While looking around, nothing but dust and broken wood seem to lie in the small stairwell, drifitng through the door brings you into what was clearly once the grand dining room. Two long mahogany tables occupy much of the space. Dozens of splintered chairs stand amid dented goblets, scraps of cloth, and unidentifiable lumps of meat on the floor. The wood of the furniture is gouged and stained.

At the leftmost table sit two more maenads, wild-looking women covered in spattered blood and grinning a wicked smile that reveals sharp teeth. The pair are giggily passing a jug of rancid-looking wine back and forth to each other as they occasionally bite into what appears to be a human thigh. Neither of the duo seems to notice your presence.

A large door stands across the room from you, while a slightly smaller one sits in the wall to your right.

You can do a Percpetion check to look around if you like, or scout another room, or decide to come back to the Material Plane here, etc.

Torean, from before, you recall that Maenads have some resistance to magic and fire, and that their bite an claws carry poison with them as well. Those who didn't yet attempt one may use Knowledge Nature if you like to see if you remember anything else about these monsters.

Toren stares hard at the two maenads eating human flesh at the table, but then he grabs Vad's arms and shakes his head. He looks at the others and then points to the wall on the right. "I'll come back and destroy these two, but that's not why we're here. We can't chance the soulstone getting away."

Sticking your heads through the door, reveals an expansive ballroom, its fine wooden floor now warped and cracked as the roots of a massive rose bush grow out from underneath. The thorny stems of the bush have pushed through the windows in the northern and eastern walls, as well, the glass long since broken.

A waist-high marble pedestal stands near the center of the room. Beside it stands a an emaciated woman with vines sprouting thorned roses growing out from her taut skin and forming a train behind her. she gazes intently at a stone placed atop the column, her hands slowly dancing over it in some precise ritual.

As you move your bodies slightly forward to get a good look, you find your path unexpectedly stopped. Some magical force seems to be preventing you from entering the room.

DC 32 Spellcraft:
There seems to be a forbiddance effect around the ballroom, preventing both teleportation and ethereal travel into it. Forbiddence zones also frequently contain magics that wound creatures of improper alignments as they enter.

While you take in the room, the pakalchi circles the pedastel. As she moves around it, her head tilts up seemingly staring straight at you from her empty sockets where plant tendrils occupy what should be eyes.

"Ah, visitors!" Muthrazi says. "Are you here for me or him? Not that it matters: just a curiosity you can clear up in the moments you still live."

As she notices you, you feel a rising sense of panic welling up inside from her gaze.

Each of you need a DC 22 Will save or become Panicked for 1 round and Shaken for another 1d4 ⇒ 2 rounds after. If you make the save, its merely Shaken for the one round. this is a fear and mind-affecting effect if that matters.

Technically no: you're still at 74 hp for now, but with 6 nonlethal damage too. Non-lethal's a bit weird.

Vad tries to maintain his composure, but Muthrazi's gaze haunts him as he hastily retreats through the misty expanse of the Ethereal plane.

In the dining room, the frenzied maenad stands and moves to the corner of the table, cackling at Torean. Lookssocross, soserious.Thestoutmanisbeingsorigidandstiff;letyourselfgoandsi ngandplayandseethefunoftheworld! As she says so, Torean's vision begins to swim as he starts to see the solid walls and people around him shift and meld and foreign sounds begin to invade his thoughts.

Torean needs a DC 17 Will save or take a –2 penalty on Will saving throws, caster level checks, Intelligence-based skill checks, and Wisdom-based skill checks for an hour. Mad Halluciantion, which is an illusion (phantasm) effect.

Still on the Ethereal plane, Dailing sees Muthrazi cast some form of spell, then concentrates.

The pakalchi suddenly becomes for more 'real' to the kitsune as she moves closer. She then begins alternating between 'solidity' and the same faded look from before, as if she is blinking back and forth between the Ethereal Plane and the Material one.
Blink: On either plane you have a 50% miss chance against her (as your attack may strike when she's on the wrong plane), while she also has a 20% miss chance against you (as she can't entirely control the shifts. Force effects do not have a miss chance.

"Sorry, lady," Vad says to the maenad that Torean dispatched. "So much for getting the last dance," be says, shrugging his shoulders, and moving towards Muthrazi. At the end of his move, Vad launches his trident through the doorway at the outsider.

Dailung steps forward and lunges at Muthrazi. Her first piercing thrust aims true only to have the pakalchi shift planes at the last moment causing her to hit nothing but air. The second thrust hits the fiend, but fails to penetrate her viney exterior.

As Dailung steps close to her however, the vine train surrounding Muthrazi threatens to entangle the kitsune. The swashbuckler manages to dodge, stepping carefully to remain mobile and avoid the thorns within.

With Dailung right in front of her, the kitsune is exposed to a barrage of attacks - both of the pakalchi's claws and four vines that whip out at the swashbuckler. Miracuously, only one vine hits, and that does not penetrate Dailung's stony skin.

As Torean's heals a portion of his injuries, Dailung skewers the briar creature. Her piercing thrusts seem to not be the most effective, but the plant has a large portion of it cut away. It does not seems especially unnerved however.

The creature is a Plant, and thus immune to morale and mind-affecting effects.

Plant thing - 45 hp. Vad and Liam are up.

Also Dailung, just so I'm making sure I understand correctly, you are willing to party the next 4 attacks against you this round? How much Panache is in your pool at the moment? Also, note that Riposting is an immediate action, so you would only be able to do that on the first successful parry.

Liam's blast of fire lashes out. Muthrazi manages to blink away just in time, but even as the plant twists away from the worst of it, the flames seem extremely effective.

Within the room, Muthrazi blinks back into sight and grins wickedly at Liam. Then she stays in view, seemingly not blinking anymore (even though Liam recalls her spell should not have expired yet).
