Thrand Prymlea |

Thrand wonders aloud how well he can fight from horseback on a moving ship. "If I walk Valor to the stern, I should be able to get him up to a full gallop by the time we reach the bow. Then I can stab the creature with my lance." Such thoughts consume him and he is slow to react.

Anchard Wulfphear |

"Why is an octopus attacking the boat?!" Anchard stands unsteadily and moves to the furthest point from all edges of the boat and utters a prayer.
Casting Bless on the party

Thrand Prymlea |

Tanariel's admonishment snaps Thrand from the equine abstraction. "No, my lady? I suppose you are correct." He begins to follow her advice, but the cold sea air has left his joints stiff and slow-moving. It may take him until the end of the round to reach his target.

GM Qwerty |

Anchard casts bless on the party and the sailors begin to move...most grab ship pikes a few grab axes while the captain barks orders to get that beast off the ship while holding the ship steady..."Tis rare for these monsters to attack so boldly! I carry nothing it may want!"... then looks over at Tanariel as if asking her if this is her cause...

the monster grabs hold of the sailor with the axe and grabs him after the tentacle hit... the tentacle brings the sailor to its mouth and bites the sailor in half...blood begins to spill on the bow of the ship as wood planks begin to groan under the stress...
"Get him off the boat or we sink!" the boat captain yells out...

Round One
Thrand slashes feebly at the sea monster with his blade.
Longsword: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 6 + 1 = 141d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Tzardüsk |

Tzardusk, thinking his meager offensive spells won't affect the creature, fires his crossbow again.
to hit: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 2 + 1 = 7
dmg if hits: 1d8 ⇒ 4
Sadly, even with the benefit of the bless, he fails to hit, his bolt flying off into the waters.

Shortnose. |

Just one more week guys! I think!
Shortnose moves forward, towards the monster shield ready.
I'm kinda far away from the monster(s). I'll just move to engage.

Thrand Prymlea |

Oh yes, the map. Good point, Shortnose. I was kind of far away, too. Was I in charging range? Could I have hit with a charge? I forgot I could do that without a horse ;) and charging is the sort of thing Thrand would do.

GM Qwerty |

The spell Silent Image is maxed at four 10-ft. cubes + one 10-ft. cube/level so just a bit bigger than the devilfish
Shortnose moves to engage the beast...while Tanariel casts some magic and seems to have gained the devilfish's attention ... and the attention of the sailors as they do not know it is an illusion since the Captain was the only one of the crew that could hear the elf...
Another monster!
Crikie! what is that?
This voyage is cursed!
can be heard from amongst the crew...

Anchard strikes true with his attack...
The devilfish notices the sea monster and feeling threatened lashes out at the sea monster and the group sees a black cloud come out of the devilfish towards the silent image... the devilfish attacks the image this round and will notice it is not a threat...but it did expend its poison blood cloud on the image and the water and not on you all in the boat
:Good move Lady, that is its poison cloud so at least we know it wont use it on us! We wont outrun it though! It swims faster than we sail. Best bet is to discourage it from staying with damage..." Milus yells out still trying to keep the ship steady... the sailors close in on the creature...

Thrand replies to Shortnose, "That is not how I was taught. I learned, 'Swing low, sweep, parry, hit. Come in close, then drive the blade home.' I will try it your way. Show me again." He observes his powerful new comrade's fighting style hoping to learn some new tricks and improve his swordplay.

Tzardusk fires his crossbow at the monster again.

"There is room for all the gods, Anchard... let each give obeisances where their heart lies."

Anchard's aim is in deed blessed by the gods as he hits the creature with his bolt.

GM Qwerty |

Tzardusk's bolt and Shortnose's attack finally end the creature and it slips back into the waters devoid of life...
Milus runs towards the front of the boat to inspect the damage...
The remaining crew begin check the fallen for any items which they set aside, then they wrap the bodies up in sheets, say some prayers to various gods and toss the bodies overboard.
"Best do that before they bring a sickness on the rest of us" one of the crew tells the party.
"Well we wont be getting far with the damage sustained. I hope you folks know how to hammer a nail. We need to do some quick repairs before we sail further." the captain says and then barks orders for the tools be brought out. "Still never seen a devilfish so possessed. Twas odd" he remarks.

Tzardüsk |

"I will help however I can... I'm not skilled with carpentry but give me a task and I will give it my all."

Thrand Prymlea |

Thrand is by no means a skilled shipwright, but he is strong and lends a hand by hauling materials and holding planks in place while the carpenters do their work. If there is any free time and the crew is willing, he will begin instructing the sailors how to fight with shields and to join forces in a shield wall so that more of them will survive the next encounter.

Shortnose. |

Shorty cleans his blade, remove all the gruesome things from his armor and proceed to clean himself with water before doing anything else. There’s no need to keep dirtied by ugly monsters dying fluids.
”Me ain’t the best fighter out there.” he says a in a voice he is sure Thrand will hear, ”and ain’t saying you bad either, but somethin’s missin’.” after he finishes cleaning his gear, he proceeds to thrown the dead bodies in the water, with the proper reverence and even a short prayer to the god-of-flame-that-Anchard-believes-that-he-now-forgot-the-name ”Oh godly one of the burin’ flame. Don’t burn them too bad, since they’ve suffered enough.”
After the rites are done, he proceeds to help getting the ship in shape again. He is no skilled wooden work, but he can manage simple repairs as anyone raised without any servant can do.
”What now? Gotta stop mid-travel?”

GM Qwerty |

"Wells I hates to say it but I am down a number of crew and the boat is in bad shape. If your men help me own fix the Mermaid and then act as sailors I will make your stop first, I will go to Port Elredd first, hire on some more sailors and then go to my original stop. He wont like it but nothing I can do about that now. Besides you all killed that beast.. and good thing too or else we'd all be in the deep. Whatsayou?" Milus asks Tanariel.
