's see!" He shoots an arrow at Floredana. The arrow flies overhead, easily missing.

green: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 - 4 = 31d4 ⇒ 4

Another goblin hunches down and walks under the wagon, and shoots from under the near side. But his bow gets fouled by the wagon overhead; it is hard to tell who he was even shooting at.
FYI the green goblin has cover from the wagon, but is also squeezed by the small space. His AC remains what it normally is. He doesn't know that though.

blue: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 211d4 ⇒ 1

At 1st level, when an opponent makes a melee attack against the swashbuckler, she can spend 1 panache point and expend a use of an attack of opportunity to attempt to parry that attack. The swashbuckler makes an attack roll as if she were making an attack of opportunity; for each size category the attacking creature is larger than the swashbuckler, the swashbuckler takes a –2 penalty on this roll. If her result is greater than the attacking creature's result, the creature's attack automatically misses. The swashbuckler must declare the use of this ability after the creature's attack is announced, but before its attack roll is made. Upon performing a successful parry and if she has at least 1 panache point, the swashbuckler can as an immediate action make an attack against the creature whose attack she parried, provided that creature is within her reach. This deed's cost cannot be reduced by any ability or effect that reduces the number of panache points a deed costs.

If YES:

Cade senses the presence of someone behind him and turns forcing the blade up and out wide.
A)Parry his attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
Oh you did not just try to stab me in the back you daft cow. That was wonky! Now about your arm. This may hurt a bit.
As Cade's small rapier continues to push the Dogslicer up and away from his body, he lets his weapon rotate under the blade and drive down into the arm of his opponent.
B)Riposte Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
1)Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

--Cades action on his turn--
Cade sees that his opponent did not like that too much decides to end this little dance quickly.

C)Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24

If NO:

--Cades action on his turn--
Cade steps forward away from the strike that took him unawares from behind.
He feels the pain and tries to not let it show that he is badly injured.
Ouch! What the heck is wrong with you goblins. What did my shirt ever do to you. I mean come on this is silk....

I had a crit that may or may not have been confirmed...Can you tell me if I did or not..this how I regain Panache Points..I have one left and just confirm a crit on my last post which would place me at 2. If the crit on may 10 is confirmed I would have 3 left.

"GOBLIN BALLISTA TEAM... READY!!!" Good one!!

They'd be much better off just using their shortbows. But it's a GIANT CROSSBOW! WE MUST USE IT!!! :)

Cade shoots the "supporting" goblin in the chest. There is a look of surprise, and then the goblin collapses, dropping the heavy crossbow with a clatter. "QUICK! REPAIR THE BALLISTA!!" One of the goblins in the wagon shouts.

The goblin at the far end of the wagon also takes a shot at Kargas. "No, I get de orc!" His shot hits Kargas in the chest!

Not sure if this would work or not.

You were flat-footed to the goblin because you weren't aware of him until he attacked. I made perception checks; only Floredana made the check. Since flat-footed creatures can't make attacks of opportunity either, I'm going to say the parry doesn't work for the same reason.

So this means you just make a regular attack, and it is a confirmed critical.

Cade turns around and thrusts; his rapier runs through the goblin's abdomen. "Hah! Halfling's shirt need more red! It's too - urk!" the goblin says as Cade strikes him. "Uh... little help over here!" he shouts.

The goblins at the far wagon "reassemble" their ballista. The one in front picks it up and balances it on her head, while the one in the back begins reloading. If you hadn't killed one of them they would have reloaded and fired again this round.

Kargas Stormscar wrote:

The goblin knight fell off the dog and has not re-mounted it yet. So you are attacking the dog.

However, this attack is not a charge. In order to charge you must move directly towards the enemy, and cannot attack him from the side. I have drawn a line from the center of your starting square to the center of the dog's square, which is the charge path. As you can see, a charge attack would have put you in the grease. So I'll resolve this without the charge modifiers, as you could get to your square in a normal move.

Kargas rushes at the dog, babbling madly. With one slash he downs the dog in a splash of blood.

"Bobo!" shouts the goblin knight, tears running down his cheeks. "You pay for that, orc! Get the orc! Get the orc!"
