For the discussions!

Female Human Level 4 | HP: 74/74 | AC: 27, T: 20, FF: 18 | Fort: +11, Ref: +13, Will: +13 | CMB: +7, CMD: 26 | Init: +14, Perception: +11 |

I arrive! There may have been some plots thwarted/destroyed along the way, but I will keep mum on that.

M Human

Whew long weekend.

As for why you're here I'd say mostly to investigate rumors of malicious fey in the forest. People disappearing from town, or dying of strange causes in the woods.

Female Human Level 4 | HP: 74/74 | AC: 27, T: 20, FF: 18 | Fort: +11, Ref: +13, Will: +13 | CMB: +7, CMD: 26 | Init: +14, Perception: +11 |

That's definitely a workable plan. Fey are always fairly interesting to deal with. XD

Female Human Level 4 | HP: 74/74 | AC: 27, T: 20, FF: 18 | Fort: +11, Ref: +13, Will: +13 | CMB: +7, CMD: 26 | Init: +14, Perception: +11 |

*Rubs hands together*

All right, then. ^^ What sort of game do you want to play?

M Human

I have several ideas.

My first and most thought out idea would be to play a powerful character. Basically, I really enjoy Greek mythology and things like Hercules and the gods and what not. And I would like to play in a game where I could use the most ridiculous templates and single handedly fight titans and hydras and the like. Basically be a big ol' hero but have a higher frame of mind, be God minded as far as power is concerned, not mortal minded.

Another Idea I had was to do a sort of Way of the Wicked thing with only one person and not set in Talingarde necessarily. Likely antipaladin and lich, trying to build a dark kingdom.

Another thought I had was to do a stealth based game as an Assassin.

Female Human Level 4 | HP: 74/74 | AC: 27, T: 20, FF: 18 | Fort: +11, Ref: +13, Will: +13 | CMB: +7, CMD: 26 | Init: +14, Perception: +11 |

*Rubs chin*

Are you familiar with the Mutants and Masterminds system? I've been pondering some kind of hybrid of that and Pathfinder to add customized superpowers to Golarion. That might be a good way of pulling off a mythological character. (Well, that and being a Godling. XD)

Obviously, some things wouldn't be appropriate, but you could definitely start looking at great feats of strength and durability and such.

M Human

I'm not familiar. As for feats of strength, are those on PRD? I was thinking Mighty Godling//Fighter... Or maybe Bloodrager//Slayer//Warpriest

With Mighty, Half-celestial templates, eventually gaining instrument of the gods, later on.

Mythic path would be Champion.

*Switches to GM mode*

My main concern is still being able to challenge you. XD After all, games tend to stop being fun if there's basically nothing that can really hurt you.

...Actually, such a game might wind up with a small number of elite enemies and a lot of roleplaying and social situations. Is that the kind of game you're looking for, or...?

M Human

I like the idea of being very powerful to start. Maybe Gestalt, only 15 years old with half celestial, no mythic yet. But gaining templates/Mythic tiers. Basically, (If this is the campaign we choose) I'd like to be able to eventually fight single handedly the things that are meant to pose a threat to a high level party.

There is also the possibility of deific interference. If I'm the offspring of a particular God or ephyreal lord, other deities and avatars of said gods may mess with me and maneuver against me.

If high powered isn't your style or cramps RP, we can tone it back and I can try the assassin one or conquest one. I like the Idea of conquest but might change it more to the unassuming tyrant kind of idea. Basically, start as a soldier taking orders, and eventually becoming an harsh tyrant of a nation we forge through the entire campaign. These campaigns lend themselves to more traditional enemies, and social intrigue and character development.

*Glances at Rose's build* Solo things you'd normally take a party against I can do. XD My main games here on the forum are literally about fallen deities trying to regain their power, and include (limited) access to actual divine abilities.

Basically, I just need to make sure I can challenge you somehow (since, in general, challenges are what make the game fun). Challenges don't HAVE to be combat, though... I could probably come up with some social/political things, too.

M Human

I basically thought, since it's just me, I don't have to worry about outshining anyone and It would be cool.

Basically, the tyrant one and this one are the same, the tyrant one is just a little less op and a lot more adult and gritty. Not to say that the one based on greek mythology won't be adult, I always just felt that even the violence in greek mythology is sexy. See God of War, or 300.

M Human

Hey Rednal, Feel free to pursue anyone of those things I posted previously as being on the board.

I have a long weekend here for my birthday. I should be able to post as usual tomorrow, but generally have slow weekends due to friends and RL Pathfinder.

If you've given any more thought on which type of game you'd like to run for me let me know.

Female Human Level 4 | HP: 74/74 | AC: 27, T: 20, FF: 18 | Fort: +11, Ref: +13, Will: +13 | CMB: +7, CMD: 26 | Init: +14, Perception: +11 |

Well, Rose is going to check out the board now, since that sounds like what she'd be most interested in. XD

*Taps chin*

All right, after thinking it over this weekend, I found that I'm not really comfortable with doing the high-power Greek one. It's not the level of power that bothers, me, actually - as you may have noticed by looking at Rose or any of my Forgotten God games, strong characters I can do. I'm just not quite sure I could run the kind of game you seem to be looking for there.

I can, however, do a Way of the Wicked game. XD Probably stick pretty close to the book on that one, with a few changes here and there to accommodate the changes needed for solo campaigns. What rules are you thinking of using? Something similar to what Rose has, or...?

(Personally, I recommend at least sticking with the suggested class spread - one full caster, one non/low caster [Antipaladin qualifies, I believe], and one anything-but-full-caster. This helps naturally encourage character builds that can adapt to various situations, and adaptability tends to be far more useful than being insanely good at stabbing things.)

M Human

That sounds great. I would be quite interested in trying the recharging magic rules that Rose runs. I'll check out some different build ideas, but I'll probably go Wizard or Cleric or Oracle(All necromancer) // Anti Paladin// ???? Taps chin as well. I'll think about it.

M Human

Ok I think, Necromancer//Anti-Paladin//Warlord(Black Seraph)
Champion//Archmage Dual Path
Might be the build I go with.

I would like to use recharge rules and get extra feats.

Suggested Point buy for this character?

Templates at start? It'd be cool to eventually be a lich or possessed or something.

Hmm... planning on the Lord of Darkness archetype as an Antipaladin? And Necromancer as in a specialized Wizard? Always helps to double-check, given how much material is out there. XD Asmodeus is lawful evil, and I will be expecting your character to conform to that. Contracts are important and not to be broken, smooth-talking (but not actually lying), etc. - think of silver-tongued devils.

I would say no on being a Lich at the start, but mostly because Way of the Wicked has an integrated feat system for that (you can pick it up when you can start casting 5th level spells, so about halfway through the campaign, and then start getting bonuses to improve it with your spare feats). Note that you'll lose your Constitution score then, so it's probably best to avoid investing too many resources into that.

Mythic won't be there right at the start, but will probably occur when you make a certain deal in the campaign. If there's anything special you want in terms of equipment, let me know and I'll see what I can do. (I have lots of resources for that. XD It could be something relatively straightforward like Rose's gun, or more complex like a scaling item granting new spells at various levels... or Legacy items. I have *lots* of resources, and I've always been fond of characters having at least one iconic item).

30 Point buy. The caveat is that I'm expecting you to have at least 12 points in everything, and to try and spread your stats around rather than specializing in one or two. Trust me, this WILL help. XD I speak from experience.

M Human

Yep Wizard, and I think I'll switch Warlord for Slayer(Executioner) Seems more solo-y and rounded. And makes me need every stat pretty heavily with an exception being maybe a little less dex and wisdom, but still.

As for a cool item. I thought of something like a Dark Gemstone "The Heart of Darkness" or "The Eye of Groetus" or something like that.

Also cool would be to have and artifact like a helmet from the Whispering Tyrant. Could be a scaling artifact that grew with me, or was intelligent and melds slowly with my conscience , Like the Lich king in WoW or something.

Should I start at 1st level and is it 1-1 buy?

Asmodeus might have a few choice words about a follower using something of Groetus'. XD They don't exactly get along. A dark gemstone I can do, however. Gimme a bit and I'll come up with the base, and we can decide from there what to attach to it.

For point buy, mmm... actually, how about 24 points on a 1-1 buy, starting from 12? No stat above 18 before racial. That's the same rule Rose is using, and should end up with something pretty well-balanced.

All right, here's my first thoughts on an item. XD This would be something acquired by taking the Legendary Item ability, by the way, possibly when you first go Mythic.

Spoiler:
Fluff:
This fist-sized, pitch-black gem is believed to have been created in the heart of Phlegethon by Belial himself - though the Pale Kiss usually prefers flesh to forge, the demands of Asmodeus are not lightly ignored. When implanted into the chest of a servant of Asmodeus, Hell's Heart begins fusing with the creature and grants it a number of rather useful abilities...

HELL'S HEART
Slot: None
CL: 20th
Weight: 5 lbs
Aura: Strong varied (This aura is only detectable by followers of Asmodeus)

Description
When pushed into the body of one who has sworn themselves to Asmodeus, Hell's Heart literally replaces their existing heart. While this has minimal direct effect - it continues to pump blood throughout their body as a normal heart would, though it does provide complete immunity to effects that would normally target or destroy the heart - its real powers are seen in the infernal energies that begin to infuse the user's body. Starting at Level 5, Hell's Heart begins to grant a number of magical effects to the user. In addition, the user of this item gains a +4 untyped bonus on saves against effects created by servants of Asmodeus (devils, priests, etc.). Though normally concealed by an illusion of skin, the user can willingly drop the illusion in order to show the implanted heart.

Abilities:
5th: Comprehend Languages (Su): You continually understand all spoken and written languages, as if continually affected by the comprehend languages spell. (CL 5th)

6th: Metamagic, Lesser (Su): You can apply the effect of one metamagic feat to up to three spells per day that you cast of up to 3rd level. This can be any metamagic feat that normally adjusts a spell’s slot by one level (such as Enlarge Spell, Extend Spell, or Silent Spell); choose the specific feat when assigning this ability to the item. Using this legacy ability does not change the spell slot of the altered spell. A spontaneous spellcaster (such as a sorcerer) must still take a full-round action when using this ability, just as if using a metamagic feat he possessed. [Your Choice of Metamagic Feat]

7th: Mirror Image (Sp): Once per day on command, you can use mirror image as the spell. (CL 5th)

8th: Feather Falling (Su): The item immediately confers the effect of a feather fall spell upon you if you fall for more than 5 feet. (CL 5th)

9th: See Invisibility (Sp): Once per day on command, you can use see invisibility as the spell. (CL 5th)

10th: Detect Thoughts (Sp): Once per day on command, you can use detect thoughts as the spell. The save DC is 13, or 12 + your Charisma modifier, whichever is higher. (CL 5th)

11th: Cunning (Su): While you are holding, wearing, or wielding the item, you are never fl at-footed.

12th: Detect Secret Doors (Su): While you are holding, wearing, or wielding the item, you can detect secret doors, compartments, caches, and so forth, as if using the detect secret doors spell. As with the spell, you must concentrate for a number of rounds to gain more detailed information. (CL 10th)

13th: Haste (Su): Your legacy item speeds up your perception of time. While you are holding, wearing, or wielding the item, you can activate haste for 1 round as a swift action, as though wearing boots of speed. You can use this ability up to five times per day. (CL 10th)

14th: Dismissal (Sp): Once per day, when you issue the command word and gesture with the item, you can force a creature to return to its native plane, as the dismissal spell. The base save DC is 16, or 14 + your Charisma modifi er, whichever is higher. Add your character level to this number and subtract the target creature’s HD to determine the fi nal save DC. (CL 10th)

15th: Knock (Su): At will on command, you can open locked or magically sealed doors, as with the knock spell. (CL 10th)

16th: Cure Serious Wounds (Sp): Three times per day, you can use cure serious wounds as the spell by touching the creature to be healed (including yourself) and speaking a command word. This ability can instead deal damage to undead creatures. The save DC is 14, or 13 + your Charisma modifier, whichever is higher. (CL 10th)

17th: Banishment (Sp): Once per day, when you issue the command word and gesture with the item, you force extraplanar creatures out of your home plane, as the banishment spell. The save DC is 20, or 17 + your Charisma modifier, whichever is higher. (CL 15th)

18th: Chain Lightning (Sp): Once per day, when you issue the command word and gesture with the item, you cause it to blast lightning that arcs to other targets, as the chain lightning spell. The save DC is 19, or 16 + your Charisma modifier, whichever is higher. (CL 15th)

19th: Dominate Person (Sp): Two times per day, when you issue the command word and gesture with the item, you can use dominate person as the spell. The save DC is 17, or 15 + your Charisma modifier, whichever is higher. (CL 15th)

20th: Plane Shift (Sp): Once per day, when you issue the command word and gesture with the item, you can use plane shift as the spell. Only willing creatures can be transported with this effect. (CL 15th)

M Human

That sounds awesome. I like the heart item and motif. How's about the half fiend template?

And would you think it better to go Wizard(Necromancer)//Anti-Paladin(LoD)//Slayer(Executioner)

Or switch Slayer or AP to Cleric or warpriest of Asmodeus?

I really want to play with the whole Necromancy theme, but binding people and creatures is cool too.

M Human

Hey, I was wondering if you have a template you use for Char sheets, or if you type them from scratch each time. They look so nice, but I type medium to slow speed.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

You... probably don't want Half-Fiend, actually. A good part of this game involves hiding your identity and not being noticed so the kingdom's guards can't find and eliminate you before your plans come to fruition, and Half-Fiend would be really obvious.

As for the character sheets, I use Hero Lab. It kinda makes them for me. XD It's probably easiest to just write up the whole thing in a word processor, then copy/paste the formatting bits. (And it'll totally help me out if you can match Rose's style, by the way - I GM quite a few games, and a consistent profile setup among all of them makes it so much easier to find things when I need to.)

M Human

I use hero lab as well. How'd you get it to do Trisalt? Or did you edit it afterwards?

Also 1st level to start?

I used ShadowChemosh's Gestalt Builder in Hero Lab for two of the sides, then added the third side as a separate character and manually merged them together in a word processor. ^^ Pretty helpful when things need to interact, as they often do with the non-full-casting classes.

And yeah, 1st level. XD It's a campaign, after all. Expect to level up at the appropriate times in the story.

M Human

Sweet. I really like ShadowChemosh's stuff. Gestalt never gives me any problems.

I think it's a bit wonky if you've got a Flurry ability... XD Occasionally, level-based things may mess up. But yeah, it's very solid overall.

M Human

First combat dun duh DUN!

Female Human Level 4 | HP: 74/74 | AC: 27, T: 20, FF: 18 | Fort: +11, Ref: +13, Will: +13 | CMB: +7, CMD: 26 | Init: +14, Perception: +11 |

Or is it? XD Rose has that "G" in her alignment for a reason!

Basic crunch done-ish

A good start! I recommend alphabetizing all abilities. I don't see any gear yet, but that's probably right for the start of the game, given the whole prison thing. XD

Oh, and bolding things as Rose has 'em. (Lots of copy/pasting. XD)

Everything going okay for you?

M Human

Yeah I've just had a busy week/end.

Right-o! And just let me know when you're ready for your own game to get started - I can do that anytime.

Ready to roll on that one.

*Checks* Deathand, or Deathhand, for the name? XD Gimme juuuust a minute to set things up...

Okay, it was slightly more than a minute, but here's the thread.

Everything okay with you?

whew just had a nasty bout with my depression. Still alive, so I win!

I'll get this rolling again soon.

*shakes head* All right, let's get in the zone.

I'm still up for doing this if you're interested in this character still.

Maybe I'll shoot you a pm soon.

Hope the new year is going well for you.

Female Human Level 4 | HP: 74/74 | AC: 27, T: 20, FF: 18 | Fort: +11, Ref: +13, Will: +13 | CMB: +7, CMD: 26 | Init: +14, Perception: +11 |

I am interested in the character. I didn't see your posts in November because it'd been a few weeks and I'd hidden the campaign to get it off my list. XD

Yeah. I'm really sorry about that. I know it's the cardinal rule to not stick with a campaign.

But if you will it we can keep it rolling!

Female Human Level 4 | HP: 74/74 | AC: 27, T: 20, FF: 18 | Fort: +11, Ref: +13, Will: +13 | CMB: +7, CMD: 26 | Init: +14, Perception: +11 |

I have all the will. XD Among other things, I really want to test how some of these rule systems interact - and besides, Rose makes me laugh.

Sweet I was looking over my character for your WotW. I might switch some stuff with Karn's crunch and backstory.

If you're still interested to run it. Not required by any means.

Can you link me to those spell recharge rules?

EDIT: also check this out if you want. Other campaign

Female Human Level 4 | HP: 74/74 | AC: 27, T: 20, FF: 18 | Fort: +11, Ref: +13, Will: +13 | CMB: +7, CMD: 26 | Init: +14, Perception: +11 |

Recharge rules are right here (also in Rose's profile under 'Arcane Gun', should you ever need another link).

For Way of the Wicked, I'm applying to one game for that right now. *Coughs* Not actually sure if I should run and play it at the same time. (Though we could do another sort of campaign... I've been working heavily on collecting planar information from a few different sources, and a Planescape-style plane-hopping game might be fun.)

That is fair. I might suggest that We do the son of a god hercules type thing..

But start slow. Like a fifteen year old that just starts being a hero. No gestalt to start, no templates to start, but gained as he defeats foes and levels up. After his first gained gestalt, he could definitely fight in other planes and in wars with outsiders and the like.

A zero to hero story of destiny and glory.

Female Human Level 4 | HP: 74/74 | AC: 27, T: 20, FF: 18 | Fort: +11, Ref: +13, Will: +13 | CMB: +7, CMD: 26 | Init: +14, Perception: +11 |

*Nods*

Hmm... I happen to have a fair bit of material for the old Scarred Lands campaign setting (which has... interesting... reasons for being disconnected). I might be able to adapt that somehow.

I'd be interested in using the martial maneuvers from PoW. Is it possible for other classes to gain initiator levels or is it only the three from PoW?
