Grumadon "Grum" |

On his turn
Not realizing they've begun combat yet, Grum keeps himself ready for any aggressive moves by the shadowy figure, arrow nocked, bow at the ready.
Bow Attack&Damage (blunt arrow): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 121d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Xavier Montgomery |

Reminder I have Sun's Blessing Undead do not get any channel resistance against my channels
Xavier will take a five foot step back.
keep back it is an undead shadow Doc throw your bombs at it
Xavier will hold up his holy symbol of Iomedae
foul shadow of death may the bright sun of Iomedae send you to your final rest
The bright light burst from his holy symbol flowing quickly in all directions.
Channel: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Grobradon |

Grob was getting ready to charge forward, but the good cleric's warning has him change tactics, "Undead shadow... got it."
I don't got it. I have no idea if I can even hurt this thing Despite his doubts, he puts his sling to work, hurling a bullet at the foe.
On his turn, of course.
To hit: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
dmg: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Alas, his shot goes far too wide.

GM Birch |

Romund's aim is true and the projectile hits the shadow in the middle of its chest. Except the stone passes straight through the creature, appearing to cause no damage.
Then Xavier's blessing fills the small room with light. The creature cries out in a high pitch whistle and when the light fades back to normal, the creature looks less solid than before.
Grob follows up with a slingshot of his own, but the stone travels wide of the target before Grum lets loose an arrow, which also misses.
Finally Doc waves his stick wildly but just misses the shadow. Then the creature strikes, it's shadowy blade almost connecting with Doc's head, but his coughing fit means it misses by a matter of an inch.
Next round

Grumadon "Grum" |

As he prepares to defend himself, Xavier racks his briansnas to the nature of the creature. In his distant memory, he thinks this may be some sort of undead being, perhaps his death is in some way linked to the fire.
Xavier your knowledge roll told you the shadows presence may be linked to the fire somehow, would you share that with the group? :)

Xavier Montgomery |

The shadow is somehow linked to the fire it may have died by fire. Doc force damage should affect it so throw your bombs regular attacks will not work

Grumadon "Grum" |

Mostly so I can remember. Init: Romund, Xavier, Grob, Grum, Doc, Shadow
Grum looks over at Xavier, quickly stowing his bow and throwing his hands up in the air, "Then what the devil can I do?" he cries. Clearly mostly upset at his inability to help. Hoping to distract the thing from Xavier, he'll draw his heavy flail as he moves around the shadow and approaches from another position, trying to flank and distract it.
Total Defense - AC 19/15

Dr. Savren "Doc" Redforge |

Doc immediately puts Xavier's advice into action, pulling a vial from his belt and popping the cork. He spits into the vial, closes it up again, and begins to shake it, before tossing it at the shadowy figure. Once done, he covers his mouth again.
Savren throws a bomb at the shadow (standard action).
Bomb vs. Shadow (PBS): 1d20 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 + 1 = 11
Bomb damage (Fire) vs. Shadow (PBS): 1d6 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 1 = 10

Grobradon |

Grobradon tries to encourage the others, "Don't dally, the villagers gave us torches.. light em up and use them if you don't have anything else that can hurt this." He scrambles for one himself, and tries to light it so he might use it soon as a burning club on this shadow thing.
Forgive me for presuming, but I hope one can light a torch in a round? Particularly if we can just use the bomb's flames like a campfire :)

GM Birch |

Once more Xavier's blessing fills the small room with light. Again, tcreature cries out in a high pitch whistle and when the light fades back to normal, the creature looks even less solid than before.
Grob darts forward and list one of the torches whilst Grum moves to flank the creature. Doc throws a bomb at the creature, it misses and fortunately it's splash misses everyone else too. The creature swings a shadowy sword at Doc. Although the shadow passes through Doc, the pain is very real.
Doc takes 4 damage

Xavier Montgomery |

Xavier will first cast a spell away from the shadow.
By the power of my god I set you free from your bonds of deathly unrest.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
He will move up to the creatue and touch the shadow with his hand that now glows white hot.

Romund |

Running sideways Romund dodges the shadow as he tries to get to the bonfire. Striping his cloak to try to put out the fire by stomping it.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Tumble and moves to the fire to put it away.

Grobradon |

When he goes again Once the torch is lit, Grobradon wields it like a club and tries to smash it into the shadow, perhaps the fire will hurt it even if the blow doesn't.
I'll leave the fire dmg if any up to our DM, I'm using club stats for the burning torch
To hit: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Dmg: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

Grumadon "Grum" |

Grum moves in towards the shadow and tries to assist his brother Grob when he starts swinging with the torch, figuring that's a better tactic than he himself has thought of!
Attack (aid another): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 Edit: Woohoo! +2 to Grobs attack roll.

GM Birch |

In the interests of moving us along...
Xavier steps up to the creature and places his hand upon the shadow itself. The creature emits a high- pitch whistling, louder than before - like steam escaping a boiling kettle - before disappearing from sight, the sound fading as the shadow evaporates.
Romund, do you still want to put the fire out?

Grumadon "Grum" |

Grum considers the place where the Shadow creature was before Xavier destroyed it, "What in the nine hells was that thing? Was anyone hurt by it?" The last part is said looking around at the others with some concern. He'll also search the room now that the coast seems to be clear.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15 Or I'll take 10 if you'll allow it for 16. :)

Xavier Montgomery |

Xavier stands there in thw room breathing a little heavier than normal.
I am burning through my gods power in me way to fast. I have just a little left. we will have to stop to rest soon I am affraid.
Xavier seems to regain a little color
where to next then.

GM Birch |

Grum looks worriedly after as Doc retires to recover some, and then continues his search of the room. Did my Perception 16 find anything?
You notice nothing beyond what was noticed earlier - namely two things of interest. Firstly there is a scorched key close to the fire. Secondly there is a fancy dagger just on the other side of the fire.

Grumadon "Grum" |

Grum moves over to retrieve the scorched key and the fancy dagger. "I think we should hold onto these, I wonder if there's anything special about them. Lets head back the way we came." If no one objects Grum heads back to collect Doc and regroup.
Once they're all together again, Grum responds to his brother, "Well, that unfortunate soul seemed pretty well holed up in that cabinet for awhlie... But honestly I don't believe it's safe in here. Plus there's some urgency to find the who was dragged off. I fear what'll become of her if we don't move now to find her."
No other exits from the smokey room if I recall correctly. At least none we found. :)

Dr. Savren "Doc" Redforge |

Doc coughs again into the arm of his shirt, looking thoroughly pained. "'is damned smoke," he complains, "is gonna be th' death o' me if I don' git a'ay from it." Burying his face into his shirt once again, he turns back and tries to head away from the source of the fire.

Romund |

There is not going to be any rescuing If we die ourselfs. I could have been hitting it with a wet noodle for all the good it did.
What was that thing?! Romund asks in shock.
Yea, I say we rest. He speaks while looking afraid.
Do we have a map of the rooms we already went in?

Grumadon "Grum" |

Grum bites back the bitter response that came to his mind, not liking the plan one bit but not wanting to endanger his allies in a potentially deadly push deeper into this cursed place. "Rest." he says in resignation, trying unsuccessfully to keep imagined images of a helpless girl from his mind.
