So, I'd like to have a conversation with you guys about Miette. I have very mixed feelings about the situation. I feel like you guys probably need someone who can disarm traps, but Rose is going to be a better trap-spotter than anyone probably ever :) On the other hand, I hate running a long running GM-NPC. As 5 PCs you guys have shown you are more than able to combat pretty much everything that's been thrown your way so far, so from that perspective you don't really need the 6th.
I would like to 'get rid of the responsibility of running Miette' somehow. I don't really want 1 player with 2 characters though. Do you guys think we should try to recruit a rogue type specifically to replace? Just let her vanish and take your chances without a rogue? Other?
I am looking for everyone's input on this, even if your input is "I don't have a preference."
Thanks!

Parfin Groud |

Well, if Parfin dies I can always roll a rogue...
Doesn't matter to me. Maybe one of us could dip a level into rogue? There might be other solutions.

Kwin Avassar |

I agree you shouldn't have to run a NPC for us to be viable as a group. I had been giving this some thought too.
We can recruit another trap seeker (rogue, bard (archaeologist), ranger, etc.)
I was trying to think if there was a way I could use an improved familiar to fill the gap, but I haven't figured anything out.
I think the main issue is magical traps; anyone with disable device can disarm a non-magical trap. I don't think there is anything I can craft that would grant that ability. Would dispel magic at 5th level give Rose and I a chance to disarm magical traps?
Edit: I suppose I could always summon creatures to trigger magical traps that we detect. Or there's that whole kill-off-Parfin thing... ;)

Kwin Avassar |

Okay. Why don't we work Miette out of it then and we'll see how it goes without. I suppose if we come across a door we can't unlock, we have Parfin and his earthbreaker to deal with it. :)
It will certainly bump up the treasure we each get, and that is never a bad thing.

GM - Mark Garringer |

Sorry guys, I'm still alive!
Between waiting of Jericho and a busy week this sort of got away from me. I'll update tonight and get things moving again!

Kwin Avassar |

Mark, it looks like we are leaning toward going back to Zelkor’s Ferry to cash in and re-equip. There are a few items that we picked up that we do not have a value assigned to.
From the dam room, two saltwater pearls. From the sarcophagus room there was a silver goblet. In Jossel’s room, there was an earring with an obsidian sphere. For items to be sold, should I assume a 50% sale value?

GM - Mark Garringer |

They are all worth 50 gp each, and normal gear sells at 50% and gems and jewelry sells at 75%.
If you guys want to return to Zelkor's Ferry, it will be a 4 hours trip. If you want to RP anything there thats fine with me, if you just want to sell and buy whatever and post it here that's fine too. Remember there is a 75% anything under 200 gp will be avaliable for sale.

GM - Mark Garringer |

Thanks for the heads up Dobin, I will bot you in the meantime! Just let us know! Best of luck!

Rose Silversting |
Sorry to hear you're unwell Dobin. Feel better soon!
I am heading to Europe tomorrow for a bit over a week. Please bot me as needed.

The Sage's Journal |
Selling everything except for the red scrolls, it will bring us 9,129.6 gp. Splitting it six ways (assuming Miette's write out involves her taking an even share with her) results in each of us getting 1521 gp, 6 sp. If Miette's write out doesn't involve her getting a share and we split it five ways, it would be 1,825 gp, 9 sp, 6 cp.

GM - Mark Garringer |

Honestly I see no reason to split out a share for Miette at this point :) Go with 1826 gp each. Thanks Kwin!

Kwin Avassar |

Kwin can't get Craft Magic Arms and Armor until we hit fifth level, but he is planning on doing so. It would have to be masterwork armor, and the first hit is 500 gp.
Right now he can craft wondrous items (like belts and headbands) if he can get the right spells and material components.

GM - Mark Garringer |

The problem is that Zeklor's Ferry is very, very small and remote. So the purchase limit is 200 gp, which means anything over that (like any masterwork weapons, for example) just aren't for sale. Because you guys seem to be a good source of income, it is not at all unreasonable that you could probably work through Rasmus to have him special order stuff for you. It would take longer, but he'd be happy to take a percentage of the total order to facilitate things for you and save you the boat trips back and forth. Other options would be to hire your own purchasing agent (perhaps Miette could be repurposed to do that?). I was also thinking that it might be fun to in some way do something to allow you guys to contribute to the growth of Zelkor's Ferry to help raise the purchase limit etc. If that is something that is of interest to the group as a whole, I can look into the stuff in Ultimate Campiagn and see what I can use/apply to approximate something resonable.
Specifically for the handy halversack Kwin, you need to find a way to get the secret chest spell. Since the spell services limit here is 2nd level and that is a 5th level spell (and the scroll will be over the base value) you won't be able to find it here. Though, if you had one there is nothing else in the requirements that would prevent you from making such a thing.
There is a wide range Lawful Unfun and Chaotic Whatever. I personally strive for a Neutral Entertaining, and I am cerntainly open to suggestions and ideas that you guys feel keeps the game entertaining.

Parfin Groud |

Well, I have the armor already, just need it enchanted. I'd be willing to pay for whatever would be needed if it needs to be brought in by the time we hit 5th level.

GM - Mark Garringer |

I will take the silence to mean no interest then. I'd like to wrap up the purchase stuff and get back to the dunegon by Thursday. I plan on bot-ting Dobin for now until his return.

Kwin Avassar |

I think you're right. I think purchases are going to take more money, another level and a bigger city. For now Kwin will just go for two antiplagues.
1st 1d100 ⇒ 24
2nd 1d100 ⇒ 6
So, 100 gp and back to the Fountain.

Parfin Groud |

Yep, I'll just save the money further and wait. If something has to be ordered in order to enchant the armor, I'll do that.

GM - Mark Garringer |

Parfin, you should be good. You have the mwk armor already and the rest of the cost is used up in non-specific 'raw materials.'

GM - Mark Garringer |

Right Kwin, it was stated before and I think everyone is now waiting for you to hit 5th level for new armor! lol :)

GM - Mark Garringer |

Sorry for the delay guys, things have been hetic (Star Wars, holidays, work). For some reason roll20 is broken at work again so I'll get something sorted out today so we can keep things moving. I know this week will likely be rough for many but I want to keep things moving as much as possible! :)

GM - Mark Garringer |

Sorry guys, the holidays took more out of me than I expected. I am back in the saddle again though...

Kwin Avassar |

Sorry for such a delay guys. My laptop died, I am oncall and I had to pull single parent duty last week.
The first Rule of Play-by-Post: Real Life Comes First.
I'm glad things are okay. :)

GM - Mark Garringer |

Sorry guys, another long day today. I hope to get caught up tonight or first thing tomorrow morning.

Dobin Cur |

I just underwent further eye surgery and will not be able to make large posts, or may be slow in posting (I can only use my ipad). So please either bot me, or I will try to post. I am also move to a new job in a few weeks, so that is playing merry havoc with things here as well. Moving far north into the Northwest Territories. Should have internet on arrival. Thanks ans sorry for the delays

GM - Mark Garringer |

It is with a heavy heart that I write this message.
It has become increasingly clear to me the last two weeks that I am presently unable to manage this game as it deserves. That sucks big time. I also had to turn down another Paizo freelancing oppurtunity. I have enjoyed running this game, and your characters! Over two years is a long time, and we've had a lot of fun in that time. You guys have been great, and I appreciate the dedication you've put into this. I know these things happen but I hate being the guy who has to pull the plug on something. I appologize. Thank you for being excellent, colorful and creative players!

Kwin Avassar |

I cannot tell you how sorry I am to hear that; I have really been enjoying this game. But that said, I do completely understand. Running a game is a huge amount of work; Rappan Athuk more than most. You've done a great job of it, and I appreciate all the effort you've put into it. If your circumstances change and you want to pick it up again, just IM. Otherwise, I hope our paths cross again. It has been a blast gaming with you!

Rose Silversting |
Nooooo! Say it ain't so!
I totally get it - it takes serious time to run one of these games! I really appreciate all that you've done, and I've had a good time. Hope you enjoyed it too! If you ever decide to pick it up again, I'll probably still be available. Regardless, I wish you all the best.
