map is updated
The thin built corporal who has been nervous whenever he has been in or near this cell opens the outer cell door and walks over to your cell door and opens that one as well and then steps inside the cell. He rushes over to Cedric and uses the keys to free the man handing him the keys and says
"Free the others and hurry. There is not much time before those fools come back. He said if I help you all you will take me to my beloved. I shall stand watch by the door. Here take this as well." he stuffs a rolled up parchment into Cedrics hands as well and he moves over to stand by the outer cell door.
LETTER
Greeting prospects. I hope you are well. As you may have already surmised I value your lives more than these accursed Mitrans and wish to employ you. If you take the items I provide you I am sure we can do great things together. My power reaches even into this famed prison. Serve me and you will gain power and get your revenge. There should be a body on the floor with you. Once you escape your binds this body will have useful items for each of you under his rags. Use those items for they will serve you well. There should also be a weak fool there to assist your escape. I promised him he would join his wife whom other associates detained for me… she unfortunately wilted under the strain of my ministrations and passed on. Please send him to see his loving wife as I promised him. Follow the instructions carefully and do not delay. Asmodeus above all!
Cedric Alzir |
Cedric gives an evil smirk as he reads the letter. Before he sets about unchaining the others he brings out the viel given him and, on a hunch, attempts to pull out one of the daggers merely shrugging of nothing happens.
I'll release you now, follow me, to our revenge, and a more proper place for ones of our estime.
Once he finishes he moves to the man laying on the floor and kicks him over to begin searching him.
Saulric The Black |
Saulric rubs where his barnacles bit into him as he struggled. I swear this to you good sir. I will see you returned to your beloved since you have given me the chance to do the same. Give me your blade and I'll be much more effective at it.
Nidjena Cantabriar |
Nidjena almost collapses when she is freed. She stretches her arms and legs, trying to get some mobility back into them.
I think you deserve our help for your assistance in freeing us. Where is this beloved of yours?
She watches Cedric remove the daggers and asks: Anything else you've got hidden in there? I'm afraid I'm not much use with a blade. Never needed them anyway
At the last remark, she uncurls her hands and rubs her clawed fingers together, testing the sharpness.
Cedric Alzir |
cedeic does, and assuming the dagger came out of the viel.
After the first dagger came out, Daniel tosses it to one of the others then pulls out a pick, the potion, and rope, then offer any of the others to pick through it. its a note of acknowledgement from out benefactor, corpral, come with us and you will surely be reunited. Is there anyone, or anything, in this place that could be of assistance to us in this endeavour?
GM Qwerty |
Cedric touches the raised stitching on the veil of a dagger and then as he grabs t with his fingers the stitching springs out of the veil as a real dagger in his hand. The stitching of that dagger on the veil is now gone...who gets the daggers and who carries the equipment?
"I am not foolish enough to give you my sword friend. Hurry and free the others so we can be gone already." the corporal says without looking back.
Saulric The Black |
Saulric helps the others out and grabs a dagger. What's the best way out of here. I assume you can't just walk us out the front door.
GM Qwerty |
your initial search of the vagrant on the floor revealed nothing hidden on his body or in his rags...wait... there appears to be some sort of scar across his belly...not a scar but a stitching from a wound and now that you see a bit clearer, you can tell there are raised bumps under his skin that should not be there, that is not normal...as if someone sewed objects under the mans skin near his belly...
@ Saulric "My instructions were to ensure all of you ended up in the same cell, bring this drunken fool into the cell, free you, give you the parchment, I know not what it says, and then follow your plan to leave. I thought you had a plan. You do not have a plan...? By the heavens what am I doing...? I was told to follow your lead....you do have a plan don't you...? Why is she hovering over that old drunk?" he says with a hint of frailty in his voice...
Cedric Alzir |
is a pick a pickaxe? If so Cedric would be taking one of those, along with the rope, potion, and anything else noone else takes I'll leave in until needed, is there anything on the drunken man? Sown into the rags or otherwise?
Saulric The Black |
The plan is to find out more about the lay of the land. The more we know the easier it is to get you to your lady.
Saulric The Black |
How is his sword displayed? On his back or on his side. A riot may be good cover, but only if we could get out before it happened. Perhaps a small group would be better.
Nidjena Cantabriar |
Nidjena will take the holy symbol and the pouch from the veil.
Hoping that's a spell component pouch?
She speaks to the guard: Have no fear. With the four of us at your side, no harm shall come to you. I swear it.
To the others: Well we have some lockpicks. Carol, do you think you could maybe free a couple of other prisoners? I think we could convince them to cause enough of a distraction for the five of us to sneak out.
Carol safan |
Carol takes the dagger offerd to her by cedric and cuts the mans throat. She then opens his belly to view what's been hidden on the inside. While doing this she glances at Nidjena and nods.
Hmm... Probably... It might take some doing but it can be done...
Saulric The Black |
Steal Maneuver: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16 Saulric reaches for the Corporal's sword in an attempt to draw it.
Cedric Alzir |
Cedric would keep one, in all honesty whoever asked first would probably have gotten it. So I'll say Carol. If nothing else he would let Carol use his dagger for a moment.
Cedric will take a look around the larger area to see if he spots anything that could be of use before stopping the corpral
perception: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 3 + 2 = 10
corpral, what is your name? Also, I have a plan to keep your name clean after all of this, but it involves handing over your sword. You can trust us, after all our benefactor always keeps his promises. After all, if you were taken by surprise and forced to aid us, who would think otherwise? An added benefit would be that it further gaurentees our escape, and your reunion, should things take a turn down a messy road.
diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 7 + 2 = 17
He then turns to look at the now disemboweled man, oh my, how gruesomely efficient.
dammit saulric lol.
GM Qwerty |
Items fastened to a foe (such as cloaks, sheathed weapons, or pouches) are more difficult to take, and give the opponent a +5 bonus (or greater) to his CMD. Plus you are fatigued. Be aware of where your token is located on the map and your actions. I moved Carol next to the dumped body and moved Saulric next to the guard.
14 CMD+5=19=Fail
Saulric gets closer to the corporal and when withing arms reach the prisoner lunges for the mans sheathed sword...days of beatings and lack of food have taken their toll on the prisoner and he fumbles in his attempt...but now alerts the corporal this may be more than what he bargained for...although the man is momentarily stunned by the prisoners actions...
Carol:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Cedric:1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Nidjena:1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Saulric:1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Corporal:1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
Combat 1st Round
Cedric, Nidjena, Carol
Corporal
Saulric
you quietly kill the man and slice open his torso revealing four rings of gold with different colored stones (black, blood red, deep purple, dark blue)
Cedric Alzir |
my good sir, please forgive him, being beaten and tortured can mess with ones manneers no? we could not escape without your help, agree to aid us further, and as promised no harm will come to thee.
Do I need a roll for his?
Nidjena Cantabriar |
Wondering what on earth Saulric is doing, Nidjena moves out into the corridor and turns the corner to see the look of shock on the coporal's face.
What's going on out here?
Couldn't get within line of sight in a single move, so double moved to get there
GM Qwerty |
You put on the red ring and the gem glows for a brief moment with a pentagram and then the pentagram fades as your finger burns. You get a +1 inherent bonus to one Physical Stat and +1 to one Mental Stat. You are also healed as per the Heal spell (so not fatigued and max HP). The ring also provides a +1 profane bonus to AC, a +1 profane bonus to saves. You seem to instantly know how to cast the 0 level arcane spell Spark. If you try to take it off you find out that you can't. Adjust your character.
Cedric would have to roll fairly high on a social skill to stop the man from doing something rash...
The corporal pushes Saulric away from him and then makes a move for the door fumbling with his keys to open it...
"I gotta get out of here... these people are crazy! I should not have agreed to do this...HELP!"
Combat 1st Round
Cedric, Nidjena, Carol
Corporal
Saulric
Combat 2nd Round
Cedric, Nidjena, Carol
Corporal
Saulric
Saulric The Black |
Saulric moves towards the man and puts a hand on his shoulder. I wish a sword and nothing more. I require it to see you to your fair maiden. I made this promise tonyou and intend to keep it. Ha. I love this guy. And he's being completely truthful. Of course once somebody informs Saulric that his woman's dead the means of that promise change quite a bit.
Nidjena Cantabriar |
We don't want to kill you, we just need your sword.
Now STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING and help us
Casting command on him. DC15 will negates.
Halt: The subject stands in place for 1 round. It may not take any actions but is not considered helpless.
Cedric Alzir |
diplomacy: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
Think before you act, you've already let us out, do you really think they won't suspect you? That investigations of how we got out won't be held? That they won't find out YOU broke protocals? My friend, your beat chance is ensuring we get out, and that you make yourself look like a victim.
Cedric Alzir |
just a note, most of my posts are via phone, and so I can't move my icon on the maps, but I would have kept much closer to the guard (likely outside the cell) to the point where he ran, but I will assume my last turn was a full movement to him either way. Also, Cedric never intended to outright kill the guy, he hasn't lied at all yet! Also, would you be so kind as to move my icon?
As Cedric catches up and imposes himself between the man and the door, he asks.
Are you with us? If so, hand us the sword. Surely our escape is a small price to pay for your love. Wouldn't you agree, lover boy? he looks to saulric as he ends his sentence.
Cedric readies an action with his dagger, if the man screams or attempts to call for help he will strike him.
GM Qwerty |
moved your token. Also unless given a clue by Nidjena of her spell on him none of you would know why he stopped other than her voice intimidated him. He was by the door so you cant get in between him and the door bu you are next to him with Carol. You have a weak willed individual betraying his workplace to save his wife. Criminals surround him and two are armed somehow and one killed and butchered someone in front of him. He does not feel the love yet.
Cedric moved to him and Carol studied him, Saulric and Nidjena are up...
Saulric The Black |
Saulric takes the blade and pulls it free and takes his shield if he has one. Let's go, we've not time form this. Toss me that black ring. They call me the black, I might as well live up to that name.
Cedric Alzir |
well at the same time suddenly attempting to betray 4 of the supposed most evil scum in the country doesn't make a long life. Note, it was exactly that weak will Cedric was trying to take advantage of and convince him his best outcome was to play along.
Assuming the man allowed saulric to take the blade, Cedric nods.
A good choice. Now then, would you kindly tell us when to expect the two other guards back?
Cedric keeps the dagger ready hidde. behind him.
Nidjena Cantabriar |
Nidjena moves in and places her hand on the corporal's shoulder gently. See, we may be villains, but we are true to our word. As a follower of the god of contracts, you can believe me. We won't hurt you unless you try to run or rat us out.
She actually means it, just in case there's any confusion
Turning to Carol. I see you've already claimed the red ring. A shame. I shall have to suffice with the purple one if you wouldn't mind?
GM Qwerty |
you have not searched the entire area yet...you do not know...
The guard is quickly disarmed by Saulric although the sword feels heavy in his hands due to his physical condition. Surrounded by the criminals the guard essentially gives up and crumples to the floor.
