Nox feels as if everything in this land is trapped and is acting a bit twitchy. Even her cape seems to jump at shadows. "Stable, lodge, or one of those other structures? I believe most would choose the lodge, seeing as there is a fire there. But we've already deduced that our foe is clearly not attracted to warmth."

Ulric looks at the lodge with slitted eyes. "I doubt what we find there will be friendly, it doesn't look under siege and I doubt our foe just let it be" narrowing his eyes at the bridge, he continues "I mislike that bridge, looks like a place for an ambush, we best have care crossing."

"I've no problem investigating outbuildings, but that lodge is clearly occupied. If we don't investigate it first, we need to be very careful how we move and about any sound we make." He lets his eyes wander the scene again in quiet, letting the crisp silence of wintry air fall over the scene. This all seems so familiar. Not this place, no, but this... feel.

"I'm going to take a quick look, if nothing else, make sure that the path forward is safe. Whatever we're following expected to be followed. I'd rather not be surprised by any more traps."

Nox nods at Tchort's assessment. "It didn't occur to me that we might be mistaken for thieves. Perhaps we should introduce ourselves at the lodge. Though I see no harm in simply taking a look into the stables."

Tchort quickly puts his hands out, stopping his companions from moving any further. "There is a tripwire here. I don't know yet what it will do. Avoid it! It's can't be for good." He shakes his head. "We are definitely expected. Maybe not us specifically, but they expected someone to follow. Maybe even wanted it. Be careful."

He picks his way along the tripwire, looking for one of the ends, and makes an attempt to disarm it.

When Tchort clears the trap Ulric readies his weapon and shield as they move on.

"I agree with Ulric. Whoever is responsible for this trap may not be in the cabin, but someone is in there and knows what is going on."

Ylosani hangs back as the party proceeds. He needs to keep some distance to effectively use his bow. He'll move up when it comes time to breach the lodge.

Satisfied that the trap is disabled (what did the tripwire do?), Tchort slowly, cautiously continued to creep forward.

I need to get better at being quiet out here. We all do. Too many snapped twigs and rustled branches on the way here. These fey are tricksy; we need to be able to be tricksier.

He stepped up onto the front porch of the lodge. Crouching down below the window frame, he peered up into the main room of the lodge, ready to snap his head down if he thinks he could be seen.

Tchort cautiously follows his companions around the lodge to the other door. He attempts to check it for traps as well, then tests it to see if it is locked. He's not opening it yet, just checking.

After checking the door, he examines the windows to either side, checking to see what's inside those rooms.

FYI, Tchort's stealth is just as bad as everyone else's (+2). Grindahl was our Stealth master; we appear to have lost that. Tchort will definitely be putting ranks in it moving forward though, as we clearly need to be better at it.

North window: A large fireplace takes up most of the north wall of this room, its radiant heat providing palpable relief from the cold weather outside. Cabinets and shelves line the remaining wall space, and four windows look out on the wintry landscape surrounding the lodge. and a single person in the kitchen who notices Tchort.

South Window: an empty bedroom

Tchort takes a gamble, and lifts his finger to his lips in the universal sign for silence as he makes eye contact with the person inside. He then steps backwards, out of view of the window, both making room for the door to open and trying to alert his companions to the fact that the door is about to open.

He draws the string of the Bow of the Southern Winds until the weapon freaks and his arms burn slightly with the effort. He aims at chest level at the door and readies to let fly when someone comes through.

Probably ran in there and accidentally murdered some poor farmer and his wife, we're so on edge I'd blast a sparrow if it flew by.

Tchort calls out "Stand down! We seek the Lady Argentae. We have been beset by tricksy fey all the day; we have no patience and little trust. He stands ready to strike, waiting to see what the inhabitants of the lodge will do.

"It seems we have reached something of an impasse," Ylosani quietly comments.

"Let us see if we cannot break it with the proper amount of force and knocking..."

He rapidly searches through the resonances within the Bow of the Southern Winds, scanning scenes of doors being broken. Most of them are raiders attacking but a few...

A small smile comes to his face as he steps behind Orladan and places a hand lightly on her shoulder. He channels some of the power of the old elven allies, the Treants, into her. While she won't grow bark or leaves, she will grow bigger and stronger.

Ylosani is expending a point of focus to cast Enlarge Person on Orladan. It only lasts one round but hopefully she can knock the door in in that amount of time.

Embiggened details:
The target gains a +2 size bonus to Strength, a –2 size penalty to Dexterity (to a minimum of 1), and a –1 penalty on attack rolls and AC due to its increased size.
